• Right approach to convert a word document that contains forms in a web app

  I would know if someone can suggest a good approach to convert a word document that contains forms in a web app, specifically in an application built with WaveMaker.(but I'm curious also with a general approach not strictly dependent on the technology that I have mentioned). For example, if I have a page in a word document, that maps the fields of a user entity, what could be my "programmer approach" to convert it without much use of copy-paste, but with a dynamic methodology ?

  I wrote a really cool bookmarklet and now I want to tell everyone. I have absolutely no idea where to go, is there some sort of exchange for these things? • Pronunciation of "char"

  I know there's another question on here already about pronunciation here, but it's got a whole list of programming terms. I'm just interested in finding out how everybody pronounces just one thing - "char". I personally like "care" as in the first syllable of "character", since that's what it represents, but in past experience I've found there are far more people who say "char" as in "char-broiled", and some who say "car". Sorry to start a holy war, but I'm curious.

  Are short identifiers bad? How does identifier length correlate with code comprehension? What other factors (besides code comprehension) might be of consideration when it comes to naming identifiers? Just to try to keep the quality of the answers up, please note that there is some research on the subject already! Edit Curious that everyone either doesn't think length is relevant or tend to prefer larger identifiers, when both links I provided indicate large identifiers are harmful!

• Flash video doesn't work after upgrade to 11.10

  I've found that after upgrading to 11.10 (32 bit), I can no longer watch streaming flash video on sites such as Ustream or Justin.tv. I've spent the last several hours installing this package and uninstalling that package, and purging everything flash-related and starting over, to no avail. I was curious if anybody else has run into similar issues and found a fix. I'm running an NVIDIA card, and I've tried both sets of drivers available.

• How are these bullets done?

  I really want to know how the bullets in Radiangames Inferno are done. The bullets seem like they are just billboard particles but I am curious about how their tails are implemented. They can curve so this means they are not just a billboard. Also, they appear continuous which implies that the tails are not made of a bunch of smaller particles (I think). Can anyone shead some light on this for me?

• Can I use VirtualBox as a sandbox for 12.04?

  I am quite a cautious person though not afraid to experiment. I currently have 11.10 Unity and 12.04 Beta 2 running on different partitions (no problems). I have learned here that Unity can run in VirtuaBox. When I upgrade to 12.04 LTS later this month, I am curious to understand if I could also run 12.04 in Virtual Box for experimentation and test some things before I implement them into my system? Maybe there is a better way to achieve this, without partitioning my hard drive.

One reason I understood that it makes the people better understand their API. • Image CDN with API?

  My company uses flickr and picasa web albums as poor man's content delivery networks (CDN) for image hosting, but I'm curious if anyone has any recommendations on any other services that might be worth looking into, paid and free? Preferably something that has an API so that it can be integrated discreetly on the backend as a WordPress plugin or for other development frameworks. A CDN such as Amazon is cheap, and it works, but the lack of a photo-centric API is what prevents me from using it for general usage.

• How does someone with a business degree become a software consultant?

  I'm a 4th year computer engineering student from a reputable university in Toronto and i'm curious as to how some of these software consulting positions with the large firms (Accenture, Deloitte, IBM, etc.) accept business grads as well as comp-sci and computer engineers? How does a business grad consult on software without having a background in software? Besides communication skills and other soft skills, what separates me from a business grad for these positions?   Now that Flash is largely being replaced with HTML5 elements (video, audio, canvas, etc.) are there any good examples of web-based games built on completely open standards (meaning Javascript, HTML and CSS)? I see a lot of examples of pure HTML5 implementations of what was once only in Flash (like stuff here: http://www.html5rocks.com/) but not many games, a domain which still seem dominated by Flash.   I sometime need to check some logs and I do this with this command: egrep -o "success|error|fail" <filename> | sort | uniq -c Sample input: test error on line 10 test connect success test insert success test started at 00:00 test delete fail Sample output: 1 error 1 fail 2 success I would like to know if someone knows a way to do this with a shorter command? • Can a NodeJS webserver handle multiple hostnames on the same IP?

  I have just begun learning NodeJS and LOVE it so far. I have set up a Linux box to run it and, in learning to use the event-driven model, I am curious if I can use a common IP for multiple domain names. Could I point, for example, www.websiteA.com, www.websiteB.com, and www.websiteC.com all to the same IP (node webserver) and then route to the appropriate source files based on the request? Would this cause certain doom when it came to scaling to any reasonable size?

• Need a bounding box for CCSprite that includes all children/subchildren

  I have a CCSprite that has CCSprite children, and those CCSprite children have CCSprite children. The contentSize property doesn't seem to include all children/subchildren, and seems to only work for the base node. I could write a recursive method to traverse a CCSprite for all children/subchildren and calculate a proper boundingbox, but am curious as to if I am missing something and it's possible to get that information without doing so. I'l be a little surprised if such a method doesn't exist, but I can't seem to find it.

  I am not sure if this is even possible but I have watched a few videos with programming examples where it seems like the program is being written in some kind of command prompt rather than a nice graphical compiler. Im just curious as to what might be going on in these videos.
