• Linq ChangeConflictException (ASP.NET MVC) - occurs when submitting DataContext changes

  System.Data.Linq.ChangeConflictException: 2 of X updates failed. at System.Data.Linq.ChangeProcessor.SubmitChanges(ConflictMode failureMode) at System.Data.Linq.DataContext.SubmitChanges(ConflictMode failureMode) at PROJECT.Controllers.HomeController.ClickProc(Int32 id, String code, String n) This is what I get very often. This action is done thousands of times a day, and I get this exception about once every 5 seconds. From what I understand it happens when something changes in the database in the period between creating DataContext and updating it. Am I right? What's the problem here and how can I fix it?

• Trying to filter a ListView with runQueryOnBackgroundThread but nothing happens - what am I missing?

  I have a list of countries in a database. I have created a select country activity that consists of a edit box for filtering and a list which displays the flag and country name. When the activity starts the list shows the entire list of countries sorted alphabetically - works fine. When the customer starts typing into the search box I want the list to be filtered based on their typing. My database query was previously working in an AutoCompleteView (I just want to switch to a separate text box and list) so I know my full query and my constraint query are working. What I did was add a TextWatcher to the EditText view and every time the text is changed I invoke the list's SimpleCursorAdapter runQueryOnBackgroundThread with the edit boxes text as the constraint. The trouble is the list is never updated. I have set breakpoints in the debugger and the TextWatcher does make the call to runQueryOnBackgroundThread and my FilterQueryProvider is called with the expected constraint. The database query goes fine and the cursor is returned. • Problem Executing Async Web Request

  Hi Can anyone tell me what I've done wrong with this simple code? When I run it it hangs on using (Stream postStream = request.EndGetRequestStream(asynchronousResult)) If I comment out the requestState.Wait.WaitOne(); line the code executes correctly but obviously doesn't wait for the response. I'm guessing the the call to EndGetRequestStream is somehow returning me to the context of the main thread?? • How can I tell when changes to jquery html() have finished ?

  I'm using jQuery to change the HTML of a tag, and the new HTML can be a very long string. $("#divToChange").html(newHTML); I then want to select elements created in the new HTML, but if I put the code immediately following the above line it seems to create a race condition with a long string where the changes that html() is making may not necessarily be finished rendering. In that case, trying to select the new elements won't always work. What I want to know is, is there an event fired or some other way of being notified when changes to html() have finished rendering ? I came across the jQuery watch plugin, which works alright as workaround but it's not ideal. Is there a better way ?

  So, I have a file called 'dummy' which contains the string: "There is 100% packet loss at node 1". I also have a small script that I want to use to grab the percentage from this file. The script is below. result=`grep 'packet loss' dummy` | awk '{ first=match($0,"[0-9]+%") last=match($0," packet loss") s=substr($0,first,last-first) print s}' echo $result I want the value of $result to basically be 100% in this case. But for some reason, it just prints out a blank string. Can anyone help me?

• Android Reading from an Input stream efficiently

  Hey, I am making an HTTP get request to a website for an android application I am making. I am using a DefaultHttpClient and using HttpGet to issue the request. I get the entity response and from this obtain an InputStream object for getting the html of the page. I then cycle through the reply doing as follows: BufferedReader r = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(inputStream)); String x = ""; x = r.readLine(); String total = ""; while(x!= null){ total += x; x = r.readLine(); } However this is horrendously slow. Is this inefficient? I'm not loading a big web page - www.cokezone.co.uk so the file size is not big. Is there a better way to do this? Thanks Andy

  I'm trying to make a meta-language for writing markup code (such as xml and html) wich can be directly embedded into C/C++ code. I need to build an interpreter to translate this code to html and posteriorly insert it into C, so that it can be compiled. The C part stays intact. Inside the wdi source it is not necessary to use prints, every return statement will be used for output (in printf function). The program's output will be clean html code. So, for example a heading 1 tag would be transformed like this: h1 { "Hello, " + toCapital(name) + "!"; } // would become: printf("<h1>Hello, %s!</h1>", toCapital(name)); My main goal is to create an interpreter to translate wdi source to html like this: tag(attributes) {content} = <tag attributes>content</tag> Secondly, html code returned by the interpreter has to be inserted into C code with printfs. Variables and functions that occur inside wdi should also be sorted in order to use them as printf parameters (the case of toCapital(name) in sample source). I am searching for efficient (I want to create a fast parser) way to create a lexer and parser for wdi. Already tried flex and bison, but as I am not sure if they are the best tools. Are there any good alternatives? What is the best way to create such an interpreter? Can you advise some brief literature on this issue?

For escaping HTML characters I used: txtOut.Text = Regex.Replace(txtIn.Text, @"[\u0080-\uFFFF]", m => @"&#" + ((int)m.Value[0]).ToString() + ";"); But I'm not sure how to convert the match to the correct hexadecimal format that JS uses. For example this code: txtOut.Text = Regex.Replace(txtIn.Text, @"[\u0080-\uFFFF]", m => @"%" + String.Format("{0:x}", ((int)m.Value[0]))); Returns "%a9%221a" for "©v" instead of "%C2%A9%E2%88%9A". It looks like I need to split the string up into bytes or something. Edit: This is for a windows app, the only items available in System.Web are: AspNetHostingPermission, AspNetHostingPermissionAttribute, and AspNetHostingPermissionLevel.

  I would love to thank @Stefan Steinegger and @David helped me out yesterday with many-to-many mapping. I have 3 tables which are "News", "Tags" and "News_Tags" with Many-To-Many relationship and the "News_Tags" is the link table. If I delete one of the news records, the following mappings will delete all my news records which have the same tags. One thing I need to notice, I only allowed unique tag stored in the "Tag" table. This mapping make sense for me, it will delete the tag and related News records, but how can I implement a tagging system with NHibernate? Can anyone give me some suggestion? Many thanks. Daoming. Usually I generate the target urls using url view helper, but for this I need to specify all params, so I would need to manually explode the string. • JButton Image Ignoring GridBagConstraints

  I am working on an application and have a screen that needs to have elements (namely some custom JButtons) appear and disappear based on a user selection. However for some reason, when I add these buttons to their pane, the buttton image goes to the top corner, and leaves the text in the center, completely ignoring GridBagConstraints. I am completely stumped on this one as I have done this same exact thing dozens of times earlier in the program without any issues. Can it somehow convert 2 to 1.999 and then to 1 if I call MyConvert<int>("2") ? I was wondering why the Convert class isn't templated in the first place? (That would let me call Convert<T> instead of Convert.ToDouble() for all types) This is C++/Cli so I can use any convert methods in c++ or .net, but I only know Convert.ToDouble()|ToString()|ToInt32()) Thanks

These problem are consistent across multiple Mac systems running Java SE 6 under OS 10.5.x and 10.6.x, but they are never observed when one reverts to J2SE 5.0. If there is some background information pertinent to this problem that I have omitted, please let me know.
