• How to include js file in ajax call?

But these methods and functions are not getting called properly as java script files are not getting included through ajax call. BUT I do not know how to send data reusing the same TCP from browser to server. so there is not the 3 way handshake and only 2 tcp packets.   We're seeing lots of virtual memory fragmentation and out of memory errors and then it hits the 3GB limit. The compilation debug is set to true in the web.config but I get different answers from everyone i ask, does debug set to true cause each aspx to compile into random areas of ram thus fragmenting that ram and eventually causing out of memory problems?

• using respond_to format.js to replace the content of a textarea on rails

  I have some saved text in my create controller. If it's not stressful, I'd like it to populate a textarea on the page with the saved text along with displaying the error message fields (which is what's already happening). I've used things like replace_html before, but I don't know if there's an easy way to get to textarea or text field IDs and just replace the value of the text. For now I'm just going to do some javascript but it would be nice to know the rails shortcut. edit: I wasn't in the right mindset because this app uses extjs and was trying to figure out how to do it this way. The text box is actually an ext status bar (same as here : http://www.extjs.com/deploy/dev/examples/statusbar/statusbar-demo.html ) which doesn't get created until the page is finished loading. When I try to enter commnands like the first poster suggested, I get "setvalue is not a function". Playing with firebug on the page I can get it to set the value after loading by using (whatever method to get it through ext or scriptaculous).value = "lol" but none of the page update things work with this.

• How do I escape a string for a shell command in nodejs (V8 Javascript engine)?

  In nodejs, the only way to execute external commands is via sys.exec(cmd). I'd like to call an external command and give it data via stdin. In nodejs there does yet not appear to be a way to open a command and then push data to it (only to exec and receive its standard+error outputs), so it appears the only way I've got to do this right now is via a single string command such as: var dangerStr = "bad stuff here"; sys.exec("echo '" + dangerStr + "' | somecommand"); Most answers to questions like this have focused on either regex which doesn't work for me in nodejs (which uses Google's V8 Javascript engine) or native features from other languages like Python. I'd like to escape dangerStr so that it's safe to compose an exec string like the one above. If it helps, dangerStr will contain JSON data.

  We're using Backbone.js in one of my team's projects, and this is the first time I use it.   Data may be read from or written to a connected TCP socket using the receive(), async_receive(), send() or async_send() member functions. However, as these could result in short writes or reads, an application will typically use the following operations instead: read(), async_read(), write() and async_write(). I don't really understand that remark as read(), async_read(), write() and async_write() can also end up in short writes or reads, right? Why are those functions not the same? Should I use them at all? Can someone clarify that remark for me?

  A webapp has as a central component a relatively heavy algorithm that handles geometric operations. There are 2 solutions to make the whole thing accessible from both high-end machines and relatively slower mobile devices. I will use RPC's if i detect that the user machine is ''slow'' or else if i detect that the user machine can handle it OK, then i provide to the webapp the script to handle it client side. Now what would be a reliable way to detect the speed of the user machine? I was thinking of providing a sample script as a test when the page loads and detect the time it took to execute that. Any ideas?

• JS Framework that doesn't use CSS selectors?

  A thing that I noticed about most JavaScript frameworks is that the most common way to find/access the DOM elements is to use CSS selectors. However this usually requires the framework to include a CSS selector parser, because they need to support selectors, that the browser natively doesn't, foremost the frameworks own proprietary extensions. I would think that these parsers are large and slow. Wouldn't it be more efficient to have something that doesn't require a parser, such a chained method calls? Some like: id("example").children().class("test").hasAttribute("href") instead of $("#example > .test[href]") Are there any frameworks around that do something like this? And how do they compare with jQuery and friends in regard to performance and size? EDIT: You can consider this a theoretical discussion topic. I don't plan to use anything other than jQuery in any practical projects in near furure. I was just wondering why there aren't any other, possibly better approaches.

• Hibernate many-to-one - bad usage?

  Just trying out Hibernate (with Annotations) and I'm having problems with my mappings. I have two entity classes, AudioCD and Artist. @Entity public class AudioCD implements CatalogItem { @Id @GeneratedValue(strategy = GenerationType.AUTO) private int id; private String title; @ManyToOne(cascade = { CascadeType.ALL }, optional = false) private Artist artist; .... } @Entity @Table(uniqueConstraints = { @UniqueConstraint(columnNames = { "name" }) }) public class Artist { @Id @GeneratedValue(strategy = GenerationType.AUTO) private int id; @Column(nullable = false) private String name; ..... } I get AudioCD objects from an external source. When I try to persist the AudioCD the Artist gets persisted as well, just like I want to happen. If I try persisting another different CD, but Artist already exists I get errors due to constraint violations. I want Hibernate to recognise that the Artist already exists and shouldn't be inserted again. Can this be done via annotations? Or do I have to manage the persistence of the AudioCD and Artist seperately?

• JavaScript: How to download JS asynchronously?

  On my web site, I'm trying to accomplishes the fastest page load as possible. I've noticed that it appears my JavaScript are not loading asynchronously. Picture linked below. How my web site works is that it needs to load two external JavaScript files: Google Maps v3 JavaScript, and JQuery JavaScript Once it loads these external javascript files, it then, and only then, can dynamically render the page. The reason why my page can't load until both Google Maps and JQuery are loaded is that - my page, based on the geolocation (using Gmaps) of the user will then display the page based on where they are located (e.g. New York, San Francisco, etc). Meaning, two people in different cities viewing my site will see different frontpages. Question: How can I get my JavaScript files to download asynchronously so that my overall page load time is quicker?

  Hi everyone, I am working on developing a Travel website which uses XML API's to get the data. However i am relatively new to XML and outputting it. I have been experimenting with using PHP to output a test XML file, but currently the furthest iv got is to only output a few records. As it the questions states i need to know which technology will be best for this project. Below iv included some points to take into consideration. • Internet Explore works very slowly executing JS code

  There is a page that uses PHP to fetch search results from Google Search API and then it puts the results on the page some funny way in a circle. Code and may look crappy but seems that it works more or less fine in Firefox. When you enter a search query and click submit button or Next/Previous links, it fills the wheel with results. The problem is its work in IE. It works there very slowly and then it doesn't clear the wheel before filling in new data, but puts it over that. My friend asked me to help him with this code. Please give me a piece of advice how I can fix it. Thanks so much!

• JavaScript apparently waits for each AJAX call before sending another in a loop

Straight to the point: I have this javascript: for(item=1;item<5;item++) { xmlhttp=new XMLHttpRequest(); xmlhttp.open("GET",'zzz.php', true); xmlhttp.send(); } And in PHP file something like this: usleep(5);die('ok'); Now the problem is javascript seems to be waiting for each ajax call to be completed before sending another one. So the first response gets back after approx. 5 seconds, next after 10 seconds and so on. That's a very simplified version of what I do, since the real script involves using cURL in PHP and jQuery as JS lib. But the problem remains the same. Why do responses come back in 5 second intervals?

• nodejs, mongodb - How do I operate on data from multiple queries?

  Hi all, I'm new to JS in general, but I am trying to query some data from MongoDB. Basically, my first query retrieves information for the session with the specified session id. The second query does a simple geospacial query for documents with a location near the specified location. I'm using the mongodb-native javascript driver. All of these query methods return their results in callbacks, so they're non-blocking. This is the root of my troubles. What I'm needing to do is retrieve the results of the second query, and create an Array of sessionIds of all the returned documents. Then I'm going to pass those to a function later. But, I can't generate this array and use it anywhere outside the callback. Does anyone have any idea how to properly do this? http://dpaste.org/wXiE/

In the program I use alot of Pointer* = new Something; if (Pointer == NULL) throw AllocationError(); My question is about allocation errors: 1. is there an autamtic exception thrown by new when allocation fails? 2. if so how can I catch it if I'm not using STL (#include "exception.h) 3. is using the NULL testing enugh? thank you.   I am trying to redirect a page reading the url from the config file.
