  • OTRS upgrade 3.0 to 3.1 fails

    - by Valentin0S
Today I've started upgrading OTRS from version 2.3 to 2.4 , 2.4 to 3.0 and 3.0 to 3.1. Everything went smoothly except the upgrade from 3.0 to 3.1 OTRS provides a few perl scripts which make the upgrade easier. I've used these scripts for each upgrade step. The upgrade from 3.0 to 3.1 fails at the following after using the upgrade script. scripts/DBUpdate-to-3.1.pl The error is : root@tickets:/opt/otrs# su - otrs $ scripts/DBUpdate-to-3.1.pl Migration started... The next most recent .trn file is the UK_20100374090001.trn which is the file that was applied during the restore. Why is there an older trn file seemingly on it's own? How can I fix this problem? It'll be a real pain to restart the entire logshipping process. x_x

  • RRAS NAT not working on a certain computer

    - by legenden
This is driving me crazy. I have a virtualized W2K8 server running RRAS. Every other computer or server on the network can access the internet through the NAT except one. On one server, it just won't work. I can ping the ip address of the NAT gateway just fine, and everything else works. (SMB, etc) DNS, which is hosted by the same server, also works just fine. I have even reinstalled the OS on the problem server and it still doesn't work. Recap of the steps I tried: There are 3 network cards in the server, I tried every one and different switch ports. Not a hardware problem. Reinstalled W2K8 R2 on server with the problem, didn't help. Tried the IP of the internet gateway directly - this did work (!). But I need NAT to work. All firewalls are disabled. Removed computer from domain, deleted computer membership in Active Directory Users and Computers and added it back. Disabled all other network adapters and set a static ip and specified the gateway ip manually. When I tracert a public IP, the first hop (or any other hop) comes up as: C:\>tracert www.google.com Tracing route to www.l.google.com [209.85.225.106] over a maximum of 30 hops: 1 * * * Request timed out. 2 * * * Request timed out. From a different computer, on which NAT works, the first hop comes up as: tracert www.google.com Tracing route to www.l.google.com [209.85.225.105] over a maximum of 30 hops: 1 <1 ms * <1 ms xxxx [10.5.1.1] This is the most bizarre problem I ever came across, and I realize that it's a long shot asking it here given all the details, but I'm pulling my hair out. Maybe someone has an idea...

  • Very slow write performance on Debian 6.0 (AMD64) with DMCRYPT/LVM/RAID1

    - by jdelic
I'm seeing very strange performance characteristics on one of my servers. This server is running a simple two-disk software-RAID1 setup with LVM spanning /dev/md0. One of the logical volumes /dev/vg0/secure is encrypted using dmcrypt with LUKS and mounted with the sync and noatimes flag. Writing to that volume is incredibly slow at 1.8 MB/s and the CPU usage stays near 0%. There are 8 crpyto/1-8 processes running (it's a Intel Quadcore CPU). I hope that someone on serverfault has seen this before :-(. uname -a 2.6.32-5-xen-amd64 #1 SMP Tue Mar 8 00:01:30 UTC 2011 x86_64 GNU/Linux Interestingly, when I read from the device I get good performance numbers: reading without encryption: $ dd if=/dev/vg0/secure of=/dev/null bs=64k count=100000 100000+0 records in 100000+0 records out 6553600000 bytes (6.6 GB) copied, 68.8951 s, 95.1 MB/s reading with encryption: $ dd if=/dev/mapper/secure of=/dev/null bs=64k count=100000 100000+0 records in 100000+0 records out 6553600000 bytes (6.6 GB) copied, 69.7116 s, 94.0 MB/s However, when I try to write to the device: $ dd if=/dev/zero of=./test bs=64k 8809+0 records in 8809+0 records out 577306624 bytes (577 MB) copied, 321.861 s, 1.8 MB/s Also, when I read I see CPU usage, when I write, the CPU stays at almost 0% usage. • Continuous outbound connection from QNAP NAS

    - by user192702
    I notice on my firewall that my QNAP NAS is continuously sending UDP sessions out to the Internet. Every second I have 5 - 7 connections out to addresses like the following: 2013-11-10 23:17:54 Deny 192.168.60.5 93.215.212.162 6881/udp 6881 6881 2013-11-10 23:18:05 Deny 192.168.60.5 87.76.0.83 29872/udp 6881 29872 2013-11-10 23:18:05 Deny 192.168.60.5 5.164.188.224 6881/udp 6881 6881 2013-11-10 23:18:05 Deny 192.168.60.5 80.61.45.206 6881/udp 6881 6881 2013-11-10 23:18:34 Deny 192.168.60.5 37.117.204.129 6881/udp 6881 6881 2013-11-10 23:18:34 Deny 192.168.60.5 71.67.101.30 51413/udp 6881 51413 2013-11-10 23:18:34 Deny 192.168.60.5 89.28.92.191 8621/udp 6881 8621 2013-11-10 23:18:34 Deny 192.168.60.5 94.244.157.85 28221/udp 6881 28221 2013-11-10 23:18:34 Deny 192.168.60.5 213.241.61.240 9089/udp 6881 9089 2013-11-10 23:18:45 Deny 192.168.60.5 88.163.28.100 52721/udp 6881 52721 2013-11-10 23:18:45 Deny 192.168.60.5 37.55.190.20 10027/udp 6881 10027 2013-11-10 23:18:45 Deny 192.168.60.5 62.72.188.146 14306/udp 6881 14306 2013-11-10 23:19:14 Deny 192.168.60.5 85.53.244.205 51413/udp 6881 51413 2013-11-10 23:19:14 Deny 192.168.60.5 67.163.18.215 52130/udp 6881 52130 2013-11-10 23:19:14 Deny 192.168.60.5 86.172.105.140 9089/udp 6881 9089 2013-11-10 23:19:14 Deny 192.168.60.5 99.28.56.121 52383/udp 6881 52383 2013-11-10 23:19:14 Deny 192.168.60.5 109.60.184.249 46217/udp 6881 46217 2013-11-10 23:19:25 Deny 192.168.60.5 121.107.144.174 21135/udp 6881 21135 2013-11-10 23:19:25 Deny 192.168.60.5 84.39.116.180 48446/udp 6881 48446 2013-11-10 23:19:25 Deny 192.168.60.5 183.238.254.62 openvpn/udp 6881 1194 ......... • Private IP getting routed over Internet

    - by WernerCD
We are setting up an internal program, on an internal server that uses the private 172.30.x.x subnet... when we ping the address 172.30.138.2, it routes across the internet: C:\>tracert 172.30.138.2 Tracing route to 172.30.138.2 over a maximum of 30 hops 1 6 ms 1 ms 1 ms xxxx.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.org [192.168.28.1] 2 * * * Request timed out. 3 12 ms 13 ms 9 ms xxxxxxxxxxx.xxxxxx.xx.xxx.xxxxxxx.net [68.85.xx.xx] 4 15 ms 11 ms 55 ms te-7-3-ar01.salisbury.md.bad.comcast.net [68.87.xx.xx] 5 13 ms 14 ms 18 ms xe-11-0-3-0-ar04.capitolhghts.md.bad.comcast.net [68.85.xx.xx] 6 19 ms 18 ms 14 ms te-1-0-0-4-cr01.denver.co.ibone.comcast.net [68.86.xx.xx] 7 28 ms 30 ms 30 ms pos-4-12-0-0-cr01.atlanta.ga.ibone.comcast.net [68.86.xx.xx] 8 30 ms 43 ms 30 ms 68.86.xx.xx 9 30 ms 29 ms 31 ms 172.30.138.2 Trace complete. This has a number of us confused. If we had a VPN setup, it wouldn't show up as being routed across the internet. If it hit an internet server, Private IP's (such as 192.168) shouldn't get routed. What would let a private IP address get routed across servers? would the fact that it's all comcast mean that they have their routers setup wrong?

  • Trouble with backslash characters and rsyslog writing to postgres

    - by Flimzy
I have rsyslog 4.6.4 configured to write mail logs to a PostgreSQL database. It all works fine, until the log message contains a backslash, as in this example: Jun 12 11:37:46 dc5 postfix/smtp[26475]: Vk0nYDKdH3sI: to=<[email protected], relay=----.---[---.---.---.---]:25, delay=1.5, delays=0.77/0.07/0.3/0.35, dsn=4.3.0, status=deferred (host ----.---[199.85.216.241] said: 451 4.3.0 Error writing to file d:\pmta\spool\B\00000414, status = ERROR_DISK_FULL in "DATA" (in reply to end of DATA command)) The above is the log entry, as written to /var/log/mail.log. It is correct. The trouble is that the backslash characters in the file name are interpreted as escapes when sent to the following SQL recipe: $template dcdb, "SELECT rsyslog_insert(('%timereported:::date-rfc3339%'::TIMESTAMPTZ)::TIMESTAMP,'%msg:::escape-cc%'::TEXT,'%syslogtag%'::VARCHAR)",STDSQL :syslogtag, startswith, "postfix" :ompgsql:/var/run/postgresql,dc,root,;dcdb As a result, the rsyslog_insert() stored procedure gets the following value for as msg: Vk0nYDKdH3sI: to=<[email protected], relay=----.---[---.---.---.---]:25, delay=1.5, delays=0.77/0.07/0.3/0.35, dsn=4.3.0, status=deferred (host ----.---[199.85.216.241] said: 451 4.3.0 Error writing to file d:pmtaspoolB The \p, \s, \B and \0 in the file name are interpreted by PostgreSQL as literal p, s, and B followed by a NULL character, thus early-terminating the string. This behavior can be easiily confirmed with: dc=# SELECT 'd:\pmta\spool\B\00000414'; ?column? -------------- d:pmtaspoolB (1 row) dc=# Is there a way to correct this problem? Is there a way I'm not finding in the rsyslog docs to turn \ into \\?

  • Resolving loss of internet bandwidth in home network

    - by Caspar
Recently, I've decided to connect my laptop at home to my modem/router through Ethernet cables built into my apartment. As these built-in Ethernet cables are usable via plugs built into the walls (called powerline adapters), I use some additional cabling (STP CAT6 cables) from my laptop/router to the plugs. In addition, I don't know any technical details about these built-in cables (as they're not visible), only the maximal bandwidth (1 GBit = Cat6?) that they're supporting. The built-in cables are Cat. 5e Ethernet cables. The problem is now that when I set up the connection, I cannot use the full bandwidth that my internet connection is actually offering (100 Mbit/s), only about 85 Mbit/s between 85 - 88 Mbit/s, despite the fact that all cables involved should support the maximal bandwidth. I know from other tests with one of the Ethernet cables in use that I can use almost 99 Mbit/s when I connect my laptop directly to the router/modem using only this one cable. In addition, it is very unlikely that the length of the resulting cable connection from my laptop to my router involving the built-in cables exceeds 100 m. So, what possible reasons for this loss of bandwidth exist? And how I can fix this issue? I hope this might help resolve the issue: The built-in cables appear to be Cat. 5e Ethernet cables. So, is there any problem when I connect Cat6 Ethernet cables directly to Cat5e Ethernet cables via the plugs?

We are trying to troubleshoot a scope overlap problem. We have multiple device types we wish to give all different ranges of a 16 bit subnet. IE. X device we wish to give 192.168.2.1-192.168.2.254/16, Y devices we wish to give 192.168.3.1-192.168.3.254/16. We are trying to accomplish this by creating different scopes and using the 60 class identifier. The problem is DHCP won't allow us to give these scopes with 16 bit masks because of the potential overlap. We aren't overlapping the address pool so why does DHCP care and can we work around this? If this isn't possible, how can i assign specific ranges by device type without creating multiple scopes? Any thoughts would be helpful. UPDATE: Entire Scope is 192.168.0.0/16 Gateway is 192.168.1.1/16 Device Hardware A - 192.168.20.1-192.168.20.254/16 Device Hardware B - 192.168.26.1-192.168.26.254/16 Device Hardware C - 192.168.85.1-192.168.85.254/16 We tried to setup multiple scopes for each device type (A,B,C) but couldn't specify a 16 bit mask as Scope A could technically overlap Scope B even thought our start and end addresses don't. I hope this makes more sense. Thanks for your thoughts.

  • Softfail / Failure Notice on SMTP

    - by pascal1954
Hey, i'm searching for an answer for about 24 hours now and I still can't find any really useful help... The problem appears as the following: I'm running a debian server with Plesk 9.5.3 and qmail. Since a few weeks I'm not able to send mails to some particular servers (like web.de, aol.com). Hence I get failure notices like "Sorry, I wasn't able to establish an SMTP connection." But when I try to send mails to gmail.com - it works! Gmail only reports a softfail in the mail header like so: Received: from h1600XXX.?none? (DOMAIN2.TLD [XX.XXX.XX.XX]) Received-SPF: softfail (google.com: best guess record for domain of transitioning [email protected] does not designate 85.XXX.XX.XX as permitted sender) client-ip=85.XXX.XX.XX This sounds like a dns problem for me, but I can't get an answer for that... What makes me wondering is: h1600XXX is correct, but it should look like h1600XXX.stratoserver.net, not ?none? DOMAIN2.TLD (first line) is different from DOMAIN1 (second line). Both are hosted on this machine, but is this correct? DOMAIN1 is the one I send this mail from. Hopefully someone could help me! If you need more specific information, let me know. Thanks in advance!!! Best regards

  • c++ optimize array of ints

    - by a432511
I have a 2D lookup table of int16_t. int16_t my_array[37][73] = {{**DATA HERE**}} I have a mixture of values that range from just above the range of int8_t to just below the range of int8_t and some of the values repeat themselves. I am trying to reduce the size of this lookup table. What I have done so far is split each int16_t value into two int8_t values to visualize the wasted bytes. int8_t part_1 = original_value >> 4; int8_t part_2 = original_value & 0x0000FFFF; // If the upper 4 bits of the original_value were empty if(part_1 == 0) wasted_bytes_count++; I can easily remove the zero value int8_t that are wasting a byte of space and I can also remove the duplicate values, but my question is how do I do remove those values while retaining the ability to lookup based on the two indices? I contemplated translating this into a 1D array and adding a number following each duplicated value that would represent the number of duplicates that were removed, but I am struggling with how I would then identify what is a lookup value and what is a duplicate count. Also, it is further complicated by stripping out the zero int8_t values that were wasted bytes. EDIT: This array is stored in ROM already. RAM is even more limited than ROM so it is already stored in ROM. EDIT: I am going to post a bounty for this question as soon as I can. I need a complete answer of how to store the information AND retrieve it. It does not need to be a 2D array as long as I can get the same values. EDIT: Adding the actual array below: {150,145,140,135,130,125,120,115,110,105,100,95,90,85,80,75,70,65,60,55,50,45,40,35,30,25,20,15,10,5,0,-4,-9,-14,-19,-24,-29,-34,-39,-44,-49,-54,-59,-64,-69,-74,-79,-84,-89,-94,-99,104,109,114,119,124,129,134,139,144,149,154,159,164,169,174,179,175,170,165,160,155,150}, • What is the fastest cyclic synchronization in Java (ExecutorService vs. CyclicBarrier vs. X)?

    - by Alex Dunlop
Which Java synchronization construct is likely to provide the best performance for a concurrent, iterative processing scenario with a fixed number of threads like the one outlined below? After experimenting on my own for a while (using ExecutorService and CyclicBarrier) and being somewhat surprised by the results, I would be grateful for some expert advice and maybe some new ideas. Existing questions here do not seem to focus primarily on performance, hence this new one. Thanks in advance! The core of the app is a simple iterative data processing algorithm, parallelized to the spread the computational load across 8 cores on a Mac Pro, running OS X 10.6 and Java 1.6.0_07. The data to be processed is split into 8 blocks and each block is fed to a Runnable to be executed by one of a fixed number of threads. Parallelizing the algorithm was fairly straightforward, and it functionally works as desired, but its performance is not yet what I think it could be. The app seems to spend a lot of time in system calls synchronizing, so after some profiling I wonder whether I selected the most appropriate synchronization mechanism(s). A key requirement of the algorithm is that it needs to proceed in stages, so the threads need to sync up at the end of each stage. The main thread prepares the work (very low overhead), passes it to the threads, lets them work on it, then proceeds when all threads are done, rearranges the work (again very low overhead) and repeats the cycle. The machine is dedicated to this task, Garbage Collection is minimized by using per-thread pools of pre-allocated items, and the number of threads can be fixed (no incoming requests or the like, just one thread per CPU core). V1 - ExecutorService My first implementation used an ExecutorService with 8 worker threads. The program creates 8 tasks holding the work and then lets them work on it, roughly like this: // create one thread per CPU executorService = Executors.newFixedThreadPool( 8 ); ... // now process data in cycles while( ...) { // package data into 8 work items ... // create one Callable task per work item ... // submit the Callables to the worker threads executorService.invokeAll( taskList ); } This works well functionally (it does what it should), and for very large work items indeed all 8 CPUs become highly loaded, as much as the processing algorithm would be expected to allow (some work items will finish faster than others, then idle). However, as the work items become smaller (and this is not really under the program's control), the user CPU load shrinks dramatically: blocksize | system | user | cycles/sec 256k 1.8% 85% 1.30 64k 2.5% 77% 5.6 16k 4% 64% 22.5 4096 8% 56% 86 1024 13% 38% 227 256 17% 19% 420 64 19% 17% 948 16 19% 13% 1626 Legend: - block size = size of the work item (= computational steps) - system = system load, as shown in OS X Activity Monitor (red bar) - user = user load, as shown in OS X Activity Monitor (green bar) - cycles/sec = iterations through the main while loop, more is better The primary area of concern here is the high percentage of time spent in the system, which appears to be driven by thread synchronization calls. As expected, for smaller work items, ExecutorService.invokeAll() will require relatively more effort to sync up the threads versus the amount of work being performed in each thread. But since ExecutorService is more generic than it would need to be for this use case (it can queue tasks for threads if there are more tasks than cores), I though maybe there would be a leaner synchronization construct. V2 - CyclicBarrier The next implementation used a CyclicBarrier to sync up the threads before receiving work and after completing it, roughly as follows: main() { // create the barrier barrier = new CyclicBarrier( 8 + 1 ); // create Runable for thread, tell it about the barrier Runnable task = new WorkerThreadRunnable( barrier ); // start the threads for( int i = 0; i < 8; i++ ) { // create one thread per core new Thread( task ).start(); } while( ... ) { // tell threads about the work ... // N threads + this will call await(), then system proceeds barrier.await(); // ... now worker threads work on the work... // wait for worker threads to finish barrier.await(); } } class WorkerThreadRunnable implements Runnable { CyclicBarrier barrier; WorkerThreadRunnable( CyclicBarrier barrier ) { this.barrier = barrier; } public void run() { while( true ) { // wait for work barrier.await(); // do the work ... // wait for everyone else to finish barrier.await(); } } } Again, this works well functionally (it does what it should), and for very large work items indeed all 8 CPUs become highly loaded, as before. However, as the work items become smaller, the load still shrinks dramatically: blocksize | system | user | cycles/sec 256k 1.9% 85% 1.30 64k 2.7% 78% 6.1 16k 5.5% 52% 25 4096 9% 29% 64 1024 11% 15% 117 256 12% 8% 169 64 12% 6.5% 285 16 12% 6% 377 For large work items, synchronization is negligible and the performance is identical to V1. But unexpectedly, the results of the (highly specialized) CyclicBarrier seem MUCH WORSE than those for the (generic) ExecutorService: throughput (cycles/sec) is only about 1/4th of V1. A preliminary conclusion would be that even though this seems to be the advertised ideal use case for CyclicBarrier, it performs much worse than the generic ExecutorService. V3 - Wait/Notify + CyclicBarrier It seemed worth a try to replace the first cyclic barrier await() with a simple wait/notify mechanism: main() { // create the barrier // create Runable for thread, tell it about the barrier // start the threads while( ... ) { // tell threads about the work // for each: workerThreadRunnable.setWorkItem( ... ); // ... now worker threads work on the work... // wait for worker threads to finish barrier.await(); } } class WorkerThreadRunnable implements Runnable { CyclicBarrier barrier; @NotNull volatile private Callable<Integer> workItem; WorkerThreadRunnable( CyclicBarrier barrier ) { this.barrier = barrier; this.workItem = NO_WORK; } final protected void setWorkItem( @NotNull final Callable<Integer> callable ) { synchronized( this ) { workItem = callable; notify(); } } public void run() { while( true ) { // wait for work while( true ) { synchronized( this ) { if( workItem != NO_WORK ) break; try { wait(); } catch( InterruptedException e ) { e.printStackTrace(); } } } // do the work ... // wait for everyone else to finish barrier.await(); } } } Again, this works well functionally (it does what it should). blocksize | system | user | cycles/sec 256k 1.9% 85% 1.30 64k 2.4% 80% 6.3 16k 4.6% 60% 30.1 4096 8.6% 41% 98.5 1024 12% 23% 202 256 14% 11.6% 299 64 14% 10.0% 518 16 14.8% 8.7% 679 The throughput for small work items is still much worse than that of the ExecutorService, but about 2x that of the CyclicBarrier. Eliminating one CyclicBarrier eliminates half of the gap. V4 - Busy wait instead of wait/notify Since this app is the primary one running on the system and the cores idle anyway if they're not busy with a work item, why not try a busy wait for work items in each thread, even if that spins the CPU needlessly. The worker thread code changes as follows: class WorkerThreadRunnable implements Runnable { // as before final protected void setWorkItem( @NotNull final Callable<Integer> callable ) { workItem = callable; } public void run() { while( true ) { // busy-wait for work while( true ) { if( workItem != NO_WORK ) break; } // do the work ... // wait for everyone else to finish barrier.await(); } } } Also works well functionally (it does what it should). blocksize | system | user | cycles/sec 256k 1.9% 85% 1.30 64k 2.2% 81% 6.3 16k 4.2% 62% 33 4096 7.5% 40% 107 1024 10.4% 23% 210 256 12.0% 12.0% 310 64 11.9% 10.2% 550 16 12.2% 8.6% 741 For small work items, this increases throughput by a further 10% over the CyclicBarrier + wait/notify variant, which is not insignificant. But it is still much lower-throughput than V1 with the ExecutorService. V5 - ? So what is the best synchronization mechanism for such a (presumably not uncommon) problem? I am weary of writing my own sync mechanism to completely replace ExecutorService (assuming that it is too generic and there has to be something that can still be taken out to make it more efficient). It is not my area of expertise and I'm concerned that I'd spend a lot of time debugging it (since I'm not even sure my wait/notify and busy wait variants are correct) for uncertain gain. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

  • Can't connect to STunnel when it's running as a service

    - by John Francis
I've got STunnel configured to proxy non SSL POP3 requests to GMail on port 111. This is working fine when STunnel is running as a desktop app, but when I run the STunnel service, I can't connect to port 111 on the machine (using Outlook Express for example). The Stunnel log file shows the port binding is succeeding, but it never sees a connection. There's something preventing the connection to that port when STunnel is running as a service? Here's stunnel.conf cert = stunnel.pem ; Some performance tunings socket = l:TCP_NODELAY=1 socket = r:TCP_NODELAY=1 ; Some debugging stuff useful for troubleshooting debug = 7 output = stunnel.log ; • Can't connect to STunnel when it's running as a service

Here's stunnel.conf cert = stunnel.pem ; Some performance tunings socket = l:TCP_NODELAY=1 socket = r:TCP_NODELAY=1 ; Some debugging stuff useful for troubleshooting debug = 7 output = stunnel.log ; Use it for client mode client = yes ; Service-level configuration [gmail] accept = 127.0.0.1:111 connect = pop.gmail.com:995 stunnel.log from service 2010.10.07 12:14:22 LOG5[80444:72984]: Reading • Sporadic unspecific kernel panic

    - by koma
    I'm experiencing seldom (so far about once a month) hard crashes on our ubuntu server 10.04 LTS box. The box itself is quite old (Dell PowerEdge 750 from 2004, Pentium4 2.8 GHz). I set up netconsole after it crashed twice last thursday and was able to extract the following output: [ 9354.062473] invalid opcode: 0000 [#1] SMP [ 9354.062516] last sysfs file: /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1d.0/usb2/2-2/2-2:1.0/uevent [ 9354.062555] Modules linked in: ppdev adm1026 hwmon_vid i2c_i801 bridge stp dcdbas psmouse serio_raw netconsole configfs shpchp lp parport usbhid hid e1000 [ 9354.062685] [ 9354.062704] Pid: 3988, comm: rsync Not tainted 2.6.38-12-generic-pae #51~lucid1-Ubuntu Dell Computer Corporation PowerEdge 750 /0R1479 [ 9354.062773] EIP: 0060:[<c104fef1>] EFLAGS: 00010046 CPU: 1 [ 9354.062802] EIP is at check_preempt_wakeup+0x181/0x250 [ 9354.062826] EAX: 00000002 EBX: f2a10ccc ECX: 00000000 EDX: 00000002 [ 9354.062850] ESI: f1db71cc EDI: f1db71a0 EBP: f1dbdea8 ESP: f1dbde8c [ 9354.062875] DS: 007b ES: 007b FS: 00d8 GS: 00e0 SS: 0068 [ 9354.062900] Process rsync (pid: 3988, ti=f1dbc000 task=f1db71a0 task.ti=f1dbc000) [ 9354.062933] Stack: [ 9354.062951] 0053ea60 f7907680 f28da840 f2a10ca0 c153ea60 f7907680 c153ea60 f1dbdebc [ 9354.063019] c103f98a f2a10ca0 f7907680 00000001 f1dbdef8 c104f97f 00000000 f2f0bacc [ 9354.063088] f7904338 00000001 00000003 00000000 f2f0bacc 00000001 00000001 00000086 [ 9354.063157] Call Trace: [ 9354.063183] [<c103f98a>] check_preempt_curr+0x6a/0x80 [ 9354.063210] [<c104f97f>] try_to_wake_up+0x5f/0x3f0 [ 9354.063236] [<c1077a00>] ? hrtimer_wakeup+0x0/0x30 [ 9354.063261] [<c104fd64>] wake_up_process+0x14/0x20 [ 9354.063286] [<c1077a1d>] hrtimer_wakeup+0x1d/0x30 [ 9354.063310] [<c1077f4a>] __run_hrtimer+0x7a/0x1c0 [ 9354.063336] [<c107dbad>] ? ktime_get+0x6d/0x110 [ 9354.063360] [<c1078310>] hrtimer_interrupt+0x120/0x2b0 [ 9354.063390] [<c1535c36>] smp_apic_timer_interrupt+0x56/0x8a [ 9354.063418] [<c152f459>] apic_timer_interrupt+0x31/0x38 [ 9354.063446] [<c1520000>] ? mca_attach_bus+0x5/0xc0 [ 9354.063469] Code: 8b 9b 20 01 00 00 8b 86 24 01 00 00 3b 83 24 01 00 00 75 e6 85 db 0f 84 a3 00 00 00 89 da 89 f0 e8 75 f6 fe ff 83 f8 01 0f 85 00 <fe> ff ff 89 f8 e8 95 f9 fe ff 8b 5e 1c 85 db 0f 84 e4 fe ff ff [ 9354.063804] EIP: [<c104fef1>] check_preempt_wakeup+0x181/0x250 SS:ESP 0068:f1dbde8c [ 9354.064231] ---[ end trace 290689cea65aea7f ]--- [ 9354.064290] Kernel panic - not syncing: Fatal exception in interrupt [ 9354.064352] Pid: 3988, comm: rsync Tainted: G D 2.6.38-12-generic-pae #51~lucid1-Ubuntu [ 9354.064424] Call Trace: [ 9354.064481] [<c152c057>] ? panic+0x5c/0x15b [ 9354.064539] [<c15302bd>] ? oops_end+0xcd/0xd0 [ 9354.064539] [<c100d9e4>] ? die+0x54/0x80 [ 9354.064539] [<c152f926>] ? do_trap+0x96/0xc0 [ 9354.064539] [<c100ba00>] ? do_invalid_op+0x0/0xa0 [ 9354.064539] [<c100ba8b>] ? do_invalid_op+0x8b/0xa0 [ 9354.064539] [<c104fef1>] ? check_preempt_wakeup+0x181/0x250 [ 9354.064539] [<c144884d>] ? __kfree_skb+0x3d/0x90 [ 9354.064539] [<c1042ae7>] ? update_curr+0x247/0x2a0 [ 9354.064539] [<c10447bb>] ? update_cfs_load+0x11b/0x2d0 [ 9354.064539] [<c1042a25>] ? update_curr+0x185/0x2a0 [ 9354.064539] [<c152f6bf>] ? error_code+0x67/0x6c [ 9354.064539] [<c104fef1>] ? check_preempt_wakeup+0x181/0x250 [ 9354.064539] [<c103f98a>] ? check_preempt_curr+0x6a/0x80 [ 9354.064539] [<c104f97f>] ? try_to_wake_up+0x5f/0x3f0 [ 9354.064539] [<c1077a00>] ? hrtimer_wakeup+0x0/0x30 [ 9354.064539] [<c104fd64>] ? wake_up_process+0x14/0x20 [ 9354.064539] [<c1077a1d>] ? hrtimer_wakeup+0x1d/0x30 [ 9354.064539] [<c1077f4a>] ? __run_hrtimer+0x7a/0x1c0 [ 9354.064539] [<c107dbad>] ? ktime_get+0x6d/0x110 [ 9354.064539] [<c1078310>] ? hrtimer_interrupt+0x120/0x2b0 [ 9354.064539] [<c1535c36>] ? smp_apic_timer_interrupt+0x56/0x8a [ 9354.064539] [<c152f459>] ? apic_timer_interrupt+0x31/0x38 [ 9354.064539] [<c1520000>] ? mca_attach_bus+0x5/0xc0 Googling for this issue didn't really turn up anything useful (most stuff I found was related to btrfs, but I don't use that, although the module exists and is sometimes loaded). From experience it might have to do with relatively heavy I/O, as two of the panics happened during a backup procedure. Kernel is 2.6.38-12-generic-pae, but I'm pretty sure I also saw panics on 2.6.32. I meanwhile upgraded to 3.0.0-17-generic-pae and am waiting for the next crash ;-) I'm at a loss here, so any pointers where to look for the cause or what it could be would be great :-) Thanks !

  • Calling Grep inside Java gives incorrect results when calling grep in shell gives correct results.

I've got a problem where calling grep from inside java gives incorrect results, as compared to the results from calling grep on the same file in the shell. • Calling Grep inside Java gives incorrect results while calling grep in shell gives correct results.

I've got a problem where calling grep from inside java gives incorrect results, as compared to the results from calling grep on the same file in the shell. My grep command (called both in Java and in bash. I escaped the slash in Java accordingly): /bin/grep -vP --regexp='^[0-9]+\t.*' /usr/local/apache-tomcat-6.0.18/work/Catalina/localhost/saccitic/237482319867147879_1271411421 Java Code: String filepath = "/path/to/file"; String options = "P"; String grepparams = "^[0-9]+\\t.*"; String greppath = "/bin/"; String[] localeArray = new String[] { "LANG=", "LC_COLLATE=C", "LC_CTYPE=UTF-8", "LC_MESSAGES=C", "LC_MONETARY=C", "LC_NUMERIC=C", "LC_TIME=C", "LC_ALL=" }; options = "v"+options; //Assign optional params if (options.contains("P")) { grepparams = "\'"+grepparams+"\'"; //Quote the regex expression if -P flag is used } else { options = "E"+options; //equivalent to calling egrep } proc = sysRuntime.exec(greppath+"/grep -"+options+" --regexp="+grepparams+" "+filepath, localeArray); System.out.println(greppath+"/grep -"+options+" --regexp="+grepparams+" "+filepath); inStream = proc.getInputStream(); The command is supposed to match and discard strings like these: 85295371616 Hi Mr Lee, please be informed that...
