• Glassfish 3 Cant update JDK no way

  Hello.. I was using 1.6.0_19 jdk and installed 1.6.0_20 jdk.. Glassfish doesnt like that... Here are my windows environment variables..   What can be the reason that Windows XP does not show WPA-encrypted wireless networks? The laptop I have problems with is an older model (Toshiba Satellite Pro 6100) with Windows XP SP3 on it, fresh install. The wireless network card in it is an Agere product that lists as "Toshiba Wireless LAN Mini PCI Card". The networks showed up perfectly before I first tried to connect to one (it was set to WPA2). The connection failed (the card supports WPA only), then something must have happend and Windows hides these networks now. A manually configured WPA setup via Windows' own wizard works, I'm using it right now. The network just won't show up in the list of available network on its own. I suspect that XP incorrectly set a flag somewhere that this network card does not support WPA. Is there such a flag, and if so, how can I change it back?

In my cromium browser I tried the following ip addresses: Standard Usual IPs : 192.168.1.1, 192.168.0.1 (connection hangs and goes no where) On the back of my router: 192.168.11.1, 192.168.11.100 (connection hangs and goes nowhere ) In some tcpip info: 192.168.24.1 (unable to connect error message) If someone could give me some terminal commands that will help me find my wireless router address or some trouble shooting ideas, I would be very thankful.

  I've recently bought a refurbished Toshiba Satellite A660 11M and I get the blue screen of death appearing fairly frequently now, and I can't seem to work out why or how to prevent/cure it. Firstly I thought it was due to Zone Alarm from what I read on the net, but then I thought it was a memory issue after it crashed whilst I was running Memtest. But after I ran Memtest a second time, it completed without any errors... • Networking conflict - What is the most common default computer name?

  I recently had to change the name of my computer to log onto a public wi-fi spot, because a computer with my name was already logged on. (I asked a guy there what to do after it said there was already a computer named "Dell(omitted)" logged on.) I've never been at a wifi spot that you had to log into before. I didn't even notice what the computer's name was before. My question is what are the most common default computer names. I'm curious. How often does this sort of problem happen? (I read via Google that Redhat linux default to "localhost" and Toshiba laptops default to "Toshiba.") Somebody probably keeps statistics. (I was referred here from serverfault.com) Thanks

So, you can have a max of 4 GB RAM in that. The ES5034 can support 8 GB RAM, so, in a couple of years, if I want to add another 4 GB RAM I will be able to do it. The price for ST2544 is USD 629.00 whereas, the price for a ES5034 is USD685. A difference is USD 55.00 (not a major amount, but still something extra). Is it worthwhile going for the ES5034? Which Windows Operating System supports 8 GB of RAM?

  I have a Toshiba Satellite A200 1-GH. My sister's old laptop was also a Toshiba. The adaptors were mixed somehow, and I've been using the wrong adaptor for a very long time. I've realized this when my computer could not work without the adaptor plugged in. When I checked out the voltage-amps values, the values on my computer were 19V-4.7A, the values on the adaptor were 19V-3.42A. I bought a new adaptor corresponding to the values written under the computer immediately but I was wondering if the battery should also be replaced? If so, what happened to the battery technically that made it useless anymore? Can anybody help?

  I upgraded Ubuntu to 12.04 from 11.10. The printer works, but the scanner doesn't now. In 11.10 I had to install a special driver from Brother. The printer's model is Brother MFC-290C. The computer is a Toshiba Satellite. How can I get the scanner working? Update: I have a 64-bit installation on the Toshiba Satellite. Thank you for your instructions, Chad--24216. • Internet is far slower in Ubuntu than Windows 7 on dual-booted machine

  Edit: I'll leave the original post as-is, but after further investigation, it appears that the problem is something to do with my wi-fi card. Speeds are normal when I connect via cable. Edit 2: Problem was solved. It was something to do with the wireless card drivers. I normally use Windows 7 on my laptop and have internet speeds that are normally about 15-20 Mb/s. I have recently dual-booted with Ubuntu 12.10, and have noticed that internet speeds are drastically slower in Ubuntu. When tested, speeds range from 0.2-2 Mb/s, although occasionally being significantly faster than that or even stopping completely for short periods of time. I've also noticed that when first booting into Ubuntu, speeds start fairly fast, and drop to incredibly slow with a few seconds to a few minutes. There's still some possibility that the issue may be with my ISP, as things seem slower than usual even in Windows, but I suspect that it is related to Ubuntu, as things are far slower in Ubuntu than in Windows. I'm wondering, what could be the cause of this? Potentially relevant information: -I've dual booted before on this machine with earlier versions of Ubuntu (different ISP at the time) with no problem. • Slow USB 3.0 speeds

  Long time forum forager, first time poster. I bought a Toshiba 500 GB usb 3.0 hard drive last week and instantly ran home to see how fast I could push it. On my desktop (that I built) I was able to get 200 MB/sec. • Disk Drive not working

  The CD/DVD drive on my sisters' (I'm helping her shift from Win. XP (now officially deprecated by Microsoft) to Ubuntu) system. Now, it may end up being a failed attempt, all together (Almost the whole last year (when she's been on XP) the disk drive hasn't (not even powering on) been working.), I just want to make sure I've explored every remote possibility. Because I figure, "Huh, now that I've got Ubuntu running, instead of XP, that (just) might make a difference.". • Post 12.04 Update, stuck on splash screen

• No sound through hdmi to TV

  I have a Toshiba Satellite Laptop Model P745-S4102 with Intel integrated graphics and Ubuntu 12.04 LTS installed recently. When I connect my HDMI TV to it I only get video through it and no audio. In the System Settings - Sound, there is no option to select HDMI as the output. I read other threads in this site and it seems like at least guys had HDMI option but no sound. I don't even get that. Please help!!

When I plug in an 8 gig flash drive it is recognized no problem. What do I mean by "not recognized"? I mean: how do you know it was not recognized. You can check the command "cat /proc/partitions" in a terminal with and without the hdd attached. If you see some difference, it's ok. If the difference is something like "sda1" (sd+letter+number) then you have partition on it, maybe it can't be handled in Ubuntu (no filesystem on it or so). If there is only "sda" in the difference for example (sd+letter, but no number after it) then the drive itself is detected, just no partition is created on it. Also you can check out the messages of the kernel, with the "dmesg" command in the terminal. If there is no disk/partition/anything in /proc/partitions, there can be an USB level problem, you can issue command "lsusb" as it was suggested before my answer. • How do I get keyboard to write hiragana instead of katakana?

  I added the Japanese Layout in Keyboard preferences, however all the layouts look like being in katakana. I suspect that the key that is left of number 1 (above Tab and under Esc) could be the one to switch from katakana to hiragana however I don't have that key in my keyboard and my other Toshiba laptop does not have it either. I really don't know what to do, I simply want to be able to write in hiragana in Ubuntu. Thanks

• Ubuntu 14.04 hangs at purple screen after it asks for my password

  I have installed Ubuntu 14.04LTS onto a Toshiba Tecra M5. The install appears to have been successful but when it says "install complete restart your computer" the computer does not restart. It just sits there, then after a forced shut down Ubuntu appears to start, icons appear in the top right hand corner of the screen but after it asks for my password it just hangs up on the purple screen. Can anyone help ?
