• How to deal with OOP design problems in interviews?

  This is a question where I seek guidance from fellow/senior developers to get into my dream company - it's a pioneer in OOP and Agile. I've already failed once to clear an interview. One part I feel most challenging is to come up with a proper Object Oriented design(classes, interfaces, methods, interactions etc.) in a very short time for certain situations like Pacman, Game Of Life and so on. As the problems are unprecedented ones - my approach is mostly to try different things and then make decisions - which they feel is not clear and not what they expect from a developer with 5+ years of experience. I've already studied a few books on patterns, OOP - it didn't help me much and I think it'll take a bit more than that. Could some one please guide on what specifically shall I practice so that I can do better at design problems as above. I want to refine my approach and have a better thought process.

• Site loads Extremely slowly over HTTPS; loads perfectly over HTTP - Sudden and new issue

  My business' website suddenly started loading extremely slowly over HTTPS last night and continues through today. The facts: Page loadtime via HTTPS - 2 minutes +, HTTP - 3 seconds max. NO updates were done on any site files in the past 2 weeks. This is on Shared Hosting HTTPS has worked perfectly over the past 9 months then suddenly failed yesterday. Hosting company and SSL issuer say there are no problems on their end. - Searches for others having similar issues return no results, it appears to be just me... Site is primarily run via php/mysql Currently attempted troubleshooting: Tried all major browsers and different versions - same result. Tried 2 separate ISPs - same result. Tried proxies - same result. Tried 3 separate computers - same result. I'm basically at a total loss here. Does anyone know what could cause such a thing to happen? Please help guide troubleshooting.

  I uses a lots of Google Apps Product in my Laptop, Tablet and Mobile. Since I never use all pre-installed software in Ubuntu, can I remove it? E.g like: LibreOffice | I use Google Doc etc. RhythmBox | I use Google Play Music Thunderbird | I use Gmail, don't like client Videos | Watch online Messaging | Hangouts And other softwares like Remmina Client, BitTorrent Client. Can I simply remove it in Ubuntu Software Centre? I like my Laptop clean and having unmessy software that I never use. I normally use Chromium Browser to do all the stuff, I think I am heavy user of Google, and love the simplicity of Ubuntu. Lol! Can anyone tell or guide me? Thanks!

  Per the Linux kernel coding style document: The answer to that is that if you need more than 3 levels of indentation, you're screwed anyway, and should fix your program. What can I deduce from this quote? On top of the fact that too long methods are hard to maintain, are they hard or impossible to optimize for the compiler? I don't really understand if this quote encourages better coding practice or is really a mathematical / algorithmic sort of truth. I also read in some C++ optimizing guide that "dividing up a program into more functions improves its design" is frequently taught in CS courses, but it should be not done too much, since it can turn into a lot of JMP calls (even if the compiler can inline some methods by itself).

  I have a dual graphics card: intel 4000 and nvidia 630m... I installed bumblebee and intel drivers from their website. I thought the brightness problem will be solved by installing these drivers. But, brightness works only for two steps: that is, dim, medium, high... But, it doesn't increase step wise. Can you please help me sort this problem?   I am building a social bookmarking service that is monetized in part by Google Adsense. However, I don't know how to influence how the ads are displayed. I think Google scans my pages and decides itself which ads to show where. Navigation on my site is mainly based on the selection of categories or tags being provided by the users. So after a user filters a list of bookmarks by the tag "SEO", I think I know pretty well what he is looking for. So I am looking for a service that allows me to show contextual ads for these particular keywords. How I can guide Google to show relevant ads? I got a problem here in upgradation when I upgraded my Ubuntu 11.10 version to 12.04.There were many errors too while installing upgrades.. The package got broken. After restarting the computer,It should appear Ubuntu 12.04,even here It is appearing ubuntu 11.10 with four dots just moving one by one and does not proceeds further,hangs here!! • How to setup complete file access and control on a network

  I have a media server running ubuntu 12.04 and I want it setup so that any PC on the network (windows etc) has complete access to all files, folders etc with read, write, edit, copy to, copy from permissions. No need for security (IE no password or user name, just select it on the network and start editing). I have samba installed and personal file sharing is enabled but my windows PC cannot see it on the network. I already set up another server as I described but unfortunately I can't remember how or where I found the guides for it. Any on know of a guide that covers what I want?

  I have downloaded an ISO file of UBANTU 12.10 x86 from the official website (www.ubantu.com). When I tried to install it everything was going good till I got the error message something like "the media you are using is probably currupt or you have an hard disk error . It did't told me what to do. I am already running WINDOW 7 ultimate in my pc and it is running fine i have tested my hard disk for error and no errors was found by "system mechanic pro 11" . after that i tried to install my WINDOW 7 on the same partition and it was successful . Even now I am unable to install UBANTU. It is my first experience with UBANTU so I don't know what to do. please guide me . my email is [email protected]

  I think the title is quite self-explaining, still this is a big area I think, so let me drop a few words: I've got a simple experiment game project going, and I want to make sure, that the user isn't messing with the game assets like player skin etc. In my opinion the best way would be that on production I would merge all the assets into one file and the application would check the hash of that file, so it could detect the corrupted data.   I'm a newbie developer on WebTrends Analytics, although I have worked extensively on Adobe SiteCatalyst. Currently I want to integrate WebTrends with the web pages of a local project on my local JBoss EAP application server, so that I can run it locally and see how WebTrends work, along with how the Analytics reports show up. Later on, I may customize the reports data as per the project requirements. However, I can't find anywhere how I can start working on a local development process using a DEV account access. I'm mainly trying to get data on number of user visits per day, as of now, which will cater to multichannel experience.   The iPad programming guide says I have to include the UIDeviceFamily key in Info.plist. It also says that the transitioning a target to iPad should have added the key. It didn't. I tried creating blank projects, both iPad-only and universal, and neither got that key. Google comes up short too. What's the story on this mysterious key? The simulator doesn't mind the fact it's missing.

  Hi, The iPad programming guide says that the splitView's left pane is fixed to 320 points. But 320 pixels for my master view controller is too much. I would like to reduce it and give more space to detail view controller. Is it possible by anyway?
