  • How to make a ToolStripComboBox to fill all the space available on a ToolStrip?

    A ToolStripComboBox is placed after a ToolStripButton and is folowed by another one, which is right-aligned. How do I best set up the ToolStripComboBox to always adjust its length to fill all the space available between the preceeding and the folowing ToolStripButtons? In past I used to handle a parent resize event, calculate the new length to set based on neighboring elements coordinates and setting the new size. But now, as I am developing a new application, I wonder if there is no better way.

  • How to match multiple substrings in jQuery combobox autocomplete

    I found more than a couple examples of this with a plain jquery autocomplete but not in a way that will work with the autocomplete included in the combobox code from the demo because the structure of the code is structured so differently. I want to match every item that has all of the search tokens anywhere in any word. I don't need to match the start of any word, any part of it is fine. I don't care if the search strings are highlighted in the autocomplete list if that makes things too complicated. Desired search/result combos: (please excuse the spacing) "fi th" "fi rst second th ird" "rs on" "fi rs t sec on d third" "ec rd" "first s ec ond thi rd" but not limited to any max/min length or number of tokens. Is that the problem or the option: this? I've tried replacing it with HTMLOptionElement and null and I'm stuck. I am able to set the value of another field with ui.item.value within the select label but that doesn't put the value in the search box or close the dropdown menu.   • Making a JQuery tooltip retrieve a new value every time the mouse moves.

    As i am developing an application that makes use of a tooltip that will display a different value when the user moves the mouse. The user mouses over a table cell and the application then generates a number, the further right the cursor moves in the cell, the higher the value increases. I have created a tooltip that runs and when the cursor mouses over the cell, it does indeed show the correct value. But, when the i move the mouse, it does not show the new value but just the older one.   • Is there a recommended approach to handle saving data in response to within-site navigation without

    Hello all, Preamble to scope my question: I have a web app (or site, this is an internal LAN site) that uses jQuery and AJAX extensively to dynamically load the content section of the UI in the browser. A user navigates the app using a navigation menu. Clicking an item in the navigation menu makes an AJAX call to php, and php then returns the content that is used to populate the central content section. One of the pages served back by php has a table form, set up like a spreadsheet, that the user enters values into. This table is always kept in sync with data in the database. So, when the table is created, is it populated with the relevant database data. Then when the user makes a change in a "cell", that change immediately is written back to the database so the table and database are always in sync. This approach was take to reassure users that the data they entered has been saved (long story...), and to alleviate them from having to click a save button of some kind. So, this always in sync idea is great, except that a user can enter a value in a cell, not take focus out of the cell, and then take any number of actions that would cause that last value to be lost: e.g. navigate to another section of the site via the navigation menu, log out of the app, close the browser, etc. End of preamble, on to the issue: I initially thought that wasn't a problem, because I would just track what data was "dirty" or not saved, and then in the onunload event I would do a final write to the database. Herein lies the rub: because of my clever (or not so clever, not sure) use of AJAX and dynamically loading the content section, the user never actually leaves the original url, or page, when the above actions are taken, with the exception of closing the browser. Therefore, the onunload event does not fire, and I am back to losing the last data again. My question, is there a recommended way to handle figuring out if a person is navigating away from a "section" of your app when content is dynamically loaded this way? I can come up with a solution I think, that involves globals and tracking the currently viewed page, but I thought I would check if there might be a more elegant solution out there, or a change I could make in my design, that would make this work.   • Flex: convert VideoPlayer.currentTime to string "00:00:00:000"

    I have a javascript action on a div (asp.net panel) as an onkeypress attribute. This is the default action button on an asp.net Panel control. It contains the following: onkeypress="javascript:return WebForm_FireDefaultButton(event, 'ctl00_cp1_ucInvoiceSearch_btnSearch')" For some reason when I change my textbox to a jQuery textbox clicking enter no longer fires this div. Why and how can I hook it back up so when I enter text in the textbox and click enter it fires? Lloyd

Using FirBug, I see that the input value is nothing <input type="text" name="startDate" value="" id="startDate" class="hasDatepicker"> I'm able to retrieve selected date when using jQuery serialize. So how can I retrieve the selected date?

I'm using jQuery, so I naturally tried the $('#textarea_id').change() event. But it's never triggered because I guess the textarea never loses focus. What's the best way to monitor that textarea, preferably hidden (css has display:none)? Please don't tell me setInterval...

Is there an event that occurs or something? (And just for the record, I know that these sorts of things are impossible when other apps post on my behalf, at least from an extension perspective. So I'm only concentrating on posts that I actually click the "post" button, or enter for, myself.)

  • Need to place a floating modeless form over excel main window (quasi-task pane)

    Hi I need to emulate a task pane by floating a modeless form over the Excel main window. The reason for this requirement is that I need to have taskpane features for my Excel 2003 add-in, but cannot use the document-centric model. Can anyone suggest what would be the best way to do this? The modeless form would need to detect the main window resize event and resize itself accordingly, and also need to always position itself at the bottom of the window (kind of like a docking pane).

    We have a drop-down menu of volumes in our UI, and I'd like to update it when a new disk is mounted. In the Classic days, this would involve watching for a diskEvt event. In Carbon, I think this was kEventClassVolume. What's the Cocoa equivalent? (A pointer into Apple's documentation on this would satisfy the question. I've been unable to find anything!)

  • Getting a borderless window to receive mouseMoved events (Cocoa OSX)

    I have a little popup window used for selecting images sorted by groups, and I would like to add a selection box around whatever image is being hovered over. I am trying to this by overriding the mouseMoved event for the window but it seems that a window that has a border-less style mask receives no mouseMoved events even if you have set setAcceptsMouseMoved events to YES. Is there anyway to make a borderless window receive this events?
