• Does IBM use Dojo Toolkit?

  I was told IBM no-longer uses Dojo. Is this true? A small amount of web searching shows IBM is/was a member of the Dojo Foundation and is/was a code contributor... If it is true, approximately when did IBM stop using Dojo? If its not, to what extend is IBM still actively using and promoting the toolkit (use in their public web sites, product integration/bundling, etc)?

  I logged into my MSDN subscription (Premium) today to download the new expression studio, and I noticed that unlike Expression 3, it requires you to enter a key, and they only provide 1. Previously I installed Expression 3 on 2 computer, my home and my work computer. So my question is, is this no longer allowed? or is it a key that can be used multiple times?

• Double request from mod-rewrite

  I've written a module that sets Apache environment variables to be used by mod-rewrite. It hooks into ap_hook_post_read_request() and that works fine, but if mod-rewrite matches a RewriteRule then it makes a second call to my request handler with the rewritten URL. This looks like a new request to me in that the environment variables are no longer set and therefore I have to execute my (expensive) code twice for each hit. What am I doing wrong, or is there a work around for this? Thanks

  For a web application I switched from using ASP.NET Membership to using my own log in system which just does something like this to mark a user as logged in: Session["UserId"] = User.Id Is it possible to store the user id in the ASPXAUTH cookie, piggybacking on its encryption, instead of using the standard session? The goal is for the logged in state to last longer than a session and survive both browser and server restarts.

  After I get 3 rows in my forum_threads table this no longer does it's job; to organize a list of active forum threads and put the most recently responded-to thread at the top of the list, followed by second most recent posted-to thread, followed by third, fourth, etc. Like I said, the query works wonders up until there is a fourth row added to forum_threads.   Is it possible to have Django automatically delete formsets that are not present in the request? So for example if I had three inline formsets represented in HTML when I loaded my edit page and I use javascript to remove two of those when the request is processes Django sees that those two forms are no longer their and deletes them.

• Network.downloadfile is very slow

  I have tried using the My.Computer.Network.DownloadFile method but unfortunately it is slow. Executing the simple command below takes ~5-10 secs, which I would say is a lot longer than expected for downloading a 9 kb file. `My.Computer.Network.DownloadFile("http://www.google.dk", "j:\temp\test.html")` I am connecting via a high-speed connection (10GB) from a Win7 machine. Do anyone know of any explanations for this behavior? Hope that you can help me out with this. Kristoffer

• UIDatePicker inside UIScrollView with pages

  I have a UIScrollView with 2 pages, and I can scroll horizontally between them. However, on one of my pages, I have a UIDatePicker, and the scroll view is intercepting the vertical touch events so I can no longer manipulate the date picker (except by clicking or tapping). Is there some way to tell the ScrollView to send the vertical touch events to the date picker, but send the horizontal touch events to the scroll view to switch pages?

• issue while synchronising PHP (reading file) and Ajax (jquery ui slider)

  Hello, I got an issue while trying to display a jquery UI slider with its range based on a values read with PHP from a text file. Its seems that it's a syncrhonising issue as I get the error: "An attempt was made to use an object that is not, or is no longer, usable" code: 11" Is there a way I can force the jquery UI slider to wait for the value to be present or to work in synchrone mode ? At what point do you no longer consider someone a beginner (ie knowledge of loops, encapsulation, instantiation), an intermediate (design patterns, reflection, delegates, interfaces) or an expert (architecture, multi-threadding). My rational for asking such a question is two-fold, first, when do I stop labeling my questions as beginner and during a job interview how should I categorize myself?

  Pitch means "perceived frequency". Nice. But when I make pitch very low in OpenAL, sound plays a lot of times longer. If I make it very high, sound plays very short but with high frequency. For me, logically the consequence of making slower or faster. Or is pitch != speed?

• SVN: Prevent a newer client from upgrading a working copy's SVN version?

  Is it possible to prevent a newer SVN client (say 1.6) from automatically upgrading a working copy that was checked out with an older client (say 1.4 or 1.5)? I find that as soon as I touch a working copy with a newer client, anyone using an older client to work with the same files can no longer do so (for obvious reasons). Assuming requiring everyone to upgrade their SVN clients isn't an option, is there a configuration setting or flag I can set to prevent my newer client from making this change?

  Hi, is it legal to remove the logo/terms of use link displayed on my integrated google map (google maps premier)? The problem is that when I zoom into the map, the link tends to get longer and loger and overlays the whole website which is pretty ugly. Of course it is possible to give the div container a "overflow: hidden;" flag which helps a little. But it is still not satisfying. Thx

  In non-ARC code retained properties handily take care of memory management for you using the self.property = syntax, so we were taught to use them for practically everything. But now with ARC this memory management is no longer an issue, so does the reason for using properties evaporate? is there still any good reason (obviously other than providing public access to instance variables) to use properties anymore?

• Why doesn't Oracle SQL allow us to use column aliases in GROUP BY clauses?

  This is a situation I'm generally facing while writing SQL queries. I think that writing the whole column (e.g. long case expressions, sum functions with long parameters) instead of aliases in GROUP BY expressions makes the query longer and less readable. Why doesn't Oracle SQL allow us to use the column aliases in GROUP BY clause? There must be an important reason behind it.
