• Getter/Setter from separate class file in Java

  I'm new to Java and for a HW assignment, we had to create a Person class that has a constructor, getter/setter for the attributes of firstName, lastName, phone. That is in a separate file from an old HW assignment (Person.java). Now we have to use that Person class in our new HW assignment (LoanApplication.java). So if one of the attributes is private Person client do I need to create getter/setters or a constructor again? Otherwise, how does each LoanApplicaiton instance know which Person attribute it is to go with? How does the JVM know that it can use the Person.class even though my LoanApplicaiton.class does not extend Person.class? Thanks.

• JSF Rendering Issue (Page getting cached)

  I am facing a strange issue with JSF. I have developed one controller and bind it to request scope. I need to access one jsf page like http://localhost:8080/selectRule.jsf?type=A and on the same IE session I want to issue another request like http://localhost:8080/selectRule.jsf?type=B as we can see, only the type is changing here. This is why I have a ruleController bound to request scope, so that every request, creates the controller and pulls out the data depending upon type. I have a private HtmlSelectOneMenu choices item in the page. What I see is, somehow only once in the session the getChoices() is getting called. This is what I see For each url, one new ruleController object is getting created. Only first time getChoices() are called. In the subsequent time, if I change the URL in the web browser, the getChoices() method are not getting called though a new controller is getting created. Note: I am using JSF 1.1

• How to call a Zend lucene search function?

  I inherited a Zend project devoid of comments and I didn't get to talk to the previous developer. Since I have no Zend experience I'm having some issues :) I'd like to print out some variables inside an function that indexes items from the site using Zend_Search_Lucene because I think something is going wrong here. From what I've read, ::create creates a new index and ::open updates it. So it's in this ::open function I'd like to print out some variables. The name and params of the function are below. Does anyone have any idea how this function can be called so I can run some tests? private function search($category,$string,$page = 1,$itemsByPage = 5) EDIT: OR, is there a way I can nuke the existing index and force it to be rebuilt completely, for example by deleting the index files on the FS and then performing some searches?

  So most of us know how to access an outer class from an inner class. Searches with those words give oodles of answered questions on that topic. But what I want to know is why the syntax is the way it is. Example: public class A { private class B { public void c() {A.this.d();} } public void d() {System.out.println("You've called d()! Go, you!");} } Why is it A.this.d()? It looks like this is a static field of class A, but... * am confused * Forgive me if this is a repeat; like I said, searches with those words give how-answers.

• Tag property null when data binding

  Can anyone see what is wrong with this?   Hi to all. I'm triying to make a function that add a 'where' clause to a query based in a property and a value. This is a very simplefied version of my function. Private Function simplified(ByVal query As IQueryable(Of T), ByVal PValue As Long, ByVal p As PropertyInfo) As ObjectQuery(Of T) query = query.Where(Function(c) DirectCast(p.GetValue(c, Nothing), Long) = PValue) Dim t = query.ToList 'this line is only for testing, and here is the error raise Return query End Function The error message is: LINQ to Entities does not recognize the method 'System.Object CompareObjectEqual(System.Object, System.Object, Boolean)' method, and this method cannot be translated into a store expression. Looks like a can't use GetValue inside a linq query. Can I achieve this in other way? Post your answer in C#/VB. Chose the one that make you feel more confortable. Thanks

However, when I try something like "www.google.com" it crashes with: No Activity found to handle Intent { act=android.intent.action.VIEW dat=www.google.com } Am I using Uri wrong? Is there a way to extract full address from it? Or am I supposed to write code that adds http manually? e.g, if not starts with http://, add http://. Thanks!

On some systems this is not a problem because the data comes in quickly enough. However, on other systems data in the receive buffer is not complete. How can I append received data to pUartData_c, rather than over-write it. I am using Microsoft Visual C# 2008 Express Edition. Thanks.

  Hello, I'm no Java guy, so I ask myself what this means: public Button(Light light) { this.light = light; } Is Button a method? I ask myself, because it takes an input parameter light. But if it was a method, why would it begin with a capital letter and has no return data type? • Getting a NullReferenceException Error when invoking a Select File Dialog Box

  Hey everyone This is a real newbie question. I have simple app that selects a picture and display's that picture in a PictureBox. I decided to mess with the Opacity Attribute so I added a timer and created this cool effect where the Main Form's Opacity is increased by 20% every 400 miliseconds. The problem is that now when I click the button that invokes the Select File Dialog Box I'm getting a NullReferenceException error. private void tmrClock_Tick(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (ViewerForm.ActiveForm.Opacity != 1) { ActiveForm.Opacity = ActiveForm.Opacity + .20; } } The error message is pointing to the if statement. So say if I put the parameter: http://example.com/uncategorized/ It redirect me to : http://example.com/mature/ The problem is with curl, I dont get any content.. But my aim is to get the content of that page redirect.. Is there an easy way to get the function to work in the way I want..?

  I have the following code that works great but I am trying to modify it so that instead of replacing column 1 of the Index page with a new index I would rather start the range in Cell C11. Right now, the new Index starts in Cell A1 of the Index sheet.
