• Why does terminal auto complete sometimes not suggest anything?

  Sometimes, when I type a command on the terminal, the terminal's autocomplete does not work, even if my command is not wrong. For example, take look to this: sudo service vsftpd status sudo and service do not have any problem. I mean, when you type sud +tab terminal suggest you sudo or I type servi + tab terminal complete that to service. But for vsftpd I do not get any suggestion. Is there a way to say, "terminal, please tell me any suggestion!!?".

  Obviously users like to see text properly pluralized, and pluralization schemes vary in the various written languages one may encounter. When internationalizing an app, what pattern(s) are useful for handling messages with possible pluralization? What about messages with multiple possible pluralization? For example: "N review(s):" One pattern would be reviews.title.singular="{0} review:" reviews.title.singular="{0} reviews:" And this may not support all languages. Or a more complicated case: "Found M question(s) with N comment(s)." This would be difficult to support in English?

• The Properties dialog box not working for any Start Menu Program Lubuntu 14.04

  When Lubuntu 14.04 first came out, the Properties dialog was present for all Start Menu Programs but did not work when right-clicked on as nothing happened and no other box popped up the the Start Menu Program information, such as the executable info, etc. Then the issue was fixed. Now the issue has returned when I upgraded to Lubuntu 14.04.1. Is there any way to retrieve the Properties info pop-up box via a configuration file? Does the issue have to do with a faulty LXShortcut? I noticed when I uninstalled the LXShortcut the Properties tab disappeared. When I re-installed the Properties tab returned however once again when you right-click on the Properties tab nothing happens. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

• mySQL auto increment problem: Duplicate entry '4294967295' for key 1

  I have a table of emails. The last record in there for an auto increment id is 3780, which is a legit record. Any new record I now insert is being inserted right there. However, in my logs I have the occasional: Query FAIL: INSERT INTO mail.messages (timestamp_queue) VALUES (:time); Array ( [0] => 23000 [1] => 1062 [2] => Duplicate entry '4294967295' for key 1 ) Somehow, the autoincrement jumped up to the INT max of 4294967295 Why on god's green earth would this get jumped up so high? I have no inserts with an id field. The show status for that table, Auto_increment table now reads: 4294967296 How could something like this occur? I realize the id field should perhaps be a big int, but the worry I have is that somehow this thing jumps back up. Josh

• Sql Server CE - Temporary disable auto increment on a specific collum

  Hi guys. I have this little question, thats been on my head for while now. Here it goes: Is it possible to temporary disable the Auto_Increment on the collum ID. So that i can add a new row to the table and being able specify the ID value when inserting the row. And then in the end enable the Auto_Increment again, and let do its work as usual? And if its possible how can i do it. The Table structure is very simple Collum Name (atributes) ID (Primary Key, Auto Increment, int, not null) Name (nvarchar(100), not null) Notice: The table name is: People. Lets also consider that the table already has data and cannot be changed. The database server is SQL Server CE. The SQL commands will be executed in a C# program, if its of any help. I really hope its possible, it would come very handy. Thanks

• MySQL, C++: Retrieving auto-increment ID

  I have a table with an auto-incrementing ID. After inserting a new row, I would like to retrieve the new ID. I found an article that used the MySQL function LAST_INSERT_ID(). The article says to create a new query and submit it. I'm using MySQL Connector C++, Windows XP and Vista, and Visual Studio 9. Here are my questions: Is there an API, for the connector, that will fetch the ID out of the record? Does the result set, after an insert/append, contain the new ID? The LAST_INSERT_ID is MySQL specific. Is there an SQL standard method for obtaining the new ID?

• Auto-generate WebControls

  I want to generate .net code from a template so that it more rapid, so lazy developers (and I mean that in the nicest possible way!) don't have to write them in the IDE, compile them, etc... I know I can roll my own tool which generates the code using reflection (by reading in some text file, etc), but I just wondered if there was an easier than starting from scratch since this is what ASP.NET basically does already; so is there anyway to leverage this? E.g. to quote Peter A. Bromberg: Even an ASPX page with no code on it gets turned into an instance of the System.Web.UI.Page class. The page is parsed by the ASP.NET engine when it is first requested, and then its JIT compiled version is cached in the Temporary ASP.NET Files folder as long as the application is running and the .aspx page hasn't been changed. Ideally I want to auto-generate WebControls, but examples of anything closely related will do. C# Examples preferred also, but anything considered :)

  Hey all I am trying to alter a table with adding a new column setting it as auto increment and with a key. The table already has one key and this one will be an addition. The error I get is the following. error : Multiple primary key defined My code is: alter table user add column id int (11) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT PRIMARY KEY FIRST; I have also tries wrapping the key name ie alter table user add column id int (11) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT PRIMARY (id) KEY FIRST; But still no luck. How can it be done ?

• Spring: PropertyPlaceHolderConfigurer to set values for non-string/integer properties

  Hi, All the examples I have seen where the PropertyPlaceHolderConfigurer is used seem to be setting simple values like Strings and ints. How do you use the PPC to set the values of classes. E.g. If i had a class signature Source(String name, DistributionSample batch, DistributionSample delay) How would I go about setting the batch and delay properties. There is also a small catch. DistributionSample is an abstract class. On the bright side, The class that is using the propertyPlaceHolder knows the beanName of the "Solid" class that needs to be instantiated. Any help would be much appreciated.

  Ok, I know that property overloading is not supported in C# - most of the references explain it by citing the single-method-different-returntype problem. However, what about setters? I'd like to directly assign a value as either a string or object, but only return as a string. Like this: public string FieldIdList { get { return fieldIdList.ToString(); } set { fieldIdList = new FieldIdList(value); } } public FieldIdList FieldIdList { set { fieldIdList = value; } } private FieldIdList fieldIdList; Why wouldn't this be allowed? I've also seen that "properties" simply create getter/setter functions on compile. Would it be possible to create my own? Something like: public void set_FieldIdList(FieldIdList value) { fieldIdList = value; } That would do the same thing. Thoughts?

• Visual studio does not gray out properties with a ReadOnlyAttribute(true)

  I know it's stupid but visual studio (2010) doesn't gray out my properties tagged with ReadOnlyAttribute, I can't edit their values (if I try to do it, simply return to the previous value), but they aren't grayed out, I think it's really boring this when using the editor Is there an option or an attribute that I'm forgetting?   Hi all, Here is my question, I have a solution with 4 projects in it for a WCF Service : DLL Library : Service Interface. DLL Library : Service Code. Form Application : Service hosting application. Form Application : Service client application. I'd like to have certain properties of the service accessible for the hosting application but not for the client one. If I declare a property in the client interface they will both have access to it. In fact, my service manage user identity login and keep a list of all user currently logged in. I'd like to be able to show this list in the Hosting application, like a debugging tool. But I don't want the service client to be able to access to this list. How can I do ? Thank in advance.

• Overriding properties of child view controller vs setting them via parent view controller

  If you want to modify the default behaviour of a View Controller by changing the value of one of its properties, is it considered better form to instantiate the class and set its property directly, or subclass it and override the property? With the former it would become the parent View Controller's responsibility to configure its children, whereas with the latter the children would effectively configure themselves. EDIT: Some more information: The class I am referring to is FetchedTableViewController, a subclass of UITableViewController that I made to display the results of a Core Data fetch operation. There are two places I want to display the results of a fetch, and they each have different fetch requests. I'm trying to decide whether it's better to create a subclass for each one, and override the fetchRequest property, or make it the responsibility of the parent controller to set the fetchRequest property for its children.

• Flagging complex properties as Browsable in the compact framework

  I'm working on a compact framework project and whilst most of the properties are fairly straight forward (I.e. mark them as browsable in the xmta file), I'm struggling to get this to work for more complex types - on the full framework, I'd just implement a custom TypeConverter and go from there, but it seems the CF TypeConverter doesn't have any of the type converting methods to override, which has left me a little stuck? It probably should be blindingly obvious but how would I go about supporting design time property support for more complex types (for the sake of argument, assume I can already convert to and from a string, but I'd prefer to keep this strongly typed, rather than just pretend it was a string and parse it both ways. Where should I be looking to achieve this?

• Managing the localization of Java properties files

  I have a Web application written in Java that is targeting several countries, all of which speak different languages (and more often than not, several languages -- that's Europe for you). We have a bunch of .properties files that hold the localized strings, and our current procedure is to e-mail the language-specific files to our partners for updating before doing major updates. However, this process is rather error-prone, as sometimes people forget to translate new strings and sometimes new strings don't get added to every language file, thus small mistakes get through very easily. Does anyone know of any existing software that could help us clear this mess? At a bare minimum, I'm thinking of something that would allow you to load a master file (for example, in English), a localized file and then would highlight the keys that were added to or removed from the master file.

Handles radioButton.Click { ... } Now, When I build this is .NET 3.5 in release mode, and see the generated code in reflector tool, the code is something like, Private Overridable Property radioButton As RadioButton . . . <AccessedThroughProperty("radioButton")> _ Private _radioButton As RadioButton Can someone tell me what is going on here?   I've seen in WPF where you can bind control values to properties of other controls. How is that binding accomplished in C++? For example, if I have a class called Car and a guage control called RPM, how do I tie the value of RPM to the member variable Car.RPM, so that when Car.RPM changes, it is automatically (as in without a specific update call coded by me) reflected by the RPM control? General answers or directions to pertinent resources would be fine also, as I'm just beginning to dabble in C++ and haven't had much Google luck with this particular question.

  In C#, you can use properties to make a data field publicly accessible (allowing the user to directly access it), and yet retain the ability to perform data validation on those directly-accessed fields. Doese Java have something similar? For Instance, suppose there exists a C# class with the following implementation(see below): public class newInt{ public newInt(){...} public int x{ get{ return this.x } set{ this.x = isValid(value) } } } private static int isValid(int value){...} This definition in the class allows the user to "naturally" use the data field 'x' when retrieving values from it and assigning values to it. Below is how it would be used in main. public class Test{ public static void main(String[] args){ newInt a = new newInt(); a.x = 50; int b = a.x; } } The question is... can java do this as well? if so, what is it called?

  Have you noticed that the Properties Command has been removed from the Context Menu in Firefox 3.6? If you have been missing it here is how to get it back. Before With the newest version of Firefox you may have noticed a very useful command missing from the “Context Menu”. Here you can see that when we right clicked on the article link we were unable to “access” the properties for it… Same article and the same problem when trying to “access” the properties for one of the images. After Once you have installed the extension you can once again “access” the properties for those links… And those images… Looking very good… Conclusion If you have been frustrated with the removal of the “Properties Command” from the “Context Menu” in Firefox 3.6, you can now add it back in just a few moments. • Fancybox Auto Close, but remain user control

I did follow JFK's solution which works just right: 'onComplete': function() { $("#fancybox-wrap, #fancybox-overlay").delay(3000).fadeOut(); } if you don't want the user to close the box, then add modal=true The scenario is I would like the user to have the option to close the modal when they click on the [close] button or click anywhere on the overlay. I'm using the latest version of FB and jQuery on Rails. Here's my script: <script type="text/javascript"> jQuery(document).ready(function() { jQuery("#link_post").fancybox({ 'autoDimensions':false, 'width':380, 'height':50, 'title':'This message box will automatically close in 10 seconds.', 'titlePosition':'outside', 'onComplete': function() { jQuery("#fancybox-wrap, #fancybox- overlay").delay(10000).fadeOut(); } }); }); </script> However, when i clicked on the close button, the title and close button will fade away, but the FB's content and overlay are still there! it will only fade away after 10 seconds. So, my question is how to overwrite the 'onComplete' function if user clicks on the close button before it automatically closes?
