  • Extract enumeration data from .XSD file

    - by Ram
    Hi, I am trying to read enum from a XSD file. The schema is as follows <xs:schema id="ShipReports-v1.xsd" xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:msdata="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:xml-msdata" attributeFormDefault="unqualified" elementFormDefault="qualified" msdata:IsDataSet="true"> <xs:simpleType name="Type"> <xs:restriction base="xs:string"> <xs:enumeration value="Op1" /> <xs:enumeration value="Op2" /> <xs:enumeration value="Op3" /> </xs:restriction> </xs:simpleType> </xs:schema> I also tried using this but I am getting list item count as Zero. Following is the code I am using DataSet _sR = new DataSet(); _sR.ReadXmlSchema(assembly.GetManifestResourceStream("v1.xsd")); XmlDocument xDoc = new XmlDocument(); xDoc.LoadXml(_sR.GetXml()); XmlNamespaceManager xMan = new XmlNamespaceManager(xDoc.NameTable); xMan.AddNamespace("xs", "http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"); XmlNodeList xNodeList = xDoc.SelectNodes( "//xs:schema/xs:simpleType[@name='Type']/xs:enumeration", xMan); string[] enumVal = new string[xNodeList.Count]; int ctr = 0; foreach (XmlNode xNode in xNodeList) { enumVal[ctr] = xNode.Attributes["value"].Value; ctr++; }

  • What framework would allow for the largest coverage of freelance developers in the media/digital mar

    - by optician
    This question is not about which is the best, it is about which makes the most business sense to use as a company's platform of choice for ongoing freelance development. I'm currently trying to decide what framework to move my company in regarding frameworks for web application work. Options are ASP.NET MVC Django CakePHP/Symfony etc.. Struts Pearl on Rails Please feel free to add more to the discussion. I currently work in ASP.NET MVC in my Spare time, and find it incredibly enjoyable to work with. It is my first experince with an MVC framework for the web, so I can't talk on the others. The reason for not pushing this at the company is that I feel that there are not many developers in the Media/Marketing world who would work with this, so it may be hard to extend the team, or at least cost more. I would like to move into learning and pushing Django, partly to learn python, partly to feel a bit cooler (all my geeky friends use Java/Python/c++). Microsoft is the dark side to most company's I work with (Marketing/Media focused). But again I'm worried about developers in this sector. PHP seems like the natural choice, but I'm scared by the sheer amount of possible frameworks, and also that the quality of developer may be lower. I know there are great php developers out there, but how many of them know multiple frameworks? Are they similar enough that anyone decent at php can pick them up? Just put struts in the list as an option, but personally I live with a Java developer, and considering my experience with c#, I'm just not that interested in learning Java (selfish personal geeky reasons) Final option was a joke http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/radiolabs/2007/11/perl_on_rails.shtml

  • Sort on DataView does not work if DataTable has zero rows

    - by BigBlondeViking
    We have a WPF app that has a DataGrid insode a ListView. private DataTable table_; We do a bunch or dynamic column generation ( depending on the report we are showing ) We then do the a query and fill the DataTable row by row, this query may or may not have data.( not the problem, an empty grid is expected ) We set the ListView's ItemsSource to the DefaultView of the DataTable. lv.ItemsSource = table_.DefaultView; We then (looking at the user's pass usage of the app, set the sort on the column) Sort Method below: private void Sort(string sortBy, ListSortDirection direction) { var dataView = CollectionViewSource.GetDefaultView(lv.ItemsSource); dataView.SortDescriptions.Clear(); var sd = new SortDescription(sortBy, direction); dataView.SortDescriptions.Add(sd); dataView.Refresh(); } In the Zero DataTable rows scenario, the sort does not "hold"? and if we dynamically add rows they will not be in sorted order. If the DataTable has at-least 1 row when the sort is applied, and we dynamically add rows to the DataTable, the rows com in sorted correctly. I have built a standalone app that replicate this... It is an annoyance and I can add a check to see if the DataTable was empty, and re-sort... Anyone know whats going on here, and am I doing something wrong? FYI: What we based this off if comes from the MSDN as well: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms745786.aspx

  • Creating a service (SERVICE_ACCEPT_SESSIONCHANGE)

    - by Ron
    Hi there, I am trying to create a service following the example documented in the link below: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb540475(v=VS.85).aspx What I am interested in is to be able to catch user "lock" and "unlock" workstation events. Using the code on from the example provided, I modified the following: Line 15: Original: VOID WINAPI SvcCtrlHandler( DWORD ); Modified: DWORD WINAPI SvcCtrlHandler( DWORD, DWORD, LPVOID, LPVOID ); Line 141: Original: gSvcStatusHandle = RegisterServiceCtrlHandler( SVCNAME, SvcCtrlHandler); Modified: gSvcStatusHandle = RegisterServiceCtrlHandlerEx( SVCNAME, SvcCtrlHandler, NULL); Line 244: Original: SvcStatus.dwControlsAccepted = SERVICE_ACCEPT_STOP; Modified: gSvcStatus.dwControlsAccepted = SERVICE_ACCEPT_STOP|SERVICE_ACCEPT_SESSIONCHANGE; Line 266: Original: VOID WINAPI SvcCtrlHandler( DWORD dwCtrl ) { // Handle the requested control code. switch(dwCtrl) { case SERVICE_CONTROL_STOP: ReportSvcStatus(SERVICE_STOP_PENDING, NO_ERROR, 0); // Signal the service to stop. SetEvent(ghSvcStopEvent); ReportSvcStatus(gSvcStatus.dwCurrentState, NO_ERROR, 0); return; case SERVICE_CONTROL_INTERROGATE: break; default: break; } }` Modified: DWORD WINAPI SvcCtrlHandler( DWORD dwControl, DWORD dwEventType, LPVOID lpEventData, LPVOID lpContext ) { DWORD dwErrorCode = NO_ERROR; switch(dwControl) { case SERVICE_CONTROL_STOP: ReportSvcStatus(SERVICE_STOP_PENDING, NO_ERROR, 0); // Signal the service to stop. SetEvent(ghSvcStopEvent); ReportSvcStatus(gSvcStatus.dwCurrentState, NO_ERROR, 0); break; case SERVICE_CONTROL_INTERROGATE: break; case SERVICE_CONTROL_SESSIONCHANGE: ReportSvcStatus(gSvcStatus.dwCurrentState, NO_ERROR, 0); break; default: break; } return dwErrorCode; } With the changes above, my service compiled and install fine. But when I try to start my service on my Windows 2000 machine, it does not start properly (it will be stuck on the "starting" status) Can anyone please advise? Thank you in advance, Ron

  • Database not updating after UPDATE SQL statement in ASP.net

    - by Ronnie
    I currently have a problem attepting to update a record within my database. I have a webpage that displays in text boxes a users details, these details are taken from the session upon login. The aim is to update the details when the user overwrites the current text in the text boxes. I have a function that runs when the user clicks the 'Save Details' button and it appears to work, as i have tested for number of rows affected and it outputs 1. However, when checking the database, the record has not been updated and I am unsure as to why. I've have checked the SQL statement that is being processed by displaying it as a label and it looks as so: UPDATE [users] SET [email]=@email, [firstname]=@firstname, [lastname]=@lastname, [promo]=@promo WHERE ([users].[user_id] = 16) The function and other relevant code is: Sub Button1_Click(sender As Object, e As EventArgs) changeDetails(emailBox.text, firstBox.text, lastBox.text, promoBox.text) End Sub Function changeDetails(ByVal email As String, ByVal firstname As String, ByVal lastname As String, ByVal promo As String) As Integer Dim connectionString As String = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0; Ole DB Services=-4; Data Source=C:\Documents an"& _ "d Settings\Paul Jarratt\My Documents\ticketoffice\datab\ticketoffice.mdb" Dim dbConnection As System.Data.IDbConnection = New System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection(connectionString) Dim queryString As String = "UPDATE [users] SET [email]=@email, [firstname]=@firstname, [lastname]=@lastname, "& _ "[promo]=@promo WHERE ([users].[user_id] = " + session.contents.item("ID") + ")" Dim dbCommand As System.Data.IDbCommand = New System.Data.OleDb.OleDbCommand dbCommand.CommandText = queryString dbCommand.Connection = dbConnection Dim dbParam_email As System.Data.IDataParameter = New System.Data.OleDb.OleDbParameter dbParam_email.ParameterName = "@email" dbParam_email.Value = email dbParam_email.DbType = System.Data.DbType.[String] dbCommand.Parameters.Add(dbParam_email) Dim dbParam_firstname As System.Data.IDataParameter = New System.Data.OleDb.OleDbParameter dbParam_firstname.ParameterName = "@firstname" dbParam_firstname.Value = firstname dbParam_firstname.DbType = System.Data.DbType.[String] dbCommand.Parameters.Add(dbParam_firstname) Dim dbParam_lastname As System.Data.IDataParameter = New System.Data.OleDb.OleDbParameter dbParam_lastname.ParameterName = "@lastname" dbParam_lastname.Value = lastname dbParam_lastname.DbType = System.Data.DbType.[String] dbCommand.Parameters.Add(dbParam_lastname) Dim dbParam_promo As System.Data.IDataParameter = New System.Data.OleDb.OleDbParameter dbParam_promo.ParameterName = "@promo" dbParam_promo.Value = promo dbParam_promo.DbType = System.Data.DbType.[String] dbCommand.Parameters.Add(dbParam_promo) Dim rowsAffected As Integer = 0 dbConnection.Open Try rowsAffected = dbCommand.ExecuteNonQuery Finally dbConnection.Close End Try labelTest.text = rowsAffected.ToString() if rowsAffected = 1 then labelSuccess.text = "* Your details have been updated and saved" else labelError.text = "* Your details could not be updated" end if End Function Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • SerializationException with custom GenericIdentiy?

    - by MunkiPhD
    I'm trying to implement my own GenericIdentity implementation but keep receiving the following error when it attempts to load the views (I'm using asp.net MVC): System.Runtime.Serialization.SerializationException was unhandled by user code Message="Type is not resolved for member 'OpenIDExtendedIdentity,Training.Web, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null'." Source="WebDev.WebHost" I've ended up with the following class: [Serializable] public class OpenIDExtendedIdentity : GenericIdentity { private string _nickName; private int _userId; public OpenIDExtendedIdentity(String name, string nickName, int userId) : base(name, "OpenID") { _nickName = nickName; _userId = userId; } public string NickName { get { return _nickName; } } public int UserID { get { return _userId; } } } In my Global.asax I read a cookie's serialized value into a memory stream and then use that to create my OpenIDExtendedIdentity object. I ended up with this attempt at a solution after countless tries of various sorts. It works correctly up until the point where it attempts to render the views. What I'm essentially attempting to achieve is the ability to do the following (While using the default Role manager from asp.net): User.Identity.UserID User.Identity.NickName ... etc. I've listed some of the sources I've read in my attempt to get this resolved. Some people have reported a Cassini error, but it seems like others have had success implementing this type of custom functionality - thus a boggling of my mind. http://forums.asp.net/p/32497/161775.aspx http://ondotnet.com/pub/a/dotnet/2004/02/02/effectiveformsauth.html http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/netfxremoting/thread/e6767ae2-dfbf-445b-9139-93735f1a0f72

  • WPF Border DesiredHeight

    - by Joseph Sturtevant
    The following Microsoft example code contains the following: <Grid> ... <Border Name="Content" ... > ... </Border> </Grid> <ControlTemplate.Triggers> <Trigger Property="IsExpanded" Value="True"> <Setter TargetName="ContentRow" Property="Height" Value="{Binding ElementName=Content,Path=DesiredHeight}" /> </Trigger> ... </ControlTemplate.Triggers> When run, however, this code generates the following databinding error: System.Windows.Data Error: 39 : BindingExpression path error: 'DesiredHeight' property not found on 'object' ''Border' (Name='Content')'. BindingExpression:Path=DesiredHeight; DataItem='Border' (Name='Content'); target element is 'RowDefinition' (HashCode=2034711); target property is 'Height' (type 'GridLength') Despite this error, the code works correctly. I have looked through the documentation and DesiredHeight does not appear to be a member of Border. Can anyone explain where DesiredHeight is coming from? Also, is there any way to resolve/suppress this error so my program output is clean?

  • Can Castle.Windsor do automatic resolution of concrete types

    - by Anthony
    We are evaluating IoC containers for C# projects, and both Unity and Castle.Windsor are standing out. One thing that I like about Unity (NInject and StructureMap also do this) is that types where it is obvious how to construct them do not have to be registered with the IoC Container. Is there way to do this in Castle.Windsor? Am I being fair to Castle.Windsor to say that it does not do this? Is there a design reason to deliberately not do this, or is it an oversight, or just not seen as important or useful? I am aware of container.Register(AllTypes... in Windsor but that's not quite the same thing. It's not entirely automatic, and it's very broad. To illustrate the point, here are two NUnit tests doing the same thing via Unity and Castle.Windsor. The Castle.Windsor one fails. : namespace SimpleIocDemo { using NUnit.Framework; using Castle.Windsor; using Microsoft.Practices.Unity; public interface ISomeService { string DoSomething(); } public class ServiceImplementation : ISomeService { public string DoSomething() { return "Hello"; } } public class RootObject { public ISomeService SomeService { get; private set; } public RootObject(ISomeService service) { SomeService = service; } } [TestFixture] public class IocTests { [Test] public void UnityResolveTest() { UnityContainer container = new UnityContainer(); container.RegisterType<ISomeService, ServiceImplementation>(); // Root object needs no registration in Unity RootObject rootObject = container.Resolve<RootObject>(); Assert.AreEqual("Hello", rootObject.SomeService.DoSomething()); } [Test] public void WindsorResolveTest() { WindsorContainer container = new WindsorContainer(); container.AddComponent<ISomeService, ServiceImplementation>(); // fails with exception "Castle.MicroKernel.ComponentNotFoundException: // No component for supporting the service SimpleIocDemo.RootObject was found" // I could add // container.AddComponent<RootObject>(); // but that approach does not scale RootObject rootObject = container.Resolve<RootObject>(); Assert.AreEqual("Hello", rootObject.SomeService.DoSomething()); } } }

  • How to configure outgoing connections from an SQL stored procedure?

    - by Peter Vestberg
    I am working on a .NET project which uses Microsoft SQL server. In this project, I need a CLR stored procedure (written in C#) that uses a remote web service. So, when the stored procedure is executed on the SQL server, it makes web service calls and thus sends packets to a remote location. The problem is that when executing the SP I get: "System.Net.WebException: The request failed with HTTP status 403: Forbidden." The database user has full permission, the deployed CLR assembly and SP are even marked "unsafe", I tried signing it etc., so any of that is not causing the problem. When I am executing the very same C# code, but from a simple console application instead of as a SP, it all works fine. So I started to suspect a network related problem and had a packet sniffer running when executing both the SP and the console app version. What I realized was that the packets sent out had different destination IP addresses: the console app sent the packets directly to the web service IP while the SP sent the packets to a proxy server we use in our company. Due to network policies the latter is not allowed and that explains the "403 Forbidden" exception. So my question boils down to this: How can I configure the SP/MS SQL server to NOT use that proxy? I want it to send the packets directly to the web service IP, just like the test console app. (again, the C# code is the same , so it's not a programming matter). I've disabled all proxy settings in Internet Explorer in case the SQL server inherits these settings or something. However, no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Best regards, Peter

  • Shared classes are build under VS2008 only but not under MSBuild.

    - by Vasiliy Borovyak
    We share our classes between silverlight 3.0 client and server as is it described here. Everything works fine under Visual Studio 2008 only. Using msbuild with following command line parameters: C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v3.5\msbuild.exe FoobarApplication.sln /t:Rebuild /p:Configuration=Release /p:Platform="Any CPU" we get following error: Class1.cs(28,54): error CS0234: The type or namespace name 'WcfService' does not exist in the namespace 'Company.FoobarApplication' (are you missing an assembly reference?) Service References\geoServiceReference1\Reference.cs(24,81): error CS0234: The type or namespace name 'WcfService' does not exist in the namespace 'Company.FoobarApplication' (are you missing an assembly reference?) Done Building Project "C:\work\bov-tmp\FoobarApplication\FoobarApplication.sln" (Rebuild target(s)) -- FAILED. I found exactly the same question here. There are 4 workarounds there, I tried first 3 of them and those did not worked out. The 4-th workaround is not the acceptable solution. Any thoughts how to build the solution?

  • Too many false positives when using FxCop.

    - by mark
    Dear ladies and sirs. We are using FxCop and it generates too many false positives to our liking. For instance, if a private method is invoked using reflection, then this method is reported as potentially unused - understandable and we suppress this warning explicitly using the SuppressMessage attribute. However, FxCop reports the same warning for the methods invoked from that method, which we already suppressed warnings about. This is stupid and generates too much noise. There are also false reports on member variables used in these methods. Also, there are problems with generic types (I even saw something about it in MS connect). Anyway, I am wondering if anyone knows whether Microsoft is going to upgrade FxCop, because it seems to be stuck in version 1.36 for a long time. BTW, I we do not use StyleCop, because it is way too picky and we just do not have the time to examine all the zillion messages in order to suppress them all. Besides, the StyleCop report seem to augment, rather than replace FxCop. Maybe anyone can suggest a good alternative to FxCop? We are using VS2008 pro. Thanks.

  • Query gives an unsorted result set when run from stored procedure using CTE

    - by irtizaur
    I am trying to create a paging query using CTE. It works fine when I execute it from Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Query Editor. And the result set is perfectly sorted as I want. But when I modify it for a stored procedure it gives me a unsorted result and I don't have any clue why. Here is my Query, with items as ( select ROW_NUMBER() over (order by create_time desc) number , i.item_name item_name , i.create_time create_time , c.category_name category_name , i.category_id category_id from cb_item i, cb_category c where i.category_id = c.category_id and c.category_id = '4E5248FE-05DD-4D01-ABBB-80C6E3BA5CDA' ) select item_name , create_time , category_name , category_id from items where number between 1 and 25 And this is the Stored Procedure Version, create procedure ItemPage @category_id uniqueidentifier , @from int , @to int , @sortby nvarchar(50) as begin with items as ( select ROW_NUMBER() over (order by @sortby) number , i.item_name item_name , i.create_time create_time , c.category_name category_name , i.category_id category_id from cb_item i, cb_category c where i.category_id = c.category_id and c.category_id = @category_id ) select item_name , create_time , category_name , category_id from items where number between @from and @to end exec itempage '4E5248FE-05DD-4D01-ABBB-80C6E3BA5CDA' , 1, 25, 'create_time desc' The first one gives me sorted result but procedure gives me unsorted result. I don't know why?

  • How do I label a group of radio boxes for WCAG / 508 Compliance? Is ASP.NET doing it wrong?

    - by Mark Brittingham
    I am trying to bring an existing web site into greater conformance with WCAG 2.0 Guidelines and am a bit confused over the output emitted by Microsoft (ASP.NET 4.0 although it was the same in 3.5). Suppose you have a question like: "How would you rate your health?" and a set of 5 answers created using an ASP.NET RadioButtonList. I place the question in an asp:Label with an "AssociatedControlID" that matches the ID of the RadioButtonList (e.g. "SelfRatingBox"). Seems pretty easy... Only the output that is generated has an html "label" with a "For" that is equal to the ID of a table that wraps up the RadioButtons. I assumed that this would work with page readers but our 508 compliance guy is saying that the reader isn't associating the label with the radio controls. The WCAG guidelines indicate that you have to use a fieldset around the entire group and a legend to capture the associated text (the question). So what gives? It would be ideal if MS could take my label and the radiobuttonlist and generate the appropriate fieldset and legend tags but it seems pretty clear that to achieve WCAG compliance, I'll have to roll my own. Is this correct or am I missing something?

  • Binding data to the custom DataGridView

    - by Jatin Chaturvedi
    All, I have a customized DataGridView where I have implemented extra functionality and bounded datasource in the same custom DataGridView (Using C# and .NET). Now, I could able to use it properly by placing it on a panel control. I have added label as button on panel control to display data from datasource on to datagrid and create a binding source. Another Label which act as a button is used to update data from grid to databse. Issue: I pressed show label to display data in a dsatagridview. Modified the grid cell value and immediately pressed update label which is on same panel control. I observed that, the cursor is still in the grid cell when I press Save button. While saving, the cell value is null even though I have entered something in the presentation layer. My expected behaviour is to get the modified value while saving. Special Case: After typing something in the grid cell, if I click on somewhere else like the row below where I entered something, before I click on Save button, it is working fine. (Here, mainly I tried to remove the focus from the currently modified cell) Is there any way to bind sources before I click on save button? Please suggest me. Please feel free to ask me if you need any information. I have also seen same kind of problem on this forum, but unfortunately the author got the answer and didnt post it back. here is that URL: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/winformsdesigner/thread/54dcc87a-adc2-4965-b306-9aa9e79c2946 Please help me.

  • WCF Discovery finds endpoint but host is "localhost"

    - by Flo
    I am trying to use the Discovery feature in WCF using http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd456783(v=VS.100).aspx as a starting point. It works fine on my machine, but then I wanted to run the service on a different machine. The service was discovered properly but the hostname of the found service is always "localhost" which is of course not much use. Service Endpoint: var endpointAddress = new EndpointAddress(new UriBuilder { Scheme = Uri.UriSchemeNetTcp, Port = port}.Uri); var endpoint = new ServiceEndpoint(ContractDescription.GetContract(typeof(IServiceInterface)), new NetTcpBinding (), endpointAddress); Client: static EndpointAddress FindServiceAddress<T>() { Stopwatch stopwatch = new Stopwatch(); stopwatch.Start(); DiscoveryClient discoveryClient = new DiscoveryClient(new UdpDiscoveryEndpoint()); // Find endpoints FindResponse findResponse = discoveryClient.Find(new FindCriteria(typeof(T))); Console.WriteLine(string.Format("Searched for {0} seconds. Found {1} Endpoint(s).",stopwatch.ElapsedMilliseconds / 1000,findResponse.Endpoints.Count)); if (findResponse.Endpoints.Count > 0) { return findResponse.Endpoints[0].Address; } return null; } Should I simply set the Host to System.Environment.MachineName?

Error 1 The namespace 'Resources' already contains a definition for 'shopping' c:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files\web\2cd6afe9\737b0a13\App_GlobalResources.vomuzavz.1.cs 26 After searching Google, I discover that "en-sg" is not a default culture and I have to create custom culture for it. I don't know the detailed steps of this. What should I do to create the culture and remove the compilation error? I follow the example in MSDN, create a file called "shopping.x-en-US-sample.resx" and put the following code into BasePage's function (protected override void InitializeCulture()): CultureAndRegionInfoBuilder cib = null; cib = new CultureAndRegionInfoBuilder( "x-en-US-sample", CultureAndRegionModifiers.None); CultureInfo ci = new CultureInfo("en-US"); cib.LoadDataFromCultureInfo(ci); RegionInfo ri = new RegionInfo("US"); cib.LoadDataFromRegionInfo(ri); cib.Register(); ci = new CultureInfo("x-en-US-sample"); However, compilation error is still exist. UPDATED: You can easily reproduce the problem by creating an empty website and two files "shopping.en-sg.resx" and "shopping.resx" in the app_globalresources folder.

  • How to write to a varchar(max) column using ODBC

    - by andyjohnson
    Summary: I'm trying to write a text string to a column of type varchar(max) using ODBC and SQL Server 2005. It fails if the length of the string is greater than 8000. Help! I have some C++ code that uses ODBC (SQL Native Client) to write a text string to a table. If I change the column from, say, varchar(100) to varchar(max) and try to write a string with length greater than 8000, the write fails with the following error [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]String data, right truncation So, can anyone advise me on if this can be done, and how? Some example (not production) code that shows what I'm trying to do: SQLHENV hEnv = NULL; SQLRETURN iError = SQLAllocEnv(&hEnv); HDBC hDbc = NULL; SQLAllocConnect(hEnv, &hDbc); const char* pszConnStr = "Driver={SQL Server};Server=127.0.0.1;Database=MyTestDB"; UCHAR szConnectOut[SQL_MAX_MESSAGE_LENGTH]; SWORD iConnectOutLen = 0; iError = SQLDriverConnect(hDbc, NULL, (unsigned char*)pszConnStr, SQL_NTS, szConnectOut, (SQL_MAX_MESSAGE_LENGTH-1), &iConnectOutLen, SQL_DRIVER_COMPLETE); HSTMT hStmt = NULL; iError = SQLAllocStmt(hDbc, &hStmt); const char* pszSQL = "INSERT INTO MyTestTable (LongStr) VALUES (?)"; iError = SQLPrepare(hStmt, (SQLCHAR*)pszSQL, SQL_NTS); char* pszBigString = AllocBigString(8001); iError = SQLSetParam(hStmt, 1, SQL_C_CHAR, SQL_VARCHAR, 0, 0, (SQLPOINTER)pszBigString, NULL); iError = SQLExecute(hStmt); // Returns SQL_ERROR if pszBigString len > 8000 The table MyTestTable contains a single colum defined as varchar(max). The function AllocBigString (not shown) creates a string of arbitrary length. I understand that previous versions of SQL Server had an 8000 character limit to varchars, but not why is this happening in SQL 2005? Thanks, Andy

  • Does HttpListener work well on Mono?

    - by billpg
    Hi everyone. I'm looking to write a small web service to run on a small Linux box. I prefer to code in C#, so I'm looking to use Mono. I don't want the overhead of running a full web server or Mono's version of ASP.NET. I'm thinking of having a single process with a thread dealing with each client connection. Shared memory between threads instead of a database. I've read a little on Microsoft's version of HttpListener and how it works with the Http.sys driver. Alas, Mono's documentation on this class is just the automated class interface with no discussion of how it works under the hood. (Linux doesn't have Http.sys, so I imagine it's implemented substantially differently.) Could anyone point me towards some resources discussing this module please? Many thanks, Bill, billpg.com (A little background to my question for the interested.) Some time ago, I asked this question, interested in keeping a long conversation open with lots of back-and-forth. I had settled on designing my own ad-hoc protocol, but people I spoke to really wanted a REST interface, even at the cost of the "Okay, send your command now" signal. So, I wondered about running ASP.NET on a Linux/Mono server, but stumbled upon HttpListener. This seemed ideal, as each "conversation" could run in a separate thread. The thread that calls HttpListener in a loop can look for which thread each incomming connection is for and pass the reference to that thread. The alternative for an ASP.NET driven service, would be to have the ASPX code pick up the state from a database, and write back the new state when it finishes. Yes, it would work, but that's a lot of overhead.

  • how to know which response data is associated with its requested url (using RollingCurl.php) ?

    - by Ken
    I am writing a web application that grabs the http response headers from multiple sites (with RollingCurl.php) then stores it in an array and at the end outputs it in json format. Since some sites do redirects to new locations, $info (array) in “request_callback” function always has an url ($info[‘url’]) where the requested url was redirect.to, and it’s quite expected. But how to put a requested url in $info ($info[‘requested_url’]) and to know which $info (response data) is associated with its requested url? $urls = array( ‘http://google.com’, ‘http://microsoft.com’ // more urls here ); $json = array(); if ( $urls ) { $rc = new RollingCurl("request_callback"); $rc->window_size = 20; foreach ($urls as $url) { $request = new Request($url); $rc->add($request); } $rc->execute(); echo json_encode($json); } function request_callback($response, $info) { global $json; $json['status'][] = $info; } from RollingCurl.php: // send the return values to the callback function. $callback = $this->callback; if (is_callable($callback)){ $info[‘requested_url’] = ??? // How to put requested url here??? call_user_func($callback, $output, $info); }

  • WPF ListView GridView DisplayMemberBinding Center alignin content

    - by Bigginn
    I'm trying to center align data in a ListView/Gridview where I use DisplayMemberBinding. This is (partially) how my gridview looks: <ListView> <ListView.View> <GridView> <GridView.Columns> <GridViewColumn DisplayMemberBinding="{Binding Path=Timi}" Width="Auto"> <GridViewColumnHeader Content="Tími" Click="GridViewColumnHeader_Click" ></GridViewColumnHeader> </GridViewColumn> </GridView.Columns> </GridView> </ListView.View> </ListView> I tried to use CellTemplate like explained on this page http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.windows.controls.gridviewcolumn.celltemplate.aspx but it didn't work and then later I read somewhere that one should never use cellTemplate and DisplayMemberBinding together. So the question is : How do I center the gridview data when I use DisplayMemberBinding to bind the data to the gridview? Thanks in advance.

  • VB .Net - Reflection: Reflected Method from a loaded Assembly executes before calling method. Why?

    - by pu.griffin
    When I am loading an Assembly dynamically, then calling a method from it, I appear to be getting the method from Assembly executing before the code in the method that is calling it. It does not appear to be executing in a Serial manner as I would expect. Can anyone shine some light on why this might be happening. Below is some code to illustrate what I am seeing, the code from the some.dll assembly calls a method named PerformLookup. For testing I put a similar MessageBox type output with "PerformLookup Time: " as the text. What I end up seeing is: First: "PerformLookup Time: 40:842" Second: "initIndex Time: 45:873" Imports System Imports System.Data Imports System.IO Imports Microsoft.VisualBasic.Strings Imports System.Reflection Public Class Class1 Public Function initIndex(indexTable as System.Collections.Hashtable) As System.Data.DataSet Dim writeCode As String MessageBox.Show("initIndex Time: " & Date.Now.Second.ToString() & ":" & Date.Now.Millisecond.ToString()) System.Threading.Thread.Sleep(5000) writeCode = RefreshList() End Function Public Function RefreshList() As String Dim asm As System.Reflection.Assembly Dim t As Type() Dim ty As Type Dim m As MethodInfo() Dim mm As MethodInfo Dim retString as String retString = "" Try asm = System.Reflection.Assembly.LoadFrom("C:\Program Files\some.dll") t = asm.GetTypes() ty = asm.GetType(t(28).FullName) 'known class location m = ty.GetMethods() mm = ty.GetMethod("PerformLookup") Dim o as Object o = Activator.CreateInstance(ty) Dim oo as Object() retString = mm.Invoke(o,Nothing).ToString() Catch Ex As Exception End Try return retString End Function End Class
