  • How can I add similar functionality to a number of methods in java?

    - by Roman
    I have a lot of methods for logging, like logSomeAction, logAnotherAction etc. Now I want all these methods make a small pause after printing messages (Thread.sleep). If I do it manually, I would do something like this: //before: public static void logSomeAction () { System.out.println (msg(SOME_ACTION)); } //after: public static void logSomeAction () { System.out.println (msg(SOME_ACTION)); try { Thread.sleep (2000); } catch (InterruptedException ignored) { } } I remember that Java has proxy classes and some other magic-making tools. Is there any way avoid copy-n-pasting N sleep-blocks to N logging methods?

  • why C clock() returns 0

    - by eddy ed
    I've got something like this: clock_t start, end; start=clock(); something_else(); end=clock(); printf("\nClock cycles are: %d - %d\n",start,end); and I always get as an output "Clock cycles are: 0 - 0" Any idea why this happens? (Just to give little detail, the something_else() function performs a left-to-right exponentiation using montgomery represantation, moreover I don't know for certain that the something_else() function does indeed take some not negligible time.) This is on Linux. The result of uname -a is: Linux snowy.*****.ac.uk 2.6.32-71.el6.x86_64 #1 SMP Fri May 20 03:51:51 BST 2011 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

  • Why SQL functions are faster than UDF

    - by Zerotoinfinite
    Though it's a quite subjective question but I feel it necessary to share on this forum. I have personally experienced that when I create a UDF (even if that is not complex) and use it into my SQL it drastically decrease the performance. But when I use SQL inbuild function they happen to work pretty faster. Conversion , logical & string functions are clear example of that. So, my question is "Why SQL in build functions are faster than UDF"? and it would be an advantage if someone can guide me how can I judge/manipulate function cost either mathematically or logically.

  • Jquery: encasing div and anchor link binded to same event.

    - by centr0
    im having trouble figuring out how to bind mouseout() to my entire nav bar including the links. when a user hovers over a link in #nav a sub menu is shown. all is well there. what i want to do is fadeOut that sub menu when the user hovers out of the entire #nav. my code for the mouseout: $('#nav').mouseout(function() { setTimeout(function() { //$('.sub-link').fadeOut(); }, 2000); }); when i hover over an anchor link which resides in #nav, i see the sub-menu. then i guess the mouseout() even fires and the sub-menu fades out. is there anyway to have the #nav and any anchor links within it to act as one? i'd paste my markup but even indenting it 4 spaces still shows as rendered html.. TIA

  • Can I use a string variable to reference a class variable?

    - by rson
    Here's the scenario: I have an external swf file with x number of movieclips in its library that I load into a containing swf. Each MC in the external swf is linked with a class name and referenced on frame 1 as such var unique1:lineSequence1 = new lineSequence1(); the unique1 variable name will match a string variable I create in the containing swf: function initLines():void{ lineLoader = new Loader(); lineLoader.load(new URLRequest("theLines.swf")); //load external swf lineLoader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, linesLoaded); } function linesLoaded(e:Event):void{ var loadedswf:MovieClip = e.target.content as MovieClip; var initialLines = projects[0].pageid; //projects is an xmllist trace("initialLines: "+initialLines); //returns "initialLines: unique1" lines_holder_mc.addChild(loadedswf.[initialLines]); } I would like to use the initialLines variable as the reference to unique1 instead of hardcoding unique1 into loadedswf.unique1 to reference said variable in the loaded swf.

  • How to receive a arg from command line in C

    - by 115599yy
    Hi everyone: I want to write a program to receive a argument from command line. It's like a kind of atof(). There my program goes: 9 char s[] = "3.1415e-4"; 10 if (argc == 1) { 11 printf("%e\n",atof(s)); 12 } 13 else if (argc == 2) { 14 //strcpy(s, argv[1]); 15 printf("%e\n",atof(argv[1])); 16 } 1.should I just use argv[1] for the string to pass to my atof(), or, put it into s[]? 2.If I'd better put it in s[], is there some build-in function to do this "put" work? maybe some function like strcpy()?? thanks.

  • How-to handle errors in Vim Script ?

    - by ereOn
    In my .vimrc file, I have the following function, which folds the licensing information on the top of some .hpp and .cpp files: " Skip license function! FoldLicense() if !exists("b:foldedLicense") let b:foldedLicense = 1 1;/\*\//fold endif endfunction au BufRead *.hpp call FoldLicense() au BufRead *.cpp call FoldLicense() This works well, but if I open a .cpp file which doesn't have any licensing information block, Vim complains that the pattern is not found. Fair enough, but is there a way so that he stops complaining and just does nothing if the pattern is not found ? Thanks !

  • I don't get this C/C++ Joke

    - by Buttercup
    After reading this article on thedailywtf.com, I'm not sure that I really got the joke. It says there that some guy changed the code from int function() { int x; char data_string[15]; ... x = 2; strcpy(data_string,"data data data"); ... } to int function() { int x = 2; char data_string[15] = "data data data"; ... } everywhere in the code and that for some reason did inflate the size of the executable from 1 to 2 CDs (or maybe it didn't do that?). Obviously I'm not familiar enough with C/C++ to get this joke, but what seems strangest is that the 2nd code listing seems "cleaner"—at least from what I've been told in school (that is that initializing variables is a good thing, not a bad one).

  • C#: Label contains no text

    - by Vinzcent
    Hey I would like to get the text out of a label. But the label text is set with Javascript. On the page I can see that there is text in the label, but when I debug it shows this: "". So how do I get the text out of a label that is set with Javascript, at least that is what I think is the problem. My code: <asp:TextBox ID="txtCount" runat="server" Width="50px" Font-Names="Georgia, Arial, sans-Serif" ForeColor="#444444"></asp:TextBox> <ajaxToolkit:NumericUpDownExtender ID="NumericUpDownExtender1" runat="server" Minimum="1" TargetButtonDownID="btnDown" TargetButtonUpID="btnUp" TargetControlID="txtCount" Width="20" /> <asp:ImageButton ID="btnUp" runat="server" AlternateText="up" ImageUrl="Images/arrowUp.png" OnClientClick="setAmountUp()" ImageAlign="Top" CausesValidation="False" /> <asp:ImageButton ID="btnDown" runat="server" AlternateText="down" ImageUrl="Images/arrowDown.png" OnClientClick="setAmountDown()" ImageAlign="Bottom" CausesValidation="False" /> <asp:Label ID="lblKorting" runat="server" /> <asp:Label ID="lblAmount" runat="server" /> <asp:Button ID="btnBestel" runat="server" CssClass="btn" Text="Bestel" OnClick="btnBestel_Click1" /> JS function setAmountUp() { var aantal = document.getElementById('<%=txtCount.ClientID%>').value-0; aantal+=1; calculateAmount(aantal); } function setAmountDown() { var aantal = document.getElementById('<%=txtCount.ClientID%>').value-0; if(aantal > 1) aantal -=1; calculateAmount(aantal); } function calculateAmount(aantal) { var prijs = document.getElementById('<%=lblPriceBestel.ClientID%>').innerHTML -0; var totaal = 0; if(aantal < 2) { totaal = prijs * aantal; document.getElementById('<%=lblKorting.ClientID%>').innerHTML = ""; } else if(aantal >= 2 && aantal < 5) { totaal = (prijs * aantal)*0.95; document.getElementById('<%=lblKorting.ClientID%>').innerHTML = "-5%"; } else if(aantal >= 5) { totaal = (prijs * aantal)*0.90; document.getElementById('<%=lblKorting.ClientID%>').innerHTML = "-10%"; } document.getElementById('<%=lblAmount.ClientID%>').innerHTML = totaal; } C# private OrderBO bestelling; protected void btnBestel_Click1(object sender, EventArgs e) { bestelling = new OrderBO(); bestelling.Amount = Convert.ToInt32(lblAmount.Text); //<--- THIS IS "" in the debugger, but on the page 10 }

  • Custom validatior in ASP.net

    - by DJPB
    Hi there. I'm working on an ASP.NET/C# app. I have 2 text boxes and I need to validate if the input text for both of them are not both null ex: if(string.IsNullOrEmpty(TextBox1.Text) && string.IsNullOrEmpty(TextBox2.Text) ) //FAIL!!! else // OK! that is, at least one txtBox has values I was planning on using a custom validator but it seems that the validation function only gets called when something is written on the textBox i'm using has the 'control to validate'. Now, that doesn't work for me since I want to show an error message when both text boxes are empty. Is there a way to make the validation function to be called with, for example a postback? Or is there any other better approach to this case than the custom validator? tks

  • jquery ajax call errors in chrome onenter with no responseText

    - by wham12
    I've built a login page that uses a .ajax call to a generic c# handler (.ashx) to validate the username and password before allowing the user to log in. If you click on the login link <a href="#" class="ui-state-default ui-corner-all CustomButton" onclick="goLogin();return false"> the .ajax call returns successfully and it logs the user in. I am trying to make it so the user can also just press the "enter" key from the password box: $("#pword").keydown(function(e) { if (e.keyCode == 13) { goLogin(); } }); Using Firefox, both ways work just fine and the user is logged in. With Chrome however, pressing "enter" hits the error function of my .ajax call and will not log the user in. The parameters and responses look identical through Firefox's console, as expected. What would be causing this and/or how can I debug it in Chrome?

  • sigprocmask not working

    - by EpsilonVector
    I'm using sigprocmask as follows: void mask(){ sigset_t new_set,old_set; sigemptyset(&new_set); sigaddset(&new_set,SIGALRM); sigprocmask(SIG_BLOCK, &new_set, &old_set); } and to my surprise a function which prints a big list somehow gets interrupted by the signal, even though I invoke mask() at its beginning. It looks as if mask fails, since my function doesn't invoke any other functions and therefore nowhere in its run should an unmask() happen. What can cause sigprocmask to fail?

  • Why jquery.animate on a textarea make the blinking cursor disapears?

    - by Tom S.
    Hello everyone. I have the following code $(document).ready(function() { $("#myTextArea").focus(function() { $("#myTextArea").animate({ "height": "75px"}, "normal"); return false; }); to expand a textbox when it gets focus. The expand occurs, however the blinking cursor disapears, at least in Firefox! Edited: The textarea is still focused, and i can type on it. Why does this happen? Is there a way to show it again? Thanks in advance

  • How should I organize my C# classes? [closed]

    - by oscar.fimbres
    I'm creating an email generator system. I'm creating some clases and I'm trying to make things right. By the time, I have created 5 classes. Look at the class diagram: I'm going to explain you each one. Person. It's not a big deal. Just have two constructors: Person(fname, lname1, lname2) and Person(token, fname, lname1, lname2). Note that email property stays without value. StringGenerator. This is a static class and it has only a public function: Generate. The function receives a Person class and it will return a list of patterns for the email. MySql. It contains all the necessary to connect to a database. Database. This class inherits from MySql class. It has particular functions for the database. This gets all the registries from a table (function GetPeople) and return a List. Each person from the list contains all data except Email. Also it can add records (List but this must contains an available email). An available email is when an email doesn't have another person. For that reason, I have a method named ExistsEmail. Container. This is the class which is causing me some problems. It's like a temporary container. It supposed to have a people list from GetPeople (in Database class) and for each person it adds, it must generate a list of possible names (StringGenerator.Generate), then it selects one of the list and it must check out if exists in the database or in the same container. As I told above this is temporal, it may none of the possible emails is available. So the user can modify or enter a custom email available and update the list in this container. When all the email's people are available, it sends a list to add in the database, It must have a Flush method, to insert all the people in the database. I'm trying to design correct class. I need a little help to improve or edite the classes, because I want to separate the logic and visual, and learn of you. I hope you've been able to understand me. Any question or doubt, please let me know. Anyway, I attached the solution here to better understand it: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=D94FH8GZ

  • How to create an image from canvas data?

    - by Jakub Hampl
    In my application I am trying to save an arbitrary part of a rendered HTML canvas to an image file. In my Javascript I call ctx.getImageData(x, y, w, h) and pass the resulting object to my macruby code (though if you know a solution in objc I am also very interested). There I'm trying to create a NSBitmapImageRep object so that I can then save to an image format the user desires. This is my code so far (the function gets a WebScriptObject as it's argument): def setimagedata(d) w = d.valueForKey("width").to_i h = d.valueForKey("height").to_i data = Pointer.new(:char, d.valueForKey("data").valueForKey("length").to_i) d.valueForKey("data").valueForKey("length").to_i.times do |i| data[i] = d.valueForKey("data").webScriptValueAtIndex(i).to_i end puts "data complete" # get's called @exported_image = NSBitmapImageRep.alloc.initWithBitmapDataPlanes(data, pixelsWide: w, pixelsHigh:h, bitsPerSample: 32, samplesPerPixel: 4, hasAlpha: true, isPlanar: false, colorSpaceName: NSCalibratedRGBColorSpace, bitmapFormat: NSAlphaNonpremultipliedBitmapFormat, bytesPerRow: 0, bitsPerPixel: 0) puts "done" # doesn't get called end The code doesn't seem to get through the initWithBitmapDataPlanes function but gives no error. My question is: what am I doing wrong? Is this approach reasonable (if not, what would be better?).

  • AS3: currentFrame & stop ();

    - by Eleonara
    So, my next problem. Sorry for asking so much, but my teacher doens't respond. So, this doesn't work. The stop command doesn't seem too respond, but i don't get an error either. I know i miss a bracket, but my function isn't finished. Due to copy and paste the place of the brackets have shifted a bit. function Knipperen (event:TimerEvent):void { if (event.currentTarget.currentCount == 3 && geknipperd < 3) { geknipperd ++; timer.reset(); timer.start(); trace (geknipperd); gotoAndPlay(1); if (currentFrame == 13) { stop(); } }

  • Command to surround a character with spaces in vim

    - by William Becker
    I am trying to use vim properly - to aid me I've mapped my arrow keys to "" so that I am forced to use {hjlk} to move around. This is causing me a problem when I want to just surround a character with spaces, eg: "2+3" is better formatted "2 + 3" Previously I would have put my cursor over the + and typed: i[space][arrow-right][space][Esc] That's 5 presses. To do this without the arrow I seem to need to put the cursor over the + and go: i[space][Esc]lli[space][Esc] That's 8 presses. I can convert the "li" into an "a" which reduces it to 7 presses: i[space][Esc]la[space][Esc] Short of writing this into a macro is there a better way of doing it? Is there some magic vim command which will allow me to do it in less than even 5 presses - and some way to generalise it so that I can do it to entire words or symbols, eg if I want to convert 3==4 to 3 == 4?

  • Mask image does not appear on the screen

    - by Ponty
    I have imported to the library two images and have given them the custom class names MaskImage and MaskedImage. Then i write the code: package { import flash.display.*; public class MaskDemo extends Sprite { // Properties private var sprMaskedImage:Sprite; private var sprMaskImage:Sprite; private var bmMaskedImage:Bitmap; private var bmMaskImage:Bitmap; // Constructor public function MaskDemo() { do_magic(); } // Methods private function do_magic():void { bmMaskedImage = new Bitmap(new MaskedImage(0, 0)); bmMaskImage = new Bitmap(new MaskImage(0, 0)); sprMaskedImage = new Sprite(); sprMaskedImage.addChild(bmMaskedImage); sprMaskImage = new Sprite(); sprMaskImage.addChild(bmMaskImage); sprMaskedImage.mask = sprMaskImage; this.addChild(sprMaskImage); } } } But it does not appear anything on the display. Any ideas why is happening that?

  • jQuery focus on content of input / textarea - not working properly in IE8

    - by katebp
    I want the input fields on my site to select all the text when the user first clicks on them, but in IE8 the text is selected for a split second then reverts back to normal. Works fine in FF. My js code: $(document).ready(function () { //HTML DOM document is ready // Add this behavior to all text fields $("input[type='text'], textarea").live("focus", function(){ // Select field contents this.focus(); }); }); Any ideas? I've tried adding ".select()" after "this" and bizarrely enough it works, but throws loads of js errors in FF and IE. Thanks

  • Which event to catch for application shut down?

    - by xueru
    I am using jQueryMobile and phoneGap for a cross-device mobile application. I use html 5 local storage to persist records that worked on by user. I don't know which phoneGap event to catch just before application shut-down so I can make sure data is saved before shutdown completes. Base on suggestion from naughtur, I tried both unload and beforeunload events, neither of them got fired during app shutdown. Following is my code snip: function persistTasks(){ alert ("is unloading the app"); offlineTasklist.set("tasks", tasklist); } function init() { document.addEventListener("unload", persistTasks, false); login(); } $(document).ready(init);

  • jQuery: use filter(), but work with both results

    - by Tomalak
    In jQuery, filter() reduces your result to those elements that fulfill a certain condition. This splits the list in two parts. Working with the "good half" of the elements is easy: $("some selector").filter(function() { // determine result... return result; }).each( /* do something */ ); But how can I work with the "other half" of my elements, too - but without doing the equivalent of this: $("some selector").filter(function() { // determine result... return !result; }).each( /* do something */ ); Basically, I'd like to feed two separate /* do something */ parts to a single filter. One for those that match, and one for the others - without having to select and filter twice.

  • C++: Define simple string?

    - by Jason
    This thing is really wracking my mind. I'm learning C++ and I wanted to define a constant that I can use in another function, A short answer on how to do this will be fine.. Lets say at the beginning of my code I want to define this constant: //After #includes bool OS = 1; //1 = linux if (OS) { const ??? = "clear"; } else { const ??? = "cls"; } I don't know what type to use to define the "clear" string... I'm so confused. Later on I want to use it within a function: int foo() { system(::cls); //:: for global return 0; } How would I define the string up top, and use the string down below? I heard char only had one character and things... I'm not sure how to use , since it says it's converting string into const char or something.
