• Cisco PIX firewall blocking inbound Exchange email

  [Cisco PIX, SBS2003] I can telnet server port 25 from inside but not outside, hence all inbound email is blocked. • Rendering a WPF Network Map/Graph layout - Manual? PathListBox? Something Else?

  I'm writing code to present the user with a simplified network map. At any given time, the map is focused on a specific item... say a router or a server. Based on the focused item, other network entities are grouped into sets (i.e. subnets or domains) and then rendered around the focused item. Lines would represent connections and groups would be visually grouped inside a rectangle or ellipse. Panning and zooming are required features. An item can be selected to display more information in a "properties" style window. An item could also be double-clicked to re-focus the entire network map on that item. At that point, the entire map would be re-calculated. I am using MVVM without any framework, as of yet. Assume the logic for grouping items and determining what should be shown or not is all in place. I'm looking for the best way to approach the UI layout. So far, I'm aware of the following options: Use a canvas for layout (inside a ScrollViewer to handle the panning). Have my ViewModel make use of a Layout Manager type of class, which would handle assigning all the layout properties (Top, Left, etc.). Bind my set of display items to an ItemsControl and use Data Templates to handle the actual rendering. The drawbacks with this approach: Highly manual layout on my part. Lots of calculation. I have to handle item selection manually. Computation of connecting lines is manual. The Pros of this approach: I can draw additional lines between child subnets as appropriate (manually). Additional LayoutManagers could be added later to render the display differently. This could probably be wrapped up into some sort of a GraphLayout control to be re-used. Present the focused item at the center of the display and then use a PathListBox for layout of the additional items. Have my ViewModel expose a simple list of things to be drawn and bind them to the PathListBox. Override the ListBoxItem Template to also create a line geometry from the borders of the focused item (tricky) to the bound item. Use DataTemplates to handle the case where the item being bound is a subnet, in which case we would use another PathListBox in the template to display items inside the subnet. The drawbacks with this approach: Selected Item synchronization across multiple `PathListBox`es. Only one item on the whole graph can be selected at a time, but each child PathListBox maintains its own selection. Also, subnets cannot be selected, but would be selectable without additional work. Drawing the connecting lines is going to be a bit of trickery in the ListBoxItem template, since I need to know the correct side of the focused item to connect to. The pros of this approach: I get to stay out of the layout business, more. I'm looking for any advice or thoughts from others who have encountered similar issues or who have more WPF experience than I. I'm using WPF 4, so any new tricks are legal and encouraged.

  I am basically populating a map with polygons, I am using the flex sdk. The problem I am having is that each time it adds a parish it keep adding to the previous polygons and treating it as one. • Removing google mail markers with jquery after getting them from xml

  Hi there, I'm trying to create a page that contains a google map. The map is filled with markers from an xml file. I just can't figure out how to remove "old" markers, that don't match the latest user input. At the moment my js stops after the very first xml item. The clearList.push(marker); is supposed to put the generated marker away for later usage. When the user hits the search button I want all markers to be gone and use clearMarkers();. • fitbounds() in Google maps api V3 does not fit bounds

  hi, I'm using the geocoder from Google API v3 to display a map of a country. I get the recommended viewport for the country but when I want to fit the map to this viewport, it does not work (see the bounds before and after calling the fitBounds function in the code below). What am I doing wrong? • MKMapView - viewForAnnotation not called while loading more results

  I have a search enabled map view. When user hits search, my custom annotations are added to the map view. The search returns 20 results with a 'load more' link. When I hit load more, more annotations should be added to map view. The problem is - annotations gets added to the map view but is not displayed on the map. If I zoom in or zoom out to change the map region, the pins are shown. I find that viewForAnnotations: is not getting called when i hit 'load more'. I am not sure how to trigger this. any one?

• iPad Simulator WebView/Google Maps API Issue

  I've only recently updated XCode to 3.2.2 and started to play with the iPad simulator. I am having an issue with a WebView. I am using it to load a url with a Google Maps API implementation. The map loads and displays properly but when I try and click and drag on it to pan the map around instead of the map being panned the whole webview is scrolled vertically, revealing the dark grey background. When I release it it bounces back into place. Also when I hold the option key down to pinch the map it does not respond. If I load the map.google.com page the map pans just fine and is responsive, but not my one. No special code here, just the usual NSUrlRequest. It works fine in the iPhone simulator, but not the iPad simulator. User Interaction Enabled is also checked. Any thoughts on why this is happening?

  I'm attempting to add some text to the directions results the Google Maps API returns to the specified div (directionsPanel). This code below would work fine, except that the jQuery line fires before loadFromWaypoints has finished modifying the DOM. If I run that line by manually triggering it after the directions content has finished loading, it executes as expected. directions = new GDirections(map, directionsPanel); directions.loadFromWaypoints(waypoints); $("td[@jscontent='address']").append(" some content"); How can I add some sort of listener (on perhaps either the loadFromWaypoints callback function or the directionsPanel div itself) to execute my jQuery line after the DOM has finished reloading?

• Converting from Latitude/Longitude to Cartesian Coordinates with a World File and map image.

  I have a java applet that allows users to import a jpeg and world file from the local system. The user can then "click" draw lines on the image that was imported. Each endpoint of each line contains a set of X/Y and Lat/Long values. The XY is standard java coordinate space, the applet uses an affine transform calculation with the world file to determine the lat/long for every point on the canvas. I have a requirement that allows a user to type a distance into a text field and use the arrow key to draw a line in a certain direction (Up, Down, Left, Right) from a single selected point on the screen. I know how to determine the lat/long of a point given a source lat/long, distance, and bearing. So a user types "100" in the text field and presses the Right arrow key a line should be drawn 100 feet to the right from the currently selected point. My issue is I don't know how to convert the distance( which is in feet ) into the distance in pixels. This would then tell my where to plot the point.

When I first load the map the zoom_changed method is invoked.   Hi, I have a php class that generates a map image depending on my db data. It is periodically updated thru a serInterval loop. I am trying to update it with no flickering but I just can't. I would prefer an inmediate swap insteado of a fade. The problem I'm having is that after calling updatemap() the image just dissapears. ¿Maybe it is a problem with the attribute src I am parsing?   In my java coding, I often end up with several Map<String,Map<String,foo>> or Map<String,List<String>> and then I have trouble remembering which String is which key. I comment the declaration with //Map<capabiltyId,Map<groupId,foo>> or //Map<groupId,List<capabilityId>, but it's not the greatest solution. If String wasn't final, I would make new classes CapabilityId extends String and GroupId extends String, but I can't. Is there a better way to keep track of which thing is the key and maybe have the compiler enforce it?

  I have question about a basic xml file I'm parsing and just putting in simple nextlines(Enters). I'll try to explain my problem with this next example. I'm( still) building an xml tree and all it has to do ( this is a testtree ) is put the summary in an itemlist. I then export it to a plist so I can see if everything is done correctly.
