• can't get pingfm class work (ruby)

  I have simple code from Ping.fm Ruby Client/Library require 'pingfm' pingfm = Pingfm::Client.new('api_key', 'user_app_key') but it gives me uninitialized constant Pingfm (NameError) pingfm gem is installed, just there was this error message Could not find main page README during installation. Any idea how I can get it work? I am using: ruby 1.8.6 (2008-08-11 patchlevel 287) [i386-mswin32] pingfm (1.0.2)

• Can emacs generate a table of comments and number sections of a document?

  I'm writing a plain text document with numbered sections or chapters and am wondering if emacs can help with numbering and re-numbering sections. And of course would be great if it could then generate a table of contents as well. I have had a search on google and looked through the emacs wiki but did not come up with anything other than for latex stuff and possibly muse mode, but I would like to keep this as a plain text README style document. Thanks for any help or suggestions.

• High Load mysql on Debian server

  I have Debian server with 32 gb memory. And there is apache2, memcached and nginx on this server. Memory load always on maximum. Only 500m free. Most memory leak do MySql. Apache only 70 clients configured, other services small memory usage. When mysql use all memory it stops. And nothing works, need mysql reboot. Mysql configured use maximum 24 gb memory. I have hight weight InnoDB bases. (400000 rows, 30 gb). And on server multithread daemon, that makes many inserts in this tables, thats why InnoDB. There is my mysql config. • p7zip installs, but doesn't install? (7za: command not found)

  I've uploaded it to /usr/local and used ./install.sh with ssh. I get the following: - installing /usr/local/man/man1/7z.1 - installing /usr/local/man/man1/7za.1 - installing /usr/local/man/man1/7zr.1 - installing /usr/local/share/doc/p7zip/README - installing /usr/local/share/doc/p7zip/ChangeLog - installing HTML help in /usr/local/share/doc/p7zip/DOCS This is what I should be getting right? However, when trying to use 7za, it's constantly telling me 'command not found'. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Some else I also have to do?

• Uninstall Apache using make

  I installed httpd using make. But i cant find any remove/uninstall method in README or INSTALL files. Also, i searched the http://apache.org docs. There also there is no mention of uninstalling using make. Actually, i didnt pass the PREFIX value, and it got installed into /usr/local/apache/. Is it fine? • How do I roll back to the shipped version of Thunderbird?

  I was using thunderbird v15.0 on ubuntu 12.04 LTS till now, and have the lightning extension installed to manage calendar within thunderbird application. everything was working fine until i decided to update thunderbird to the latest version 16.0 from ubuntu repository. installation was successful, and the profile everything was taken care of perfectly, except that now lightning is not working - it is disabled as lightning v1.7 is NOT compatible with latest thunderbird v16 yet. As a result i am at loss with all my scheduling. now, i would like to go back to thunderbird v15 so that i can use lightning. ubuntu repository only gives TB v16 now. on mozilla site, they are still giving v15 for linux, so i downloaded the tarball and uncompressed using command line. now i have a folder called thunderbird. there are no readme/ configuration files. there are following 'executable files' inside this folder: crashreporter, mozilla-remote-client, plugin-container, thunderbird and thunderbird-bin. i tried invoking thunderbird and thunderbird-bin from command line using sudo, still nothing is opening up. i have execute permissions for this folder contents. i m quite new to linux. please let me know why i m not able to launch thunderbird. did i install it incorrectly? please let me know if i can get a .deb package for TB v15.

• High CPU usage when running a CentOS guest in VirtualBox

  I am running CentOS 5.3 as a VirtualBox 3.0.0 guest running on Windows XP. The Windows host CPU usage is constantly at 50% although the CentOS guest is completely idle (i.e. 0.00 load average). I know this is a common problem related to the 1000Hz frequency that the CentOS kernel runs at, and previously a special kernel-vm packages were released to resolve the issue. However, these packages are out of date and the README says that they are not not necessary as of CentOS 5.3. I found out that there is supposedly a kernel parameter divider=10 that reduces the frequency to 100Hz with the standard kernel but it doesn't seem to have any effect when running inside VirtualBox. Is there any way to resolve the issue without resorting to a custom kernel?

• MySQL 5.1.49 freezing every two days

  Hi all, our mysql system is "freezing" every two days. By "freezing" i mean the following: it doesn't respond to ping we can't login with SSH we don't get any answer from MySQL there is no entry in the error logs! neither from linux neither from MySQL. we have already changed to a completely new hardware, we have the same problem, so it's definitely not a hardware problem. we do not have any other software installed except a firewall (iptables rule) we can restart the server from another server using rsyslog (www.rsyslog.com)(software reset) Could someone help me, by giving me some pointers what could i do to figure out the problem? • Recovery of Pinnacle Studio Project Files

  My external hard drive had some sort of issue a few months ago, but I was able to recover my files using a data recovery software program. However my Pinnacle studio files are not being recovered as before, they are being recovered as directory's/folders that have sub directory's and files. And I have tried with several different recovery programs and they all recover the projects as directories. And the projects all contain one file called README.TXT: * WARNING This directory contains the descriptive data of the project, split into. various subdirectories and files for better access. DO NOT EDIT, ADD, CHANGE OR MODIFY ANY OF IT'S CONTENTS! This gives me hope that I could some how just turn the directory into a .stu Pinnacle studio project file. How would I go about doing this? Or is there another way to solve this problem?

• Why won't vsftpd let me log in with a virtual user account?

  I would like to use vsftpd with virtual users and pam_pwdfile.so. I installed vsftpd and added two users (ramon and dragon) via htpasswd to my file /etc/vsftpd.passwd. The /etc/pam.d/vsftpd is configured to use this file. auth required pam_listfile.so item=user sense=deny file=/etc/ftpusers onerr=succeed auth required pam_pwdfile.so pwdfile /etc/vsftpd.passwd account required pam_permit.so @include common-account @include common-session The user "ramon" is also available in /etc/passwd. A login to the ftp with the user "ramon" works as expected. But a login using "dragon" does not :/ The result is always Login failed: 530 Login incorrect. Since it's possible that I made a mistake I tried the exact way documented in /usr/share/doc/vsftpd/examples/VIRTUAL_USERS/README. Still no luck. I can login with the user "ramon", but not with the user "dragon". Any ideas?

  I'm trying to compile using the llvm-3.1 package. I'm running 12.04 x64 (3.2.0-26 kernel) && 12.10 (3.5.0-4) x64 backported llvm-3.1 from quantal, then debian experimental.   I need a sanity check on this .htaccess (from a WordPress site) I inherited from a 5 month+ old site. What's the symptom? Google + Bing crawl, but don't index any of the pages. Let me be clear: I'm not mad about "not ranking high." I think something is (accidentally) rejecting search engine indexing. I am not an expert on .htaccess, but one part especially looked funny, the Limit GET POST line. Is it not weird to have both Allow and Deny all, with no parameters? • Announcement: Oracle Database Appliance 2.4 patch update now available

  The Oracle Database Appliance 2.4 patch is now available from My Oracle Support (MOS).  If you search for the Oracle Database Appliance 2.4.0.0.0 Kit under Patches it will display the newly uploaded bundles. The patch highlights include: Normal redundancy (double-mirroring) option providing 6TB of usable storage Enhanced Diagnostics - Trace File Analyzer and ODACHK Also, if you review the README, you may see content that says:        "The grid infrastructure and database patching, both are rolling upgradable. During our patching, we patch the node 1 first and when completed, we patch the node 2." I would like to clarify that the 'infrastructure' updates (OS, Firmware, ILOM, etc) will require a  short downtime of the ODA while it is applied.  When you update the grid infrastructure (--gi), the appliance manager verifies that the infrastructure was updated so you cannot just patch the GI without first updating the infrastructure. The high level update patch steps include (but not limited to): Download patch update to your ODA The --infra (infrastructure) is updated and ODA Databases are down and the ODA is/may be rebooted ODA and GI/Databases are restarted Issue the command to update the Grid Infrastructure/databases (The order of the steps are completed automatically and you cannot control when the nodes are brought up and down during the patching) Node 1 -- shutdown databases and GI Node 1 -- patch GI/database Node 1 -- bring up databases and GI Node 2 -- shutdown databases and GI Node 2 -- patch GI/database Node 2 -- bring up databases and GI A replay from Friday's with Sohan on the 2.4 release can be found here.  The PDF of the presentation is here. • Fatal error on "mode 120000" file during git -> svn migration

  Following instructions from the following website: http://code.google.com/p/support/wiki/ImportingFromGit I'm trying to migrate a git repository to svn, but during the "git rebase master tmp" step it fails with the following error after apply the first few patches: $ git rebase master tmp First, rewinding head to replay your work on top of it... Applying: Imported Applying: Cleaned up the readme file Applying: fix problem with versions fatal: unable to write file foobar mode 120000 Patch failed at 0003 fix problem with versions When you have resolved this problem run "git rebase --continue". If you would prefer to skip this patch, instead run "git rebase --skip". To restore the original branch and stop rebasing run "git rebase --abort". I understand that 120000 may refer to a symlink, but Subversion has supported symlinks for a long time now. Subversion installed is 1.6.5, Git is 1.6.3.3. Running on Ubuntu Linux. The system is not running out of disk space and this operation is taking place within my home directory so permissions should not be an issue.
