• Problems with repositories on CentOS 3.9

  Hello, I have CentOS 3.9 for i386. Now I have CentOS 3, and there is nothing I can install with yum. Although you may not realize it, you have seen Diophantine equations before: one of the most famous Diophantine equations is: We are not certain that McDonald's knows about Diophantine equations (actually we doubt that they do), but they use them! McDonald's sells Chicken McNuggets in packages of 6, 9 or 20 McNuggets. Thus, it is possible, for example, to buy exactly 15 McNuggets (with one package of 6 and a second package of 9), but it is not possible to buy exactly 16 nuggets, since no non- negative integer combination of 6's, 9's and 20's adds up to 16.   I'm working to update the MPNowPlayingInfoCenter and having a bit of trouble. I've tried quite a bit to the point where I'm at a loss.   I'm writing an XNA game in C# using the XNA port of Box2d - Box2dx. Entities like trees or zombies are represented as GameObjects. • How to improve WinForms MSChart performance?

  Hi all, I have created some simple charts (of type FastLine) with MSChart and update them with live data, like below: . To do so, I bind an observable collection of a custom type to the chart like so: // set chart data source this._Chart.DataSource = value; //is of type ObservableCollection<SpectrumLevels> //define x and y value members for each series this._Chart.Series[0].XValueMember = "Index"; this._Chart.Series[1].XValueMember = "Index"; this._Chart.Series[0].YValueMembers = "Channel0Level"; this._Chart.Series[1].YValueMembers = "Channel1Level"; // bind data to chart this._Chart.DataBind(); //lasts 1.5 seconds for 8000 points per series At each refresh, the dataset completely changes, it is not a scrolling update! With a profiler I have found that the DataBind() call takes about 1.5 seconds. The other calls are negligible. How can I make this faster? Should I use another type than ObservableCollection? An array probably? Should I use another form of data binding? Is there some tweak for the MSChart that I may have missed? Should I use a sparsed set of date, having one value per pixel only? Have I simply reached the performance limit of MSCharts? From the type of the application to keep it "fluent", we should have multiple refreshes per second. Thanks for any hints!

• "OutputPath property is not set" error occurs only when calling MSBuild in CCNET

  I've made an MSBuild project that simply does an msbuild task with our solution file as parameter. I've defined a BeforeBuild target where I set some properties, and a Build target that executes the msbuild task. I've confirmed that no errors occured when building the msbuild script in the command line console. However, when I use it in the msbuild task in my CCNET project, I keep getting the following error: C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\Microsoft.Common.targets (483,9): error: The OutputPath property is not set for project 'MyProject.msbuild'. Please check to make sure that you have specified a valid combination of Configuration and Platform for this project. Configuration='Debug' Platform='AnyCPU'. You may be seeing this message because you are trying to build a project without a solution file, and have specified a non-default Configuration or Platform that doesn't exist for this project. I checked the build log and it seems that the error occurs during _CheckForInvalidConfigurationAndPlatform. It wasn't even able to continue to my Build task! Since the script is only intended to build the solution under Debug/Release and AnyCPU as platform, I tried to add the following lines to my msbuild project: <PropertyGroup Condition=" '$(Configuration)|$(Platform)' == 'Debug|AnyCPU' "> <OutputPath>.\bin\Debug\</OutputPath> </PropertyGroup> <PropertyGroup Condition=" '$(Configuration)|$(Platform)' == 'Release|AnyCPU' "> <OutputPath>.\bin\Release\</OutputPath> </PropertyGroup> I could still build the project without errors in the command line, but CCNET is returning the same error mentioned above. I've been following a tutorial and a sample application, namely 5 Days of Wicket - Writing the tests: http://www.mysticcoders.com/blog/2009/03/10/5-days-of-wicket-writing-the-tests/ I've set up my own little project with a simple shoutbox that saves messages to a database. I then wanted to set up a couple of tests that would make sure that if a message is stored in the database, the retrieved object would contain the exact same data. Upon running mvn test all my tests fail. The exception has been pasted in the first code box underneath.   I am fairly new to unit testing and am using VS2010 to develop in and run my tests. I have a simple test, illustrated below, that simply compares 2 System.Data.DataTableReader objects. I know that they are equal as they are both created using the same object types, the same input file and I have verified that the objects "look" the same. I realize I may be dealing with a couple of issues, one being whether or not this is the proper use of Assert.AreEqual or even the proper way to test this scenario, and the other being the main issue I am dealing with which is why this test fails with this exception: Failed 00:00:00.1000660 0 Assert.AreEqual failed. Expected:<System.Data.DataTableReader>. Actual:<System.Data.DataTableReader>. • jQuery, jQuery UI, and Dual Licensed Plugins (Dual Licensing)

  OK I have read many posts regarding Dual Licensing using MIT and GPL licenses. But Im curious still, as the wording seems to be inclusive. Many of the Dual Licenses state that the software is licensed using "MIT AND GPL". The "AND" is what confuses me. It seems to me that the word "AND" in the terms, means you will be licensing the product using both licenses. Most of the posts, here on stackoverflow, state that you can license the software using one "OR" the other. JQuery specifically states "OR", whereas JQuery UI specifically States "AND". Another Instance of the "AND" would be JQGrid. Im not a lawyer but, it seems to me that a legal interpretation of this would state that use of the software would mean that your using the software under both licenses. Has anyone who has contacted a lawyer gotten clarification or a definitive answer as to what is true? Can you use Dual licensed software products that state "AND" in the terms of agreement under either license?   I've used JAXWS-RI 2.1 to create an interface for my web service, based on a WSDL. I can interact with the web service no problems, but haven't been able to specify a timeout for sending requests to the web service. If for some reason it does not respond the client just seems to spin it's wheels forever. Hunting around has revealed that I should probably be trying to do something like this: ((BindingProvider)myInterface).getRequestContext().put("com.sun.xml.ws.request.timeout", 10000); ((BindingProvider)myInterface).getRequestContext().put("com.sun.xml.ws.connect.timeout", 10000); I also discovered that, depending on which version of JAXWS-RI you have, you may need to set these properties instead: ((BindingProvider)myInterface).getRequestContext().put("com.sun.xml.internal.ws.request.timeout", 10000); ((BindingProvider)myInterface).getRequestContext().put("com.sun.xml.internal.ws.connect.timeout", 10000); The problem I have is that, regardless of which of the above is correct, I don't know where I can do this.   I have a MyFaces Facelets application, where the page coding is a bit rugged. Anyway, it's developed with Eclipse and built with Ant, and kindof runs ok in Tomcat 2.0.26. So far so good. Now, I'd rather build with Maven, so I made a couple of pom-files, opened them in Netbeans and built, and now I have a war file that deploys ok. However, on any facelet page it barfs out with com.sun.org.apache.xerces.internal.impl.io.MalformedByteSequenceException: Invalid byte 1 of 1-byte UTF-8 sequence. at com.sun.org.apache.xerces.internal.impl.io.UTF8Reader.invalidByte(UTF8Reader.java:684) at com.sun.org.apache.xerces.internal.impl.io.UTF8Reader.read(UTF8Reader.java:554) at com.sun.org.apache.xerces.internal.impl.XMLEntityScanner.load(XMLEntityScanner.java:1742) So, I've tried a lot of different things, and the application actually run simple pages without facelet stuff. But, everything runs if I just build with Ant instead ... So my question is: What's the most likely difference between an ant build and a maven build that may cause this? It also seems that even though I've configured for UTF-8 in Netbeans and pom-files, Netbeans eventually ends up reporting the facelet files as ISO-8859-1 after some editing. I've made sure that most central libs are of same version (especially xerces 2.3.0), I've added an encoding servlet filter that had no effect. And, I'd rather fix the maven build and keep the buggy pages, than the other way around ... it's my intention to introduce Naven, not fix buggy pages.

• Git subtree not properly using .gitignore when doing a partial clone

  I am a graduate student with many scripts, bibliography data in bibtex, thesis draft in latex, presentations in open office, posters in scribus, and figures and result data. I would like to put everything in one project under version control. Then when I need to work on a portion such as the bibliography data, I would like to check that subdirectory out, modify it as necessary and merge it back.I would like the ability to check out one version to my home computer, and a different one to my work computer and make changes to each independently and eventually merge them back. I would also like to be able to check out a piece of code from this big project and import it with versioning into a separate project. If I may changes I'd like to be able to merge them back to the original project. • Azure - Unable To Get SQL Azure Invitation Code!

  Scenario I'm trying to convert my Silverlight Business Application over to the cloud with the help of Azure. I have been following this link from Brad Abrams blog. Both the links to Windows Azure and SQL Azure crash out in Google Chrome, they work in Internet Explorer, but it's literally one of the worst user experiences I've ever had. The Problem I'm asked to sign in to Microsoft connect with my Live ID. I do so, I'm then asked to register!? - I do so. I'm then sent a verification email which I verify. I'm then signed out!?!?! When I sign back in, it repeats the process.... ANY IDEAS!??! Edit/Update: Finally managed to get signed up/in to connect. From here I was able to get hold of an invitation code to Windows Azure. Now I need an invitation code for SQL Azure. I cannot see ANYWHERE that advertises a way of getting this SQL Azure code, the only thing that I have seen is some text saying that there "may be a delay" in receiving codes due to volume of interest, which quite frankly I find hard to believe......... It's so far been 3 days now.This officially Sucks! If I have any more news I'll post back here.

• Drawing custom graphics on the iPhone: CALayer vs. CGContext

  Hi all, I have an application in which I'm doing some custom drawing, a bunch of lines on a gradient background, like so (ignore the text, they're just UILabels): At the moment, that's all done by starting a new CGContext, drawing stuff into it with CGContextDrawLinearGradient and CGContextStrokePath, then finally saving the resulting image with UIGraphicsGetImageFromCurrentImageContext. The positioning info is calculated while I'm laying out those labels, so it'd be a PITA (and duplication of effort) to calculate it all over again when the containing UIView is drawn with drawRect, so I'm drawing it ahead of time into a UIImage. All works fine, so far so good. However, I have a sneaking suspicion that it may be more efficient to use CALayers to do this drawing. My (cursory) understanding of the difference between the two approaches is that a CALayer is more like a bunch of instructions to draw stuff, and so takes up less memory until it's actually drawn onscreen, whereas drawing everything into a UIImage ahead of time means that you've got a sodding great bitmap kicking around in memory all the time, whether it's drawn or not. Is that a correct understanding? What is generally considered to be the best way of drawing custom images on the iPhone?

• ExtJS: remove a grid from a tabpanel when its underlying store is empty

  Hi, I have TabPanel which contains, among other things, a Grid connected to a Store. Several events may remove elements from the store. I would like the Grid to be removed from the TabPanel when the store is empty and, possibly, to have a single place in my code to check for this event. I thought about using store listeners, but unfortunately this causes exceptions in Ext code. My assumption is that this happens because rendering is performed on the grid after this is removed from the tabpanel. Any idea on how to accomplish such a task without messing up Ext is much appreciated. • Diffence between FQL query and Graph API object access

  What's the difference between accessing user data with the Facebook Graph API (http://graph.facebook.com/btaylor) and using the Graph API to make a FQL query of the same user (https://api.facebook.com/method/fql.query?query=QUERY). Also, does anyone know which of them the Facebook Developer Toolkit (for ASP.NET) uses? The reason I ask is because I'm trying to access the logged in user's birthday after they begin a Facebook Connect session on my site, but when I use the toolkit it doesn't return it. However, if I make a manual call to the Graph API for that user object, it does return it. It's possible I might have something wrong with my call from the toolkit. I think I may need to include the session key, but I'm not sure how to get it.
