• SQLAuthority News – Great Time Spent at Great Indian Developers Summit 2014

  The Great Indian Developer Conference (GIDS) is one of the most popular annual event held in Bangalore. This year GIDS is scheduled on April 22, 25. • Working as an entry .Net Developer in the USA [closed]

  I just have a question about .net entry level jobs in VA. I am a master degree student in field of software engineering but I am graduated from department of physics. I decided to work on Java first, but I have changed my mind because I don't have any Java programming background except Java class in master degree so I decided to work on C# because it was easy to me to work with Visual Studio and it's fun to me to work with SQL database and HTML stuffs. And I am a member of a IT consultant company in Reston where I took course from there about .net and I created online recruitment system for their web site. Now I am applying for CPT (internship) but I didn't work in a company as a .net developer so I don't have experience. Here is my question. If I get CPT and find a job, what do software companies want from an entry level .net developer? and what do they ask as interview questions?

  I am using postfix and dovecot along with zpanel and I tried enabling SSL and then turned it off as I did not have SSL configured yet and I realized it was a bit stupid at the time. I am using CentOS 6.4. I get the following error in the mail log. • Is it possible to add registry entries to the wine registry and make illustrator work?

  I haven't done this kind of work before but I really need Adobe Illustrator to get work on ubuntu! I don't care if it is cs3 or 4. I have installed CS3 and 4 master collection on windows and with wine on ubuntu can't run it (yes, no registry entries added to the wine!) I can copy all the needed file to the /home/prasad/.wine/dosdevices/C: directory with hidden files included, but how to add registry entries to them? (windows registry editor like thing to wine) is it possible to make illustrator run in ubuntu like that, i tried to install Master collection but it failed number of times. I use ubuntu 10.10

• Good practice about Javascript referencing

  I am fighting about a web application script optimization. I have an ASP.NET web app that reference jQuery in the master page, and in every child page can reference other library or JavaScript extension. I would like to optimize the application with YUI for .NET. The question is, I should put all the libraries reference in the master page or to compress all the JavaScript code in a single file, or I should create a file for every page that contains only the code useful to the page? Is there any guidance to follow? Thanks!

• Correcting color-shifted mirrored i915 driver in 12.04?

  I was called in to fix a friend's malfunctioning HP Pavilion. She's not sure exactly which model, but the sticker on the bottom says "G60". The problem was a failed upgrade to 12.04. I was able to mostly repair it with sudo apt-get -f install, which ran setup and configuration for several hundred packages. The biggest problem at the moment is Xorg. The login screen (lightdm) loads normally but at a reduced resolution (1024x768 instead of 1366x768). But once you log in, it looks like this: Observe that the colors of the dock on the left and the bar at the top are normal. But the background is filled with bizarro color-skewed ghost images of the desktop. In all cases, the actual contents of any programs you run is a totally illegible mess, except that the bar at the top of any program windows looks and acts normally. And the ghost images are interactive! For example, if you click the icon in the top right corner to get the "shut down" menu, the same menu will appear in the ghost images below. Starting a terminal will start a terminal window in both the real desktop and the ghost images, and moving it around updates both the real and ghost desktops. I suspect Xorg is using some kind of wrong driver and/or parameter for the graphics hardware. I would ordinarily check xorg.conf to see what it says, but that apparently doesn't exist any more, and my googling has not yielded any useful techniques for getting Xorg to tell me what settings it decided to use. The weird part is that it works fine on the login screen. It's only when you actually log in as a user that the display gets screwed up. Suggestions?

• Why does this valid Tkinter code crash when mixed with a bit of PyWin32?

  So I'm making a very small program for personal use in tkinter, and I've run into a really strange wall. I'm mixing tkinter with the pywin32 bindings because I really hate everything to do with the syntax and naming conventions of pywin32, and it feels like tkinter gets more done with far less code. The strangeness is happening in the transition between the pywin32 clipboard watching and my program's reaction to it in tkinter. My window and all its controls are being handled in tkinter. The pywin32 bindings are doing clipboard watching and clipboard access when the clipboard changes. From what I've gathered about the way the clipboard watching pieces of pywin32 work, you can make it work with anything you want as long as you provide pywin32 with the hwnd value of your window. I'm doing that part, and it works when the program first starts. It just doesn't seem to work when the clipboard changes. When the program launches, it grabs the clipboard and puts it into the search box and edit box just fine. When the clipboard is modified, the event I want to fire off is firing off...except that event that totally worked before when the program launched is now causing a weird hang instead of doing what it's supposed to do. I can print the clipboard contents to stdout all I want if the clipboard changes, but not put that same data into a tkinter widget. It only hangs like that if it starts to interact with any of my tkinter widgets after being fired off by a clipboard change notification. It feels like there's some pywin32 etiquette I've missed in adapting the clipboard-watching sample code I was using over to my tkinter-using program. Tkinter apparently doesn't like to produce stack traces or error messages, and I can't really even begin to know what to look for trying to debug it with pdb. Background: I'm pursuing a Master's degree with a focus on fundamentals such as Algorithms, Complexity and Computability Theory and Programming Languages to get a good foundation for working in the field of Parallel Computing. Some more background: My university grants a lot of freedom in the choices of courses for my Master's degree. It's officially called "Software Engineering", but due to a the broad range of electives, a different focus is possible. Interestingly, none of the electives is a lecture in Math! I'm thinking about doing a course about Discrete Mathematics that would take half a semester to complete successfully, even if I can't use it for my degree. So with this question I'm trying to find out if the effort is justifiable.

  I almost didn't make it out alive.  I followed the instructions in every piece of sample code and every forum post by someone who had no idea why their client OM code wasn't working, and my code still wouldn't get past the page load.  I kept getting "'Type' is undefined" errors when sp.core.js tried to register the SP namespace.As it turns out, you need the help of the default master page (or one like it) to get the object model loaded.  Once I told my sample page to use the default master and modified everything accordingly, it hooked up and ran just fine.Now I can finally get some work done.

• Fork dead SVN based project on GitHub

  I previously asked this at stack overflow but it was closed, I believe because 'programmers' is a more appropriate venue for this question. I have done some work on the SVN Importer project (Apache license), which appears to be effectively dead (no published changes in 5 years). I have a login to their svn server but do not have commit rights. At any rate, I'd like to convert this project to Git and push my own changes to GitHub. The GitHub site suggests the svn2git tool for converting svn projects to Git, so I was planning to convert the SVN repository to Git, add my changes, and then push this Git repository to GitHub. I'm wondering, what are the legal requirements and common conventions of this process? Is it acceptable to clone the entire history of the project and move it to GitHub? Also, even though this is essentially a dead project, once I've translated the repository to Git should I put all of my commits onto a non master branch or is it acceptable to use master in this case?

• Security Issues When Creating Pages in SharePoint

  I was speaking (or rather IM'ing) with Ben Collins a while back and he came across an interesting problem that I wanted to document for the sake of posterity.  If you have a SharePoint user who has permissions to create a page in a page library, but that user is having security issues trying to actually make a page, then it the security issue may be related to their access rights on the master page gallery.  Users who create pages must have at least restricted read access to the master page gallery for page creation to succeed. That is one of the joys of working in SharePoint. if something doesn't show up there is usually a good but obscure reason for it, but SharePoint certainly won't tell you outright why it is.  All I have to say is that I'm glad he ran into that issue and not me.

Creating a common map across the extended enterprise to rationalize codes across procurement, accounts payable, general ledger, credit card, procurement card (P-card) as well as ACH and bank systems can cut sourcing costs, improve compliance, lower inventory stock, and free up talent to focus on value added tasks. Specialty Finance: Point of Sales Transaction Codes and Product Codes In the specialty finance industry, enterprises are confronted with usury laws – governed at the state and local level – that regulate financial product innovation as it relates to consumer loans, check cashing and pawn lending. To comply, it is important to demonstrate that transactions booked at the point of sale are posted against valid product codes that were on offer at the time of booking the sale. Since new products are being released at a steady stream, it is important to ensure timely and accurate mapping of point-of-sale transaction codes with the appropriate product and GL codes to comply with the changing regulations. The link says something about "master mode", how do i put my T61 wifi-inter4965 in master mode. Can i install madwifi or atheros drivers on it. I am using galaxy S froyo, and it does not support Ad-hoc network. Has anyone tired to achieve this.

• Unable to download microsoft excel files from a IIS SSL site

  The web master at my corporation added SSL to the web site and now none of my users can download Microsoft word and xcel files the sites generates. According to Microsoft the following must be down. Web sites that want to allow this type of operation should remove the no-cache header or headers. Typical of MS they don't tell you what to do, how to do it, or what the best practice is. The web master says its a web config setting. But all i can finds is <configuration> <appSettings/> <connectionStrings/> <system.web> <httpRuntime sendCacheControlHeader="false"/> and I don't know if this is the best way to achieve the result. I would greatly appreciate some advice on this subject.

• How do I toggle sound with amixer?

  Including Natty I was always able to toggle (mute/unmute) the 'Master' sound volume with the amixer sset Master toggle command that I linked to an edge binding in CompizConfig-Manager. Now after installing Oneiric the command only mutes the sound but doesn't unmute it. I even tried it in the Terminal but it also doesn't work. It changes 'Mono: Playback 68 [78%] [-14.25dB] [off]' to '...[on]' but the sound stays muted so that I have to unmute it via the 'sound-indicator' in the panel. How can I get this working again? What did change since Natty? Does anyone know the command the 'sound-indicator' uses to toggle the sound volume?

• Why do I get an exception when playing multiple sound instances?

  Right now, I'm adding a rudimentary sound engine to my game. So far, I am able to load in a WAV file and play it once, then free up the memory when I close the game. However, the game crashes with a nice ArgumentOutOfBoundsException when I try to play another sound instance. Specified argument was out of the range of valid values.   Any idea how this fork is affecting my site? I went to verify my website log stats, and realized this may be the cause of a strange redirect constantly happening on my WordPress installation. Here's a line I found on my log: 54.81.91.95 - - [07/May/2014:22:52:08 -0400] "GET /category/selfie/feed/ HTTP/1.1" 200 1826 "-" "feedzirra http://github.com/pauldix/feedzirra/tree/master" And this is the Github fork (or however these are called). https://github.com/feedjira/feedjira/tree/master Basically, I think everytime I update my categories, (selfie in this case), I get redirected to install.php. Probably by triggering some GET function on that feed. to the best of my knowledge, this feed parses all url with this structure, blocking them, kind of like a DDoS attack?? Any ideas how to go about it??

  I would like to use my laptop as an Access point, so that i can connect my phones through Wifi. I have done this my office laptop T410. I am having T61 with wifi module 4965. Connectify on windows does not support it. I am following these instructions to make achieve WAP capability on my T61 running ubuntu 10.10. The link says something about "master mode", how do i put my T61 wifi-inter4965 in master mode. Can I install madwifi or atheros drivers on it? I am using galaxy S froyo, and it does not support Ad-hoc network. Has anyone tried to achieve this?

Now I removed all article's meta descriptions from "All in one SEO" the other day but STILL web master tool is showing duplicate meta tags and descriptions. Why??
