Memory Warning but Small Live Bytes

Hi everyone, In my application, I get a memory warning of level 1 and then 2 after repeating some action (choosing a picture + processing) several times and then a crash. The leak tool doesn't show any leak. I'm also following the Allocations tool in Instruments and my Live Bytes are roughly 4 MB, overall I allocate 113 MB. At maximum I have maybe 20 MB in memory when the picture is loaded. Since I have to repeat an action to get to the crash, it is very likely to be a memory leak. However, I don't know how to locate it since my live bytes are 4 MB and things supposed to be allocated (apart a small leak of ~100 KB in the UIImagePickerController). How much can I trust the memory leak/allocation tools? Would you have an advice to help me locate the reason of the problem?

destroy an android service

I am using a service in my android app, which is called when an alarm is activated by a calander. When the service has been activated i want it to be destroyed by the OnStart() method once it has completed its code. My OnStart() method: @Override public void onStart(Intent intent, int startId) { super.onStart(intent, startId); Vibrator vi = (Vibrator) getSystemService(Context.VIBRATOR_SERVICE); vi.vibrate(5000); Toast.makeText(this, "MyAlarmService.onStart()", Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show(); //CODE HERE TO DESTROY SERVICE?? } This bassically means when the service is called it runs the code in the OnStart() method and i want it to destroy itself. iphone navigation tutorial with simple form

Hi All, I'm looking to create quite a basic app with a very simple navigation system but each of the tutorials I've come across so far go into too much depth or just involve lots of different form elements. I want to keep it as straight forward and simple as I can. If anyone knows of any tutorials that can show me how to create a root view with say 5 or 6 sub views each displaying a form for collecting different types of data I would be very grateful. This seems like quite a simple thing to achieve but so far I havent found anything that specifically relates to what I want to do. thanks in advance!

Can Qt's QWebView display programatically generated XML?

Using Qt 4.6, I can dynamically add to an HTML page like this: ui->webView->page()->mainFrame()->documentElement().findFirst("body").appendInside("<i>some text</i>\n"); However, if I QWebView::load() an XML file, it displays it with the correct CSS styling (from an processing instruction), but doesn't show any changes when I do something like: ui->webView->page()->mainFrame()->documentElement().findFirst("lines").appendInside("<line>hello</line>\n"); Why is it treating them differently, and is there a way to modify an XML document in the same way I can an HTML one?

jqplot format tooltip values

I want to have a tooltip hover highlight thingy in jqplot. The problem is that I want it to give more detail then on the axes. So the formatter should be different. I can't get it to display the seconds to: There's a JS fidle here! I want the timestamp to display as hours:minutes:seconds, which would be format string '%H:%M:%S' or '%T' or '%X'. Refresh a control on the master page after postback

Hi all! What i am trying to do here is to show a couple of validation messages in form of a bulletlist, so i have a Div on my master page containing a asp:bulletlist. Like this: <div> <asp:BulletedList ID="blstValidationErrorMessage" runat="server" BulletStyle="Disc"> </asp:BulletedList> </div> When i then click the Save button from any of my pages (inside the main contentPlaceHolder) i create a list of messages and give this list as datasouce like this: blstValidationErrorMessage.DataSource = validationMessageCollection; blstValidationErrorMessage.DataBind(); The save button is located inside an updatepanel: asp:UpdatePanel runat="server" ID="UpdatePanel" ChildrenAsTriggers="true" UpdateMode="Conditional" Nothing happens, i can see that the datasource of the bulletlist contains X items, the problems must arise because the Save button is inside an update panel and the elements outside this updatepanel (master page controls for example) is not refreshed. So my question is, how do i make the bulletlist refresh after the postback? Thanks in advance.

I have custom SiteMapProvider and RoleProvider that works together properly: IsAccessibleToUser returns false if current user's role isn't mentioned in SiteMapNode.Roles for page requested. So breadcrumbs or menu doesn't show an item. But user still can type now showed URL directly and open a page. How can I block such behavior? Where is a good place to go to find a job where I can (frequently) use Haskell? Just to be clear, I am not asking: What's the Haskell market like? Why is Haskell used so little in the industry? What is Haskell actually useful for? Nor am I asking you to tell me that Haskell jobs can't be found. That is the default conclusion if no good responses show up here. I am asking, for the 2 or 3 Haskell jobs that are out there, how can I find them?

Prototype Ajax.Updater Response OK, but not showing up in FF. working in Safari!

Hi, I've got a quite strange problem here. I'm calling some simple code via Ajax.Updater: new Ajax.Updater('load','http://myurl.com/demo.pl?key=demokey&param1=xyz&param2=abc',{ method:'get', onComplete:function(transport){ alert(transport.responseText) } }); which gets some code like this: <img id="2009_04_15_1239786246" src='../pv/100/2009_04_15_1239786246-01.jpg' border="1"> <img id="2009_04_15_1239786066" src='../pv/100/2009_04_15_1239786066-01.jpg' border="1"> ... and so on This code shows up in my firebug console as my server response, so everything should be fine. No errors here at all. Works fine in Safari. Firefox, according to Firebug, knows there is a response, but it won't show a thing in my div 'load' and the alert(transport.responseText) is also empty. I have no idea what could be the problem here.

Prototype mouseleave for two elements

I have created a small navigation element that is positioned right on top of another element. It is only shown when a user mousenters/mouseovers the main element. I am having some trouble with the prototype. I would like this small nav element to be hidden when a user mouses out of the main box, but I would also like the small nav element to remain visible if a user mouses out of the main box but mouses into the small nav at the same time. This is my attempt so far with some pseudo-code to hopefully explain: $('main_box').observe('mouseenter', function(){ $('small_div').show() }) $('main_box').observe('mouseleave', function(){ if this element is $('small_div') then Event.stop() $('small_div').observe('mouseleave', function(){ if this element is $('main_box') Event.stop observe $('main_box') mouseleave else $('small_div').hide(); }) else $('small_div').hide(); }) The main thing I'm having trouble with is figuring out what element the mouse is over at a given point in time. Is there a way to do something like: on mouseleave do blah unless the mouse is over a specific element then do not do blah?

Hi I’m trying to do some validation in asp .net MVC 2.0 for my application. I want to have some nice client side validation. Validation should be done most time on model side with DataAnnotations with custom attributes( like CompareTo, StringLenght, MinPasswordLenght (from Membership.MinimumumpassworkdLenght value). For that purpose I tried to use xval with jquery.validation. Some specific thing is that most of forms will be working with ajax and most problems are when I want to validate form with ajax. The worst thing is that even if we have different types and their fields name is same validation won’t work too ( this thing is what I need to repair it will be stupid to name some unique properites for validation ). Is there any solution for this ? Custom attributes validation Next thing custom attributes validation ( All those error are when I use Ajax for on normal form validation is working without problem. ): CompareTo - Simple compare to that is done in mvc template for account model ( class attribute saying with two property will be compared ) , and it wasn’t show on page. To do it I created own CachingRulesProvider with compareRule and my Attribute. Maybe there is more easy way to do it? StringLenght with minimum and maximum value, I won’t describe how I done it but is there any easy whey to do it? Validation summary When I have two two control on page all summary validation information goes to first control validation summary element, even xval generated script say that elementID are different for summary. Any one know how to repair it? Validation Information Is there any option to turn on messages on place where is Html.ValidationMessageFor(model = model.ConfirmPassword). Becsoue for me it isn’t show up. I would like to have summary and near field information too not only red border. Any one know how to do it? Ajax submit Anyone know how to do easy without massive code in javascript to do submit via javascript. This will be used to change input submit to href element (a). Both look same the difference is only validation summaryID

haml / rails: yield title with german umlauts

Hi, I would like to do something like this in my application layout: %title= "#{yield(:sub_title)} - Page Name" and in a real view - content_for :sub_title do Übersicht # I tried Übersicht, != "Übersicht" and a bunch of other methods what happens is, I either get the black pound with the question mark in it - wrong encoding or the raw string (&UumI;bersicht). Does anyone know a way how to get this to work? Another requirement is that I'd like to show user generated content in the title and this content may or may not have umlauts in it. Used versions: Haml 3.0.11, Rails 3 beta4 and currently for development JRuby 1.5

webOS style view switching on iPhone app

Hello, I have been working with a iPhone app that I would like to have switch views like the Palm Pre does for multitasking. I know the usual way of switching views by using the black bar at the bottom of the app but the app I am working on does not lend itself to having a big black bar in the way (see attached picture #1). I guess my question is, how do I shrink the current view (Current Location window) and show other views on the sides? (see attached picture #2) Then be able to swipe left and right to view other views. How can I see what capybara found in a failing cucumber step?

I started migrating from cucumber + webrat to cucumber + capybara. Now the behavior of "I should see " seems to be somewhat different. Most of these fail now, although I didn't change anything on the page. I replaced the snippet that should be found with some stuff that is on every page and for some text it works and for other text it doesn't. I can't find any pattern in what is found in the page's content and what is not. Webrat used to print what the page content is that it found, in case it did not contain the required phrase. Is there anyway to have capybara show what text it got from the page in which it tried to find the text?

Track/Display Array Index As Part Of Cout (C++)

Hi, I have a command line C++ program that lets you enter basic information about a person (ID number, name, age, etc.) and I want to output to a console in the following manner: ------------------------------------------------------------------- Index ID # First Name Last Name Age ------------------------------------------------------------------- 0 1234 John Smith 25 The person objects are stored in an array of Persons and I've overload the ostream (<<) operator to print out all of the fields like you see. The dashed lines and header come from a displayHdg() function. Anyhow, I have not been able to figure out how to get the proper index value for the array. Ideally, I'd like to generate the indices for each line, but all my attempts have failed. The array is looped through and each object printed in the main() function, and the ostream is overloaded in a person class, so I tried to use global variables as well as static variables, and all of those produce incorrect numbering (i.e. show 0, 1 the first time (for 2 objects), then change to 1, 2 on the next display). Any ideas?

How and with what software do major television companies display on-screen graphics during their programs? For example: On ESPN, how do they produce the news ticker on the bottom (both graphically and from a source code point of view), create and display the scores of sports, and update and show selected stats on the fly? I've looked everywhere I can think of to find the answer, but I am at a loss. That's where you guys (and girls) come in. I hope you can help shed some light on this subject for me. I like to use the "UserControl TestContainer" that works great for testing a controls properties during design time. Yet it has limitations. Usually, I just create a Windows Form Application to test the control's run-time interface. It would be nice to combine the two phases. Today, I discovered that the test-container is defined in the project file as show below. What I like to do is create my own test-container and use it for my Windows Forms Control Library projects in Visual Studio 2008. I cannot find any specific documentation, and the documentation I found was related to MSTest and not helpful. Flex Tile that expands as items are added to it

When I add 50 new buttons to it, a vertical scrollbar is added. How can I make it not show the scrollbar but change it's height dynamically so that all the added items are always shown. Kinda like an "expanding" tile.
