• How to access and work with XML from API in C#

  My goal is to pull XML data from the API and load it to a sql server database. The frist step I'm attempting here is to access the data and display it. Once I get this to work I'll loop through each row and insert the values into a sql server database. When I try to run the code below nothing happens and when I paste the url directly into the browser I get this error "2010-03-08 04:24:17 Wallet exhausted: retry after 2010-03-08 05:23:58. 2010-03-08 05:23:58" To me it seems that every iteration of the foreach loop makes a call to the site and I get blocked for an hour. Am I retrieving data from the API in an incorrect manner? Is there some way to load the data into memory or an array then loop through that? • Hibernate Lazy init exception in spring scheduled job

  I have a spring scheduled job (@Scheduled) that sends emails from my system according to a list of recipients in the DB. This method is annotated with the @Scheduled annotation and it invokes a method from another interface, the method in the interface is annotated with the @Transactional annotation. Now, when i invoke the scheduled method manually, it works perfectly. But when the method is invoked by spring scheduler i get the LazyInitFailed exception in the method implementing the said interface. • Django: How do I position a page when using Django templates

  I have a web page where the user enters some data and then clicks a submit button. I process the data and then use the same Django template to display the original data, the submit button, and the results. When I am using the Django template to display results, I would like the page to be automatically scrolled down to the part of the page where the results begin. This allows the user to scroll back up the page if she wants to change her original data and click submit again. Hopefully, there's some simple way of doing this that I can't see at the moment.

  I want to send an AJAX POST, but I want the url that the data is sent to, to be derived from the id of the element that was clicked. This is what I have so far: I have written a javascript function (get_my_url) that returns a url, depending on the element id that was passed to the function. • Compile time float packing/punning

  I'm writing C for the PIC32MX, compiled with Microchip's PIC32 C compiler (based on GCC 3.4). My problem is this: I have some reprogrammable numeric data that is stored either on EEPROM or in the program flash of the chip. This means that when I want to store a float, I have to do some type punning: typedef union { int intval; float floatval; } IntFloat; unsigned int float_as_int(float fval) { IntFloat intf; intf.floatval = fval; return intf.intval; } // Stores an int of data in whatever storage we're using void StoreInt(unsigned int data, unsigned int address); void StoreFPVal(float data, unsigned int address) { StoreInt(float_as_int(data), address); } I also include default values as an array of compile time constants. For (unsigned) integer values this is trivial, I just use the integer literal. For floats, though, I have to use this Python snippet to convert them to their word representation to include them in the array: import struct hex(struct.unpack("I", struct.pack("f", float_value))[0]) ...and so my array of defaults has these indecipherable values like: const unsigned int DEFAULTS[] = { 0x00000001, // Some default integer value, 1 0x3C83126F, // Some default float value, 0.005 } (These actually take the form of X macro constructs, but that doesn't make a difference here.) Commenting is nice, but is there a better way? It's be great to be able to do something like: const unsigned int DEFAULTS[] = { 0x00000001, // Some default integer value, 1 COMPILE_TIME_CONVERT(0.005), // Some default float value, 0.005 } ...but I'm completely at a loss, and I don't even know if such a thing is possible. Notes Obviously "no, it isn't possible" is an acceptable answer if true. I'm not overly concerned about portability, so implementation defined behaviour is fine, undefined behaviour is not (I have the IDB appendix sitting in front of me). As fas as I'm aware, this needs to be a compile time conversion, since DEFAULTS is in the global scope. Please correct me if I'm wrong about this.

  I want to verify that my understanding is correct. This kind of thing is tricky so I'm almost sure I am missing something. I have a program consisting of a real-time thread and a non-real-time thread. I want the non-RT thread to be able to swap a pointer to memory that is used by the RT thread. From the docs, my understanding is that this can be accomplished in g++ with: // global Data *rt_data; Data *swap_data(Data *new_data) { #ifdef __GNUC__ // Atomic pointer swap. Data *old_d = __sync_lock_test_and_set(&rt_data, new_data); #else // Non-atomic, cross your fingers. Data *old_d = rt_data; rt_data = new_data; #endif return old_d; } This is the only place in the program (other than initial setup) where rt_data is modified. When rt_data is used in the real-time context, it is copied to a local pointer. For old_d, later on when it is sure that the old memory is not used, it will be freed in the non-RT thread. Is this correct? Do I need volatile anywhere? Are there other synchronization primitives I should be calling? By the way I am doing this in C++, although I'm interested in whether the answer differs for C. Thanks ahead of time.

• HDFS some datanodes of cluster are suddenly disconnected while reducers are running

  I have 8 slave computers and 1 master computer for running Hadoop (ver 0.21) some datanodes of cluster are suddenly disconnected while I was running MapReduce code on 10GB data After all mappers finished and around 80% of reducers was processed, randomly one or more datanode disconned from network. and then the other datanodes start to disappear from network even if I killed the MapReduce job when I found some datanode was disconnected. • Using java.util.logging, is it possible to restart logs after a certain period of time?

  I have some java code that will be running as an importer for data for a much larger project. The initial logging code was done with the java.util.logging classes, so I'd like to keep it if possible, but it seems to be a little inadequate now given he amount of data passing through the importer. Often times in the system, the importer will get data that the main system doesn't have information for or doesn't match the system's data so it is ignored but a message is written to the log about what information was dropped and why it wasn't imported. The problem is that this tends to grow in size very quickly, so we'd like to be able to start a fresh log daily or weekly. Does anybody have an idea if this can be done in the logging classes or would I have to switch to log4j or custom? Thanks for any help!

• Python subprocess: 64 bit windows server PIPE doesn't exist :(

  I have a GUI that launches selected python scripts and runs it in cmd next to the gui window. I am able to get my launcher to work on my (windows xp 32 bit) laptop but when I upload it to the server(64bit windows iss7) I am running into some issues. The script runs, to my knowledge but spits back no information into the cmd window. My script is a bit of a Frankenstein that I have hacked and slashed together to get it to work I am fairly certain that this is a very bad example of the subprocess module. Just wondering if i could get a hand :).   If I do something like: result = Appointment.find( :all, :include => :staff ) logger.debug { result.inspect } then it only prints out the Appointment data, and not the associated staff data. If I do result[0].staff.inpsect then I get the staff data of course. The problem is I want to return this to AJAX as JSON, including the staff rows. How do I force it to include the staff rows, or do I have to loop through and create something manually?

• PHP edit unique row in table

  I currently have a PHP form that uses AJAX to connect to MySQL and display records matching a user's selection (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2593317/ajax-display-mysql-data-with-value-from-multiple-select-boxes) As well as displaying the data, I also place an 'Edit' button next to each result which displays a form where the data can be edited. My problem is editing unique records since currently I only use the selected values for 'name' and 'age' to find the record. If two (or more) records share the same name and age, I am only able to edit the first result.
