  • How to point subdomain to a nameserver?

    I've got an old crusty WHM/cPanel server which I'm trying to get rid of. I've got a new setup on shared hosting which is much cheaper in the long run. The problem is that there are a bunch of websites on the server whose domains I don't have access to. They're currently pointing to name servers of my domain (ns.mydomain.com), but the new provider has their own name servers (ns.provider.com) which I have to use instead. My initial idea was to set up a CNAME to point my name server to my provider's: ns.mydomain.com CNAME ns.provider.com, but I read in this question that this would be a bad idea. The accepted answer suggests using an A record instead, and I want to make sure how this would work. Assuming ns.provider.com has an IP address of 123.123.123.123, is it just a matter of doing ns.mydomain.com A 123.123.123.123? Is there any way the provider could block those requests as the name server domain technically doesn't belong to them?

  • Run SSH trough a proxy

    I have a question. How can i run SSH trough a proxy or a SSH Tunneling Protocol? For example i have a computer(Ubuntu) with ip eg. 123.123.123.123 and i want to connect to my server trough a proxy eg. 111.111.111.111 so i can see in lastlog that the last authentication was made from 123.123.123.123 . I need this because i cannot access a certain server at work only with an specified range IP. What i tried so far was http://daniel.haxx.se/docs/sshproxy.html where i used ssh -D 1 [email protected] -p 443 where i had 127.0.0.1 forwarded to a SSH Tunneling Protocol http://www.nixtutor.com/linux/installing-and-configuring-an-ssh-server/ (i configurated listening on port 443 but no result, still no connection (denied) ...) This question may sound simple, but i can't figure it out, can you please help me? Thanks.

    Here is VDS server with ip(for example 105.123.123.123) with working apache service. And there is a desktop computer with linux on board(but really I presume there is no difference). I need to type on web browser address like someaddress.com and to see website situated at my server. My /etc/hosts: 127.0.0.1 localhost 105.123.123.123 someaddress.com 105.123.123.123 www.someaddress.com But it doesn't work. I see real someaddress.com website. What can be wrong. It will be great if you help me with that. P.S. Why I need this. There is one project with fixed links(like someaddress.com/inf). And I need to test it.

Rebase off master so that my new feature can be developed against the latest upstream changes: (from newfeature-123) $ git rebase master master A---B---C---D---E---F \ newfeature-123 M---N---O I want to know how to do the same thing in Mercurial, and I've scoured the web for an answer, but the best I could find was this: http://www.selenic.com/pipermail/mercurial/2007-June/013393.html That link provides 2 examples: 1. I'll admit that this: (replacing the revisions from the example with those from my own example) hg up -C F hg branch -f newfeature-123 hg transplant -a -b newfeature-123 is not too bad, except that it leaves behind the pre-rebase M-N-O as an unmerged head and creates 3 new commits M',N',O' that represent them branching off the updated mainline. Basically the problem is that I end up with this: master A---B---C---D---E---F \ \ newfeature-123 \ M'---N'---O' \ newfeature-123 M---N---O this is not good because it leaves behind local, unwanted commits that should be dropped. I've got a log file on an old CentOS 4.x server and I want to remove log entries older than a certain date and place them in a new file for archive. Take the deleted events from step 1 and put them in a new log file (Optional) Compress the new archive log file holding the deleted events. I'm aware that there are log rotate tools that do this but this should just be a one-time task so I'd prefer not to set that up. Additional notes: If the date part it tricky or too resource intensive, an alternative would be to just keep the last X number of lines and move the rest. I was originally thinking of something like tail -n 10000 > newfile.txt but that would mean moving the "good" logs to a new file and then doing a name swap... and then I'd still need to remove the "good" entries from the archive. This particular log file is pretty large (1 GB) so I'd prefer the task to be as resource and time efficient as possible. The extra pipes in the log concern me and I'm not sure if I'd need extra protection in the commands to avoid that from causing problems.

Every other list element is either given the class attribute li1 or li2 (the purpose of which is to alternate the colors). The list elements need the white-space: pre because the white space before and after the text node is important. The pre is to be 80% of the containing element (which ends up being 80% of the window's width). In the event of overflow in the x dimension, I want scrolling. I did all this in the above CSS, and it almost works. The issue I am having is that the background colors of the list elements don't extend with the content. They seem to be capped to the original width of the pre and/or ol element as demonstrated in the following picture where I scroll all the way right as possible: I tinkered with the CSS for a while, but I cannot determine the root cause for this or the fix. Looking for some advice on this one, thanks.     Hi there, My powershell script takes the following parameter: Param($BackedUpFilePath) The value that is getting passed into my script is: "\123.123.123.123\Backups\Website.7z" I have another variable which is the location I want to extract the file: $WebsiteDeploymentFolder = "C:\example" I am trying to extract the archive with the following command: `7z x $BackedUpFilePath -o$WebsiteDeploymentFolder -aoa I keep getting the following error: Error: cannot find archive The following works but I need $BackedUpFilePath to be dynamic: `7z x '\123.123.123.123\Backups\Website.7z' -o$WebsiteDeploymentFolder -aoa I think I need to pass $BackedUpFilePath to 7z with quotes but they seem to get stripped out no matter what I try.     I'm writing a simple mod_perl handler that relies on $r-path_info() to do some request routing. However, I find that it's always eating the first part of PATH_INFO when mounted on root. Let's say that the handler just prints the value of $r-path_info: <Location /TEST> PerlHandler MyHandler </Location> Request: /TEST/123 Expected PATH_INFO: /123 Got PATH_INFO: /123 (yay!) <VirtualHost *:80> # or <Location /> for that matter PerlHandler MyHandler </VirtualHost> Request: /123 Expected PATH_INFO: /123 Got PATH_INFO: nothing!   • Outlook receives winmail.txt attachment instead of Excel, PowerPoint or Word attachments from Lotus notes senders

    Ok so the title pretty much says it all. We are offering a Hosted Exchange solution for our customer. Everything is working fine except for one customer complaining that he is receiving winmail.dat or winmail.txt attachments instead of the actual Word Excel or PowerPoint attachments he should be receiving, only when these messages come from a specific European senders, that is using Lotus Notes. I know that usually the problem is coming from Outlook senders to other mail clients, but this is not the first they inform me of this but I can't find anything on the matter so far. Has anyone ever gotten and solved this problem? If not, does anyone have any idea regarding this? I had solved this problem a few months ago, by upgrading Outlook to SP2 and then uninstalling it using the Service Pack removing tool of Microsoft. It seems that only the latest SP1 version could work but not the SP2. The problem is that now nothing is working at all. Thank you for your help, Philippe

  • Use Outlook 2007 to connect to mail using active sync protocol

    Has anyone tried connected outlook(I am running v2007 on Windows 7) to a mail service using the MS Exchange Active Sync protocol? I know it is intended for mobile devices, but to me it looks like it is becoming the latest 'de facto' mail protocol for email/calendar/contact sync'ing due to the iPhone's support for it. I just think it would be an elegant solution to get my lotus notes mail in outlook(my company uses lotus notes with traveler service installed that exposes mail over the active sync protocol so I can currently read my notes mail via iPhone). This solution would probably eliminate the need for all the hacks needed to connect outlook to 'X' mail (Gmail, notes, etc) So, maybe someone out there has tried this or knows how to do it before spend time on more researching this. Using this line: $con = mssql_connect('123.123.123.123','Username','Password') or die('Could not connect to the server!'); I'm receiving this error: Warning: mssql_connect() [function.mssql-connect]: Unable to connect to server: 123.123.123.123 in /home/file/public_html/structure/index.php on line 4 Could not connect to the server! My hosting provider assures me that ports are open for my server to connect to the DB. Looking at my php info, MSSQL Support is enabled, using FreeTDS. Any ideas why this would be failing, or how I can begin trouble shooting the problem?

String RepeatForUnit = (string)((object[])docCalendarDoc.GetItemValue("RepeatForUnit"))[0]; Initially i was getting "D" for Daily event, "W" for Weekly and "Y" for Yearly. But now properties field not showing any of this value even after adding Repeat in calender.It is not visible in Properties list of Lotus Notes Calender and showing "" (black entry) for above code.     I have a Windows 2003 SBS box. It has 2 physical NIC's: WAN and LAN. The WAN is a public IP. The LAN is a simple 192.168.2.x subnet with Microsoft DHCP Server. Microsoft Routing and Remote Access Service is used to provide NAT to LAN. The box also runs VMware Server with a virtual machine running Windows XP. I want people to be able to VPN into the box, and connect to these virtual machines on the MSRDP port. I can VPN (PPTP) into the 2003 SBS box fine, as well as ping other machines on the LAN. I can ping the VM from a physical workstation on the LAN and vice-versa. I can ping the VPN client from the a physical workstation on the LAN and vice-versa. I can ping the VPN client from the Server console and vice-versa. I can ping the VM client from the Server console and vice-versa. But I cannot ping the VPN client from the VM and vice-versa. I was hoping to set up 2 or 3 Windows XP virtual machines on our only server, so that a couple of people can remote in to work without having to leave a physical machine on in the office. You could this attempted set up a "poor mans terminal server".     I was thinking of turning this on some large databases not just mail files - we have around 8 - 10GB of large databases as well as small databases of couple of hundred MB in size.
