  • How to change color AND width of non overlay scrollbars in Ubuntu 12.04

    I know many people have complained about the almost invisible and not usable scrollbars in recent versions of Ubuntu, even after removing or disabling the default overlay scrollbars. I wonder how can I easily change their color AND width. I have a 13.3 inches monitor with a 1600*900 resolution and I can barely see them, as you can see in these images: I already changed Firefox, LibreOffice and some other software's scrollbars using GNOME Color Chooser: By the way, I'm using Unity.   • How to create column width in CSS that expands with large images yet stays a default size for normal

    I am creating an HTML5 web page with a one column layout. Basically, it is a forum thread with individual posts. I have specified in my CSS file the column to be 600px wide and centered it in the window using margin: 0 auto;. However, some images that are in the individual posts are larger than 600px and spill out of the column. I'd like to widen an individual post to fit the larger images. However, I want all the other posts to still be 600px wide. Right now, I'm just using overflow:auto which will create a scroll bar, but this is less than ideal. Is this possible to have the an individual post width grow for larger content yet stay fixed for normal content? Is this possible using just pure CSS? Thanks in advance!

  • How can I determine img width/height of dynamically loaded images in IE?

    My markup is a simple div element with id 'load'. Using jQuery I then load a list of image elements into this div: $('#load').load('images.html', { }, function() { $(this).onImagesLoad({ selectorCallback: function() { ....do something.... } }); }); where images.html is a list like this: <img src='1.jpg' caption='img 1'> <img src='2.jpg' caption='img 2'> ... To ensure that all images are loaded completely, I use the onImagesLoad plugin. This, so far, works just fine on all browsers. However, on IE8 (and I assume other versions of IE also) when I then iterate over the img elements, I am unable to determine the width/height of the images loaded. The image.context.naturalWidth and naturalHeight attributes don't seem to work. How do I get a hold of the images' dimension? Thanks heaps :)

  • Where is the actual content in a TCP segment

    When I email something or download a program, or do anything else over a network, where in the segment is the actual content? If I am emailing a 20KB word document, and the maximum data field size in a segment is 1500 bytes, does that mean it takes about 14 segments to mail my document wherever it is going? I get, I think, the OSI model and I have a decent grasp of the IP protocol. I think I understand the concept of header wrapping of each successive layer in the protocol stack. What I can't get a definitive answer to is where does the actual content go in a TCP segment? Is that the datagram? Maybe the fact I am asking proves I have no clue... Many thanks.

  • Actual High Speed USB flash drive

    I'm looking to upgrade my EEE 1000H by possibly replacing the HDD with simple (internal) usb connected storage. The problem I'm having now is that I can't seem to find any actual high speed usb sticks. They all proclaim high speeds, but usually turn out to be ~30 mb/s - much lower than the 60 mb/s (480 mbit/s / 8 ) I understand USB 2.0 is at - no ? Can anyone enlighten me as to why no USB sticks seem to go past that low bar or alternatively point me in the direction of some actual high speed usb sticks ? Any help is greatly appreciated :) Cheers!

    NetBeans has a word wrap feature now - but if the font changes width when bold then it gets all jumpy and sometimes hard to work with. Edit: It turns out that even with Courier New that NetBeans word wrap still jumps up and down lines at a time at random. I guess that this question no longer cares for an answer. However,, it seems that there is no answer. (at least nobody has brought one up yet) I am currently using Comic Sans MS which gets wider when bold.

  • How to make Nautilus name column display at the width of the longest filename

    Prior to a recent glytch where I lost some of my custom settings, Nautilus would open directories and display the name-column wide enough to show the longest filename on display. It did it dynamically; If I renamed a file to a longer or shorter name, the column was automatically adjusted to the new width.. It's not doing that now, and I have no idea how to get this function back.. UPDATE I hadn't mentioned it, but I am talking about the List view... I have been fossicing around in the GConf Editpr and came across a setting for Compact View which does exactly what I am referring to... but it only effects the Compact View... that setting is: gconf-editor /apps/nautilus/compact_view/all_columns_have_same_width ...but I can't find the setting for List View... I know the capability exists, because I've been using it until only a few days ago, when my system got hung up...

  • Using AddEncoding x-gzip .gz without actual files

    With Apache (2.2 and later) how can I achieve the following. I want to transparently compress using GZip encoding (not plain Deflate) the output when a certain file is queried with its name plus the extension .gz, where the .gz version doesn't physically exist on disk. So let's say I have a file named /path/foo.bar and no file foo.bar.gz in the folder to which the URI /path maps, how can I get Apache to serve the contents of /path/foo.bar but with AddEncoding x-gzip ... applied to the (non-existing) file? The rewrite part appears to be easy, but the problem is how to apply the encoding to a non-existent item. The other way around also seems to be simple as long as the client supports the encoding. Is the only solution really a script that does this on the fly? I'm aware of mod_deflate and mod_gzip and it is not what I'm looking for - at least not alone. In particular I need an actual GZIP file and not just a deflated stream. Now I was thinking of using mod_ext_filter, but couldn't bridge the gap between rewriting the name of the (non-existent) file.gz to file on one side and the LocationMatch on the other. Here's what I have.     Hi all, Using ExtJs. I'm trying to design a main which is divided into three sub panels (a tree list, a grid and a panel). The way it works is that you have a tree list (west) with elements, you click on an element which populates the grid (center), then you click on an element in the grid and that generates the panel (west). My main panel containing the three other ones has been defined with a layout 'border'. Now the problem I face is that the center layout (the grid) has been defined in the code with a fixed width and the west panel as an auto width. But when the interface gets generated, the grid width is suddenly taking all the space in the interface instead of the west panel.     I'm working on creating an Excel file from a large set of data by using the Open XML SDK. I've finally managed to get a functional Columns node, which specifies all of the columns which will actually be used in the file. There is a "BestFit" property that can be set to true, but this apparently does not do anything. Is there a way to automatically set these columns to "best fit", so that when someone opens this file, they're already sized to the correct amount? Or am I forced to calculate how wide each column should be in advance, and set this in the code?

  • How to log the actual output in apache?

    I am doing LAMP development for a mobile platform. However, the client browser does not allow me to view the source code of visited pages. I consider the source code to be of huge importance for debugging, so I would like to configure my web server so every time a user makes a request, in addition to sending the client a response, that response (the actual contents of the returned page) is also stored in a file with a filename I can cross-relate with access_log (maybe ip-timestamp-filename? or maybe a unique ID in an additional column in access_log?). I've searched quite a bit, but haven't even gotten close to finding what I'm looking for. Has anybody been able to do this?
