• How to host multiple mail domains with courier?

  I had my server set up with generic aliases in /etc/courier/aliases/users, which worked fine. But today I wanted to host some new domains, where addresses overlap. What I need is that [email protected] goes to account "dv", but [email protected] goes to account "d2". So I set up a new file containing fully qualified addresses ([email protected]: dv) instead of the previous dave: dv. But somehow, courier-smtpd doesn't accept mail to these addresses anymore. makealiases -dump prints all the aliases the way they should be.. so i'm a bit stuck.

I've investigated that cygWin recognizes Documents and Settings dir as home directory Z:\app\cwRsync\bin>cygpath -H /cygdrive/c/Documents and Settings I've created .ssh directory in Documents and Settings/user/.ssh and moved known_hosts, id_rsa, id_rsa.pub there. Now, I'm trying to connect via ssh.exe to remote host Z:\app\cwRsync\bin>ssh -p 22 [email protected] Could not create directory '/home/user/.ssh'. • Excel annoyance: How to maintain formulas in a ledger?

  A common use of Excel is to create a spreadsheet which functions as a transaction ledger of some kind, where one or more fields in each row is calculated by adding a value or values from the current row to a value from the previous row. For example, if column C holds the value of a transaction and column D holds the balance, then the formula in row D3 might be =D2+C3. This formula would be repeated for every row in the ledger. A common annoyance when maintaining this type of spreadsheet is that if you insert a row into the middle of such a ledger, that row may be skipped when calculating the balance-- the formulas in the subsequent row have to be updated along with the formulas in the inserted row. Do you have any techniques for avoiding these problems?

• Transferring filesystem-structured music collection to ipod

  I have a rather large music collection organized like music/<artist>/<album>/<track>-<title>.<fmt>, mostly mp3. However, the tagging is rather inconsistent, as on the PC or with better old players (Cowon D2+) I don't care and use the filesystem view. However, in the iTunes this all gets messed up because it doesn't care about file locations and looks at tags. What's worse though, it consistently splits compilations into single-track artist-albums. So, is there a way to take the existing filesystem artist-album structure and bring it to the form compatible with iTunes/iPod? Again, I don't care about tags. Automated approach is most welcome, but at least please direct me to some document specifying all the little details about iTunes' metadata requirement for compilations.

However, I have the following two problems: If I try to implement a double click event for richTextBox1, I can detect when a word is clicked, however that word is highlighted (selected), which I'd like to avoid. I can deselect it programmatically by selecting the end of the text, but that causes a flicker, which I would like to avoid. What ways are there to do this? The GetCharIndexFromPosition method returns the index of the character that is closest to the cursor. This means that if the only thing my RichTextBox contains is a word starting with a # then the cursor will be a hand no matter where on the rich text control it is. How can I make it so that it is only a hand when it hovers over an actual word or character that is part of a word I'm interested in? The implemented URL detection also partially suffers from this problem. If I enable detection of URLs and only write www.test.com in the rich text editor, the cursor will be a hand as long as it is on or below the link. It will not be a hand if it's to the right of the link however. I'm fine even with this functionality if making the cursor a hand if and only if it's on the text proves to be too difficult. I'm guessing I'll have to resort to some sort of Windows API calls, but I don't really know where to start. I am using Visual Studio 2008 and I would like to implement this myself. Update: The flickering problem would be solved if I could make it so that no text is selectable through double clicking, only through dragging the mouse cursor. Is this easier to achieve? Because I don't really care if one can select text or not by double clicking in this case.

• Why is the this-pointer needed to access inherited attributes?

  Hi, assume the following class is given: class Base{ public: Base() {} Base( const Base& b) : base_attr(b.base_attr) {} void someBaseFunction() { .... } protected: SomeType base_attr; }; When I want a class to inherit from this one and include a new attribute for the derived class, I would write: class Derived: public Base { public: Derived() {} Derived( const Derived& d ) : derived_attr(d.derived_attr) { this->base_attr = d.base_attr; } void SomeDerivedFunction() { .... } private: SomeOtherType derived_attr; }; This works for me (let's ignore eventually missing semicolons or such please). However, when I remove the "this-" in the copy constructor of the derived class, the compiler complains that "'base_attr' was not declared in this scope". I thought that, when inheriting from a class, the protected attributes would then also be accessible directly. I did not know that the "this-" pointer was needed. I am now confused if it is actually correct what I am doing there, especially the copy-constructor of the Derived-class. Because each Derived object is supposed to have a base_attr and a derived_attr and they obviously need to be initialized/set correctly. And because Derived is inheriting from Base, I don't want to explicitly include an attribute named "base_attr" in the Derived-class. IMHO doing so would generally destroy the idea behind inheritance, as everything would have to be defined again. EDIT Thank you all for the quick answers. I completely forgot the fact that the classes actually are templates. • Using Comparable to compare objects and sorting them in a TreeMap

  II cannot understand how should the natural ordering of class be "consistent with equals" when implementing the Comparable interface. I deteted a flaw in my program and therefore I deteced that in the documentantion of the interface Comparable. My problem is that although two Objects are considered as distinct on the base of equals method, the TreeMap structure treats them as equal and consequently does not accept the second insert. • null pointer exception comparing two strings in java.

  I want my first-person camera to smoothly change its viewing direction from direction d1 to direction d2. The latter direction is indicated by a target position t2. So far I have implemented a rotation that works fine but the speed of the rotation slows down the closer the current direction gets to the desired one. This is what I want to avoid. • Is this a b43 driver problem?

  I have 13.04 on a Dell Inspiron 1564 with Broadcom 4312 WiFi card. The wl drivers cause kernel panic on linux-3.8 so I succesfully installed the b43 driver a couple of months ago. Now I have changed ISP and got a new router, and the connection drop when downloading software from internet to a 2008r2 using Remmina Client, and apt-get install on virtual machines in virtualbox. I have no idea why this suddenly became a problem.. My phone does not loose the connection, just Ubuntu. • Git - tidying up a repo

  Hi I have got my repo into a bit of a state and want to be able to work my way out of it The repo looks a bit like this (A1, B1, C1 etc are obviously commits) A1 ---- A2 ---- A3 ---- A4 ---- A5 ---- A6 ---- A7 ---- A8 / (from a remote repo) B1 ---- B2 --------------------------------- | \ \ C1 ---------------------------------C2 \ / D1 --- D2 --- D3 --- D4 --- D5 --- D6 Ideally I'd like to be able to remove all the revisions (with rebase?) on the B, C and D lines (I'm loathed to say branches simply because there are now no local branches on these lines except ref branches to the remote repo) and try to merge in the remote repo again, perhaps in a better way. I'd be grateful of any suggestions as to how to get rid of all these commits. Could I ask that any answers use revision SHA1s rather than branch names. I thought that somehow I'd be able to revert the merge into A7 but can't quite work out how to do it I hope that is sufficient information. Many thx Simon

There seem to be many advantages. trivially thread safe more secure more memory efficient in most use cases. cheap substrings (tokenizing and slicing) Not to mention most new languages have immutable strings, D2.0, Java, C#, Python, Ruby, etc. Would C++ benefit from immutable strings? Is it possible to implement an immutable string class in c++ (or c++0x) that would have all of these advantages?

I know that I have to iterate through the "Range("A2").select" section, e.g. "Range("A2").select" -- "Range("B2").select" .. But I don't know how to do this in VBA for Excel. • Finding the intersection of two vector equations.

  I've been trying to solve this and I found an equation that gives the possibility of zero division errors. Not the best thing: v1 = (a,b) v2 = (c,d) d1 = (e,f) d2 = (h,i) l1: v1 + ?d1 l2: v2 + µd2 Equation to find vector intersection of l1 and l2 programatically by re-arranging for lambda. (a,b) + ?(e,f) = (c,d) + µ(h,i) a + ?e = c + µh b +?f = d + µi µh = a + ?e - c µi = b +?f - d µ = (a + ?e - c)/h µ = (b +?f - d)/i (a + ?e - c)/h = (b +?f - d)/i a/h + ?e/h - c/h = b/i +?f/i - d/i ?e/h - ?f/i = (b/i - d/i) - (a/h - c/h) ?(e/h - f/i) = (b - d)/i - (a - c)/h ? = ((b - d)/i - (a - c)/h)/(e/h - f/i) Intersection vector = (a + ?e,b + ?f) Not sure if it would even work in some cases. I haven't tested it. I need to know how to do this for values as in that example a-i. Thank you.
