  • How is the Tomcat temp directory location defined?

    I am running Tomcat bundled with Liferay5.2.3 and use Eclipse 3.5 (Galileo) as my IDE. I set up my Tomcat server in Eclipse as per this blog entry: http://www.jroller.com/holy/entry/developing_portlets_for_liferay_in. If I start Tomcat via the Eclipse server config, Liferay/Tomcat uses my C:\Documents and Settings\user\Local Settings\Temp\ directory. However, if I start Tomcat directly using the startup.bat script, Liferay/Tomcat uses the Tomcat temp directory. I can't figure out if Eclipse, Liferay or Tomcat is deciding which temp directory to use or how to change it. I would prefer to use the Tomcat temp directory. I have this issue with both the Lifera/Tomcat bundles 5.5 and 6.0 (liferay-portal-tomcat-6.0-5.2.3.zip and liferay-portal-tomcat-5.5-5.2.3.zip). Anybody have any clues?

    Hi all, Right now i have an asp.net 2.0 app which allows a user to search by the following fields Location (Required if there is nothing in idnumber field) Address (Required if there is nothing in idnumber field) Zip (Required if there is nothing in idnumber field) **OR** IDNumber. (Required if there is nothing in any of the other fields) What i'd like to be able to do is validate this client side on button click and display a summary of errors. i.e. if a user leaves every criteria blank. I'd like to display "You must enter a IDNumber or "Location, Address, and Zip to continue" I've never used the Custom Validation control so here are some questions. 1) Is it able to do this? 2) Does anyone have an example of how to do this?     OBJECTIVE To build an app that allows the user to search for locations. CURRENT STATE At the moment the locations listed are few, so they are just all presented when landing on the "dealers" page. BACKGROUND Previously there were only about 50 showrooms carrying a product we sell, so a static HTML page was fine. And displays as But the page size grew to about 1500 lines of code after doing this. We have gotten more and need a scalable solution so that we can add many more dealers fast. In other projects, I have previously used MustacheJS and to load in values from a JSON file. I know the ideally this will be an AJAX application. Perhaps I might be better off with database here? Below is what I have in mind so far, and it "works" up to a certain point, but seems not to be anywhere near the most sustainable solution that can be efficiently scaled.   • Execution Plan Optimization when where clause is removed then added back

    I have a stored procedure that uses a table valued function which executes in 9 seconds. If I alter the table valued function and remove the where clause, the stored procedure executes in 3 seconds. If I add the where clause back, the query still executes in 3 seconds. I took a look at the execution plans and it appears that after I remove the where clause, the execution plan includes parallelism and the scan count for 2 of my tables drops for 50000 and 65000 down to 5 and 3. After I add the where clause back, the optimized execution plan still runs unless I run DBCC FREEPROCCACHE. Questions 1. Why would SQL Server start using the optimized execution plan for both queries only when I first remove the where clause? Is there a way to force SQL Server to use this execution plan? Also, this is a paramaterized all-in-one query that uses the (Parameter is null or Parameter) in the where clause, which I believe is bad for performance.   • What are some RCP Deployment Options?

    We have an RCP application and we are looking for a better way to do installation/updates. Currently to install, they just unzip a zip file. The zip file also contains scripts in it that are not java code. We were running into some bugs when updating if they don't first delete the old folder that was previous unzipped. The issue with deleting the folder is that the user loses the plugin preferences that were set. The installation would also need to register a COM server. The update would have to update the plugins and also replace the current script folder. What are some of the best options that could be used for installing and updating rcp apps? Thanks!

    Xcode 5 seems to have changed the way it stores the build application package (xxx.app) such that ditto no longer works. In the ../BuildProductsPath/Release/ directory, the app is actually a symlink to .../InstallationBuildProductsLocation/Applications/... MyApp.app - ~/Library/Developer/Xcode/DerivedData/MyApp-emwilkqhlayanxahjpexlpbbkato/Build/Intermediates/ArchiveIntermediates/MyApp/InstallationBuildProductsLocation/Applications/MyApp This breaks the ditto command I was using to create a zip file of the application to put on my Sparkle update server. Anyone have an updated script for building the Sparkle XML and ZIP files? Or know what environment variable I need to use to locate my actual binary after the Archive phase?

    I am looking to create a group indicator for a query using SQL (Oracle specifically). Basically, I am looking for duplicate entries for certain columns and while I can find those what I also want is some kind of indicator to say what rows the duplicates are from. Below is an example of what I am looking to do (looking for duplicates on Name, Zip, Phone). The rows with Name = aaa are all in the same group, bb are not, and c are. Is there even a way to do this?     Hi Guys, I wrote a simple batch file which checks whether the c drive path exists then execute the exe in that path else try the d drive path and execute it. IF EXIST c:\program files\x goto a ELSE goto b :a cd c:\program files\x executable.exe c:\temp\col.zip :b cd d:\program files\x executable.exe c:\temp\col.zip Im getting this error: ----Error Ouput-- 'ELSE' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. The system cannot find the path specified. 'executable.exe' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. 'dellsysteminfo.exe' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. I don't know why.

    I want to make WPF window extended on the title area (like Office 2007/2010). I implemented DwmWindow (see DwmTest.zip) where I put required stuff. Commonly, it works fine except one disgusting thing: the window appears as white rectangle (see DwmIssue.png) and after a few second this rectangle disappears and the content of the window is shown (see DwmIssueCorrect.png). This bug is essential only for my window. I have a following scenario in my MSSql 2005 database. zipcodes table has following fields and value (just a sample): zipcode latitude longitude ------- -------- --------- 65201 123.456 456.789 65203 126.546 444.444 and "place" table has following fields and value : id name zip latitude longitude -- ---- --- -------- --------- 1 abc 65201 NULL NULL 2 def 65202 NULL NULL 3 ghi 65203 NULL NULL 4 jkl 65204 NULL NULL Now, my requirement is like I want to compare my zip codes of "place" table and update the available latitude and longitude fields from "zipcode" table. And there are some of the zipcodes which has no entry in "zipcode" table, so that should remain null. And the major issue is like I have more then 50,00,000 records in my db. So, query should support this feature. I have tried some of the solutions but unfortunately not getting proper output. Any help would be appreciated...

The following code seems to work fine so far (assuming 100 bins): HOUR = timedelta(hours=1) start = datetime.datetime(2009,01,01) z = [dt + x*HOUR for x in xrange(1, 100)] But then, I came across this fateful line at python docs 'This makes possible an idiom for clustering a data series into n-length groups using zip(*[iter(s)]*n)'. The zip idiom does indeed work - but I can't understand how (what is the * operator for instance?). How could I use to make my code prettier? I'm guessing this means I should make a generator / iterable for time that yields the time in graduations of an HOUR?

    I'm struggling with writing a python script that automatically grabs the zip fail containing all my google calendars and stores it (as a backup) on my harddisk. I'm using ClientLogin to get an authentication token (and successfully can obtain the token). Unfortunately, i'm unable to retrieve the file at https://www.google.com/calendar/exporticalzip It always asks me for the login credentials again by returning a login page as html (instead of the zip).   • Maven best practice for generating artifacts for multiple environments [prod, test, dev] with CI/Hud

    I have a project that need to be deployed into multiple environments (prod, test, dev). The main differences mainly consist in configuration properties/files. My idea was to use profiles and overlays to copy/configure the specialized output. But I'm stuck into if I have to generate multiple artifacts with specialized classifiers (ex: "my-app-1.0-prod.zip/jar", "my-app-1.0-dev.zip/jar") or should I create multiple projects, one project for every environment ?! Should I use maven-assembly-plugin to generate multiple artifacts for every environment ? Anyway, I'll need to generate all them at once so it seams that the profiles does not fit ... still puzzled :( Any hints/examples/links will be more than welcomed. As a side issue, I'm also wondering how to achieve this in a CI Hudson/Bamboo to generate and deploy these generated artifacts for all the environments, to their proper servers (ex: using SCP Hudson plugin) ?

  • Sending files through a webservice

    Hi, I have to send some files through a webservice in C#. The files to be sent can be from different locations i.e. there is one folder having 4 files and another folder having 5 files. Assuming i have a mechanism to select which files to send. What would be the best way to send those files? Should I be sending them one by one and let the client figure out how to put them together, or zip all the files into a single file and send that zip file to the client. If there is any other way to implement this, I would be more than happy to look into that approach too. Thanks

So I want to move files over ftp (which already works) Because of performance reasons I chose this process to run in the background so I use nfcftpput (linux) In CLI the following command works perfectly: ncftpput-b-u name -p password -P 1980 127.0.0.1 /upload/ /home/Downloads/upload.zip (Knowing that the b-parameter triggers background process) But if I run it via PHP it does not work (without the-b parameter it does) PHP code: $cmd = "ncftpput -b -u name -p password -P 1980 127.0.0.1 /upload/ /home/Downloads/upload.zip"; $return = exec($cmd);

So I want to move files over ftp (which already works) Because of performance reasons I chose this process to run in the background so I use nfcftpput (linux) In CLI the following command works perfectly: ncftpput-b-u name -p password -P 1980 127.0.0.1 /upload/ /home/Downloads/upload.zip (Knowing that the b-parameter triggers background process) But if I run it via PHP it does not work (without the-b parameter it does) PHP code: $cmd = "ncftpput -b -u name -p password -P 1980 127.0.0.1 /upload/ /home/Downloads/upload.zip"; $return = exec($cmd);
