• Javascript not reading value from hidden textBox - JQuery C#

  I'm a non-specialist with JavaScript / JQuery and I'm having trouble figuring out why my script doesn't work. When my C# page loads, I have a hidden textBox txtHiddenKeywordArray which gets dynamically filled with comma separated values like... horse, buggy, track I'm trying to use the highlight functionality in jquery.highlight-3.js where I have a label text field that will contain and highlight the words in the keywords list. I'm using the script <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript"> var myString = document.getElementById('<%=txtHiddenKeywordArray.ClientID%>').val() myArray = myString.split(" "); $(document).ready(function () { for (i = 0; i < myArray.length; i++) $("p").highlight(myArray[i]) }); </script> Here is the textBox declaration : <asp:TextBox ID="txtHiddenKeywordArray" ClientIDMode="Static" runat="server" Visible="false"></asp:TextBox> It worked great when I hard coded the values of var myString. I've tried researching it and keep seeing the same example of the way I have it done. The page does use a MasterPage. Could this affect it? Any idea how I can get the script to see the values from the textbox? Do I need a RegisterStartUpScript or something? Thanks for any help you can provide.

• Displaying count for current_user 'likes' on a 'question' in questions/show.html.erb view

  I have an application that allows for users to create questions, create answers to questions, and 'like' answers of others. When a current_user lands on the /views/questions/show.html.erb page I am trying to display the total 'likes' for all answers on that question, for the current_user. In my Likes table I am collecting the question_id, site_id and the user_id and I have the appropriate associations set up between user, question, answers and likes. I think I just need to call this information the right way, which I can't seem to figure out. All of the below is taking place in the /views/questions/show.html.erb page. I have tried the following: <% div_for current_user do %> You have liked this question <%= @question.likes.count %> times <% end %> Which returns all the 'likes' for the question but not filtered by current_user You have liked this question <%= current_user.question.likes.count %> times Which gives an error of 'undefined method `question' You have liked this question <%= @question.current_user.likes.count %> times Which gives an error of 'undefined method `current_user' I have tried a couple of other things but they don't make as much sense as the above to me. What am I missing?

• How to get a category listing from Magento?

  I want to create a page in Magento that shows a visual representation of the categories.. example CATEGORY product 1 product 2 ANOTHER CATEGORY product 3 My problem is, their database is organised very differently to what I've seen in the past. They have tables dedicated to data types like varchar, int, etc. I assume this is for performance or similiar. I haven't found a way to use MySQL to query the database and get a list of categories. I'd then like to match these categories to products, to get a listing of products for each category. Unfortunately Magento seems to make this very difficult. Also I have not found a method that will work from within a page block.. I have created showcase.phtml and put it in the XML layout and it displays and runs it's PHP code. I was hoping for something easy like looping through $this-getAllCategories(); and then a nested loop inside with something like $category-getChildProducts(); Can anyone help me? Thank you!

• How can I hide this overlay element intelligently?

  The site I'm working on has a collection of navigation elements across the top ("Products", "Company", etc.). When you mouse over the Products link, an overlay appears that shows a list of products with links to each. There's a small link at the top of the container that, when clicked, closes the container. All of this works as advertised. The client has asked that, once a user's mouse pointer is a sufficient distance from the overlay element, the overlay element would close (without them having to click the 'close' link). This element appears on multiple pages that have disparate content, so I'm afraid it won't be as simple as adding a mouseover listener to another single element within the page and have it work everywhere. My question, I suppose, is this: is there a relatively easy way to know when the mouse cursor is x pixels away from this container and trigger an event when this occurs? My other thought is that I could just find several elements on the page that fit this criteria and add mouseover listeners to each, but I'm assuming there's a more elegant way of handling this. Thanks in advance - and please let me know if more detail is needed.

  I am trying to get/return multiple values from an SQL-Server database using and display them on an ASP.NET page. I am using a stored procedure to perform the SELECT command on the Database side. I am able to return the first value that matches the variable @PERSON but only one row is returned each time. Any help would be much appreciated. • TabBar Support of Three20 iPhone Photo Gallery

  Hi all, I wend through this tutorial and created a photo gallery for the iPhone. Now I want to add it to my TabBar project. I already heard, that Three20 doesn't support XIB, so I changed my whole tab bar setup to programmatically. I think I am not too far from a final solution. I was able to get the photo gallery working in one tab but without functions (click on a pic -- it opens, etc). There is no navigation on top of the page that leads you to the detail image page. I faced this when I removed this from didFinishLaunchingWithOptions-method in app delegate: // Override point for customization after application launch TTNavigator* navigator = [TTNavigator navigator]; TTURLMap* map = navigator.URLMap; [map from:@"demo://album" toViewController: [AlbumController class]]; [navigator openURLAction:[TTURLAction actionWithURLPath:@"demo://album"]]; return YES; I had to remove it because otherwise the whole tab bar is not shown. The photo gallery uses the whole screen. I am not sure if it is just not shown, or not loaded. I also tried: tabbar.hidesBottomBarWhenPushed = NO; But that did not work at all. I tried to add the TTNavigator-code to loadView(), viewDidLoad() and init() in the AlbumController itself without a result. Does anyone know where I have to put this in order to get it working? • RewitePath on IIS7 with .Net 3.5 or 4.0 - The resource cannot be found.

  In Global.asax handle errors by trying to redirect users to another page without changing the url in the address bar, that's why I am using RewritePath and not Redirect. void Application_Error(object sender, EventArgs e) { // Code that runs when an unhandled error occurs Context.RewritePath("~/Error.aspx", false); } Error.apsx in same root folder as About.aspx, and Default.aspx pages which of course work. Not sure I am having this issue. Have the following web.config file settings that I thought may be relevant: IIS7 settings: Application "TestRewriteUrl" under Default Web Site on DefaultAppPool. This example my seem trivial but I cannot use IIS7 HTTP Redirect as I actually was using this example to keep it simple. What I want to ultimately do is have a user type in http://www.somesite.com/myownpage and have it rewrite the path to another page in the same application directory by looking up the "myownpage" in the database to see what database id they have and redirect them to the correct "microsite" based on that without the user noticing a url change. Kind of like when you go to a blogging engine and no matter where in your blog you go the url remains the same. I don't want the user to go from http://www.mysite.com/tomshardware to http://www.mysite.com?id=8734656856. So that is why I used the simply example above to try and understand why the rewrite path does not work.

• Why does a checkbox remain checked in FF3 but not in IE, Chrome or ...

  So - I have a checkbox <asp:CheckBox ID="chkOrder" runat="server" Visible='<%#IsCheckBoxVisible() %>' Checked="false" OnCheckedChanged="chkOrder_CheckedChanged" AutoPostBack="true" EnableViewState="false"></asp:CheckBox> the one above. Now, the checkbox is in a gridview and on databound - for all the rows in the gridview the checkbox is set to false. The problem is that the first checkbox is still true checked. In IE the problem doesn't exist, same for Chrome. I'm running out of options. Also if i use $("checkboxName").attr("checked"); // verified on jquery ready function. In FF it is true; IE false; Chrome false. Any tips? EDIT Now get ready for this : in the generated html - there is NO checked attribute. The diff between FF and IE is exactly the same. Another thing - the grid that contains the checkboxes has an ajax panel on it and when I page the grid, try to go to page 2 - the checkedChanged in codebehind is triggered.

• Django Admin Running Same Query Thousands of Times for Model

  Running into an odd . . . loop when trying to view a model in the Django admin. Trying to look at a Resident in the admin takes 10-20 seconds. If I take 'self.association' out of the __unicode__ method for ResidentialUnit, a resident page renders pretty quickly. Looking at it in the debug toolbar, without the association name in ResidentialUnit (which is a foreign key on Resident), the page runs 14 queries. With the association name put back in, it runs a far more impressive 4,872 queries. The strangest part is the extra queries all seem to be looking up the association name. They all come from the same line, the __unicode__ method for ResidentialUnit. Each one is the exact same thing, e.g., SELECT `residents_association`.`id`, `residents_association`.`jenark_entity_id`, `residents_association`.`name` FROM `residents_association` WHERE `residents_association`.`id` = 1096 ORDER BY `residents_association`.`name` ASC I assume I've managed to create a circular reference, but if it were truly circular, it would just die, not run 4000x and then return. Having trouble finding a good Google or StackOverflow result for this.

• My website keeps crashing IE, can't debug

  I have a website that suddenly started to crash internet explorer. The website loads and starts executing javascript but somewhere in there the machinery explodes. I don't even get a script error, it just crashes. I've tried to manually step through every single line of js with the built in debugger but then of course the problem doesn't occur. If i choose to debug the application when it crashes i see the following message. Unhandled exception at 0x6c5dedf5 in iexplore.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x00000090. The top 5 items in the call stack looks like this VGX.dll!6c5dedf5() [Frames below may be incorrect and/or missing, no symbols loaded for VGX.dll] VGX.dll!6c594d70() VGX.dll!6c594f63() VGX.dll!6c595350() VGX.dll!6c58f5e3() mshtml.dll!6f88dd17() VGX.dll seems to be part of the vml renderer and i am in fact using VML. I'm not suprised because i've had so many problems with vml, attributes has to be set in specific order, sometimes you cant set attributes when you have elements attached to the dom or vice versa (everything undocumented btw) but then the problems can usually be reproduced when debugging but not now :( The problem also occurs in no plugin-mode. Is there a better approach than trial and error to solve this? Edit: Adding a console outputting every suspect modification to the DOM made the problem only occur sometimes. (the console is also implemented in javascript on the same page, i'm able to see the output even after a crash as the window is still visible) Apparently it seems to be some kind of race condition. I managed to track it down even further, and it seems to occur when you remove an object from the DOM too quickly after it's just been added. (most likely only for vml-elements with some special attribute, didn't try further) And it can't be fixed by adding a dead loop in front of removeChild(pretty bad solution anyway), the page has to be rendered by the browser once after the addChild before you can call removeChild. sigh

• Adding International support in Erlang Web 1.4

  I'm trying to add international support for a website based on the Erlang Web 1.4. I would like to have a couple of links on every page (the notorious Country flags) that allow the user to set his language session variable. What I have right now is a link like: <li><a href="/session/language/en">English</a></li> Where, in the session controller I do: language(Args) -> LanguageId = proplists:get_value(id, Args), case language_is_supported(LanguageId) of false -> ok; true -> wpart:fset("session:lang", LanguageId) end, {redirect, "/"}. The problem is that, after setting the preferred language, I would like the user to be redirected to the page he was visiting before changing the language. In this case the "__path" variable doesn't help because it contains the language request and not the "previous" one. How could I resolve this situation? I'm probably using the wrong approach but I cannot thing to anything else right now.

• CSS file in a Spring WAR returns a 404

  I have a J2EE application that I am building with Spring and Maven. It has the usual project structure. Here is a bit of the hierarchy. MyApplication src main webapp WEB-INF layout header.jsp styles main.css I want to include that CSS file in my JSP. I have the following tag in place. <c:url var="styleSheetUrl" value="/styles/main.css" /> <link rel="stylesheet" href="${styleSheetUrl}"> When I deploy the application, the CSS page isn't being located. When I view the page source, the href is /MyApplication/styles/main.css. Looking inside the WAR, there is a /styles/main.css. However, I get a 404 when I try to access the CSS file directly in the browser. I discovered that the reason for the issue was the Dispatcher Servlet mapping. The mapping looks as follows. <servlet-mapping> <servlet-name>Spring MVC Dispatcher Servlet</servlet-name> <url-pattern>/</url-pattern> </servlet-mapping> I imagine the Dispatcher Servlet doesn't know how to handle the CSS request. What is the best way to handle this issue? I would rather not have to change all of my request mappings.

It is laid out like (ul,li etc.) this so I can have each loaded form aligned under the relevant li. • Jquery conditionals, window locations, and viewdata. Oh my!

  I have one last thing left on a project and its a doozy. Not only is this my first web application, but its the first app i used Jquery, CSS and MVC. I have no idea on how to proceed with this. What i am trying to do is: In my controller, a waste item is validated, and based on the results one of these things can happen. The validation is completed, nothing bad happens, which sets ViewData["FailedWasteId"] to -9999. Its a new waste item and the validation did not pass, which sets ViewData["FailedWasteId"] to 0. Its an existing waste item and the validation did not pass, which sets ViewData["FailedWasteId"] to the id of the waste item. This ViewData["FailedWasteId"] is set on page load using <%=Html.Hidden("wFailId", int.Parse(ViewData["WasteFailID"].ToString()))%> When the validations do not pass, then the page zooms (by window.location) to an invisible div, opens the invisible div etc. Hopefully my intentions are clear with this poor attempt at jquery. The new waste div is and the existing item divs are dynamically generated (this i know works) " So my question here is... Help? I cant even get the data to parse correctly, nor can i even get the conditionals to work. • Cross domain iframe content load detection

  I have a rather interesting problem. I have a parent page that will create a modal jquery dialog with an iframe contained within the dialog. The iframe will be populated with content from a 3rd party domain. My issue is that I need to create some dialog level javascript that can detect if the content of the iframe loaded successfully and if it hasn't within a 5 second time frame, then to close the dialog and return the user to the parent page. I have researched numerous solutions and only two are of any true value. Get the remote site to include a javascript line of document.domain = 'our-domain.com'. Use a URL Fragment hack, but again I would need the request that the remote site able to modify the URL by appending '#some_value' to the end of the URL and my dialog window would have to poll the URL until it either sees it or times out. Are these honestly the only options I have to work with? Is there not a simpler way to just detect this? I have been researching if there's a way to poll for http response errors, but this still remains confined to the same restrictions. Any help would be immensely appreciated. Thanks

• Cookies not working for password-protected Pages on WordPress

  Initially I had the issue reported in this question. Now, what I noticed is that there are some browsers that accept the password, and there are some which don't. Difference? For some reason the cookie is generated when I log in into the Administration module, but it isn't when I write down the password to access the page, forcing it to simply reload. I can see the cookie created for the log-in, but I can see none for the password-protected Page. These happens on Internet Explorer, both version 7 and 8; only on some machines, though, but most of them fail this. I already tried white-listing the URL, and even letting it accept ALL cookies, to no avail. What may be the cause? If perhaps it's got something to do with question above, please help me! Thanks in advance. PS: If you know of another, cookie-free method to make a simple authentication, please link me to it. Thanks. Oh, and by the way, this is inside an Intranet with static, class C IPs.

  I am trying to get the count of the items in a sharepoint document library programatically. The scale I am working with is 30-70000 items. We have usercontrol in a smartpart to display the count . Ours is a TEAM site. This is the code to get the total count SPList VoulnterrList = web.Lists[ListTitle]; SPQuery query = new SPQuery(); query.ViewAttributes = "Scope=\"Recursive\""; string queries = "<Where><Eq><FieldRef Name='ApprovalStatus' /><Value Type='Choice'>Pending</Value></Eq></Where>"; query.Query = queries; SPListItemCollection lstitemcollAssoID = VoulnterrList.GetItems(query); lblCount.Text = "Total Proofs: " + VoulnterrList.Items.Count.ToString() + " Pending Proofs: " + lstitemcollAssoID.Count.ToString(); The problem is this has serious performance issue it takes 75 to 80 sec to load the page. if we comment this page load will decrees to 4 sec. • Best way to not update empty posts

If the user go to the page and edit values and that posts come as "" or empty (samething) then no update it let the query pass it, i got a logic but its a bit ugly and ill take alot of time. $nome = "'nome' =>" . $this->input->post('nome') .   Hi, i'm trying to join two independent forms (login and register) in the same page. My idea is (just looking at the signin form): Create an action that shows both forms (partials): public function executeLoginAndRegister(sfWebRequest $request){ $this->form_signin = $this->getUser()->getAttribute('form_signin'); } Each partial calls to its action: form action="php? echo url_for('@sf_guard_signin') ?" method="post" In the actions i write this code public function executeSignin($request) { //... $this->form = new $MyFormclass(); if ($this->form->isValid()) { //... }else{ // save the form to show the error messages. $this-&gt;getUser()-&gt;setAttribute('form_signin', $this-&gt;form); return $this-&gt;forward('sfGuardAuth', 'loginAndRegister'); } } It works, but, for example, if i execute LoginAndRegister and submit incorrectly the signin form and I go to another page and then return to LoginAndRegister, i will find the submiting error messages... If i execute LoginAndRegister and submit incorrectly the signin form and open another browser tab, i will find the submiting error messages in the signin form of the second tab... Any idea? any better approach?

  I want a create a custom/user control that has children (NOT a template control). For Example, I want my control to have the following markup: <div runat="server" id="div"> <label runat="server" id="label"></label> <div class="field"> <!-- INSERT CHILDREN HERE --> </div> </div> and when I want to use it on a page I simply: <ctr:MyUserControl runat="server" ID="myControl"> <span>This is a child</span> <div>And another <b>child</b> </ctr:MyUserControl> The child controls inside my user control will be inserted into my user control somewhere. What is the best way to accomplish this. The functionality is similar to a asp:PlaceHolder but I want to add a couple more options as well as additional markup and the such. Also the child controls still need to be able to be accessed by the page.

• Hide / Show menu code not working after postback

  I have a button on my web page that toggles the menu, After a postback the menu comes back despite me updating a hidden field value to store its state. Am I doing something wrong here? If there is a better way of doing it, let me know!
