  • Android interacting with HTML5 tutorial?

    - by Adam
I've been looking at using a WebView to display an HTML5 webpage, where the novel features of the mobile device (GPS, compass, accelerometer, camera, etc) can be fed back into the web page. I was wondering if there were any good tutorials showing these functions interacting with the webview. So far I've found ways for the WebView to send javascript commands to the web page, but those interactions haven't been triggered from outside the web view (such as upon receiving an intent from the GPS or accelerometer). Note: The HTML5 Geolocation API is not what I'm interested in. I'm interested in the web page <- WebView interactions, as noted here: http://android-developers.blogspot.com/2008/09/using-webviews.html

    - by NightCoder
Hi, I have two tables Employee ID | Name | Department ---------------------- 121 |Name1 | dep1 223 |Name2 | dep2 Assignment ID | EID| --------- 1 |121 2 |223 3 |121 [other columns omitted for brevity] The table assignment indicates which is work is assigned to whom.EID is a foriegn key to the table Employee. Also it is possible to have two work assigned to the same employee. Now i want to create a view like this EID | Assigned -------------- 121 |true 333 |false Assigned column should be calculated based on the entries in the Assignment table. So far i am only successful in creating a view like this EID | Assigned -------------- 121 |2 333 |0 using the command CREATE VIEW "AssignmentView" AS SELECT distinct ID ,(select Count(*) from Assignment where Assignment.EID = Employee.ID) as Assigned FROM Employee; Thanks

  • Problem using FluentNHibernate, SQLite and Enums

    - by weenet
I have a Sharp Architecture based app using Fluent NHibernate with Automapping. I have the following Enum: public enum Topics { AdditionSubtraction = 1, MultiplicationDivision = 2, DecimalsFractions = 3 } and the following Class: public class Strategy : BaseEntity { public virtual string Name { get; set; } public virtual Topics Topic { get; set; } public virtual IList Items { get; set; } } If I create an instance of the class thusly: Strategy s = new Strategy { Name = "Test", Topic = Topics.AdditionSubtraction }; it Saves correctly (thanks to this mapping convention: public class EnumConvention : IPropertyConvention, IPropertyConventionAcceptance { public void Apply(FluentNHibernate.Conventions.Instances.IPropertyInstance instance) { instance.CustomType(instance.Property.PropertyType); } public void Accept(FluentNHibernate.Conventions.AcceptanceCriteria.IAcceptanceCriteria criteria) { criteria.Expect(x = x.Property.PropertyType.IsEnum); } } However, upon retrieval, I get an error regarding an attempt to convert Int64 to Topics. This works fine in SQL Server. Any ideas for a workaround? Thanks.

  • Why dont Android applications provide an "Exit" option?

    - by Howiecamp
Is there something in the Android developer guidelines that disuadea developers from providing the option to "exit" (stop running) an application from within the application itself? I love multitasking and all but it's not clear to me why: the vast majority of apps don't have their own Exit functions and hence just keep running forever don't give you a choice about running when you turn on the phone - they just do by default Both of these things lead to memory usage constantly increasing and your device running with this performance burden all of the time despite the fact that you may only want certain apps to run some of the time. Am I missing something?

  • How to implement Android Pull-to-Refresh

    - by yuku
In Android applications such as Twitter (official app), when you encounter a ListView, you can pull it down (and it will bounce back when released) to refresh the content. I wonder what is the best way, in your opinion, to implement that? Some possibilities I could think of: An item on top of the ListView - however I don't think scrolling back to item position 1 (0-based) with animation on the ListView is an easy task. Another view outside the ListView - but I need to take care of moving the ListView position down when it is pulled, and I'm not sure if we can detect if the drag-touches to the ListView still really scroll the items on the ListView. Any recommendations?

  • Android ndk build mysteriously failing under cygwin with "Error 126"

    - by Jan Hudec
I have a JNI application built by ndk-build (using Android NDK r5b and cygwin make 3.81). The build usually works, by occasionally fails with: ... Compile++ thumb : components <= Component.cpp make: *** [/c/.hudson/jobs/Nightly/workspace/application/obj/local/armeabi/objs/components/Component.o] Error 126 make: Leaving directory `/c/.hudson/jobs/Nightly/workspace/application/obj/local/armeabi/objs/components' There is no other error. Make than exits with status 2. It happens in different file each time (the name above is anonymized). It seems to happen more often with parallel builds, but sometimes happens with non-parallel builds too. Does anybody have an idea what it might be or at least how to debug it?

  • Matching day in datetime field from sqlite

    - by 99miles
In Ruby on Rails I'm doing something like: Appointment.find( :first, :conditions => "staff_id = #{staff_id} AND datetimefield = #{datetime}") ... where datetimefield is of course, a datetime field. But, I only want rows where the date is equal to a given day, say 2/12/2011. I don't care about the time. What's an easy way to do this? Thanks!

  • SQLITE basic syntax

    - by Doori Bar
I seem to misunderstand a basic syntax, why this sample works: sqlite3_prepare_v2(db, "insert into test values('boo','boo',0);", strlen(querystring)+1 , &stmt, NULL); if ((rc = sqlite3_step(stmt)) != SQLITE_DONE) fprintf(stderr, "Error: sqlite3_step() %d. Error Message %s;\n",rc,sqlite3_errmsg(db)); But when I try this query: "insert into test(strtest) values('boo');" I get an error: Error: sqlite3_step() 19. Error Message constraint failed; What am I missing? table test is: "create table test (blobtest BLOB(4) NOT NULL, strtest VARCHAR NOT NULL, inttest INTEGER NOT NULL );" Thanks, Doori Bar

  • SQLite join selection from the same table using reference from another table

    - by daikini
    I have two tables: table: points |key_id | name | x | y | ------------------------ |1 | A |10 |20 | |2 | A_1 |11 |21 | |3 | B |30 |40 | |4 | B_1 |31 |42 | table: pairs |f_key_p1 | f_key_p2 | ---------------------- |1 | 2 | |3 | 4 | Table 'pairs' defines which rows in table 'points' should be paired. How can I query database to select paired rows? My desired query result would be like this: |name_1|x_1|x_2|name_2|x_2|y_2| ------------------------------- |A |10 |20 |A_1 |11 |21 | |B |30 |40 |B_1 |31 |41 |

  • Determine Android phone's proximity to known point while conserving power

    - by ahsteele
I am trying to determine if an Android user has had a close proximity to a list of predetermined locations. I'd like to do this with the least amount of drain on the phone's battery. The two mechanisms I see for accomplishing this are proximity alerts and requesting location updates. What are the pros and cons of the two methods? Will one have less affect on the battery than the other? In either case I would guess the specific location manager used would affect power usage (existing Stack Overflow answer).

  • Need to get 3 record for database on current date using sqlite

    - by Umaid
    SELECT rowid, Day, Advice from MainCategory where ((Day = ((cast(strftime('%d',date('now','-1 day')) as Integer)))) and (Month = (strftime('%m',date('now'))))) and ((Day = ((cast(strftime('%d',date('now')) as Integer)))) and (Month = (strftime('%m',date('now'))))) , ((Day = ((cast(strftime('%d',date('now','+1 day')) as Integer)))) and (Month = (strftime('%m',date('now',+1 month))))); What if i make my Month column in Integer data type then it would be. SELECT rowid, Month, Day, Advice from MainCategory where ((Day = ((cast(strftime('%d',date('now','-1 day')) as Integer)))) and (Month = (strftime('%m',date('now'))))) and ((Day = ((cast(strftime('%d',date('now')) as Integer)))) and (Month = (strftime('%m',date('now'))))) , ((Day = ((cast(strftime('%d',date('now','+1 day')) as Integer)))) and (Month = (strftime('%m',date('now',+1 month))))); Please note that I have over this scenerio when I am in middle of month but below query returns 2 records and 1 from begining from all 11 months as (feb is exclusive) then record will be 33 but i need three 3 records from the table and increment it on next button. Please write 3 querys one which return all three record on current date, next all 3 records must be incremented by 1 on every next button click finally all 3 records must be decremented by 1 on every previous button click keep last day and begining date on the month in minds else i have also achieved for middle of month. Running query but returns 33 records instead of 3. SELECT rowid,Month, Day, Advice from MainCategory where Day in ((cast(strftime('%d',date('now','-1 day')) as Integer)),(cast(strftime('%d',date('now')) as Integer)),(cast(strftime('%d',date('now','+1 day')) as Integer)));

  • Best practice for error handling in an Android Service

    - by Omar Kohl
I have an Android Service that does some background processing on an image using a separate Thread. If an error occurs in this Service or even worse in the thread, what is the best practice to inform the launching Activity of the problem and allow the application to recover to a stable state (i.e. the state it was in before launching the service). From within the Service I could post a Toast or a Notification, but that doesn't help me. I would like to inform the user about the problem but at the same time recover the application to a stable state.

  • sqlite issue using WHERE statement on a varchar field in Objective-C

    - by Geykel
Hi, I have this sql statement SELECT * FROM Language WHERE LanguageCode=? where LanguageCode is a varchar(2). When I use sqlite3-prepare-v2 on that statement I got SQLITE_ERROR but if I use SELECT * FROM Language WHERE LanguageID=? where LanguageID is the primary key numeric identity field the statement compiles just fine. Is there any issue filtering by a varchar field using WHERE statement? Thanks

  • Best way to get an Application Context into a static method in Android

    - by Slapout
I'm working on an Android application that has several Activities. In it I have a class with several static methods. I would like to be able to call these methods from the different Activities. I'm using the static methods to load data from an xml file via a XmlResourceParser. To create a XmlResourceParser requires a call on the Application Context. So my question is, what is the best way to get a reference to the Application Context into the static methods? Have each Activity get it and pass it in? Store it somehow in a global variable?

  • How to replicate CoreData NSFetchedResultController with plain SQLite?

    - by jchatard
I would like to replicate the notification sort of system provided with CoreData NSFetchedResultController which with really little enables us to update a tableView based on events such as Insert/Update/Delete of objects represented as Cells. I'm currently using SQLitePersistentObjects as a Database abstraction layer: http://code.google.com/p/sqlitepersistentobjects/ If you have any idea or something working or at least advices I'd be very happy! • Strange results from OdbcDataReader reading Sqlite DB

    - by stout
    This method returns some strange results, and was wondering if someone could explain why this is happening, and possibly a solution to get my desired results. Results: FileName = what I'd expect FileSize = what I'd expect Buffer = all bytes = 0 BytesRead = 0 BlobString = string of binary data FieldType = BLOB (what I'd expect) ColumnType = System.String Furthermore, if the file is greater than a few KB, the reader throws an exception stating the StringBuilder capacity argument must be greater than zero (presummably because the size is greater than Int32.MaxValue). I guess my question is how does one properly read large BLOBs from an OdbcDataReader? public static String SaveBinaryFile(String Key) { try { Connect(); OdbcCommand Command = new OdbcCommand("SELECT [_filename_],[_filesize_],[_content_] FROM [_sys_content] WHERE [_key_] = '" + Key + "';", Connection); OdbcDataReader Reader = Command.ExecuteReader(CommandBehavior.SequentialAccess); if (Reader.HasRows == false) return null; String FileName = Reader.GetString(0); int FileSize = int.Parse(Reader.GetString(1)); byte[] Buffer = new byte[FileSize]; long BytesRead = Reader.GetBytes(2, 0, Buffer, 0, FileSize); String BlobString = (String)Reader["_content_"]; String FieldType = Reader.GetDataTypeName(2); Type ColumnType = Reader.GetFieldType(2); return null; } catch (Exception ex) { Tools.ErrorHandler.Catch(ex); return null; } }
