• How do I modify the noacpi option?

  I am new to ubuntu and have stared using it since a week. I installed ubuntu server 11.10 on a VM created using VMWare player. Once installed, i tried to install ubuntu desktop using sudo apt-get install --no-install-recommends ubuntu-desktop Now I am unable to boot and i get the following error *PulseAudio configured per-user session After this, nothing happens and the ubuntu server does not boot. I read in another Q&A, the same problem and the solution. Just Installed a CLI system then ubuntu-desktop, does not boot automatically My question is how to modify noacpi option. How do i get into the boot for the ubuntu server? I have read on the net that by hitting the shift button, we can get into the boot options. I tried that, but no success, probably since i am running ubuntu on VMWare Player. Please guide me on how to solve this problem

• Deploying Asp.net MVC web application [migrated]

  I have been trying to find a neat tutorial, guide or step by step instructions for deploying an Asp.net MVC3 webapp but have found nothing so far. Everyone talks about his version of the stroy and different type of MVC versions. Right now, I have build a simple Asp.net MVC web application which i need to deploy on my shared hosting account. In a very simple manner, I need to know which files should i copy. Do i upload everything in my webproject directory to the server including the controller directory, views, models, content and bin directory ?. What about the Global.asax, web.config, packages.config, myapp.publish.xml. In short, I have no idea which files should be uploaded and which should be not. I am sure of one thing that i need few(MVC and Razor dlls) following dlls in bin directory. Just treat me as someone who has never deployed any website NOTE:- I don't have VS SP1 installed and it doesn't install either. Basically i need a manual procedure.

  We are planning to develop a JavaScript API to expose some of our J2EE based services. We are doing this keeping Google Maps API in mind. Can someone please suggested where we should start and the approaches that we need to follow to create a useful and extensible JavaScript API? These are the things that we are considering to achieve. It should be very simple for others to use our API. We feel Google Maps API is like that. We should be able to release the updates of the APIs without affecting the existing implementations. We should have enough security measures so that not all can use these services. Please suggest us if there are any books that can guide us through. Any suggestion will be greatly helpful for us.   I know, this has been asked a few times already but I'm still having troubles to get files copied my new Nexus 4 phone mounted on my Kubuntu 13.04 machine.   I'm actually trying GateIn for my firm and I don't manage to integrate OpenAM and GateIn. I follow all the steps in the GateInReference Guide but I've a problem. The scenarii of the problem is : Go to localhost:8080/portal Click sur Administrator I'm redirected to : openam.vauban.com:2080/openam_s952/UI/Login?realm=gatein&goto=http://localhost:8080/portal/private/classic I filled in the form with root / gtn I'm redirected to localhost:8080/portal/private/classic and the page is blank and the main fact is : The system seems to redirect me to this page infinitely.. Does Someone know an issue for this infinite loop? For information, I configured my OpenAM : Yo encode the cookies, use c66encode.

• Are there any OpenGL ES 2.0 examples for JOGL?

  I've scoured the internet for the last few hours looking for an example of how to run even the most basic OpenGL ES 2 example using JOGL but "by Jupiter!" it has been a total fail. I tried converting the android example from the OpenGL ES 2.0 Programming Guide examples (and at the same time looking at the WebGL example -- which worked fine) yet without any success. Are there any examples out there? If anyone else wants some extra help regarding this question see this thread on the official Jogamp forum.

I have started learning Lua and I have researched many tutorials, but all of them only cover basic operations and language features and capabilities. They feel more like a reference doc than a programmer's guide. Now, when trying to work with day to day tasks, how does one go through most common design patterns like observer, or multithreaded programming, creating UI elements and polling system calls for keyboard or sensors? • After running updates in 10.10 Netbook Remix, Ralink 5390 Not working

  Additional Drivers still lists the driver. Reports it as being activated but not in use. Prior to running updates, wireless was working fine. Set it up using this guide: http://www.upubuntu.com/2012/02/how-to-install-drivers-for-ralink.html Thoughts and reflections would be much appreciated. ... nm. Using Synaptic Package Manager, marked for reinstallation, reinstalled, rebooted. Back to the way things were. Little new to this side of the world. ;)

  I use Ubuntu 12.04. Today I tried to burn an ISO file in a DVD-R disk using K3b. It used to work, but today, after one and a half minutes, it stopped saying that "cdrecord has no permission to open the device". I searched for a solution, and I found that I had to do something with k3bsetup. I tried to use it, but I had no idea what to do, and I couldn't find a guide, so I checked cdrecord and clicked apply. Now there is another error; it says "cdrecord returns an unknown error! (code 254)". What should I do?

• Question about mod_rewrite rule for redirecting failing pages

  I'm setting up a mod_rewrite rule that redirects failing pages to a custom Page Not Found page. This is with Wordpress. I'm using the guide here: http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/rewrite/rewrite_guide_advanced.html#redirect404. My rule so far looks like this: RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteRule ^(.+) http://example.com/?page_id=254 [R] This works. It seems to be a combination of the first and second suggestion that worked, since the -U flag did nothing. My question is, out of curiosity why the following happens: When I change REQUEST_FILENAME to REQUEST_URI (as the second example suggests), the page loads, but none of the style sheets load. All of my formatting is gone, and this happens on every page. Can anyone think of why this might happen?

• Mobile broadband not connect without unplug and plug

  I have recently installed ubuntu 13.10 and I am still very new in this operating system. My problem is that when I start my computer, it detects all the wifi connections around but not my mobile broadband usb connection (huwaie). I dont get any mobile broadband section automatically. I have to unplug and then plug my broadband usb to connect and have mobile broadband section available. I dont like to unplug and then plug my device always as it will loose my laptop and I always want to be plug in laptop even in shutdown. I always want to auto detect my usb broadband by ubuntu. • No sound in any web browser(s)

  Hello I recently tried to compile and update alsa from source via this guide http://www.stchman.com/alsa_update.html. Afterwards the sound in any web browser I open Firefox, Opera, Chrome, Chromium, Iron there is no sound on any pages. I went back through the script listed on the site and found where it had installed the drivers and deleted it and than re-installed alsa via synaptic. Though I still have no sound in my browser(s). All system sounds work as they are supposed to only web sounds don't work. Here is my alsabase.conf http://paste.ubuntu.com/1073135/ also a snapshot of alsamixer Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank You and let me know if any more information is required.

• For some reason I can't get ATI FGLRX Drivers to support 3D acceleration on Ubuntu 12.04

  I have an ATI 5650m and I've had 0 issues with 3D Acceleration in the past. I had to reinstall Ubuntu entirely, and now with the 12.6 drivers I get - One or more tools required for installation cannot be found on the system I can't seem to solve this issue. I installed the FGLRX drivers through the "alternate command line" guide on the Ubuntu Wiki including the instructions for getting 3D support. They seem to install but I get an error with vainfo libva: VA-API version 0.32.0 Xlib: extension "XFree86-DRI" missing on display ":0.0". libva: va_getDriverName() returns 0 libva: Trying to open /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/fglrx_drv_video.so libva error: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/fglrx_drv_video.so init failed libva: va_openDriver() returns -1 vaInitialize failed with error code -1 (unknown libva error),exit I have tried help here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2014440 It's a bit frustrating as I can do basically nothing without 3D support.
