  i am inserting values into a table if the record exists already replace it, and if it does not exist then add a new one. so far i have this code: INSERT INTO table_name VALUES (value1, value2, value3,...) where pk="some_id"; but i need something like this if not pk="some_id" exists then INSERT INTO table_name VALUES (value1, value2, value3,...) where pk="some_id"; else update table_name where pk="some_id" what would be the correct SQL syntax for this? please note that i am using sql access and that i guess it can be a combination of vba and sql

  I am new to postgresql (and databases in general) and was hoping to get some pointers on improving the efficiency of the following statement. I am inserting data from one table to another, and do not want to insert duplicate values. I have a rid (unique identifier in each table) that are indexed and are Primary Keys. I am currently using the following statement: Insert INTO table1 SELECT * FROM table2 WHERE rid NOT IN (SELECT rid FROM table1). As of now the table one is 200,000 records, table2 is 20,000 records. Table1 is going to keep growing (probably to around 2,000,000) and table2 will stay around 20,000 records. As of now the statement takes about 15 minutes to run. I am concerned that as Table1 grows this is going to take way to long. Any suggestions?

MS-Access DB. i do: INSERT INTO Orders (userId) VALUES (123)" what i want to retrieve is orderNumber from that row. its an auto-increment number. so i did: SELECT orderNumber FROM Orders WHERE userId=123 but since it is on the same page, the SELECT returns: Either BOF or EOF is True, or the current record has been deleted. • IDENTITY_INSERT ON inside of cursor does not allow inserted id

  I am trying to set some id's for a bunch of rows in a database where the id column is an identity. I've created a cursor to loop through the rows and update the ids with incrementing negative numbers (-1,-2,-3 etc). When I updated just one row turning on the IDENTITY_INSERT it worked fine but as soon as I try and use it in a cursor, it throws the following error. For the security issues, our current DB design is like user log into app. DB returns a session ID On use of any other stored procedures, a session ID must be specified. BUT, the DB didn't request session ID before. since I am using the datasets, I used update/insert/delete stored procedures with "TableAdaptor Configuration Wizard". Bind Commands to Existing Stored Procedures (choose stored procedures to call and specify any reuiqred parameters) Now, it seems like I have to specify session ID for Insert/Update/Delete stored procedures. How do I specify session ID parameter here? It seems like I have to pick one return parameter variable from a select statement. Thanks,

DdlUtils allows me to create an XML file from a database model but I would like to have it in INSERT statements format and preferably the ability to choose a couple of tables instead of dumping the entire database.   I need to add multiple records based on data from another table where the event is the same. I've found on this forum insert into table2(id,name) select "001",first_name from table1 where table1.id="001" as possible solution for my question. So I thought this should be the following syntax: insert into reservations(event,seat) select "99",id from seats where seats.id>0 to add all seats to event 99. However when I run this query mysql gives the message 'MySQL returned an empty resultset (0 rows). (query 0.0028 sec)' and no records were added. I translated the message so could be sligthly different. When I only use the "select "99",id from seats where seats.id0" query, it returns me 1080 rows.

  My Dell XPS 15 (haswell) was working fine until I stupidly accepted recently to apply Ubuntu updates. Since then, my wifi does not work (it shows "device not managed" when clicking wifi icon in toolbar). Even USB to Ethernet adapter does not seem to work. Bluetooth at least "sees" other bluetooth devices around...   There is a new update for jtreg 4.1, b04, available. The primary changes have been to support faster and more reliable test runs, especially for tests in the jdk/ repository. [ For users inside Oracle, there is preliminary direct support for gathering code coverage data using jcov while running tests, and for generating a coverage report when all the tests have been run. ] -- jtreg can be downloaded from the OpenJDK jtreg page: http://openjdk.java.net/jtreg/. Scratch directories On platforms like Windows, if a test leaves a file open when the test is over, that can cause a problem for downstream tests, because the scratch directory cannot be emptied beforehand. This is addressed in agentvm mode by discarding any agents using that scratch directory and starting new agents using a new empty scratch directory. Successive directives use suffices _1, _2, etc. If you see such directories appearing in the work directory, that is an indication that files were left open in the preceding directory in the series. Locking support Some tests use shared system resources such as fixed port numbers. This causes a problem when running tests concurrently. So, you can now mark a directory such that all the tests within all such directories will be run sequentially, even if you use -concurrency:N on the command line to run the rest of the tests in parallel. This is seen as a short term solution: it is recommended that tests not use shared system resources whenever possible. If you are running multiple instances of jtreg on the same machine at the same time, you can use a new option -lock:file to specify a file to be used for file locking; otherwise, the locking will just be within the JVM used to run jtreg. "autovm mode" By default, if no options to the contrary are given on the command line, tests will be run in othervm mode. Now, a test suite can be marked so that the default execution mode is "agentvm" mode. In conjunction with this, you can now mark a directory such that all the tests within that directory will be run in "othervm" mode. Conceptually, this is equivalent to putting /othervm on every appropriate action on every test in that directory and any subdirectories. This is seen as a short term solution: it is recommended tests be adapted to use agentvm mode, or use "@run main/othervm" explicitly. Info in test result files The user name and jtreg version info are now stored in the properties near the beginning of the .jtr file. Build The makefiles used to build and test jtreg have been reorganized and simplified. jtreg is now using JT Harness version 4.4. Other jtreg provides access to GNOME_DESKTOP_SESSION_ID when set. jtreg ensures that shell tests are given an absolute path for the JDK under test. jtreg now honors the "first sentence rule" for the description given by @summary. jtreg saves the default locale before executing a test in samevm or agentvm mode, and restores it afterwards. Bug fixes jtreg tried to execute a test even if the compilation failed in agentvm mode because of a JVM crash. jtreg did not correctly handle the -compilejdk option. • [Windows 8] Update TextBox’s binding on TextChanged

  Since UpdateSourceTrigger is not available in WinRT we cannot update the text’s binding of a TextBox at will (or at least not easily) especially when using MVVM (I surely don’t want to write behind-code to do that in each of my apps !).
