  I have a WPF application that will always run on windows 7, it opens and displays in full-screen mode There is a button within WPF app that opens up Word I would like the WPF application on opening up Word to send a command to the operating system so that it tiles both the WPF application and the Word application windows side by side, so that they each take up 50% of screen each. Is this possible? if yes would anyone know what the code may be? ( a bit like when you right click on windows 7 task bar and click Show Windows Side by Side)

  When creating an WPF application with the MVVM pattern, it seems I have to gather the necessary tools myself to even begin the most rudimentary event handling, e.g. AttachedBehaviors I get from here DelegateCommands I get from here Now I'm looking for some way to handle the ItemSelected event in a ComboBox and am getting suggestions of tricks and workarounds to do this (using a XAML trigger or have other elements bound to the selected item, etc.). Ok, I can go down this road, but it seems to be reinventing the wheel. It would be nice to just have an ItemSelected command that I can handle in my ViewModel. Am I missing some set of standard tools or is everyone doing MVVM with WPF basically building and putting together their own collection of tools just so they can do the simplest plumbing tasks with events and commands, things that take only a couple lines in code-behind with a Click="eventHandler"?

• Bash script — determine if file modified?

  I have a Bash script that repeatedly copies files every 5 seconds. But this is a touch overkill as usually there is no change. I know about the Linux command watch but as this script will be used on OS X computers (which don’t have watch, and I don’t want to make everyone install macports) I need to be able to check if a file is modified or not with straight Bash code. Should I be checking the file modified time? How can I do that? Edit: I was hoping to expand my script to do more than just copy the file, if it detected a change. So is there a pure-bash way to do this?

  My linux (fedora red hat 7) virtual dedicated server has been experiencing OOM multiple times a day for the past several days. I thought the issue was with spamd/spamassassin but after disabling this the errors remains. It is frustrating as I barely have anything running on the server and use the tiniest fraction of bandwidth.   I am embarking on some learning and I want to write my own syntax highlighting for files in C++. Can anyone give me ideas on how to go about doing this? To me it seems that when a file is opened: 1. it would need to be parsed and decided what type of source file it is. Trusting the extension might not be full-proof a way to know what keywords/commands apply to what language a way to decide what color each keyword/command gets I want to do this on OS X, C++ or Objective-C Can anyone provide pointers on how I might get started with this?

  rdoc --help says: --accessor, -A accessorname[,..] comma separated list of additional class methods that should be treated like 'attr_reader' and friends. Option may be repeated. Each accessorname may have '=text' appended, in which case that text appears where the r/w/rw appears for normal accessors. Does anyone have any working examples of doing this (both the accessor method definition and the rdoc command invocation)? No matter what combination I try, my accessors will not show up in the RDoc output. Thanks.

  I'm trying to make this command: sed bla bla filename | awk '{printf "%s %s_entry_%.3f %.3f %.3f %.3f",$1,$3,$4,$5,$6,$7}' But the thing is, i want the %.3f part to be variable. So in one case it could be %.3f and in another it could be %.3f %.3f %.3f. So i'll just use a static one in my example code for clarity. So if i want 4 of these %.3f and put them in variable $values like so: values="%.3f %.3f %.3f %.3f" Then how can i put this string in the awk expression, without making awk to just put literally "${values}" in there.   Hi all, Bumped into a somewhat weird problem... I want to turn the string: a\left(b_{d}\right) into a \left( b_{d} \right) in Scite using a Lua script. So, I made the following Lua script for Scite: function SpaceTexEquations() editor:BeginUndoAction() local sel = editor:GetSelText() local cln3 = string.gsub(sel, "\\left(", " \\left( ") local cln4 = string.gsub(cln3, "\\right)", " \\right) ") editor:ReplaceSel(cln4) editor:EndUndoAction() end The cln3 line works fine, however, cln4 crashes with: /home/user/sciteLuaFunctions.lua:49: invalid pattern capture >Lua: error occurred while processing command I think this is because bracket characters () are reserved characters in Lua; but then, how come the cln3 line works without escaping? By the way I also tried: -- using backslash \ as escape char: local cln4 = string.gsub(cln3, "\\right\)", " \\right) ") -- crashes all the same -- using percentage sign % as escape chare local cln4 = string.gsub(cln3, "\\right%)", " \\right) ") -- does not crash, but does not match either Could anyone tell me what would be the correct way to do this? • selenium RC doesnt run the whole test suite

  I'm trying to run an html testSuite with Selenium RC. The browser starts, the first test runs, and it stops. It doesnt continue to the second test case. I named both the test cases with .html extension. IAm using Firefox. If i run them manually , individually from the selenium RC test runner window they run ok. what am i missing, this seems pretty simple but yet iam not able to get this working. With the newest version this method produces a completely black image. nice /usr/local/bin/convert -colorspace gray -compress group4 /var/www/html/uploads/pokemon.jpg /var/www/html/uploads/pokemontest.jpg nice /usr/local/bin/convert -colors 2 /var/www/html/uploads/pokemontest.jpg /var/www/html/uploads/pokemontestfinal.jpg This results in a bitonal gray and black image, but it's really rough. NOT clean at all.

  Hello all, I just started working on python and I have been trying to run an outside executable form python. I have an executable for a program written in Fortran. Lets say the name for the executable is flow.exe. And my executable is lacated in C:\Documents and Settings\flow_model I tried both os.system and popen commands but so far couldnt make it work. The following code seems like opens the command window but wouldnt execute the model. # Import system modules import sys, string, os, arcgisscripting os.system("C:/Documents and Settings/flow_model/flow.exe") Any suggestions out there?   I can ask Delphi to build all configurations at once - by clicking on "Build configurations" and invoking "Make" command: This will build all configurations, one after another. The problem is that we have an IDE expert, which must react on compilation events. We register IOTAIDENotifier80 to hook events. There are BeforeBuild and AfterBuild events - we're interested in those. IOTAProject is passed to each event. The problem is: the active configuration is never changed. I.e. if you have "Debug" configuration selected (maked in bold) - all calls to BeforeBuild/AfterBuild events will return debug configuration profile (even though IDE compiles different profiles one after another). I mean properties of IOTAProject here. I also tried to use IOTAProjectOptionsConfigurations, but its ActiveConfiguration property always return the same "bolded" profile, regardless of current compiled one. The question is: is there a way to get the "real" current profile?

  I installed Qt for Mac, and am compiling my Qt project after adding in the .Pro file CONFIG(release, debug|release):QMAKE_CXXFLAGS += -O3 -fomit-frame-pointer to optimize for speed. However, I always see that the command where g++ is ran, includes -Os, which optimizes for size. I would like to remove it. I tried several approaches, like CONFIG(release, debug|release):QMAKE_CFLAGS_RELEASE -= -Os CONFIG(release, debug|release):QMAKE_CXXFLAGS -= -Os and CONFIG(release, debug|release):QMAKE_CXXFLAGS = -O3 -fomit-frame-pointer CONFIG(release, debug|release):QMAKE_CFLAGS_RELEASE = -O3 -fomit-frame-pointer (no +) But nothing. -Os ALWAYS appear. How do I change this? I found the qmake.conf file under /usr/local/QT4.5/mkspecs. It includes a mac-g++.conf file, but I cannot change it, and chmod doesn't work: chmod: mac-g++.conf: Operation not permitted Any ideas?

• Adding SQL Cache Dependencies to the Loosely coupled .NET Cache Provider

  This post adds SQL Cache Dependency support to the loosely coupled .NET Cache Provider that I described in the previous post (http://geekswithblogs.net/Rhames/archive/2012/09/11/loosely-coupled-.net-cache-provider-using-dependency-injection.aspx). The sample code is available on github at https://github.com/RobinHames/CacheProvider.git. Each time we want to apply a cache dependency to a call to fetch or cache a data item we need to supply an instance of the relevant dependency implementation. This suggests an Abstract Factory will be useful to create cache dependencies as needed. We can then use Dependency Injection to inject the factory into the relevant consumer. Castle Windsor provides a typed factory facility that will be utilised to implement the cache dependency abstract factory (see http://docs.castleproject.org/Windsor.Typed-Factory-Facility-interface-based-factories.ashx). Cache Dependency Interfaces First I created a set of cache dependency interfaces in the domain layer, which can be used to pass a cache dependency into the cache provider. ICacheDependency The ICacheDependency interface is simply an empty interface that is used as a parent for the specific cache dependency interfaces. This will allow us to place a generic constraint on the Cache Dependency Factory, and will give us a type that can be passed into the relevant Cache Provider methods. namespace CacheDiSample.Domain.CacheInterfaces { public interface ICacheDependency { } }   ISqlCacheDependency.cs The ISqlCacheDependency interface provides specific SQL caching details, such as a Sql Command or a database connection and table. Modifying ICacheProvider to accept Cache Dependencies Next I modified the exisitng ICacheProvider<T> interface so that cache dependencies may be passed into a Fetch method call. I did this by adding two overloads to the existing Fetch methods, which take an IEnumerable<ICacheDependency> parameter (the IEnumerable allows more than one cache dependency to be included). I also added a method to create cache dependencies. This means that the implementation of the Cache Provider will require a dependency on the Cache Dependency Factory. It is pretty much down to personal choice as to whether this approach is taken, or whether the Cache Dependency Factory is injected directly into the repository or other consumer of Cache Provider. I think, because the cache dependency cannot be used without the Cache Provider, placing the dependency on the factory into the Cache Provider implementation is cleaner. Now the interfaces are in place, I moved on to the concrete implementations. ISqlCacheDependency Concrete Implementation The concrete implementation of ISqlCacheDependency will need to provide an instance of System.Web.Caching.SqlCacheDependency to the Cache Provider implementation. Unfortunately this class is sealed, so I cannot simply inherit from this. Instead, I created an interface called IAspNetCacheDependency that will provide a Create method to create an instance of the relevant System.Web.Caching Cache Dependency type. This interface is specific to the ASP.NET implementation of the Cache Provider, so it should be defined in the same layer as the concrete implementation of the Cache Provider (the MVC UI layer in the sample code). Notice that I have not implemented the ICacheDependencyFactory interface. Castle Windsor will do this for me by using the Type Factory Facility. From the Visual Studio Command Prompt, the following commands should be used to enable the Cache Polling of the relevant database tables: aspnet_regsql -S <servername> -E -d <databasename> –ed aspnet_regsql -S <servername> -E -d CacheSample –et –t <tablename>   (The –t option should be repeated for each table that is to be made available for cache dependencies). Finally the SQL Cache Polling needs to be enabled by adding the following configuration to the <system.web> section of web.config: <caching> <sqlCacheDependency pollTime="10000" enabled="true"> <databases> <add name="BloggingContext" connectionStringName="BloggingContext"/> </databases> </sqlCacheDependency> </caching>   (obviously the name and connection string name should be altered as required). Using a SQL Cache Dependency Now all the coding is complete. The data will remain in the cache until the contents of this table change, then the cache item will be invalidated, and the next call to the GetAll() repository method will be routed to the parent repository to refresh the data from the database.

• How to build sqlite for Python 2.4?

  I would like to use pysqlite interface between Python and sdlite database. I have already Python and SQLite on my computer. But I have troubles with installation of pysqlite. During the installation I get the following error message: error: command 'gcc' failed with exit status 1 As far as I understood the problems appears because version of my Python is 2.4.3 and SQLite is integrated in Python since 2.5. However, I also found out that it IS possible to build sqlite for Python 2.4 (using some tricks, probably). Does anybody know how to build sqlite for Python 2.4? As another option I could try to install higher version of Python. However I do not have root privileges. Does anybody know what will be the easiest way to solve the problem (build SQLite fro Python 2.4, or install newer version of Python)? I have to mention that I would not like to overwrite the old version version of Python. Thank you in advance.

• Reversed Latitude/Longitude US Tiger/Line Shape File to MySQL w/ OGR2OGRP

  Hi - I've downloaded the latest set (2010) of TIGER edge shape files (ESRI shapefile format) from the US Census website and am loading them into MySQL using the GDAL ogr2ogr utility. A new table (geotest) does get created with a SHAPE column that has the geometry defined as a LINESTRING. However, I am seeing reversed latitude and longitude values that get reversed when running the following command: ogr2ogr -f "MySQL" MySQL:"geo,user=lejeuned,host=localhost,password=cnickl234" -nln geotest -nlt LINESTRING -append -a_srs "EPSG:4326" -lco engine=MYISAM tl_2010_01021_edges.shp Mapping the latitude/longitude (after reversing them of course) they appear to be spot on so I suspect there is just something I am doing wrong or flag I am missing which is causing the latitude and longitudes to be transposed. When I select the SHAPE column using astext() I get the following result: LINESTRING(-86.69863 32.973164,-86.69853 32.97302,-86.69856 32.97287,-86.698613 32.972825,-86.6988 32.972825,-86.6989 32.972892,-86.6989 32.973002,-86.69874 32.97316,-86.69864 32.97318,-86.69863 32.973164) Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

If I build a program, how can I get it to hide in the notifications area(windows 7, cant remember what it's called in XP or Vista) when I minimize it? Like say a Torrent program, or a AntiVirus program. Also I'd like to know, how can I hide it from the notifications area and bring it up when it a hotkey command is entered? Any clues on any of these two problems I'm having for an a program I am doing would be great. Thankyou

  I am looking for a way to programatically open the "New Document" dialog in Word 2007. It is the same one you get when you select File-New . You can also open it using the FileNew macro or the "New..." menu command. However, I have been unable to find a way to do this programmatically. I have tried: Application.Run MacroName:="FileNew" and Dialogs(wdDialogFileNew).Show and CommandBars.FindControl(ID:=5746).Execute but both of these open the old dialog, not the new one that word 2007 uses.

• cmake, gcc, cuda and -m32 wtf

  Hi all I figured out that CUDA does not work in 64bit mode on my mac (or couldn't get it running so far). Therefore I decided to compile everything for 32bit. I use cmake 2.8 and added the following options add_definitions(-Wall -m32) set(CUDA_64_BIT_DEVICE_CODE OFF) set(CMAKE_MODULE_LINKER_FLAGS -m32) However when it tries to link it it does something like this: /usr/bin/c++ -mmacosx-version-min=10.6 -Wl,-search_paths_first -headerpad_max_install_names CMakeFiles/SimpleTestsCUDA.dir/BlockMatrix.cpp.o CMakeFiles/SimpleTestsCUDA.dir/Matrix.cpp.o ./SimpleTestsCUDA_generated_SimpleTests.cu.o ./SimpleTestsCUDA_generated_BlockMatrix.cu.o -o SimpleTestsCUDA /usr/local/cuda/lib/libcudart.dylib /usr/local/cuda/lib/libcuda.dylib Which fails with a lot of "file is not of required architecture" warnings from ld. Now if I add manually -m32 to the command above it works. However I have no idea how to teach cmake to add -m32 to every gcc (or ld) invocation. So far it does it for nvcc and gcc, but not for linking..
