  • scala currying by nested functions or by multiple parameter lists

    - by Morgan Creighton
In Scala, I can define a function with two parameter lists. def myAdd(x :Int)(y :Int) = x + y This makes it easy to define a partially applied function. val plusFive = myAdd(5) _ But, I can accomplish something similar by defining and returning a nested function. def myOtherAdd(x :Int) = { def f(y :Int) = x + y f _ } Cosmetically, I've moved the underscore, but this still feels like currying. val otherPlusFive = myOtherAdd(5) What criteria should I use to prefer one approach over the other?

  • How to fill byte array with junk?

    - by flyout
I am using this: byte[] buffer = new byte[10240]; As I understand this initialize the buffer array of 10kb filled with 0s. Whats the fastest way to fill this array (or initialize it) with junk data every time? I need to use that array like 5000 times and fill it every time with different junk data, that's why I am looking for a fast method to do it. The array size will also have to change every time.

  • Eclipse: Nested Editor Tabs?

    - by Wilco
Is anyone aware of any method (or external plugin) that would allow for nested editor tabs? It would be nice to be able to group related open files into their own "master" tabs, but I'm not sure if this is even possible. Any ideas?

  • How do I nested options for plugins in jQuery

    - by Oscar Godson
I know how to do plugins, but how do I do nested options like: var defaults = { spacing:10, shorten_to:50, from_start:0, from_end:2, classes: { test:'testing' } }; i know that isn't right, i just dont know how to write the proper syntax when I want to do something like this: $('#breadcrumbs').breadcrumbs({classes{test:'new_example'},spacing:12}) other suggestions are welcome, im in need of the ability to custom class names and there are 7, so rather than making something like test_class, example_class, etc id like it cleaner and neater like the example above.

Hi, what is the difference between following function declarations, which create and return the array in C/C++? Both methods create the array and fill it with proper values and returns true if everything passed. bool getArray(int* array); bool getArray(int* array[]); Thanks Best Regards, STeN

  • Nested Model Form p1 Railscasts example

    - by arzon
Has anyone managed to make the example at http://railscasts.com/episodes/196-nested-model-form-part-1 work? When I followed through the sample, it never saves any question nor the answer to the database but it manages to create a new survey entry. I am using: Rails 2.3.5 ruby 1.8.6 (2008-08-11 patchlevel 287) [i386-mswin32] nifty-generators (0.4.0)

  • Grouping php array items based on user and created time

    - by Jim
This is an array of objects showing a user uploading photos: Array ( [12] => stdClass Object ( [type] => photo [created] => 2010-05-14 23:36:41 [user] => stdClass Object ( [id] => 760 [username] => mrsmith ) [photo] => stdClass Object ( [id] => 4181 ) ) [44] => stdClass Object ( [type] => photo [created] => 2010-05-14 23:37:15 [user] => stdClass Object ( [id] => 760 [username] => mrsmith ) [photo] => stdClass Object ( [id] => 4180 ) ) ) However instead of showing: mr smith uploaded one photo mr smith uploaded one photo I'd like to display: mr smith uploaded two photos by grouping similar items, grouping by user ID and them having added them within, let's say 15 minutes of each other. So I'd like to get the array in this sort of shape: Array ( [12] => stdClass Object ( [type] => photo [created] => 2010-05-14 23:36:41 [user] => stdClass Object ( [id] => 760 [username] => mrsmith ) [photos] => Array ( [0] => stdClass Object ( [id] => 4181 ) [1] => stdClass Object ( [id] => 4180 ) ) ) ) preserving the first item of the group and it's created time, and supplementing it with any other groupable photos and then unsetting any items that were grouped (so the final array doesn't have key 44 anymore as it was grouped in with 12). The array contains other actions than just photos, hence the original keys of 12 and 44. I just can't figure out a way to do this efficiently. I used to use MySQL and PHP to do this but am trying to just use pure PHP for caching reasons. Can anyone shed any insights? I thought about going through each item and seeing if I can group it with the previous one in the array but the previous one might not necessarily be relevant or even a photo. I've got total brain freeze :(

  • C array assignment and indexing with similar variable.

    - by Todd R.
Hello! I apologize if this has been posted before. Compiling under two separate compilers, BCC 5.5 and LCC, yields 0 and 1. #include <stdio.h> int main(void) { int i = 0, array[2] = {0, 0}; array[i] = ++i; printf("%d\n", array[1]); } Am I to assume not all compilers evaluate expressions within an array from right to left?

  • Rails method as a nested resource

    - by Blastula
Hello, I'm wondering about the clever way to do this... I have methods that return a value when passed an an object as parameter, such as: <%= average_rainfall(@location) % I'd like to use the exact same methods as a nested resource to call via jQuery/Ajax, like so: .load('/location/8/average_rainfall') I understand how to define the route, but how do I tell my method to 'find' /location/8 and use that as it's parameter instead of @location as expected? Thanks!

  • wxpython - Nested Notebooks

    - by madtowneast
I have been trying to make my nested notebooks a little bit more appealing code wise. At the moment, I got this #!/usr/bin/env python import os import sys import datetime import numpy as np from readmonifile import MonitorFile from sortmonifile import sort import wx class NestedPanelOne(wx.Panel): #---------------------------------------------------------------------- # First notebook that creates the tab to select the component number #---------------------------------------------------------------------- def __init__(self, parent, label, data): wx.Panel.__init__(self, parent=parent, id=wx.ID_ANY) sizer = wx.BoxSizer(wx.VERTICAL) #Loop creating the tabs according to the component name nestedNotebook = wx.Notebook(self, wx.ID_ANY) for slabel in sorted(data[label].keys()): tab = NestedPanelTwo(nestedNotebook, label, slabel, data) nestedNotebook.AddPage(tab, slabel) sizer = wx.BoxSizer(wx.VERTICAL) sizer.Add(nestedNotebook, 1, wx.ALL|wx.EXPAND, 5) self.SetSizer(sizer) class NestedPanelTwo(wx.Panel): #------------------------------------------------------------------------------ # Is there a way around this? Thanks a bunch in advance.

  • Sum up values in an array list in java

    - by user1449997
Hello to all tired and frustrated programmers, There is a problem I can't solve: In my array list there are Object arrays with the length of three and always on the last cell of the array there is a double. I need a loop which goes through the array list and sums up all doubles. (I need also some other thing from the arrays so a general idea how to loop through an array list would be perfect :-)) Any ideas? Thanks for your help, Greetings Demian

  • Segment string into array, regex?

    - by Hanpan
I have a string which looks like this: "[segment1][segment2][segment2]" What I'd like is to be able to split the string into an array, so I'd end up with: Array[0] = "segment1", Array[1] = "segment2", Array[2] = "segment3" I've tried using the string split function, but it doesn't seem to do exactly what I want. I was wondering if anyone has some regex which might help me out? Thanks in advance

  • WPF: Is VerticalAlignment inherited by nested containers?

    - by zxcvbnm
I'd like to have the nested containers inherit that property, but when I set it in the outermost one I'm not sure if it's working. It either is working but I'm not getting the results I want, or maybe I'd have to set up a property somewhere for it to carry. Assuming that a) it is possible to do it and b) I'd have to change a property somewhere, would that have any side effects I should be aware of?
