  • can this simple SQL query be optimized?

    Hi, I have the following query : SELECT COUNT(*) FROM Address adr INNER JOIN Auditable a on adr.UniqueId = a.UniqueId on a big DB (1.3M adresses, 4M+ auditables) both UniqueId columns are clustered primary keys the query is taking quite long to complete...I feel dumb, but is there any way to optimize it? I want to count all the address entries that have an underlying auditable... thanks!

  • Faster way to dump mysql

    This may be a dumb question, but I was just watching a screencast on MySQL replication, and I learned that a master database doesn't send SQL over to a slave for replication, it actually sends data over in binary, which makes importing extremely fast. I started wondering, "if a database can export and import binary, why do mysqldumps / imports take so long?" Is there a way to get mysql to dump a database in binary in a similar fashion to speed up that process as well?

  • iPhone OS 3.2 (iPad) Modal View question

    I am presenting a UIViewController as a modal viewcontroller with modalPresentationStyle = UIModalPresentationFormSheet. I have few UITextFields on its view. My issue is that when I try to dismiss the keyboard ([textfieldname resignFirstResponder]), it doesn't do anything. However when I change the modalPresentationStyle to UIModalPresentationPageSheet, it works. This seems to be a bug. Has any one faced similar problems and found a work around? Could I be doing anything dumb and silly?

    I feel dumb for having been a web programmer for so long and not knowing the answer to this question, I actually hope it's possible and I just didn't know about rather than what I think is the answer (which is that it's not possible). My question is whether it is possible to make a CSS class that "inherits" from another CSS class (or more than one). For example, say we had: .something { display:inline } .else { background:red } What I'd like to do is something like this: .composite { .something; .else } where the ".composite" class would both display inline and have a red background

  • Can't find this.Controls - what am I missing?

In other words, when I type "this." and visual studio populates a list of option, there is no "Controls" option.

  • Setting Up GLFW3 in Visual Studio

    I decided a couple of days ago that I was going to start trying to develop games in C++ with OpenGL, instead of C# Monogame like I have been doing for a while. I was looking around for libraries to use, to make OpenGL a little easier to use. I settled on GLEW and GLFW. GLEW was a super easy copy/paste, but GLFW3 was not. After looking around for a while and fighting with CMake, I got the GLFW2.lib file created, and I added the additional include directories, library directories, and linked my program to the glfw3.lib file I just created. The problem is, I get these linker errors when I try to run or build my program: Error 1 error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol _glfwInit referenced in function _main C:\Codex Interactive\Projects\OGLTest\OGLTest\test.obj OGLTest Error 2 error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol _glfwTerminate referenced in function _main C:\Codex Interactive\Projects\OGLTest\OGLTest\test.obj OGLTest Error 3 error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol _glfwSetErrorCallback referenced in function _main C:\Codex Interactive\Projects\OGLTest\OGLTest\test.obj OGLTest and 10 other LNK2019 errors, all talking about some glfw method, as well as: Error 14 error LNK1120: 13 unresolved externals C:\Codex Interactive\Projects\OGLTest\Debug\OGLTest.exe 1 1 OGLTest at the very bottom of the error list. I've looked up most of these errors on their own, and the solutions that I find either do nothing to solve the problem, or are people commenting on how dumb people are for not being about to solve this linker problem. Any assistance to solve these errors would be greatly appreciated. Info: I built GLFW3 on Cmake for Visual Studio 11, 32 bit and 64 bit, and both threw the same errors. The only extra libraries I linked were opengl32.lib, glu32.lib, and glfw3.lib Here is the test code (from GLFW3's latest tutorial): Code

  • IIS7 Network Bios command limit and disabling file change notifications.

    Having experienced IIS for many years I've hit this error various times in the past, and understand it, the gist being IIS is attempting to setup so many file change notifications over a UNC share that it is hitting a specified limit of active commands. However, whilst I understand this is a registry change on the endpoints, in our internal network we're starting to hit this when running certain domains that have large content (and the content is then stored out of source control and instead on a dumb network store). Given this is a testing environment and rather than changing registry settings (which may not even work for client (dev) machines that run Vista IIS), I'd like to stop IIS setting up all these file change notifications. Is this possible to do on a per site basis? additionally the configuration can't be in the web.config, if this means having to disable FCN's for the entire IIS server this would be preferred.
