  • CSplitterWnd flip between horizonal and vertical splitter?

    - by buttercup
    Hi, Suppose I have a splitter with 2 rows. -------- |        | -------- |        | -------- How do I make it to this --------- |    |    | |    |    | |    |    | --------- switch from horizontal split to vertical split without having to re-create the whole splitter? Code is: if (!m_wndSplitter.CreateStatic(this, 1, 2, WS_CHILD|WS_VISIBLE)) { TRACE0("Failed to create splitter window\n"); return FALSE; } if (!m_wndSplitter.CreateView(0, 1, RUNTIME_CLASS(CWnd), CSize(200, 100), NULL)) { TRACE0("Failed to create CView1\n"); return FALSE; } if (!m_wndSplitter.CreateView(0, 2, RUNTIME_CLASS(CWnd), CSize(500, 100), NULL)) { TRACE0("Failed to create CView2\n"); return FALSE; }

  • STL container to pop() by priority?

    - by Pirate for Profit
    I'm writing a thread-pool for Qt as QRunnable doesn't handle event loops in new threads. Not too familiar with STL, what would be the best way to pop() something by priority? Priority should probably be a property of MyRunnable imo, but I can always give that info to an STL container when adding the runnable to the queue.

  • How to set visibility for textblocks in QTextEdit?

    - by serge
    Hi everyone, i tried to hide textblock's in QTextEdit, but it doesn't work: block = textedit.document().begin() block.setVisible(False) This code works fine for QPlainTextEdit, but not for QTextEdit. In documentation i haven't found any mention of how it should work for QTextEdit, just following: void QTextBlock::setVisible ( bool visible ) Sets the block's visibility to visible. This function was introduced in Qt 4.4. See also isVisible(). How can i hide block's in QTextEdit? Thank you in advance

  • LNK2005: delete already defined error in VC++

    - by user333422
    Hi, I asked this question earlier as well: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2773168/lnk2005-delete-already-defined-error-in-vc The answer I got was that I should be using dynamic version of DLLs. I did that and it compiled fine. Now, but when I gave the exe to one of my colleagues to run, they told me - they can't run it as it requires some shared dll, so they need a static one. When I try to do static build then I get the error as mentioned in my previous link. Do, I need to provide some other file as well with exe. I have got .lib file as well in the build directory. Shall I provide taht one as well? I can run it fine on my m/c in whichever directory I put it. Any help is much appreciated as I am really stuck. Thanks in advance, Suchita

  • Is Ruby on Rails suitable for a non-web application?

    - by Bruce
    I am interested in developing a workstation-based application that communicates with a proprietary data server and that presents information from that server to the user. I am not intending the user interface to be browser-based, and have been considering Qt as my framework. Should I consider RoR for this? Thanks.

  • How to deal with accelerators for disabled controls?

    - by sharptooth
    I have a dialog created from a template. It has controls listed in the template in the following order: some irrelevant controls a label with an accelerator (let's pretend it's Alt-A) an edit box OK and Cancel buttons Normally when I hit Alt-A the keybord focus is transferred to the edit box - just as needed. However I sometimes need to disable to edit box. If I hit Alt-A when the edit box is disabled the effect is that the OK button is pressed and that is definitely not what I want. I would prefer to have no action taken in this case. What could I do to workaround this?

  • Please tell me what is wrong with my threading!!!

    - by kiddo
    I have a function where I will compress a bunch of files into a single compressed file..it is taking a long time(to compress),so I tried implementing threading in my application..Say if I have 20 files for compression,I separated that as 5*4=20,inorder to do that I have separate variables(which are used for compression) for all 4 threads in order to avoid locks and I will wait until the 4 thread finishes..Now..the threads are working but i see no improvement in their performance..normally it will take 1 min for 20 files(for example) after implementing threading ...there is only 5 or 3 sec difference., sometimes the same. here i will show the code for 1 thread(so it is for other3 threads) //main thread myClassObject->thread1 = AfxBeginThread((AFX_THREADPROC)MyThreadFunction1,myClassObject); .... HANDLE threadHandles[4]; threadHandles[0] = myClassObject->thread1->m_hThread; .... WaitForSingleObject(myClassObject->thread1->m_hThread,INFINITE); UINT MyThreadFunction(LPARAM lparam) { CMerger* myClassObject = (CMerger*)lparam; CString outputPath = myClassObject->compressedFilePath.GetAt(0);//contains the o/p path wchar_t* compressInputData[] = {myClassObject->thread1outPath, COMPRESS,(wchar_t*)(LPCTSTR)(outputPath)}; HINSTANCE loadmyDll; loadmydll = LoadLibrary(myClassObject->thread1outPath); fp_Decompress callCompressAction = NULL; int getCompressResult=0; myClassObject->MyCompressFunction(compressInputData,loadClient7zdll,callCompressAction,myClassObject->thread1outPath, getCompressResult,minIndex,myClassObject->firstThread,myClassObject); return 0; }

  • How can I know when QProcess wants to read input?

    - by mpcabd
    I'm implementing a compiler in my Compilers class, I'm using Qt & C++. After I have generated the machine code from the source code, I'm executing the virtual machine that will execute the call. I'm facing a problem here, I'm using readyRead() signal to get output from the virtual machine, but how can I know that the virtual machine wants to read data from the user? I wanna show the user an input dialog each time the machine asks for input.

  • CArray doesn't call copy constructors on memory reallocations, now what?

    - by MMx
    Suppose I have a class that requires copy constructor to be called to make a correct copy of: struct CWeird { CWeird() { number = 47; target = &number; } CWeird(const CWeird &other) : number(other.number), target(&number) { } void output() { printf("%d %d\n", *target, number); } int *target, number; }; Now the trouble is that CArray doesn't call copy constructors on its elements when reallocating memory (only memcpy from the old memory to the new), e.g. this code CArray<CWeird> a; a.SetSize(1); a[0].output(); a.SetSize(2); a[0].output(); results in 47 47 -572662307 47 I don't get this. Why is it that std::vector can copy the same objects properly and CArray can't? What's the lesson here? Should I use only classes that don't require explicit copy constructors? Or is it a bad idea to use CArray for anything serious?

  • Handle CSliderCtl messages placed on a CDialogBar

    - by user173438
    VS2008, 32 Bit Win XP In a class derived from CFrameWnd, I have an object of CDialogBar that needs to have certain controls on it. Among these controls would be 2 sliders, whose event handling is to be done in CFrameWnd derived class. How shall I go about this? class CFrameWndCustom : public CFrameWnd { CDialogBar m_wndDialogBar; // the CDialogBar object. } In CFrameWnd derived class's OnCreateClient, I have created the DialogBar using the above object like: //Create the DialogBar if (!m_wndDialogBar.Create(this, IDD_DIALOGBAR_CONTROL, CBRS_BOTTOM, IDD_DIALOGBAR_CONTROL)) { TRACE("Warning: Couldn't create DialogBar Control!\n"); return FALSE; } Here, IDD_DIALOGBAR_CONTROL is a dialog resource with Style as Child. After this, I drag-dropped a CSliderCtrl on the IDD_DIALOGBAR_CONTROL in Resource View. Now, how/where should I handle the CSliderCtrl's events? There would be 2 such slider controls. I finally need the values of the sliders in CFrameWndCustom class. best regards, Divya

    - by karikari
    I want to make the hostname part of this string to be variable.. Currently, it is only fix to this URL: _T(" --url=http://www.myurl.com/ --out=c:\\current.png"); I want to make something like this, so the URL is changeable.. _T(" --url=http://www." + myurl + "/ --out=c:\\current.png"); update. Below is my latest attempt: CString one = _T(" --url=http://www."); CString two(url->bstrVal); CString three = _T("/ --out=c:\\current.png"); CString full = one + two + three; ShellExecute(0, _T("open"), // Operation to perform _T("c:\\IECapt"), // Application name _T(full),// Additional parameters 0, // Default directory SW_HIDE); The error is : Error 1 error C2065: 'Lfull' : undeclared identifier c:\test.cpp

  • exactly what does rake db:migrate do?

    - by happythenewsad
    Does rake db:migrate only add new migrations, or does it drop all migrations/changes and build everything new? I think rake is throwing an error because it is trying to access a table attribute in migration 040 that was deleted in migration 042. somehow my DB and rake are out of synch and I want to fix them. for you experts out there - is it common for rake to get out of synch with migrations? how can I avoid this (no, I do not hand-edit my schema or rake files).

  • vs2008 resource editor changes rc file language

    - by user346134
    Hi all, I am doing some improvements to an application in vs2008 in c++. When i try to edit resources (for example add an entry in the string table), the vs2008 editor changes the rc file language from LANG_ENGLISH to LANG_NEUTRAL and a non english text is replaced with question marks. If i edit the rc file externally (in notepad), and then load it to the vs2008 it works fine. can anybody help me solve this? thanks Shimon

  • how to update newly exposed area of a scrolled widget

    - by yan bellavance
    I have setAttribute(Qt::WA_OpaquePaintEvent,true) on a widget. From a mouseMoveEvent, I scroll the widget. Now what I need to do is to update the newly exposed area, but it seems that doing this from the paintevent function create an artifact because there is a delay created when the user keeps scrolling. In other words, the widget seems to have scrolled again between the call to scrool and the call or end of paintevent. For example, while the paint event is trying to draw the desired area, the widget is still scrolling

  • Is this function thread-safe?

    - by kiddo
    Hello all,I am learning multi-threading and for the sake of understanding I have wriiten a small function using multithreading...it works fine.But I just want to know if that thread is safe to use,did I followed the correct rule. void CThreadingEx4Dlg::OnBnClickedOk() { //in thread1 100 elements are copied to myShiftArray(which is a CStringArray) thread1 = AfxBeginThread((AFX_THREADPROC)MyThreadFunction1,this); WaitForSingleObject(thread1->m_hThread,INFINITE); //thread2 waits for thread1 to finish because thread2 is going to make use of myShiftArray(in which thread1 processes it first) thread2 = AfxBeginThread((AFX_THREADPROC)MyThreadFunction2,this); thread3 = AfxBeginThread((AFX_THREADPROC)MyThreadFunction3,this); } UINT MyThreadFunction1(LPARAM lparam) { CThreadingEx4Dlg* pthis = (CThreadingEx4Dlg*)lparam; pthis->MyFunction(0,100); return 0; } UINT MyThreadFunction2(LPARAM lparam) { CThreadingEx4Dlg* pthis = (CThreadingEx4Dlg*)lparam; pthis->MyCommonFunction(0,20); return 0; } UINT MyThreadFunction3(LPARAM lparam) { CThreadingEx4Dlg* pthis = (CThreadingEx4Dlg*)lparam; WaitForSingleObject(pthis->thread3->m_hThread,INFINITE); //here thread3 waits for thread 2 to finish so that thread can continue pthis->MyCommonFunction(21,40); return 0; } void CThreadingEx4Dlg::MyFunction(int minCount,int maxCount) { for(int i=minCount;i<maxCount;i++) { //assume myArray is a CStringArray and it has 100 elemnts added to it. //myShiftArray is a CStringArray -public to the class CString temp; temp = myArray.GetAt(i); myShiftArray.Add(temp); } } void CThreadingEx4Dlg::MyCommonFunction(int min,int max) { for(int i = min;i < max;i++) { CSingleLock myLock(&myCS,TRUE); CString temp; temp = myShiftArray.GetAt(i); //threadArray is CStringArray-public to the class threadArray.Add(temp); } myEvent.PulseEvent(); }
