• UIScrollview doesnt resize in NavigationController when rotated

  Hey, I have been dealing with this issue for 2 days now, not able to find a solution. I have a navigationcontroller as a root view controller. This one pushes a UIViewcontroller which in turn has a UIScrollview I created with IB. Additionally there is the Navigation bar. My problem arises, when I rotate the IPhone to Landscape mode. In -(void) didRotateFromInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)fromInterfaceOrientation I want my scrollview to take up the full width (480 px) which it doesnt. I am able to set the frame of the navigation bar to full width perfectly fine, but not the scrollview. I have read that this might be because of the autoresizing masks set in the rooviewcontroller but I have tried out a couple of solutions - none worked for me. Any ideas on how to challenge the problem? Dont know where to start looking.

• Android Preferences: How to load the default values when the user hasn't used the preferences-screen

  I am using a PreferenceActivity to let the user set some values. I am feeding it the xml file with the defined preferences. I have set all the android:defaultValue="" for them. When I start my application, I need the preferences, or if they are not set yet manually, I want the default values: SharedPreferences prefs = PreferenceManager.getDefaultSharedPreferences(this); boolean value = prefs.getBoolean("key"), false); However, when android:defaultValue="true" I still get false. So, it looks like the defaultValues set in the XML are not used anywhere but when initializing the preferences-screen. I don't want to hardcode the default values in the getBoolean() method. So, is there a way get the default-values with only defining these in 1 place?

• Create Slideshow with Fade Transition and Navigation

  Hello! I am trying to create a slideshow like the one on this site: http://www.marthastewart.com/ However, I would like to use JavaScript and CSS instead of Flash. I would be super grateful for any suggestions on how to do this. I am currently using the InnerFade plugin, which works great for the slideshow part, but I can't figure out how to integrate the navigation; I'm not even sure where to start! :) I'm open to starting over from scratch and not using InnerFade. • Android: How to receive process signals in an activity to kill child process ?

  My application calls Runtime.exec() to launch an executable in a separate process at start up time. I would like this child process to get killed when the parent activity exits. Now I can use onDestroy() to handle regular cases, but not "Force quit", shutdowns from DDMS, or kill from the console since those don't run onDestroy(). The addShutdownHandler() does not seem to be invoked in these cases either. Is there any other hook or signal handler that informs my activity that it's about to get terminated ? As an alternative is there a way to have the system automatically kill the child process when the parent dies ?

• Android "Hello World" tutorial program. Error: [Parse Error] There is a problem parsing the package

  Today I decided to start developing for the Android OS. I went on their website, downloaded all the required software (Eclipse, The Android SDK, ADT Plugin for Eclipse etc.). I followed the "Hello World" tutorial supplied (link text). I have it using the Android SDK 2.1. The program worked almost flawlessly. It runs fine on the Android emulator, but doesn't install on any Android phones. I don't own an Android phone, so I had three of my friends try to install the program on theirs. The phones we used were: ROOTED G1 running 2.1 Droid running 2.1 Another Droid running 2.1 I emailed the .apk to myself in gmail, and accessed it via the Android emulator. It ran and installed the package just fine. However, when my friends tried to install it on their phones, they were all met with this error: "[Parse Error] There is a problem parsing the package" I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to what may be wrong. • portable emacs? (emacs server not working)

  I have seen a few suggestions on making emacs portable (on Windows). I have this in my site-start.el: (defvar program-dir (substring data-directory 0 -4)) (setq inhibit-startup-message t) (setenv "HOME" program-dir) I changed the HOME variable so that not only my .emacs init files (and other init files) are read, but everything generated by emacs will stay in the program directory, not needing me to specify the path for everything one by one. Well this works well but the emacs server is not working; I get error message "no connection could be made because target machine actively refused it." If I don't change my HOME var then emacs server works. Is there way to fix this?

  I am an experienced asp.net web forms developer using c# but i have never used asp.net MVC. As I am just starting out with mvc i would like to start with mvc 2. I am looking for a good intro/tutorial to help me understand the basics. I am aware of the Nerd Dinner but that is based around MVC 1. What would you guys recomend for me to get started. Should i work through the nerd dinner tutorial then once i have a good understanding of mvc then research the new features of mvc 2 or is there a similar getting started tutorial for mvc 2. Sugestions of good books to read are also welcome. In fact any advice on getting started on mvc 2 would be good.

  Hey, I googled this a little but couldn't find a good result. Right now I'm building a web site and I'm trying to make it as correct as possible from a design point of view from the beginning. The problem I'm now facing is that when deciding to start with logging I needed a project to place this code in. As I could not find a suitable place in my currect projects I thought: hey, why not a logging class library? Is there a general guideline on how many projects you should have? I know this would be a rather small project but it would be nice to entirely get it out of my way! Any hints are appreciated :)

Implementing this I do not see any way this is different from traditional long-polling. In both cases you have to send a request, and then the server send a response back. In the browser you interpret the response and then you start a new request. So why should I use comet if in both cases I need to open and close connections.

I've added some features to the application and in the process I had to add a new field to one of the database tables. • Injection of banners in my webbrowsers possible malware

  Recently I have started to suspect that I have some kind of virus on my computer. There are 3 symptoms: Banners are being displayed on pages that doesn't use commercials, for instance when viewing screen-shots on Steam. It is only displayed after the rest of the page has been loaded and seems to be injected into it. The whole page is replaced with a commercial with the option to skip the commercial. The page is replaced with a search window claiming that the page could not be found. I have tried to scan my computer with Antivir and Adaware but only found a couple of tracking cookies. I have run HijackThis but since this isn't really my area I haven't been able to discern what shouldn't be there except the line about zonealarm since I have uninstalled it. Is there anyone out there who is able to see if there is anything suspicious in the log-file at the end or has suggestions regarding programs that might be better to find the virus than Antivir and Adaware?   How to solve this problem (in WF4): I create a workflow in xaml and start several instances of it, I have a persistancestore and all workflows persist on a bookmark half way their workflow. Now I stop the application If I restart te application everything is resumed, en nicely completes. But what if I want to change the workflow definition after the running instances persist? the only way to load the running workflows (that I was able to find) is the following way: WorkflowApplication wfapp = new WorkflowApplication(new WorkflowDefinition()); wfapp.InstanceStore = new SqlWorkflowInstanceStore(connStr); wfapp.Load(wfGuid); So you need the workflow definition, if it has changed during the persistance, things go horribly wrong. What is the best way to solve this?

• Open flash chart not working

  I'm trying to implement Open Flash Chart in my website but it doesn't work. The chart just start loading for a second and the loader animation disappear and nothing happening (Only a black swf area). i've downloaded the latest version which is 2 and here is my folders scheme: // ROOT // ? • DB structure for Twitter home/Facebook wall?

  Basically a live feed of all your friends' recent posts. In a stupid sort of approach I think I'd start by building a query like: SELECT * FROM tblposts WHERE userid=friend_id_1OR userid=friend_id_2...... and so on Where friend_id_% is the userid of a friend from your friends list. But this must be a very inefficient way of doing it, right? Is there any faster way of doing this in MySQL? Maybe some clever DB schema? (I know FB uses Hadoob but I'm not experienced enough to go that far :( )

• memory not freed in matlab?

  I am running a script that animates a plot (simulation of a water flow). After a while, I kill the loop by doing ctrl-c. After doing this several times I get the error: ??? Error: Out of memory. And after I start receiving that error, every call to my script will generate it. Now, it happens before anything inside the function that I am calling is executed, i.e even if I add the line a=1 as the first line of the function I am calling, I still get the error and no printout, so the code inside the function doesn't even get executed. What could be causing this?

• Tomcat server (from XAMPP package) CANNOT BE started from Eclipse

  I am using Windows 7. I installed Eclipse and updated to include WPT. HTTP Server and Tomcat are installed with XAMPP Package. They run properly and they can be accessed via localhost. But I found that tomcat server CANNOT BE STARTED. • How to Animate a Gradient on a Path to visualize data flow in WPF/WCF app

  I have an interesting project where several "nodes" on a cnavas are connected via a Path similiar to a mindmap tree. The path is used to visualize the connection state between two nodes. Red means the nodes are disconnected, green means they're connected. The next step would be to illustrate data flow (from A to B or B to A) using that path and an animation. Basically I would want to start the animation with the data transfer and stop it when the transfer is complete. Does anyone know how this could be done in WPF?

• Powerpoint Add-In: Add a Button to PPT to SyntaxHighlight a Textbox

  Hi Guys, I am trying to write an Add-In to Powerpoint that does basically one thing: Give users a Button somewhere to click, once they click on it the currently selected TextField should get syntax highlighted. The Syntax highlighting part is easy, I'm just having a real hard time finding some good information on how to successfully interact with Powerpoint from code. There are some MSDN articles highlighting how to add controls on document start or AddSlide, but no good information on how to extend the UI. Has anyone had some experience in this field and could point me to some resource that may help? Also, I am running Powerpoint 2007 while my customer may end up running PPT2003. How is the backwards compatibility of the Add-ins? greetings Daniel

• What jquery code or plugin would I use to update the position of an element?

  I am using a jquery plugin from [ FilamentGroup ] called DateRangePicker. I have a simple form with two text inputs for the start and end date that I bind the DateRangePicker to using this $('input.tbDate').daterangepicker({ dateFormat: 'mm/dd/yy', earliestDate: new Date(minDate), latestDate: new Date(maxDate), datepickerOptions: { changeMonth: true, changeYear: true, minDate: new Date(minDate), maxDate: new Date(maxDate) } }); I have a collapsible table above this form that when shown, moves the form and the elements that the daterangepicker plugin is bound to, down lower on the page, but the daterangepicker appears to keep the position from when it was actually created. What code could I put in the daterangepicker's onShow Callback to update its position to be next to the element is was initially bound to? Or is there some specific jquery method or plugin that I could chain to the daterangepicker plugin so that it will update its position correctly. This would come in handy for some other plugins that I use that don't seem to keep their position relative to other elements correctly either.
