    What do I change to switch from production to staging.. etc.. and where.. Bootstrap ? Also, Curious if anyone has configured their Zend Framework to automatically switch from production, staging, test.. etc based on Host information.. example.. if (hostname = 'prodServer') ... blah if (hostname = 'testServer') ... blah I'm new to Zend but I typically configure my projects to automatically switch run environments based on the host information. thanks

  • Retrieving "invalid" value from a NumericUpDown Validating event

    When the user enters a value above numericUpDown.Maximum, the control's value is automatically set to the maximum.     Is there a way to do automatic implicit type conversion in Java? For example, say I have two types, 'FooSet' and 'BarSet' which both are representations of a Set. It is easy to convert between the types, such that I have written two utility methods: /** Given a BarSet, returns a FooSet */ public FooSet barTOfoo(BarSet input) { /* ... */ } /** Given a FooSet, returns a BarSet */ public BarSet fooTObar(FooSet input) { /* ... */ } Now say there's a method like this that I want to call: public void doSomething(FooSet data) { /* .. */ } But all I have is a BarSet myBarSet...it means extra typing, like: doSomething(barTOfoo(myBarSet)); Is there a way to tell the compiler that certain types can automatically be cast to other types? I know this is possible in C++ with overloading, but I can't find a way in Java. I want to just be able to type: doSomething(myBarSet); And the compiler knows to automatically call barTOfoo()

    I'm in the process of writing a python module that includes some samples. These samples aren't unit-tests, and they are too long and complex to be doctests. I'm interested in best practices for automatically checking that these samples run. My current project layout is pretty standard, except that there is an extra top level makefile that has build, install, unittest, coverage and profile targets, that delegate responsibility to setup.py and nose as required. projectname/ Makefile README setup.py samples/ foo-sample foobar-sample projectname/ __init__.py foo.py bar.py tests/ test-foo.py test-bar.py I've considered adding a sampletest module, or adding nose.tools.istest decorators to the entry-point functions of the samples, but for a small number of samples, these solutions sound a bit ugly.   • Web framework for an application utilizing existing database?

    A legacy web application written using PHP and utilizing MySql database needs to be rewritten completely. However, the existing database structure must not be changed at all. I'm looking for suggestions on which framework would be most suitable for this task? Language candidates are Python, PHP, Ruby and Java. According to many sources it might be challenging to utilize rails effectively with existing database. Also I have not found a way to automatically generate models out of the database. With Django it's very easy to generate models automatically. However I'd appreciate first hand experience on its suitability to work with legacy DBs. Also I appreciate suggestions of other frameworks worth considering.

    I have a MSSQL database with many tables and relations. I want to bind it to my C# GUI application with text- and combo-boxes. Which one is the best way to do it: (1) Everything done manually by own classes and methods: Import data to dataset or to many datatables separately, then create dictionaries to comboboxes, manually retrieve data to textboxes and create a sql statement if update action will be invoked, or, (2) Done automatically by VS: Connect my controls with BindingSource and BindingNavigator if needed. I know how to deal with the first one, but if the second way would be better, my question is — how to achieve it? I haven't dealt with automatically created databindings and I don't know how to tell to DataBinding property (Key|Value|Text) about relations and current row's ID. And what is the method to cancel/update changes in all GUI elements? I need a simple solution for this scenario. It's a quick-and-dirty academical project, which must only "work" and be as fast implemented as it can. Thanks

  • I want to port my delicious bookmarks to my website

    I started building a app that will automatically download my delicious bookmarks, and save to a database, so they I can view them on my own website in my favoured format. I am forced to use oAuth, as I have a yahoo id to login to delicious. The problem is I am stuck at the point where oAuth requires a user to manually go and authenticate. Is there a code/ guidelines available anywhere I can follow? All I want is a way to automatically save my bookmarks to my database. Any help is appreciated. I can work on java, .net and php. Thanks.

PointsListView.Items.Refresh (); solves the problem, but why does not work automatically? What am I doing wrong?

    Hi, i've seen many article on encrypt/decrypt of file and typically a button is used to choose the file for encrypt and another button to decrypt the file. i've seen some application like truecrypt and probably others which does file encryption on-the-fly with transparent. this means that when a encrypted file is clicked to access, it will automatically decrypt and play/open the file. then when the file is closed, it will automatically encrypt again. what are the ways to do this in c# compact framework?

  • Retry web service call if authentication failure requires re-login

    I'm consuming a web service from C#, and the web service requires a login call and then uses cookie sessions. The web service will time out sessions after a certain timeframe, after which the client will have to re-login. I'd like to find a way to automatically catch the soap fault the service sends back in this scenario, and handle it by re-logging in and then retrying the previously attempted call. I would prefer to do this somehow automatically for all the web service methods in question, rather than having to manually wrap the calls with the retry logic. Suggestions?

    I can't seem to get inline Javascript indenting properly in Vim. Consider the following: $(document).ready(function() { // Closing brace correctly indented $("input").focus(function() { $(this).closest("li").addClass("cur-focus"); }); // <-- I had to manually unindent this // Closing brace incorrectly indented $("input").blur(function() { $(this).closest("li").removeClass("cur-focus"); }); // <-- This is what it does by default. Argh! }); Vim seems to insist on automatically indenting the closing brace shown in the second case there. It does the same if I re-indent the whole file. How do I get it to automatically indent using the more standard JS indenting style seen in the first case?

I have notice that the syntax is very heavy, every time I modify the source code, I also need to change the comment and I really have the impression to pass too much time modifying the comment for every change I make in the source code. Do you have some tips to document my source code efficiently ? Does some editor (or plugin for existing editor) for doxygen to do the following exist? automatically track unsynchronized code/comment and warn the programmer about it. automatically add doxygen comment format (template with parameter name in it for example) in the source code (template) for every new item PS: I am working on a C/C++ project.

    How do you make VS 2008 automatically install SQL Server CE 3.5 when debugging (F5) a CF app on a windows Mobile 5.0 device? VS used to do this automatically, but now it stopped and I don't know why. I have changed the structure of my solution and the projects, but it is still using SQL Server CE 3.5. It used to also install the Query Analyzer as well which was useful. I frequently uninstall all the programs on the device or do hard reboots so installing this manually is what I am trying to avoid.

  • Using Twitter OAuth for automatic status update

    I want my website to automatically post status updates to a particular twitter account using OAuth in PHP. I test this using a URL www.mysite.com/update_status but it asks me for "user name" and "password", which is fine when I am testing it. But my website will not be able to insert this user name and password before posting the status update. So the question is how can a website which is in the server, automatically post a status update to an account without user filling out the user name and password. Is there any way to bypass this? I tried saving oAuth tokens, but it's not working. Thank you for your answer in advance!

    Hi everyone, I'm trying to associate a variable with a Tkinter entry widget, in a way that: Whenever I change the value (the "content") of the entry, mainly by typing something into it, the variable automatically gets assigned the value of what I've typed. Without me having to push a button "Update value " or something like that first. Whenever the variable gets changed (by some other part of the programm), I want the entry value displayed to be adjusted automatically. I believe that this could work via the textvariable. I read the example on http://effbot.org/tkinterbook/entry.htm, but it is not exactly helping me for what I have in mind. I have a feeling that there is a way of ensuring the first condition with using entry's "validate". Any ideas? Thank you for your input! Sano

    I'm struggling with writing a python script that automatically grabs the zip fail containing all my google calendars and stores it (as a backup) on my harddisk. I'm using ClientLogin to get an authentication token (and successfully can obtain the token). Unfortunately, i'm unable to retrieve the file at https://www.google.com/calendar/exporticalzip It always asks me for the login credentials again by returning a login page as html (instead of the zip). Here's the critical code: post_data = post_data = urllib.urlencode({ 'auth': token, 'continue': zip_url}) request = urllib2.Request('https://www.google.com/calendar', post_data, header) try: f = urllib2.urlopen(request) result = f.read() except: print "Error" Anyone any ideas or done that before?     When I define the User has_many meetings, it automatically creates a "user_id" key/value pair to relate to the User collections. Except I can't run any mongo_mapper finds using this value, without it returning nil or [].
