  I want to write a .htaccess file for redirecting my subdomains and URL's last variable to a new location. Here is what I want to do: http(s)://abc.example.com/books I want my internal URL to be like: http://example.com/?name=abc&type=books I have already gotten the subdomain redirect to work but I am not able to do subdomain with variable in last part of URL. How can I accomplish this?

However, I can't get this to work for me. The only difference I can think of is that my URL is a text file (http://mycrossdomain.com/sometext.txt) and not HTML.I think the YQL query needs to be adjusted accordingly. Any help is appreciated.

  I have a get form with several visible and hidden input fields. When the form is submitted, selected fileds with their values are appended to the url in the order they are placed in the form. Is there a way to re-order the parameters in the url using jQuery? Note that for the reasons of usability, I can not re-order the elements on the form itself. I know it beggs the question "why would I want to do it?", but the reason is that I will be hitting a static page, so the order of the parameters have to be exactly how they are in the static page url.   Hey Guys - I'm trying to find an easy way(without having to write any plugins or overrides to Rails) to generate an absolute url to a rails application being in a subdirectory. This url is going to be generated for theme images, not links, so I can't url link_to or url_for. But if I try gup('a', 'http://example.com/page.php?a&b=2'); It returns null. I want it to return true because parameter "a" exists in that url, even though it has no value it's still there and gup() should return true. Could I get a bit of help rewriting this? I'm not that good with regex.

  Is there any real way to represent a URL (which more than likely will also have a query string) as a filename in Java without obscuring the original URL completely? My first approach was to simply escape invalid characters with arbitrary replacements (for example, replacing "/" with "_", etc). The problem is, as in the example of replacing with underscores is that a URL such as "app/my_app" would become "app_my_app" thus obscuring the original URL completely. I have also attempted to encode all the special characters, however again, seeing crazy %3e %20 etc is really not clear. Thank you for any suggestions.

  Hello, I would like to use the ISAPI_REWRITE module to rewrite a url: www.site.com/app/ to www.site.com So that the user doesn't see the folder where the application is... the reason why isn't important, but essentially I need to mask this folder due to an IIS structure change. Any help would be appreciated. I need to remap any requested file in the app directory and any related subdirectory to the main URL. Thanks.

However, each time a static asset is requested, I see a not found: favicon.ico message in the logs.   Hi, I have a has and belongs to many relation between User and Article models, and I would like to link them even if an article if not hosted on the same database then a user. For example, If an article exists at foo.com/articles/3 and a user exists at bar.com/users/1, If would like to be able to do from foo.com web interface or bar.com web interface this kind of query: a_user.articles (or an_article.users). I think this can be possible adding a field like "url" in users and articles tables. But I don't know how to process for ActiveRecord.   i have a website, some folders on the websites contains images and files like .pdf , .doc and .docx . the user can easly just type the address in the url to get the file or display the photo http://site/folder1/img/pic1.jpg then boom.. he can see the image or just download the file my question is: how to prevent this kind of action, how can i guarantee a secure access of the files. any suggestions UPDATE TO CLARIFY MY IDEA i don't want any user who is browsing the website to get access to these files normally by just writing the URL of the file. those files are a CV files, they are being uploaded by the users to a specific folder on the server which we host outside the company. those files are only being viewed by the HR people through a special system. that's the scenario we want. i don't want a WEB GEEK who just wants to see what files has been uploaded to this folder to download them easly to his/her computer and view them or publish them on the internet. i hope you got my idea

• Getting around url block for game

  So I play a game called Battlefield Play4Free (www.battlefield.play4free.com). Its essentially a giant browser plugin. The admin on my computer used to have the url battlefield.play4free.com/en/playnow.html blocked which only blocked the page that launches the game (i found a way to launch the game without going to that page and the game worked fine). Now it blocks battlefield.play4free.com which thus blocks all subpages. However, I have found that if I change it to an https and go to https://battlefield.play4free.com/en/login.html to login and then https://battlefield.play4free.com/en/playnow.html I can launch the game. However, when the game launches the borders and everything show but the window content is just a giant blockpage (the same one that shows up when I go to battlefield.play4free.com in the browser) and the blocked page is battlefield.play4free.com (main page). Is there any way I can get around this? I need a way to make the game access the server without going through the browser i.e. make the game use a proxy to get the data or somehow get past the besafe block. I was thinking perhaps you could get around it if you could get the game to make a direct request to the server and not through the url/browser, I know this works because I have a torrenting app that even tho torrent sites are blocked in the browser, the app makes a direct request and thus is not blocked. By the way, the program that blocks everything is besafe or besecure something like that. I do have access to an admin account (on the computer not the besafe program) as well as router access and pretty much anything else. Thanks so much!
