• Force a browser to load the 'https' edition of a website, not the 'http'?

  This is similar to this previous question, but I believe it's a bit different*. Sites like GMail support a preference that pushes all traffic through the SSL edition of the site rather than the plain-text protocol. For sites that don't offer such preferences (or ones that may, but I have been unable to find, like facebook), is there a way using only the browser (perhaps with a plugin or addon) to always try SSL first, and fall-back to plain-text iff SSL fails? Is that solution available on Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux? Just one? * The previous question was looking for external applications that would accomplish this goal.

• alternatives to roboform

  Yes, I know there is already a few similar questions. Is there an alternative to RoboForm (which for some reason makes my FF very slow, because of some other extensions) which has the same way of working. What I mean, you click on ... and it opens a new tab with the page in question, and logs on to it (so no databases, and such ...). One other advantage would be if it kept passwords locally. Basically, I'm looking for RoboForm other than RoboForm. Anyone knows of any ?

• Firefox keyboard shortcuts to menu items / add-on functions

  At the moment I'm using context menus a lot to access commands in Firefox, but I would like to replace this repetitive clicking and searching with keyboard shortcuts for the common tasks that I perform. How to assign keys to add-on functionality? E.g. I use Close Other Tabs from Tab Mix Plus a lot - but I could not find any add-on that allows me to create a key combination for it e.g. Ctrl Alt Shift F4? My search did yield Key config, but this extension does not allow mapping to add-on functions I thought Menu Editor might be relevant, as you can change menus with it, and re-arrange even add-on items A rather demanding solution here, which seems to require re-compiling some jar files Customizing menu shortcuts in Firefox

• Can't remove Internet Explorer Add-On

  I'm using IE8 on Windows 7. I'm trying to delete an add-on from my "Manage Add-ons" panel. But when I double click the add-on I'd like to delete, the "Remove" button is grayed out. Only the disable option is available. I've gone to the path it points to and deleted that folder. I've also searched the registry to delete keys and went to Control Panel to uninstall the related installation package. Any ideas?

• How do I install Flash for just one browser on Mac?

  How can I install Flash for just Firefox and not Safari? I would like to have Flash not load at all, so the Click to Flash extension is not good enough. I've looked at the Safari plist and don't see any way to disable it. Alternatively, updating the Flash plugin that is built into Chrome would solve this. I used to use Chrome for my flash only browsing, but Google is not updating the embedded flash player. I found the way to force Chrome to ignore it's built in plugin in this Adobe KB article, but then Chrome just uses the plugin installed for the system.

• Help, I need to debug my BrowserHelperObject (BHO) (in C++) after a internet explorer 8 crash in Rel

  Hi, here is the situation, i'm developping a Browser Helper Object (BHO) in C++ with Visual Studio 2008, and i learned that the memory wasn't managed the same way in Debug mode than in Release mode. So when i run my BHO in debug mode, internet explorer 8 works just fine and i got no erros at all, the browser stays alive forever, but as soon as i compile it in release mode, i got no errors, no message, nothing, but after 5 minutes i can see through the task manager that internet explorer instances are just eating memory and then the browser just stop responding every time. Please, I really need some hint on how to get a feedback on what could be the error. I heard that, often it was happening because of memory mismanagement. I need a software that just grab a memory dump or something when iexplorer crashes to help me find the problem. Any help is appreciated, I'll be looking for responses every single days, thank you.

Right now, the only thing in my way is the fact that the tab bar can't be moved like the navigation bar or the bookmarks toolbar.   I've been using the Firefox Shareaholic browser add-on to post links quickly to my twitter account, and am very happy with it. Recently, however, my company has tasked me with updating our corporate twitter account too. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to offer the ability to register multiple twitter accounts and let you select one when you tweet the current page. I'm looking for suggestions on a browser add-on for Firefox to do just this. Just to be clear, I'm not looking to be able to post a single link to multiple twitter accounts at one time. I just want a one click "twitter this" that lets me pick which account to post it to. Bonus: If you know a workaround to do this in Shareaholic, that would be even better.

• Google Chrome: How do I get my status bar back?

  This silly design of the status bar popping up and disappearing is really bothering me. I used to have a few good extensions on my status bar in Firefox (Pagerank, AdBlock, etc) and now they all have to be placed in strange locations on the toolbars near the top without easily displaying any relevant information.   I have a specific website I often use (specifically, http://www.pygame.org/), which has an awful color scheme. I would like to change the color scheme of the site, but I haven't been able to find a good tool for the job. Some basic requirements: It should not be universal to all websites, or affect other websites. I want this to be semi-automatic. I don't want to have to re-define the theme for each page of the site. I want to continue to access the site online (I don't want a local copy of the entire site) Not OS-specific (browser-specific is okay) I am currently using Firefox, but I am also happy with Chrome. There may be some limitations on what is able to be done automatically, as the CSS seems to be embedded in the HTML (and some also in the HTML tags). I would like to remove as much of the green as possible. Is there an existing extension/add-on that does this?

  I use a Firefox extension called NextPlease which allows me to use the keyboard to go to the next or previous page on web pages which have Previous/Next paging links. Like the Google search results. I downloaded a version from http://cisengineer.com/firefox/ for my Windows XP. On a Windows 7 FF 3.6 machine, Firefox can't import the extension because it's not compatible with FF 3.6 even though it worked in FF 3.6 in Windows XP. Is there an update to this extension or is there a similar extension? I downgraded to FF 3.5.7 to have the extension working.

• How can I move windows in Windows with keyboard?

  I recently started using Linux and was floored by the ease with which windows can be moved and resized with simple keyboard combinations using Compiz. If I want to move a terminal to top-right of the screen a simple CTRL+ALT+Numpad9 does the trick for me, and it resizes the window at the same time. I'm sure you guys know what I'm talking about. I would like to know if there is a way to do this in windows. Thanks.
