  • How are DX and DY coordinates calculated in flash?

    - by Meganlee1984
    I'm trying to update a clients site and the original developer left almost no instructions. The code is all updated through XML. Here is a sample of the code enter code here<FOLDER NAME="COMMERCIAL"> <GALLERY NAME="LOCANDA VERDE: New York"> <IMG HEIGHT="500" CAPTION="Some photo" WIDTH="393" SRC="locanda1.jpg" DX="60" DY="40" LINKTEXT="" LINKURL="" INFOTEXT="SOHO, NEW YORK"/> <IMG HEIGHT="300" CAPTION="Some photo" WIDTH="450" SRC="locanda2.jpg" DX="160" DY="80" LINKTEXT="" LINKURL="" INFOTEXT="SOHO, NEW YORK"/> <IMG HEIGHT="500" CAPTION="Some photo" WIDTH="393" SRC="locanda3.jpg" DX="80" DY="260" LINKTEXT="" LINKURL="" INFOTEXT="SOHO, NEW YORK"/> <IMG HEIGHT="500" CAPTION="Some photo" WIDTH="393" SRC="locanda4.jpg" DX="120" DY="60" LINKTEXT="" LINKURL="" INFOTEXT="SOHO, NEW YORK"/> <IMG HEIGHT="393" CAPTION="Some photo" WIDTH="500" SRC="locanda5.jpg" DX="180" DY="100" LINKTEXT="" LINKURL="" INFOTEXT="SOHO, NEW YORK"/> <IMG HEIGHT="500" CAPTION="Some photo" WIDTH="433" SRC="locanda6.jpg" DX="60" DY="140" LINKTEXT="" LINKURL="" INFOTEXT="SOHO, NEW YORK"/> <IMG HEIGHT="500" CAPTION="Some photo" WIDTH="393" SRC="locanda7.jpg" DX="100" DY="200" LINKTEXT="" LINKURL="" INFOTEXT="SOHO, NEW YORK"/> </GALLERY>`enter code here It relates to this page: http://meyerdavis.com/ Click Commercial Click Laconda Verde New York. The xml file pulls a jpg from 2 places, one is a thumb nail that are all 60 x 60 and then one is the bigger sized image. The issue that I'm having is that I can't figure out how the DX and DY coordinates are generated for each item. Any help would be much appreciated. ` Edit: Here's the code from the comment below. platformblock.expandspeed = 0.02; platformblock.h = 450 - platformblock.dy1; //platformblock.h = 402; platformblock.dy2 = 0; platformblock.onResize(); /**/ platformblock.onEnterFrame = function() { this.dy1 += (48 - this.dy1)*this.expandspeed; this.h = 450 - this.dy1; if(this.expandspeed<0.3) { this.expandspeed += 0.02; } if(Math.abs(this.dy1-48)<0.2) { this.dy1 = 48; } if(this.platform._height==402 && this.dy1==48){ this.h = null; this.onResize(); this.onEnterFrame = null; } } platformblock._resizeto(800, 402, _root.play, _root, 0.08); titleblockcontainer.play(); /**/ stop();

  • Tag Cloud JS + Flash. Actual Tags In Cloud Not Clickable?

    - by Alex
Hello all, I've implemented a tag cloud on a site of mine, and I'm using a JS script to populate it, but for some reason, the actual text in the tag cloud is not clickable. It displays and works correctly, but the actual text of the cloud is not getting treated as a link for some odd reason. My question is: In my script below, do you see anything that I need to fix in order to make my tag cloud's text actually be links? The site I've implemented it on is a stackexhange site that I run, it is supposed to be a cloud of the "recent tags." CloudPopulator.js <script type="text/javascript"> var divRecentTags = document.getElementById("recent-tags"); if (divRecentTags) { var cloud = new SWFObject("some/swfObject/url", "tagcloudflash", "200", "200", "9", "#ffffff"); cloud.addParam("allowScriptAccess", "always"); cloud.addVariable("tcolor", "0x0a94d6"); cloud.addVariable("tcolor2", "0xC0C0C0"); cloud.addVariable("hicolor", "0x000000"); cloud.addVariable("tspeed", "150"); cloud.addVariable("distr", "true"); cloud.addVariable("mode", "tags"); var aTags = divRecentTags.getElementsByTagName("a"); var tagHtml = ""; for(var i = 0; i < aTags.length; i++) { var hrefText = aTags[i].getAttribute("href"); var cssText = aTags[i].className; var tagName = $(aTags[i]).text(); var styleText = "style=\'font-size: 8pt;\'"; if (cssText == "post-tag pop1") { var styleText = "style=\'font-size: 15pt;\'"; } else if (cssText == "post-tag pop2") { var styleText = "style=\'font-size: 22pt;\'"; } var newLinkText = "<a href=\'"+hrefText+"\'"+styleText+">"+tagName+"</a>"; tagHtml = tagHtml + newLinkText; } cloud.addVariable("tagcloud", escape("<tags>" + tagHtml + "</tags>")); cloud.write("recent-tags"); } </script>

  • How do you handle live video streaming in Flash AS3?

    - by CodeJustin.com
I've been dabbling with socket servers in Java and now I'm ready to get my feet wet with an idea I had. I would like to use python for my socket server and obviously AS3 for my client. I'm able to create a full chat using my own python socket server but I'm almost clueless what to do now that I want to add in LIVE video (want to make it a live video "chat"). I've found tutorials but they are for FMS and I can not afford that, also Red5 looked nice but couldn't find a live video tutorial off hand (plus I would have to switch to Red5 from my own socket server). So if someone could even nudge me into some resources on the subject (the subject of live video without using FMS) that would be very helpful, Google is failing me right now.

  • Flash - Http service bound to a button can be used only once ?

    - by SAKIROGLU Koray
I have a flex project, in one of the screen of my UI, I create a HTTP service that call a "doGet" J2EE servlet through the GET method; and I bind the service call to a button. The service print log to system.out so I know when it is run. The problem I have is, when I click said button the first time, the servlets do what it is supposed to do, and print the stack to system.out, but if I click another time, nothing happens. Any idea what might be the cause ? Here's the flex code (code and service has been generated by Eclipse flex plugin) <mx:Script> <![CDATA[ protected function button_clickHandler(event:MouseEvent):void { LaunchSimulResult.token = simulation.LaunchSimul(); } ]]> </mx:Script> <mx:Canvas> ... <mx:Button label="Simulation" id="button" click="button_clickHandler(event)"/> .. </mx:Canvas> <mx:CallResponder id="LaunchSimulResult"/> <simulation:Simulation id="simulation" fault="Alert.show(event.fault.faultString + '\n' + event.fault.faultDetail)" showBusyCursor="true"/>

  • Can I view a list of public variables of some Adobe Air app or web flash file from another app?

    - by Parris
I was thinking about creating making AIM pluggin that checks pandora one (desktop) or pandora website periodically to see what is currently playing and update a user's status. I suppose the main question is there a clever way to access a "public" variable from some open Adobe Air process? I KNOW this sounds like some crazy security flaw, but it may also be a feature. I am pretty sure javascript can potentially handle it. Thanks!

  • I'm trying to make lots of the same object appear randomly on the screen subject to conditions and k

    - by Katsideswide
Hi! A good friend recommended this site to me, it looks really useful! I'm a bit of a shameless noob at actionscript and after 3 days of tutorials and advice I've hit a brick wall. I've managed to get a sensor attached to an arduino talking to flash using something called AS3glue. it works, when i set up a trace("leaf") for the contition that the sensor reads 0, i get a printout of the word "leaf". however i want the program to make a graphic appear on the screen when this condition is met, not just trace something. I'm trying to get the program to generate a library object called "Enemy" on the screen at a random position each time the conditions are met. It's called enemy because I was following a game tutorial...actually it's a drawing of a leaf. Here's the bit of the code which is causing me problems: var army:Array; var enemy:Enemy; function AvoiderGame() { army = new Array(); var newEnemy = new Enemy( 100, 100 ); army.push( newEnemy ); addChild( newEnemy ); } function timerEvent(event:Event):void { if (a.getAnalogData(0) ==0 && a.getAnalogData(0) != this.lastposition){ trace("leaf"); var randomX:Number = (Math.random() * 200) + 100; var randomY:Number = (Math.random() * 150) + 50; var newEnemy = new Enemy( randomX, randomY); army.push( newEnemy ); addChild( newEnemy ); } else if (a.getAnalogData(0) == 0) { //don't trace anything } else { //don't trace anything } this.lastposition = a.getAnalogData(0); //afterwards, set the position to be the new lastposition and repeat. } I've imported "import flash.display.MovieClip;" and the code for the Enemy class looks like this: package { import flash.display.MovieClip; public class Enemy extends MovieClip { public function Enemy( startX:Number, startY:Number ) { x = startX; y = startY; } } } Here's my error. I've tried googling, it seems like a pretty general error: TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. at as3glue_program_fla::MainTimeline/timerEvent() at flash.utils::Timer/_timerDispatch() at flash.utils::Timer/tick() I've made sure that the "Enemy" object is exported for AS3. I'm going for something like this when it's programmed in AS2: leafCounter = 0; //set the counter to 0 counter.swapDepths(1000); //puts the counter on top of pretty much anything, unless you make more than 1000 leaves! counter.textbox.text = 0; //shows "0" in the text box in the "counter" movie clip this.onMouseDown = function() { //triggers when the mouse is clicked this.attachMovie("Leaf","Leaf"+leafCounter,leafCounter,{_x:Math.random()*Stage.width,_y:Math.random()*Stage.height,_rotation:Math.random()*360}); //adds a leaf to rthe stage with a random position and random rotation leafCounter++; //adds 1 to the leaf counter counter.textbox.text = leafCounter; //shows that number in the text box } I'm sure it must be a simple error, I can get the logic working when it just traces something on the screen but i can't get it to generate an "enemy" Any help or hints would be really useful! I know this is a bit of a ham-fisted job of altering existing code.

  • Flex/Flash: Don't show 'bar' cursor when dragging over a TextField/TextArea?

    - by David Wolever
As the title suggests, how can I prevent the "bar" cursor from appearing when I click-and-drag over a TextField? For example, consider this interaction: I'd like to prevent the cursor changing to the "bar" in step "2". How can I do that? I've tried fiddling with the selectable flag: protected static function fixMouseOverAfordance(field:TextField):void { var iOwnClick:Boolean = false; function handleMouseOver(event:MouseEvent):void { if (event.buttonDown) { field.selectable = iOwnClick; } else { field.selectable = true; iOwnClick = false; } } field.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER, handleMouseOver, false, EventPriority.CURSOR_MANAGEMENT+1); field.addEventListener(MouseEvent.ROLL_OVER, handleMouseOver, false, EventPriority.CURSOR_MANAGEMENT+1); field.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_MOVE, handleMouseOver, false, EventPriority.CURSOR_MANAGEMENT+1); field.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, function(event:MouseEvent):void { iOwnClick = true; field.selectable = true; }); } But the "bar" cursor still appears the first time the mouse is moved over the text field (however, after it has been moved out then moved back in, it does the right thing).

  • Flash: How to dispatch a click event at the top of a loaded .swf?

    - by Myk
So I'm trying to build a tool that will allow me and other users to all open the same .swf, and then I as the Admin user am able to interact with mine while they all see my mouse movements and button clicks etc on theirs. I'm using BlazeDS to manage this and I'm getting data sent back and forth etc - no difficulties there. The issue I'm running into is this: In an "Admin" instance, I click a button. I capture that X and Y, then tell Blaze to tell my clients to dispatch a Click event at that X and Y. On my client side, I get that data and dispatch a Click event at that X and Y - but the click is actually caught at the stage level. The click on my client side takes place UNDER all of my buttons and other content - so the whole thing fails. Does this make sense? Is there a way to tell it to start the click event at the top?

  • how to find specific XML data by attribute name/value in flash AS2?

    - by CCrawler
Given the following XML code: <set name="thumbsBooks"> <set name="pdf"> <thumb>Data I want to access</thumb> <thumb>Data I want to access</thumb> </set> <set name="printed"> <thumb>Data I don't want to access</thumb> <thumb>Data I don't want to access</thumb> </set> <set> I want to be able to get the data contained in the "thumb" tags using the "name" attribute value of the parent tag as a selector, something like you would do in jQuery: $('set[name="pdf"]').find('thumb'); Is there a method like this in Action Script 2 (can't use AS3)?
