  • Tomcat 5.5 as service on Windows Server 2008 64bit

    Hi, Has anybody managed to get Tomcat to run as a service on Win2008 64bit? I need it for a 3rd party component that my site relies on. It works fine otherwise, but I just can't get it to run as a service. I've tried all the googling I can, and experimented with various 64bit tomcat.exe / tomcatw.exe without success. Upgrading to Tomcat 6 didn't help either. I'm running Java 1.5 64bit.

    I am trying to use a 32bit installation of eclipse on my 64bit windows machine. I have eclipse extracted to my C: Drive and Java installed in ProgramFiles(x86) When I go to start eclipse I get the error:Failed to load the JNI shared Library"C:Program Files(x86)\Java\jre6\bin\jvm.dll" I looked and the file is not there. I am setting something up wrong?Just did a fresh install of Java before trying to run eclipse.

    How to get the total amount of memory used by 32bit applications and 64bit applications from the command line in Windows. I tried using tasklist /FI "MODULES eq wow64.dll" /FO CSV and then parsing the output and summing. But tasklist just freezes with any command that has something to do with modules (tasklist /m and tasklist /fi "modules eq wow64.dll" freeze). Are there any alternatives? Or some idea why tasklist freezes.

  • Linux Mint 13 64bit Cinnamon and Oracle Virtualbox: 3d acceleration crash

    I've recently got an interest in Linux. After some research, it looks like Linux Mint 13 cinnamon is hot and I thought I'd try it out... I'm running Windows 7 64bit and have experience with Oracle Virtual Box. So I thought it would be a good idea to try out Linux Mint inside Virtual Box. I download Linux Mint 13 64bit Cinnamon and set it up in my VM player... Nothing special about my settings. Except Linux Mint 13 Cinnamon requires 3d acceleration, and when I enable that, it crashes whenever I open the Menu in the bottom left corner of the guest OS (and some other times too)... I've seen other mentions of this problem on the web, but no solutions. Is there a solution? If not, any suggestions short of installing the OS on a partition for trying out this OS (I'm not interested in the LIve mode either - I'd really like to get the full feel for it)?

    I have an Ubuntu 12.04 64bit server setup under Hyper-V. I have installed Pervasive 64bit SQL drivers so that a stock-updater script can run daily (Updates external MySQL database from another local server running Exchequer software / PSQL database).     Hello, Can anyone tell me what the compatibility of drivers on 64bit vista are like on the Dell Inspiron 1525. Mine is just a year old now and I want to upgrade to 64bit vista.   • Running hardware with only 32bit drivers in 64bit windows

    Recently we had to upgrade a system to handle added HD IP cameras. This upgrade involved an entirely new computer build with the exception of a rather pricey Geovision DVR (PCI/GV1480 series). Apparently while these cards do support Windows 7, they do not support Windows 7 x64. I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place here trying to figure out how we can remedy this, is there a virtualization solution that will allow devices with driver issues to passthru to the Guest OS? I was thinking XPMode may work for this solution however I am unsure if it runs 32bit or 64bit and if it'll allow driver-issue devices to pass to it.     I am attempting to add several locations on my disk to my "Favorites" in Windows Explorer. I have used this feature in the 64bit version of Windows 7 without a problem, but it does not seem to work in this install. Here is my methodology so far. 1.) Go to a location in Windows Explorer "C:\users\Benjamin" 2.) Right click on the "favorites" in the left hand folder navigation window and select "Add current location to Favorites" It does not fire an error, but the location does not appear under favorites. What might be happening here to prevent "favorites" from populating?

    My problem is that a vendor is providing me with a 64bit application (packed in a 64bit installer) but it goes and installs to the x86 (Program Files) Folder and he keeps telling me its OK but I want it to install in the Program Files directory; as the 32 bit version does that and scripts for the app are developed based on this assumption. IE is the max kernel allocation 2GB ram even if the total main memory 4GB? If you increase the total amount of memory to 64GB of ram by recompiling the kernel with the PAE option enabled, what is the maximum amount of ram you can dedicate for kernel usage? Is it still 2GB? Or can you increase it?

  • 3GB RAM Installed and Detected by BIOS, Windows Vista 32bit Only Sees 2GB

    I am attempting to install more RAM on a Windows Vista 32bit machine which is using a X6DAL-XG motherboard and the RAM amount reported in the BIOS is 3GB+, but Windows is only reporting 2GB installed. The motherboard has 6 RAM bays which I have populated with various combinations of 4 1GB sticks, and 2 512mb sticks, but no matter how I configure them Windows doesn't see more than 2GB. I realize of course 32-bit Windows has a 3gb cap on memory, but that doesn't explain why it will only report 2GB when there are in fact (currently) 5GB installed. I should think I would be able to see at least 3GB. According to the spec list for the motherboard the minimum RAM requirements are DDR333/266mhz installed in pairs. I have done this exactly, and the BIOS isn't reporting any problems at POST. RAM Configuration (according to CPU-Z): Slot #1: Kingston 128mx72D266C25 - 1024mb PC2100 (133mhz) Slot #2: Kingston KVR266X72RC25/1024 - 1024mb PC2100 (133mhz) Slot #3: PQI - 512mb PC2700 (166mhz) Slot #4: Kingston 128mx72D266C25 - 1024mb PC2100 (133mhz) Slot #5: Kingston KVR266X72RC25/1024 - 1024mb PC2100 (133mhz) Slot #6: PQI - 512mb PC2700 (166mhz) I'm not sure if memory specs above conflict with this statement in the motherboard manual or not: Memory Support The X6DAL-XG supports up to 12GB/24GB of registered ECC DDR333/266 (PC2700/PC2100) memory. The motherboard was designed to support 4GB (PC2100) modules in each slot, but only the 2GB modules have been tested. When using registered ECC DDR333 (PC2700) memory, installing four pieces of double-banked memory or six pieces of single-banked memory is supported. So, am I doing something wrong with the RAM I have now, or is there some sort of compatibility problem which I am missing? Thanks!

  • Anti Virus Service does not run - Windows XP SP3 32bit Home

    I have a somewhat strange problem here. I am trying to run Anti Virus Software on my Windows XP Home 32bit System. After a serious crash I had to fall back to an outdated copy of my initial installation and had Windows install 5 years of updates. So far so good. After Intalling a new Anti Virus Software (Bitdefender 2012) everything seemed to be fine, initial scanning went fine and configuration was working. But after restarting the System the Virus Scanner was unable to start up again. Even the Configuration console of the AV Software did not start. I tried scanning the System for malware, but nothing was found. Then I tried a different AV Software (MS Security Essentials), but in the end it did fail to start too. I have tried to start the Service manually, but I seem to be missing the privilege to do so. I am logged in as a Non-"Administrator" User with Admin privileges (Not much choices there on a XP Home System). I cannot switch to Administrator account outside the protected mode.   • Windows 7 32bit resolution is limited for HDTV monitor

    I have a small Magnavox HDTV that i am using to test a Frankenstein PC build. The goal is to eventually connect to my old rear projection HDTV which supports 1080i via component input. The goal is also not to buy anymore stuff, otherwise i will just buy a smartTV and be done. I have a ATI Radeon HD 3450 with component out adapter YPrPb. The monitor supports 1080p, but over analog component out, should only go upto 1080i. I have had this working with another setup. On this particular setup, i have Windows 7 32bit, with the latest 12.8 catalyst drivers installed. the windows splash screen starts in 480p, then switches to 480i when the login prompt is shown. When try to change the resolution, 720x480 is the maximum value of the slider. I have also tried the "list all modes" and that also maxes out at 720x480. There are two options for this monitor in the devices seciton, Generic PNP monitor, and Generic non-PNP monitor. Neither setting fixes this. Any ideas on how to get 1080i?
