  • Casting Type array to Generic array?

    - by George R
    The short version of the question - why can't I do this? I'm restricted to .NET 3.5. T[] genericArray; // Obviously T should be float! genericArray = new T[3]{ 1.0f, 2.0f, 0.0f }; // Can't do this either, why the hell not genericArray = new float[3]{ 1.0f, 2.0f, 0.0f }; Longer version - I'm working with the Unity engine here, although that's not important. What is - I'm trying to throw conversion between its fixed Vector2 (2 floats) and Vector3 (3 floats) and my generic Vector< class. I can't cast types directly to a generic array. using UnityEngine; public struct Vector { private readonly T[] _axes; #region Constructors public Vector(int axisCount) { this._axes = new T[axisCount]; } public Vector(T x, T y) { this._axes = new T[2] { x, y }; } public Vector(T x, T y, T z) { this._axes = new T[3]{x, y, z}; } public Vector(Vector2 vector2) { // This doesn't work this._axes = new T[2] { vector2.x, vector2.y }; } public Vector(Vector3 vector3) { // Nor does this this._axes = new T[3] { vector3.x, vector3.y, vector3.z }; } #endregion #region Properties public T this[int i] { get { return _axes[i]; } set { _axes[i] = value; } } public T X { get { return _axes[0];} set { _axes[0] = value; } } public T Y { get { return _axes[1]; } set { _axes[1] = value; } } public T Z { get { return this._axes.Length (Vector2 vector2) { Vector vector = new Vector(vector2); return vector; } public static explicit operator Vector(Vector3 vector3) { Vector vector = new Vector(vector3); return vector; } #endregion }

  • Understanding c-pointers for rows in 2-dimensional array

    - by utdiscant
    I have the following code: int main() { int n = 3, m = 4, a[n][m], i, j, (* p)[m] = a; for (i = 0; i < n; i++) for (j = 0; j < m; j++) a[i][j] = 1; p++; (*p)[2] = 9; return 0; } I have a hard time understanding what p is here, and the consequences of the operations on p in the end. Can someone give me a brief explanation of what happens. I know c-pointers in their simple settings, but here it get slightly more complicated.

  • Get vertex colors from fbx (OpenGL, FBX SDK)

    - by instancedName
    I'm kinda stuck with this one. I managed to get vertex positions, indices, normals, but I don't quite understand how te get vertex colors. I need them to fill my buffer. I tried funcion mesh-GetElementVertexColorCount() and then to iterate trough all of them, but it returns zero. I alse tried to get layer, and then use layer-GetVertexColors(), but it returns NULL pointer. Can anyone help me with this one?

  • How to send multiple MVP matrices to a vertex shader in OpenGL ES 2.0

    - by Carbon Crystal
    I'm working my way through optimizing the rendering of sprites in a 2D game using OpenGL ES and I've hit the limit of my knowledge when it comes to GLSL and vertex shaders. I have two large float buffers containing my vertex coordinates and texture coordinates (eventually this will be one buffer) for multiple sprites in order to perform a single glDrawArrays call. This works but I've hit a snag when it comes to passing the transformation matrix into the vertex shader. My shader code is: uniform mat4 u_MVPMatrix; attribute vec4 a_Position; attribute vec2 a_TexCoordinate; varying vec2 v_TexCoordinate; void main() { v_TexCoordinate = a_TexCoordinate; gl_Position = u_MVPMatrix * a_Position; } In Java (Android) I am using a FloatBuffer to store the vertex/texture data and this is provided to the shader like so: mGlEs20.glVertexAttribPointer(mVertexHandle, Globals.GL_POSITION_VERTEX_COUNT, GLES20.GL_FLOAT, false, 0, mVertexCoordinates); mGlEs20.glVertexAttribPointer(mTextureCoordinateHandle, Globals.GL_TEXTURE_VERTEX_COUNT, GLES20.GL_FLOAT, false, 0, mTextureCoordinates); (The Globals.GL_POSITION_VERTEX_COUNT etc are just integers with the value of 2 right now) And I'm passing the MVP (Model/View/Projection) matrix buffer like this: GLES20.glUniformMatrix4fv(mMVPMatrixHandle, 1, false, mModelCoordinates); (mModelCoordinates is a FloatBuffer containing 16-float sequences representing the MVP matrix for each sprite) This renders my scene but all the sprites share the same transformation, so it's obviously only picking the first 16 elements from the buffer which makes sense since I am passing in "1" as the second parameter. The documentation for this method says: "This should be 1 if the targeted uniform variable is not an array of matrices, and 1 or more if it is an array of matrices." So I tried modifying the shader with a fixed size array large enough to accomodate most of my scenarios: uniform mat4 u_MVPMatrix[1000]; But this lead to an error in the shader: cannot convert from 'uniform array of 4X4 matrix of float' to 'Position 4-component vector of float' This just seems wrong anyway as it's not clear to me how the shader would know when to transition to the next matrix anyway. Anyone have an idea how I can get my shader to pick up a different MVP matrix (i.e. the NEXT 16 floats) from my MVP buffer for every 4 vertices it encounters? (I am using GL_TRIANGLE_STRIP so each sprite has 4 vertices). Thanks!

  • Setting uniform value of a vertex shader for different sprites in a SpriteBatch

    - by midasmax
    I'm using libGDX and currently have a simple shader that does a passthrough, except for randomly shifting the vertex positions. This shift is a vec2 uniform that I set within my code's render() loop. It's declared in my vertex shader as uniform vec2 u_random. I have two different kind of Sprites -- let's called them SpriteA and SpriteB. Both are drawn within the same SpriteBatch's begin()/end() calls. Prior to drawing each sprite in my scene, I check the type of the sprite. If sprite instance of SpriteA: I set the uniform u_random value to Vector2.Zero, meaning that I don't want any vertex changes for it. If sprite instance of SpriteB, I set the uniform u_random to Vector2(MathUtils.random(), MathUtils.random(). The expected behavior was that all the SpriteA objects in my scene won't experience any jittering, while all SpriteB objects would be jittering about their positions. However, what I'm experiencing is that both SpriteA and SpriteB are jittering, leading me to believe that the u_random uniform is not actually being set per Sprite, and being applied to all sprites. What is the reason for this? And how can I fix this such that the vertex shader correctly accepts the uniform value set to affect each sprite individually? passthrough.vsh attribute vec4 a_color; attribute vec3 a_position; attribute vec2 a_texCoord0; uniform mat4 u_projTrans; uniform vec2 u_random; varying vec4 v_color; varying vec2 v_texCoord; void main() { v_color = a_color; v_texCoord = a_texCoord0; vec3 temp_position = vec3( a_position.x + u_random.x, a_position.y + u_random.y, a_position.z); gl_Position = u_projTrans * vec4(temp_position, 1.0); } Java Code this.batch.begin(); this.batch.setShader(shader); for (Sprite sprite : sprites) { Vector2 v = Vector2.Zero; if (sprite instanceof SpriteB) { v.x = MathUtils.random(-1, 1); v.y = MathUtils.random(-1, 1); } shader.setUniformf("u_random", v); sprite.draw(this.batch); } this.batch.end();

  • I'm having an issue to use GLshort for representing Vertex, and Normal.

    - by Xylopia
    As my project gets close to optimization stage, I notice that reducing Vertex Metadata could vastly improve the performance of 3D rendering. Eventually, I've dearly searched around and have found following advices from stackoverflow. Using GL_SHORT instead of GL_FLOAT in an OpenGL ES vertex array How do you represent a normal or texture coordinate using GLshorts? Advice on speeding up OpenGL ES 1.1 on the iPhone Simple experiments show that switching from "FLOAT" to "SHORT" for vertex and normal isn't tough, but what troubles me is when you're to scale back verticies to their original size (with glScalef), normals are multiplied by the reciprocal of the scale. Natural remedy for this is to multiply the normals w/ scale before you submit to GPU. Then, my short normals almost become 0, because the scale factor is usually smaller than 0. Duh! How do you use "short" for both vertex and normal at the same time? I've been trying this and that for about a full day, but I could only go for "float vertex w/ byte normal" or "short vertex w/ float normal" so far. Your help would be truly appreciated.

  • How to define a static array without a contant size in a constructor of a class? (C++)

    - by Keand64
    I have a class defined as: class Obj { public: int width, height; Obj(int w, int h); } and I need it to contain a static array like so: int presc[width][height]; however, I cannot define within the class, so it it possible to create a pointer to a 2D array (and, out of curiosity, 3, 4, and 5D arrays), have that as a member of the class, and intitalize it in the constructor like: int ar[5][6]; Obj o(5, 6, &ar); If that isn't possible, is there any way to get a static array without a contant size in a class, or am I going to have to use a dynamic array? (Something I don't want to do because I don't plan on ever changing the size of the array after it's created.)

  • Defaulting the HLSL Vertex and Pixel Shader Levels to Feature Level 9_1 in VS 2012

    - by Michael B. McLaughlin
    I love Visual Studio 2012. But this is not a post about that. This is a post about tweaking one particular parameter that I’ve found a bit annoying. Disclaimer: You will be modifying important MSBuild files. If you screw up you will break your build tools. And maybe your computer will catch fire. I’m not responsible. No warranties or guaranties of any sort. This info is provided “as is”. By default, if you add a new vertex shader or pixel shader item to a project, it will be set to build with shader profile 4.0_level_9_3. If you need 9_3 functionality, this is all well and good. But (especially for Windows Store apps) you really want to target the lowest shader profile possible so that your game will run on as many computers as possible. So it’s a good idea to default to 9_1. To do this you could add in new HLSL files via “Add->New Item->Visual C++->HLSL->______ Shader File (.hlsl)” and then edit the shader files’ properties to set them manually to use 9_1 via “Properties->HLSL Compiler->General->Shader Model”. This is fine unless you forget to do this once and then submit your game with 9_3 shaders instead of 9_1 shaders to the Windows Store or to some other game store. Then you’d wind up with either rejection or angry “this doesn’t work on my computer! ripoff!” messages. There’s another option though. In “Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 11.0\Common7\IDE\ItemTemplates\VC\HLSL\1033\VertexShader” (note the path might vary slightly for you if you are using a 32-bit system or have a non-ENU version of Visual Studio 2012) you will find a “VertexShader.vstemplate” file. If you open this file in a text editor (e.g. Notepad++), then inside the CustomParameters tag within the TemplateContent tag you should see a CustomParameter tag for the ShaderType, i.e.: <CustomParameter Name="$ShaderType$" Value="Vertex"/> On a new line, we are going to add another CustomParameter tag to the CustomParameters tag. It will look like this: <CustomParameter Name="$ShaderModel$" Value="4.0_level_9_1"/> such that we now have:     <CustomParameters>       <CustomParameter Name="$ShaderType$" Value="Vertex"/>       <CustomParameter Name="$ShaderModel$" Value="4.0_level_9_1"/>     </CustomParameters> You can then save the file (you will need to be an Administrator or have Administrator access). Back in the 1033 directory (or whatever the number is for your language), go into the “PixelShader” directory. Edit the “PixelShader.vstemplate” file and make the same change (note that this time $ShaderType$ is “Pixel” not “Vertex”; you shouldn’t be changing that line anyway, but if you were to just copy and replace the above four lines then you will wind up creating pixel shaders that the HLSL compiler would try to compile as vertex shaders, with all sort of weird errors as a result). Once you’ve added the $ShaderModel$ line to “PixelShader.vstemplate” and have saved it, everything should be done. Since Feature Level 9_1 and 9_3 don’t support any of the other shader types, those are set to default to their appropriate minimums already (Compute and Geometry are set to “4.0” and Domain and Hull are set to “5.0”, which are their respective minimums (though not all 4.0 cards support Compute shaders; they were an optional feature added with DirectX 10.1 and only became required for DirectX 11 hardware). In case you are wondering where these magic values come from, you can find them all in the “fxc.xml” file in the “\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\Microsoft.CPP\v4.0\V110\1033” directory (or whatever your language number is; 1033 is ENU and various other product languages have their own respective numbers (see: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/goglobal/bb964664.aspx ) such that Japanese is 1041 (for example), though for all I know MSBuild tasks might be 1033 for everyone). If, like me, you installed VS 2012 to a drive other than the C:\ drive, you will find the vstemplate files in the drive to which you installed VS 2012 (D:\ in my case) but you will find the fxc.xml file on the C:\ drive. You should not edit fxc.xml. You will almost definitely break things by doing that; it’s just something you can look through to see all the other options that the FXC task takes such that you could, if needed, add further CustomParameter tags if you wanted to default to other supported options. I haven’t tried any others though so I don’t have any advice on how to set them.

  • Sum Values in Multidimensional Array

    - by lemonpole
    Hello all. I'm experimenting with arrays in PHP and I am setting up a fake environment where a "team's" record is held in arrays. $t1 = array ( "basicInfo" => array ( "The Sineps", "December 25, 2010", "lemonpole" ), "overallRecord" => array ( 0, 0, 0, 0 ), "overallSeasons" => array ( "season1.cs" => array (0, 0, 0), "season2.cs" => array (0, 0, 0) ), "matches" => array ( "season1.cs" => array ( "week1" => array ("12", "3", "1"), "week2" => array ("8", "8" ,"0"), "week3" => array ("8", "8" ,"0") ), "season2.cs" => array ( "week1" => array ("9", "2", "5"), "week2" => array ("12", "2" ,"2") ) ) ); What I am trying to achieve is to add all the wins, loss, and draws, from each season's week to their respective week. So for example, the sum of all the weeks in $t1["matches"]["season1.cs"] will be added to $t1["overallSeasons"]["season1.cs"]. The result would leave: "overallSeasons" => array ( "season1.cs" => array (28, 19, 1), "season2.cs" => array (21, 4, 7) ), I tried to work this out on my own for the past hour and all I have gotten is a little more knowledge of for-loops and foreach-loops :o... so I think I now have the basics down such as using foreach loops and so on; however, I am still fairly new to this so bear with me! I can get the loop to point to $t1["matches"] key and go through each season but I can't seem to figure out how to add all of the wins, loss, and draw, for each individual week. For now, I'm only looking for answers concerning the overall seasons sum since I can work from there once I figure out how to achieve this. Any help will be much appreciated but please, try and keep it simple for me... or comment the code accordingly please! Thanks!

  • Specific complex array sorting

    - by TheDeadMedic
    Okay, a before; Array ( 'home' => array('order' => 1), 'about' => array(), 'folio' => array('order' => 2), 'folio/web' => array('order' => 2), 'folio/print' => array('order' => 1) 'contact' => array('order' => 2) ) And a desired after; Array ( 'home' => array('order' => 1), 'contact' => array('order' => 2), 'folio' => array('order' => 2), 'folio/print' => array('order' => 1), 'folio/web' => array('order' => 2), 'about' => array() ) I know, horrific (don't ask!) See how the slash in the key indicates children, and how the order is nested accordingly? And items without orders are simply shifted to the bottom. But also how multiple 'same level' items with the same order are merely sorted by key?

  • PHP: Recursive array function

    - by Industrial
    Hi everybody, I want to create a function that returns the full path from a set node, back to the root value. I tried to make a recursive function, but ran out of luck totally. What would be an appropriate way to do this? I assume that a recursive function is the only way? Here's the array: Array ( [0] => Array ( [id] => 1 [name] => Root category [_parent] => ) [1] => Array ( [id] => 2 [name] => Category 2 [_parent] => 1 ) [2] => Array ( [id] => 3 [name] => Category 3 [_parent] => 1 ) [3] => Array ( [id] => 4 [name] => Category 4 [_parent] => 3 ) ) The result I want my function to output when getting full path of node id#4: Array ( [0] => Array ( [id] => 1 [name] => Root category [_parent] => ) [1] => Array ( [id] => 3 [name] => Category 3 [_parent] => 1 ) [2] => Array ( [id] => 4 [name] => Category 4 [_parent] => 3 ) ) The notoriously bad example of my recursive skills: function recursive ($id, $array) { $innerarray = array(); foreach ($array as $k => $v) { if ($v['id'] === $id) { if ($v['_parent'] !== '') { $innerarray[] = $v; recursive($v['id'], $array); } } } return $innerarray; } Thanks!

    I have trouble reading Postgresql arrays in PHP. I have tried explode(), but this breaks arrays containing commas in strings, and str_getcsv() but it's also no good as PostgreSQL doesn't quote the Japanese strings. Not working: explode(',', trim($pgArray, '{}')); str_getcsv( trim($pgArray, '{}') );

  • Convert between python array and .NET Array

    - by dungema
    I have a python method that returns a Python byte array.array('c'). Now, I want to copy this array using System.Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.Copy. This method however expects a .NET array. import array from System.Runtime.InteropServices import Marshal bytes = array.array('c') bytes.append('a') bytes.append('b') bytes.append('c') Marshal.Copy(bytes, dest, 0, 3) Is there a way to make this work without copying the data? If not, how do I convert the data in the Python array to the .NET array?

  • Formatting associative array declaration

    - by Drew Stephens
    When declaring an associative array, how do you handle the indentation of the elements of the array? I've seen a number of different styles (PHP syntax, since that's what I've been in lately). This is a pretty picky and trivial thing, so move along if you're interested in more serious pursuits. 1) Indent elements one more level: $array = array( 'Foo' => 'Bar', 'Baz' => 'Qux' ); 2) Indent elements two levels: $array = array( 'Foo' => 'Bar', 'Baz' => 'Qux' ); 3) Indent elements beyond the array constructor, with closing brace aligned with the start of the constructor: $array = array( 'Foo' => 'Bar', 'Baz' => 'Qux' ); 4) Indent elements beyond the array construct, with closing brace aligned with opening brace: $array = array( 'Foo' => 'Bar', 'Baz' => 'Qux' ); Personally, I like #3—the broad indentation makes it clear that we're at a break point in the code (constructing the array), and having the closing brace floating a bit to the left of all of the array's data makes it clear that this declaration is done.

  • Javascript array length incorrect on array of objects

    - by Serenti
    Could someone explain this (strange) behavior? Why is the length in the first example 3 and not 2, and most importantly, why is the length in the second example 0? As long as the keys are numerical, length works. When they are not, length is 0. How can I get the correct length from the second example? Thank you. a = []; a["1"] = {"string1":"string","string2":"string"}; a["2"] = {"string1":"string","string2":"string"}; alert(a.length); // returns 3 b = []; b["key1"] = {"string1":"string","string2":"string"}; b["key2"] = {"string1":"string","string2":"string"}; alert(b.length); // returns 0

  • Echo a multidimensional array in PHP

    - by Jennifer
    I have a multidimensional array and I'm trying to find out how to simply "echo" the elements of the array. The depth of the array is not known, so it could be deeply nested. In the case of the array below, the right order to echo would be: This is a parent comment This is a child comment This is the 2nd child comment This is another parent comment This is the array I was talking about: Array ( [0] => Array ( [comment_id] => 1 [comment_content] => This is a parent comment [child] => Array ( [0] => Array ( [comment_id] => 3 [comment_content] => This is a child comment [child] => Array ( [0] => Array ( [comment_id] => 4 [comment_content] => This is the 2nd child comment [child] => Array ( ) ) ) ) ) ) [1] => Array ( [comment_id] => 2 [comment_content] => This is another parent comment [child] => Array ( ) ) )

  • This for array colllision function doesn't work with anything but first object in array

    - by Zee Bashew
    For some reason, this simple simple loop is totally broken. (characterSheet is my character Class, it's just a movieClip with some extra functionality) (hitBox, is basically a square movieclip) Anyway: every time hitBox make contact with a characterSheet in a different order than they were created: Nothing happens. The program only seems to be listening to collisions that are made with o2[0]. As soon as another hitBox is created, it pushes the last one out of o2[0] and the last one becomes totally useless. What's super weird is that I can hit characterSheets in any order I like.... public function collisions(o1:Array, o2:Array) { if((o1.lenght>=0)&&(o2.length>=0)){ for (var i = 0; i < o1.length; i++) { var ob1 = o1[i]; for (var f = 0; f < o1.length; f++) { var ob2 = o2[f]; if (ob1 is characterSheet) { if (ob2.hitTestObject(ob1)) { var right:Boolean = true; if (ob1.x < hitBox(ob2).origin.x) right = false; characterSheet(ob1).specialDamage(hitBox(ob2).damageType, hitBox(ob2).damage, right); }}}}}} Also it might be somewhat helpful to see the function for creating a new hitBox public function SpawnHitBox(targeted, following, atype, xoff, yoff, ... args) { var newHitBox = new hitBox(targeted, following, atype, xoff, yoff, args); badCollisionObjects.push(newHitBox); arraydictionary[newHitBox] = badCollisionObjects; addChild(newHitBox); }

  • Find key of parent in array / PHP

    - by 106691756905536410593
    Perhaps someone can help me out with this one: I'm using a basic search function to find an array deep within an array. The problem is, once that array is found, I'd also like to return it's parent key. Is there a PHP function that can determine the parent key of an array? Below is an example of the Search Function... Ideally I'd like to return the array that is found, as well as it's parent key. function search($array, $key, $value){ $results = array(); if (is_array($array)){ if ($array[$key] == $value){ $results[] = $array; } foreach ($array as $subarray){ $results = array_merge($results, search($subarray, $key, $value)); } } return $results; }

I have an array sideVertice[] that holds a series of vertex structs defined as such typedef struct { GLfloat x; GLfloat y; GLfloat z; } Vertex3D; and an element array defined as such GLubyte elementArray[]; my draw loop is as such glLoadIdentity(); glVertexPointer(3, GL_FLOAT, 0, cube.sideVertice); for (int i=0; i<((cube.cubeSize + 1)*(cube.cubeSize + 1)); i++) { for (int j=0; j<=3; j++) { elementArray[j] = j + i*4; glDrawElements(GL_TRIANGLE_STRIP, 4, GL_UNSIGNED_BYTE, elementArray); } } for (int i=0; i<=3; i++) elementArray[i] = i; However, the visual output is corrupted and I cannot figure out what the problem is. here is an output of the vertice held in the array: 2010-04-15 23:44:48.816 RubixGL[4203:20b] vertex[0][0] x:-26.000000 y:1.000000 2010-04-15 23:44:48.817 RubixGL[4203:20b] vertex[1][1] x:-26.000000 y:26.000000 2010-04-15 23:44:48.826 RubixGL[4203:20b] vertex[2][2] x:-1.000000 y:1.000000 2010-04-15 23:44:48.829 RubixGL[4203:20b] vertex[3][3] x:-1.000000 y:26.000000 2010-04-15 23:44:48.830 RubixGL[4203:20b] Next Face 2010-04-15 23:44:48.830 RubixGL[4203:20b] vertex[0][4] x:1.000000 y:1.000000 2010-04-15 23:44:48.832 RubixGL[4203:20b] vertex[1][5] x:1.000000 y:26.000000 2010-04-15 23:44:48.837 RubixGL[4203:20b] vertex[2][6] x:26.000000 y:1.000000 2010-04-15 23:44:48.838 RubixGL[4203:20b] vertex[3][7] x:26.000000 y:26.000000 2010-04-15 23:44:48.848 RubixGL[4203:20b] Next Face 2010-04-15 23:44:48.849 RubixGL[4203:20b] vertex[0][8] x:-26.000000 y:-26.000000 2010-04-15 23:44:48.850 RubixGL[4203:20b] vertex[1][9] x:-26.000000 y:-1.000000 2010-04-15 23:44:48.851 RubixGL[4203:20b] vertex[2][10] x:-1.000000 y:-26.000000 2010-04-15 23:44:48.852 RubixGL[4203:20b] vertex[3][11] x:-1.000000 y:-1.000000 2010-04-15 23:44:48.853 RubixGL[4203:20b] Next Face 2010-04-15 23:44:48.853 RubixGL[4203:20b] vertex[0][12] x:1.000000 y:-26.000000 2010-04-15 23:44:48.854 RubixGL[4203:20b] vertex[1][13] x:1.000000 y:-1.000000 2010-04-15 23:44:48.854 RubixGL[4203:20b] vertex[2][14] x:26.000000 y:-26.000000 2010-04-15 23:44:48.855 RubixGL[4203:20b] vertex[3][15] x:26.000000 y:-1.000000 any ideas?

    i am new to array. Hope you can help me. i have 2 array. Let say: array 1 = [[50,60],[70,80]] array 2 = ["Fire", "Marine"] array 1 index : Array([0]=Array ([0]=50 [1]=60) [1]=Array ([0]=70 [1]=80)) array 2 index : Array ([0]= Fire [1]=Marine) How i can insert array 2 into array 1 like output below : Output that i want like below: array 3 = [["Fire",50,60],["Marine",70,80]] array 3 index = (Array([0]=Array ([0]=Fire [1]=50 [2]=60) [1]=Array ([0]=Marine [1]=70 [2]=80)) Thanks
