I have the code written in matlab which uses the conv2 function ... is there a library for C# / .NET that does good high-speed matrix manipulations? I'd be fine if it requires some specific GPU and does the matrix math on-GPU if that's what it takes.

    I noticed that Kohana 3 ORM runs a "SHOW FULL COLUMNS" for each of my models when I start using them: SHOW FULL COLUMNS FROM `mytable` This query might take a few clock cycles to execute (in the Kohana profiler it's actually the slowest of all queries ran in my current app). Is there a way to help Kohana 3 ORM to speed up by disabling this behaviour and explicitly define the columns in my models instead?

    I guess I am not saying it right in the title. What I intend to do is to hook to some system api,like a time interrupt happens every amount of time (which is how every application in the operating system interprets time) and make an application's call to this api return some bigger/smaller result. So from the point view of an applicaiton, time has been speed up or slow down. I have found some application on windows doing this, can anyone gives me some pointers on how to implement this on Mac OS X?

  • PHP Increasing writing to page speed.

    I'm currently writing out xml and have done the following: header ("content-type: text/xml"); header ("content-length: ".strlen($xml)); $xml being the xml to be written out. I'm near about 1.8 megs of text (which I found via firebug), it seems as the writing is taking more time than the script to run.. is there a way to increase this write speed? Thank you in advance.

  • In TCP/IP terms, how does a download speed limiter in an office work?

    Assume an office of people, they want to limit HTTP downloads to a max of 40% bandwidth of their internet connection speed so that it doesn't block other traffic. We say "it's not supported in your firewall", and they say the inevitable line "we used to be able to do it with our Netgear/DLink/DrayTek". Thinking about it, a download is like this: HTTP GET request Server sends file data as TCP packets Client acknowledges receipt of TCP packets Repeat until download finished. The speed is determined by how fast the server sends data to you, and how fast you acknowledge it. So, to limit download speed, you have two choices: 1) Instruct the server to send data to you more slowly - and I don't think there's any protocol feature to request that in TCP or HTTP. 2) Acknowledge packets more slowly by limiting your upload speed, and also ruin your upload speed. How do devices do this limiting? Is there a standard way?

  • Can I increase the link speed of the RAS Server on our MS Win2k3 box?

    We are running a Win2K3 Server box, and I'm a remote employee that connects via VPN. I've been frustrated for some time by the connection speed over the VPN (the office HQ has a decent speed and I have a biz class connection here), and decided to do some checking today. This morning, I was dialed in and looked at the networking tab of the task manager, and I see that the adapter for the RAS Server (the box has 4 Gigabit adapters) has a speed that seems far too low. The speed for the RAS Server link hovers between 300 - 600 Kbps. The local connection (and others) all say 1 Gbps. Can I set this to a higher speed? Is this information accurate? Thanks for the input.

  • PHP File Serving Script: Unreliable Downloads?

    This post started as a question on ServerFault ( http://serverfault.com/questions/131156/user-receiving-partial-downloads ) but I determined that our php script was the culprit. So I'm issuing an updated question here about what I believe is the actual issue. I am using a php script to verify permissions and then serve up a file for users of my website to download. Most of the time, this works, but recently one user has been seeing problems with larger downloads. He is only getting ~80% of downloads for files that are 100MB in size. Also, all downloads from this script fail to report a filesize. Further, tests revealed that the same user COULD reliably download each of the failed files if given a direct link (at which point the filesize is reported). Here's the relevant snippet of code that we are using to serve the file: header("Content-type:$contenttype"); $len = filesize($filename); header("Content-Length: $len"); header("Content-Disposition: attachment; filename=".$title.".".$ext); readfile($filename); Note that $contenttype, $filename, $title, and $ext are all set correctly before we get here. These have been triple-checked. None of them are the problem. Also, $len does provide the correct filesize. While researching this issue, I came across this post: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1334471/content-length-header-always-zero It seems that I am encountering the same issue. When I use the script, I get chunked encoding on the file and no size is set for content-length. I'm hypothesizing that something is going wrong on the large downloads, leading him to get a zero-length chunk before the end of the file.     Hi, I am tasked to provide an IPhone client app for our SaaS website. I have never written an IPhone application, nor do I have an IPhone at the moment. Before I can decide whether or not I want to do this myself or outsource this, I'd like to try a few apps myself to get a feeling for the UI. Is there any IPhone emulator I might use to download and run apps from the App Store? I do have an Intel-based Mac if that helps.
