  • How to get the earliest checkout-able revision info from subversion?

    I want to check a svn url and to get the earliest revision, then checkout it, I don't want to use HEAD because I will compare the earliest revision to others. so I use "svn info" to get the "Last Changed Rev" for the url like this: D:\Project>svn info svn://.../branches/.../path Path: ... URL: svn://.../branches/.../path Repository Root: svn://yt-file-srv/ Repository UUID: 9ed5ffd7-7585-a14e-96b2-4aab7121bb21 Revision: 2400 Node Kind: directory Last Changed Author: xxx Last Changed Rev: 2396 Last Changed Date: 2010-03-12 09:31:52 +0800 but, I found the 2396 revision is not checkout-able, because this path is in a branch copied from trunk, and the 2396 is the revision modified in the trunk. so when I use svn checkout -r 2396, I will get a working copy for the path in the trunk, then I can not do checkin for the branch. D:\Project>svn checkout svn://.../branches/.../path -r 2396 workcopy ..... .....   • Subversion Question - How to skip a revision...

    So say I have the three latest revisions of an aspx file: 55,56, and 57. Revision 56 added a feature that I want to remove, but I also want to have the new features deployed in version 57. Is there any way I can merge version 55 with 57, leaving revision 56 out of the picture? If it matters, I'm using Tortoise SVN and Visual SVN, but I normally just use Tortoise. Thanks for any ideas.

    Hello everyone, I have been in the IT field only for two years. I have been dealing with servers, firewalls, routers, switches, backup servers, and desktop. For the desktop, i have been dealing with WDS (Window deployment services). Not a lot of hardware. My question is this, is it really important to have an AT cert under your belt. I dont see the point anymore. When a desktop goes down, what have been seeing, they just buy a new one. I mean I can rebuild systems they are fun, but I haven't in a while?

    I am going through some exam questions for the 70-536 exam and an actual question one developer posted on his blog has popped up in my exam questions. I cannot remember what his answer was .... but below is the question: You need to write a multicast delegate that accepts a DateTime argument and returns a bool value. Which code segment should you use? A: public delegate int PowerDeviceOn(bool, DateTime) B: public delegate bool PowerDeviceOn(Object, EventArgs) C: public delegate void PowerDeviceOn(DateTime) D: public delegate bool PowerDeviceOn(DateTime) The answer is A. Can someone please explain why? As I already did some research into this question a while ago and so I was sure that it was C, obviously now looking back at the question its clear that I did not read properly. As i was sure I had seen the same one before so I jumped to the most obvious one. A variation on this question: You need to write a multicast delegate that accepts a DateTime argument. Which code segment should you use? A: public delegate int PowerDeviceOn(bool, DateTime) B: public delegate bool PowerDeviceOn(Object, EventArgs) C: public delegate void PowerDeviceOn(DateTime) D: public delegate bool PowerDeviceOn(DateTime) Now this is another variation on this question, it still has the same bogus sample answers, as they still kind work in throwing the exam taker off. Notice how by simply keeping the sample answers the same and by removing a small portion of the question text, the answer is C and not A. The variation has no official answer as I just conjured it up using the exam question as a baseplate. The answer is definitely C. This time round its easy to see why C is correct but the very first question I have an inkling but as you know an inkling is not good enough in passing exams. Thanks For Reading.

  • Problem Rendering SIFR with revision 436 on IE6 and IE7

    Hi, I seem to have a problem with SIFR3. I'm using version 436 and from all my testing it appears to be a problem associated with IE6 and IE7 as I cannot replicate the issue in Firefox, Chrome, Safari for Windows, or even IE8. The problem is occurring on my company's website and can be seen here: http://www.wyldeia.co.uk/blog.php When you first go to the page in IE6 or IE7 it appears to render fine. However if you click away onto another page and then click the back button in the browser, all of the text is replaced by an error saying "Rendered with sIFR3 revision 436". If you refresh the page, then the problem goes away, that is until you browse away and come back again. I've tried this on two separate machines both running IE7.0.6000.16809, and a further separate machine running IE6 which I then upgraded to IE8. I thought initially it might be Flash player related but on upgrading from version 9 to 10 of the flash player the problem remains. Further digging around indicated that the error can be caused by having a corrupted flash font file, or having one present that was generated with a previous revision of SIFR3. However I have exported the flash font file using the supplied fla with revision 436 but the problem remains. Usually I like to track the answer down myself but as it is I'm at a bit of a loss on this one so if anyone has any ideas what might be happening here then I would be very grateful! Regards, Mark

    I've reached a point in my independent development work where I would like to start using Subversion techniques. Up to now, I've been simply making backups by exporting my current database, and zipping them together with my PHP project files. I've read some articles online and watched a video with Linus Torvalds - the general verdict seems to be that Git is in and old CVS techniques are out. I'm not currently operating under Linux, I do all PHP work out of Windows - Eclipse. Due to the fact that Eclipse runs on JVM, jumping into Linux - Eclipse will be more or less transparent - file system aside. What I would like to accomplish is being able to keep a constant revision history - But I want this to be almost entirely transparent. Also, I work in an MVC framework, and I would like to be able to release my views to Designers, and have them work from within the revision control system too. Will Egit accomplish what I need? Or is it too much overhead for a one-man workforce? What do you recommend I use so that I can keep a revision history? I also require the service to be free! Thank you all - StackOverflow ftw!

If possible, how should I cast an existing Page object to a PageRevision and ensure that the PageRevision constructor is called to create a new revision ID?     Hi, To checkout I use the following command CVSROOT="/home/projects/stuff/" cvs co mywork with the mywork directory I have text files as well as pictures, i.e., looks something like this - paper.tex - pic1.jpg - pic2.jpg etc. In particular, I am interested in checking out all the version of paper.tex over time. Is there a way how I can check all revisions of this file out at once? Or which command can I use to see when revision have been made to this particular file? many thanks for your help, Andrew

    StackOverflow implements it like this: <link rel="stylesheet" href="http://sstatic.net/so/all.css?v=4542"> Every time the referenced files change, the href attribute of the link tag is updated in the HTML code, thus supporting caching and updated referenced files. My question - how do you retrieve the subversion version of that css file to include in the link? Subversion keywords only tell you the revision of the file you are currently in. I'm working with PHP/CodeIgniter + jQuery.
