  • Joomla get plugin id

    - by Christian Sciberras
    I wrote a Joomla plugin which will eventually load a library. The path to library is a plugin parameter, as such when the path is incorrect, a message pops up in the backend, together with a link to edit the plugin parameters: /administrator/index.php?option=com_plugins&view=plugin&client=site&task=edit&cid[]=36 See the 36 at the end? That's my plugin's id in the database (table jos_plugins). My issue is that this id changes on installation, ie, on different installs, it would be something else. So I need to find this id programmatically. The problem is that I couldn't find this id from the plugin object itself (as to why not, that would be joomla's arguably short-sighted design decision). So unless you know about some neat trick, (I've checked and double checked JPlugin and JPluginHelper classes), I'll be using the DB. Edit; Some useful links: http://docs.joomla.org/Plugin_Developer_Overview http://api.joomla.org/Joomla-Framework/Plugin/JPlugin.html http://api.joomla.org/Joomla-Framework/Plugin/JPluginHelper.html http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?p=2227737 Guess I'll be using the wisdom from that last link...

  • How to make this jQuery snippet work in Internet Explorer?

    - by George Edison
    If there was ever a time to hate IE, this is it. This code begins with a box with content. When the button is clicked, the box is supposed to drop down and fade-in. <html> <script type="text/javascript" src="jquery.js"></script> <script type='text/javascript'> function Test() { var item_height = $('#test').height(); $('#test').height(0); $('#test').css('opacity','0'); $('#test').animate({ height: item_height, opacity: '1' },400); } </script> <body> <!-- The div below holds the sample content --> <div id="test" style='border: 1px solid black;'> Content<br> Content<br> Content<br> Content<br> Content </div> <!-- The button to test the animation --> <br><br> <div style='position: absolute; top: 150px; left: 10px;'> <button onclick='Test();'>Test</button> </div> </body> </html> This very simple example works on Chrome, Safari, and Opera. But Internet Explorer? No. How can I (if it's even possible) fix this so that it works in IE?

  • Does a jQuery selector by id always work without quotes and # sign?

    - by anarinsky
    I suddenly found that while using Mozilla / jQuery v1.8.2 I do not need to use the id with quotes and # sign. For example, $(bt2) works the same as $(“#bt2”), see the code below. Will this selector always work and are there any potential drawbacks from using this shorter form of selection? <html> <head> <title>append</title> <script type="text/javascript" src="jquery.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready (function(){ $(bt2).click(function(){ $(i1).append("<li>a4</li>", "<li>a5</li>"); }); }); </script> </head> <body> <button id="Button1">Append List</button> <ul id="i1"> <li>a1</li> </ul> </body> </html>

  • Corrupt output with an HttpModule

    - by clementi
    I have an HttpModule that looks at the query string for a parameter called "cmd" and executes one of a small set of predefined commands that display server stats in XML. For example, http://server01?cmd=globalstats. Now, on rare occasions, like once out of hundreds of times, I will get corrupt output like this: <!-- the stats start displaying fine... --> <stats> <ServerName>SERVER01</ServerName> <StackName>Search</StackName> <TotalRequests>945</TotalRequests> <!-- ...until something has gone awry and now we're getting the markup of the home page! --> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> ...the rest of the home page markup... (Remove the comments in the example above.) I'm not all that familiar with HttpModules and the IIS pipeline, but could this be a threading problem? Or, what else?

  • Looping Through Database Query

    - by DrakeNET
    I am creating a very simple script. The purpose of the script is to pull a question from the database and display all answers associated with that particular question. We are dealing with two tables here and there is a foreign key from the question database to the answer database so answers are associated with questions. Hope that is enough explanation. Here is my code. I was wondering if this is the most efficient way to complete this or is there an easier way? <html> <head> <title>Advise Me</title> <head> <body> <h1>Today's Question</h1> <?php //Establish connection to database require_once('config.php'); require_once('open_connection.php'); //Pull the "active" question from the database $todays_question = mysql_query("SELECT name, question FROM approvedQuestions WHERE status = active") or die(mysql_error()); //Variable to hold $todays_question aQID $questionID = mysql_query("SELECT commentID FROM approvedQuestions WHERE status = active") or die(mysql_error()); //Print today's question echo $todays_question; //Print comments associated with today's question $sql = "SELECT commentID FROM approvedQuestions WHERE status = active"; $result_set = mysql_query($sql); $result_num = mysql_numrows($result_set); for ($a = 0; $a < $result_num; $a++) { echo $sql; } ?> </body> </html>

  • loading remote page into DOM with javascript

    - by scoobydoo
    I am trying to write a web widget which will allow users to display customized information (from my website) in their own web page. The mechanism I want to use (for creating the web widget) is javascript. So basically, I want to be able to write some javascript code like this (this is what the end user copies into their HTML page, to get my widget displayed in their page) <script type="text/javascript"> /* javascript here to fetch page from remote url and insert into DOM */ </script> I have two questions: how do I write a javascript code to fetch the page from the remote url? Ideally this will be PLAIN javascript (i.e. not using jQuery etc - since I dont want to force the user to get third party scripts jQuery which may conflict with other scripts on their page etc) The page I am fetching contains inline javascript, which gets executed in an body.onLoad event, as well as other functions which are used in response to user actions - my questions are: i). will the body.onLoad event be triggered for the retrieved document?. ii). If the retrieved page is dumped directly into the DOM, then the document will contain two <body> sections, which is no longer valid (X)HTML - however, I need the body.onLoad event to be triggered for the page to be setup correctly, and I also need the other functions in the retrieved page, for the retrieved page to be able to respond to the user interaction. Any suggestions/tips on how I can solve these problems?

  • Basic CSS trouble

    - by user310108
    I guess this is fairly simple for you but i cant wrap my head around it. I ripped out the important part. I got text inside #content so i cant change it and i dont want to use !important tag. The css is presented in the order it is placed in my css file. How come the "#content h2 a, #content h2 a:visited" overrides the .post-header h2 a? <html> <head> ..... </head> <div id="content"> ..... <div class="post-header"> <a href="#">my text</a> </div> </div> </html> #content h2 a, #content h2 a:visited { font-family:"arial black","lucida console",sans-serif; } .post-header h2 a { font-family:Arial,sans-serif; } /Joel

  • Can you explain how to understand what the 'iwconfig' command displays in Ubuntu-9.04?

    - by Shawn
    I'm having trouble making my wireless connection work, and I realized I don't really know how to use the tools I have, in this case, the iwconfig command in Ubuntu-9.04. Here is what I get: ***iwconfig*** - lo no wireless extensions. eth0 no wireless extensions. wmaster0 no wireless extensions. wlan0 IEEE 802.11bgn ESSID:"Network" Mode:Managed Frequency:2.412 GHz Access Point: Not-Associated Tx-Power=20 dBm Retry min limit:7 RTS thr:off Fragment thr=2352 B Power Management:off Link Quality:0 Signal level:0 Noise level:0 Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0 Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0 vboxnet0 no wireless extensions. pan0 no wireless extensions. "Network" is the name of my wireless network, btw. But what does this all mean? How can this information help me aquire a working wireless connection? When I try associating a key using sudo iwconfig wlan0 key s:my_key I get the following error message: Error for wireless request "Set Encode" (8B2A) : SET failed on device wlan0 ; Invalid argument. I do have the right key though, so what's the problem?

  • Mobile site not rendering mobile within iframe

    - by user2788371
    I'm launching a mobile version of an existing corporate web application that currently loads in an iframe for corporate authentication purposes. When accessing the web app's direct link from a mobile device, it displays beautifully. The problem is that when accessing through the iframe, the site doesn't seem to scale correctly and it looks more like I'm accessing the desktop version of the site. Any suggestions on how make the site within the iframe recognize the mobile device's width and adjust appropriately? I've tried setting the viewport within the HTML and CSS of the site being loaded and even then I'm not getting the change I expect on my iPhone. I haven't had the opportunity to test an Android yet but within our company, iOS is the most important. Some of snippets of code I have tried are listed below. I've also tried 480px and device-width (which I believe I can't access because the iframe is a different domain). Unfortunately, modifying the iframe page and settings are not an option. Also, Javascript cannot be used as a solution for other reasons. Within HTML of web app site: <meta name="viewport" content="width=320px, initial-scale=1.0, user-scalable=no" /> Within CSS of web app site: @viewport { width: 320px; } The above CSS does not seem to render even when not used in device specific @media code.

  • jQuery load default content into div

    - by Ricki
    Hi, ive searched around but couldnt really find anything to help. I use this code as a main ajax call for all content on my site (All content loaded dynamically into a div using this script): jQuery(document).ready(function($) { function load(num) { $('#pageContent').html('<img src="imgs/ajax-loader.gif">') $('#pageContent').load(num +".html"); } $.history.init(function(url) { load(url == "" ? "1" : url); }); $('#bbon a').live('click', function(e) { var url = $(this).attr('href'); URLDecoder.decode(location,"UTF-8"); url = url.replace(/^.*#/, ''); $.history.load(url); return false; }); }); which works great. its fantastic. however, i am unable to get default content displayed in the <div> on page load.. so a visitor would have to select a menu item before any content shows. Any ideas on how i could do this? At the minute all i see is my loading animation.. I use jQuery with the History plugin.

  • Parse error after upgrading to PHP 5.3

    - by poer
    I have a php code that works well in PHP 5.2 but throwing "Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '}'" after upgrading to PHP 5.3. When I use echo/print or heredocs to print all the HTML part of the code, the error is gone. My question is, why this error occurred? Is this mean that in PHP 5.3 we are no longer allowed to put HTML code inside PHP code? This is my php code: function pk_stt2_admin_print_delete_form(){ global $wpdb; if ( isset($_POST['delete_terms']) && !empty($_POST['delete_terms']) ){ $msg = 'Search terms'; $success = pk_stt2_db_delete_searchterms( $_POST['delete_terms'] ); } elseif ( isset($_POST['delete_all']) ){ $msg = 'All search terms'; $success = pk_stt2_db_delete_searchterms( 'delete_all_terms' ); } else { ?> <div id="message" class="updated fade"> <p> Please enter the search terms to be deleted, separate them with a comma. </p> </div> <?php } if ( $success ){ ?> <div id="message" class="updated fade"> <p> <?php echo $msg; ?> have been deleted, <?php echo $success; ?> rows effected. </p> </div> <?php } else { ?> <div id="message" class="updated fade"> <p> Failed to delete search terms. </p> </div> <?php } } Thanks.

  • Adding a Click event to a submit button and then submitting the form

    - by Abs
    Hello all, I have a form with a submit button. I have attached a click event to that submit button using JQuery. Once I did this my form wasn't submitting, I thought this was because of the event I added- if I remove that click event it submits the form successfully. I have tried giving my form an id and calling the submit function but this was not successful either. What can I do? $('#submit_gen').click(function() { $('#genbtn').html('<img src="images/ajax-loader.gif" alt="loading" />'); $('#action_form').submit(); }); The HTML: <form id="action_form" action="generate.php" method="post" enctype="multipart/form-data"> <input id="file_upload" type="file" name="upload" onchange="file_select();"/> <input type="text" id="overlay_input"> <div id="genbtn" class="genbtn"> <input id="submit_gen" type="submit" value="Upload"> </div> </form> Thanks all

  • (JQuery) How to call a custom function before following link

    - by morpheous
    I want to achieve the following behavior in a page link. When the link is clicked, I want to: First, send (POST) some data back to the server Second, allow the browser to navigate to the url that the link was pointing to. I am relatively new to JQuery, and here is my first attempt below. I will be grateful to any jQuery gurus in here to fillin the blanks (and maybe point out how the snippet below may be improved). <html> <head>test page</head> <body> <div><a id="hotlink" href="http://www.example.com">Clik and see</a></div> </body> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function(){ $('hotlink').click(function(){ //AJAX Post data here ... //follow the link url (i.e. navigate/browse to the link) ... }); }); </script> </html>

  • Switching application-wide theme programmatically?

    - by Cheezmeister
    EDIT: Related question here: Multi theme support in android app I'm attempting to get a user-chosen theme and feel like I'm frustratingly close. Defining the theme in AndroidManifest.xml works as it should, but (as best I can tell) can't change based on app preferences: <application android:theme="@style/theme_sunshine" android:icon="@drawable/icon" android:label="@string/app_name"> Alternatively, setting it dynamically in each activity also works: someChosenTheme = PreferenceManager.getDefaultSharedPreferences(this).getString("themePreference", "theme_twilight"); setTheme(someOtherChosenTheme); But that seems messy, and I'd rather set the theme for the entire app in one place. My first thought was to grab the application context as soon as my main activity launches and do it there: getApplicationContext().setTheme(R.style.theme_dummy); As best I can tell[0], this ought to do the trick, but in fact it's not doing anything--the entire app has the default Android style. Is the above valid, and if so, might I be doing something else dumb? I'm working in API level 3 if that matters. Prods in the right direction greatly appreciated! • Having trouble using jQuery's .animate() to animate a div from left to right, right to left?

    - by Alex
    Hello, I seem to be having difficulties using jQuery .animate() to animate an absolutely positioned div from right to left on a button click, and left to right on another button click. I was wondering if you would be willing to help me understand what I'm doing wrong? Thanks. Below is my relevant CSS, HTML, and jQuery code. I can click the #moveLeft button and it wil indeed animate it to the left, but when I click the #moveRight button, nothing happens. Where am I going wrong? Thanks!! • How do I use jquery to both download & delete files dynamically from servlet

    - by Adam
    Is it possible to a jquery $.get() to call a servlet and use it to both download a file or update the page without reloading the page? (Or more basically, can I download a file without reloading the page?) For example, I am using a servlet that either returns a file to download of mimetype "application/octet-stream", or returns text to be update in the page of type "text/html". I can write a form with a submit, but then it reloads the page, so I've been trying to use $.get()... but the download doesn't work. <script type="text/javascript"> jQuery(document).ready(function(){ $("#handleFileOptions button").button(); }); function handleFilesSubmit(requestType) { $.get('FileServlet', {filename: $('#radioFileList input:radio:checked').button("widget").text(), requestType: requestType}, function(data){ ...?... }); } </script> In the html: <div id = "handleFiles"> <div id ="radioFileList"> <div id="radioFileList"> <input value="file0.txt" type="radio" id="fileitem0><label for="fileitem0">file0.txt</label> <input value="file1.txt" type="radio" id="fileitem1><label for="fileitem0">file1.txt</label> </div> </div> <div id="handleFileOptions"> <button id="handleFileOption0" onclick="handleFilesSubmit('Download')">Download</button> <button id="handleFileOption1" onclick="handleFilesSubmit('Delete')">Delete</button> </div> </div>

  • where is c function attribute set (how to unset) with gcc

    - by cvsdave
    I am working with code from the GNU core utils, and find that the void usage() function is apparently set with the attribute "noreturn". Well, I am modifying the function, and I wish it to return (I removed the call to exit()). The compiler still complains that a "noreturn" function returns, and when using the Eclipse CDT debugger, stepping thorugh the code is anomolous - I skip over lines of code. I do not see the function be set in the .c file, and there is no .h file for this .c file. The file is df.c. I have renamed the file df_call.c. How can the compiler be finding this attribute? How can I unset it? Thanks. ======= Thanks to all contributors for their help! The short answer is "the usage() function found in GNUutils 7.4 is prototyped in system.h as 'void usage (int status) ATTRIBUTE_NORETURN'. Changing to 'void usage (int status); /*ATTRIBUTE_NORETURN;*/' resolved the issue for me, but leaves the problem of a modified system.h. The long answer is: The GNU c compiler supports assigning attributes to functions (see http://gcc.gnu.org/onlinedocs/gcc/Function-Attributes.html) one of which is "noreturn". The syntax is "attribute ((noreturn))" (see http://gcc.gnu.org/onlinedocs/gcc/Attribute-Syntax.html#Attribute-Syntax) but is often macro'd to ATTRIBUTE_NORETURN. If the attribute is set, and in this case one tries to return from the function, the executable compiles with a complaint, but compiles and runs. It will, however, behave unexpectedly (skipping over src lines in my case, maybe due to the optimization). The debugger in Eclipse CDT actually jumps past lines of code, leading the developer to doubt his senses.

  • How can I save a file on an http server using just http requests and javascript?

    - by user170902
    hi all, I'm trying to understand some of the basics of web servers/html/javasacript etc. I'm not interested in any of the various frameworks like php/asp, i'm just trying to get a low level look at things (for now). At the moment I'm trying to understand how data can be sent to/saved on the backend, but i must admit that i'm getting a bit lost under the various specs/technical stuff on w3 at the moment! If I have some data, say xml, that I want to save on the backend how do I go about it? I assume that I would have to use something like an HTTP PUT or POST Request to an html doc that contains some javascript that in turn would process the data, e.g. save it somewhere. Now from googling around I can see that this doesn't seem to be the case, so my assumptions are completely wrong! So how is it done? Can it be done, or do I have to use something like php or asp? TIA. bg
