• Searchlogic cannot sort search result

  Imagine a code: search = Project.search( :title_or_description_or_child_name_or_child_age_or_inspiration_or_decorating_style_or_favorite_item_or_others_like_any => keys, :galleries_id_like_any => @g, :styles_id_like_any => @st, :tags_like_any => @t ) search.all returns the rows correctly. But search.descend_by_views returns nil. Is this gem buggy? What else should I use then?

The aim is to code online, browser based. I've tried http://phpanywhere.net/ that can make this possible, but it is buggy and moreover it requires an external (ftp) access to your server that is quite different (and less secure) that working directly on the server.   Use case: I've just entered insert mode, and typed some text. Now I want to make it uppercase. It can be done via gUmotion. However, I can't find the motion over the text entered in the recent input session. It's somewhat strange and the concept of such motion is buggy (where to move if you've deleted text, for example?), but it may solve my problem. Or, are there other ways of making uppercase the text you've recently inputted?

  I have a bunch of int key fields in my index and trying to do a simple range search like this: `gender:1 AND height:[120 TO 180]` This should give me male in the height range 120 to 180. But for some reason i get this exception: `At least one range query boundary term must be non-empty term` How would i debug this? Is it just Zend_Search_Lucene being buggy?

• Any universal notification service like Adobe Wave

  Any ideas for an universal notification service like Adobe Wave? I need to send status updates (more specifically, things like document change notifications and the like). I could stick to RSS but then I will need either long URLs or HTTP authentications on feeds which not all the clients like. Adobe Wave looked promising but they are only desktop, in BETA, without active development, and seem a bit buggy sometimes. Any other ideas?

  Our buildserver compiles and runs testsuites for many different c++ programs. From time to time the programs are buggy, and can crash. When they crash, Windows7 will always throw this modal dialog: Which has to be clicked away by a human being, causing the buildserver to sit idle. Is there a way to at a system level prevent this from happening? I know I can do it from within the process itself, but I'd love to be able to do it across the entire system.

  I expect any good program should do all their reads and writes in a loop until all data written/read without relying that write will write everything (even with regular files). Am I right? Implemented simple FUSE filesystem which only allows reading and writing with small buffers, very often returning that it is written less bytes that in a buffer (using -o direct_io). Some programs work, some not. Are them buggy or programs should not expect truncated writes and reads from the regular files?
