  I have a table a with a list of id's, and a user-defined function foo(id) that takes the id and returns a VARCHAR(20). What I am trying to do is: SELECT id, foo(id) AS 'text field' FROM a However, instead of calling the function for each ID number, like I desired, the text comes back the same for every row. I have tested the foo() function manually with the returned ID's and it does not have that problem, so I realize I must not understand something about the evaluation of the query.

  Hi, I am working on an application in which i need to store all the NSObject subclass properties into plist file and then allow users to store it and restore it. We call it profile and it can restore the saved state of all the controls/views on the window in my application. I have completed the storing/Restoring part, but the issue is when i am updating the class properties manually, it is not updating the control state Like checkboxs and others which is bind with the class property. Please let me know how can i update the controls state, if its KVC/KVO updated programatically. Thanks in advance

  Hi All, I am working on upgrading a web app to asp.net 2 from 1. VS 2008 did its conversion things, and everything is building successfully and has been converted to a web application via the appropriate menu item in VS 2008. On launching the site using the Asp.net development server I am receiving a configuration error on the appsettings line in the machine config of Unrecognized attribute 'restartOnExternalChanges'. The app targets asp.net 2 in the projects properties in VS, and the error page indicates similar : Version Information: Microsoft .NET Framework Version:2.0.50727.3053; ASP.NET Version:2.0.50727.3053 The error message seems to indicate I am trying to run this in an asp.net 1 environment, but surely that isnt the case, and if so how do I rectify this.   Hi We have a concrete singleton service which implements Ninject.IInitializable and 2 interfaces. Problem is that services Initialize-methdod is called 2 times, when only one is desired. We are using .NET 3.5 and Ninject 2.0.0.0. Is there a pattern in Ninject prevent this from happening. Neither of the interfaces implement Ninject.IInitializable. the service class is: public class ConcreteService : IService1, IService2, Ninject.IInitializable { public void Initialize() { // This is called twice! } } And module looks like this: public class ServiceModule : NinjectModule { public override void Load() { this.Singleton<Iservice1, Iservice2, ConcreteService>(); } } where Singleton is an extension method defined like this: public static void Singleton<K, T>(this NinjectModule module) where T : K { module.Bind<K>().To<T>().InSingletonScope(); } public static void Singleton<K, L, T>(this NinjectModule module) where T : K, L { Singleton<K, T>(module); module.Bind<L>().ToMethod(n => n.Kernel.Get<T>()); } Of course we could add bool initialized-member to ConcreteService and initialize only when it is false, but it seems quite a bit of a hack. And it would require repeating the same logic in every service that implements two or more interfaces. Thanks for all the answers! I learned something from all of them! We ended up creating IActivable interface and extending ninject kernel (it also removed nicely code level dependencies to ninject, allthough attributes still remain).

  Hello people, I am really confused right now and I can't get any right answers anywhere. My confusions are: 1) Isn't wsHttpBinging (which is beefed up basicHttpBinding) used in SOAP instead of REST and REST only uses webHttpBinding? 2) Also, DOES silverlight 4 with WCF (REST) support wsHttpBinding (VS2010)? I read that it does not everywhere on the net but I some how got silverlight 4 working with REST using wsHttpBinding. NOTE: I am using Factory="System.ServiceModel.Activation.WebServiceHostFactory". Is this factory setting somehow bypassing my web.config setting for wsHttpBinding to make it work with webHttpBinding and i am thinking by my wsHttpBinding is working? Thank you.

This was very surprising to me and could be a big problem in situations where you deploy new versions of a library without recompiling applications. Does anyone else have experience with this? Are there any good solutions? This makes it tempting to add empty overrides that just calls base in case I need to add some code at that level in the future...

  I have a question about session timeouts and JSF 2. I have my exception handler working exactly the way everyone prefers but I need to pass a value to the login page. For example, I have a typical login URL - www.acme.com/?companyId=company14 which in turn presents company14 with their own custom login page (using their logo). After they enter the application and do a bit of work, they read an email or 2. The session times out and a session timeout page is shown instructing the user to click Ok to proceed to the login page. How do I add ?companyId=company14 to the URL? I can hardcode it in the exception handler by using this: requestMap.put("companyId", "company14"); and then referring to it on the viewExpired.xhtml page: <h:panelGrid id="expiredGrid" columns="1"> <f:facet name="header"> <h:outputText id="outExpireMsg" value="Your session has expired"/> </f:facet> <h:outputText id="outReqMessage" value="Reloading the page will require login."/> <h:outputText value=""/> <h:button id="okButton" type="submit" value="Ok" outcome="login?companyId=#{companyId}"/> </h:panelGrid> The issue is I can't seem to save the companyId anywhere without it getting wiped out by the session timeout. I'd like to set the companyId in the exceptionhandler using this value. Any ideas?

  I have some messages in my queue. Now I notice that after 3 tries the service host faults. Is this a normal behavior? Where does the 3 times comes from? I thought it came from receiveRetryCount. But I set that one to 1. I got 20 messages in my queue waiting to be processed. The WCF operation that is responsible to process the message supports transaction so if it can't process the message it will throw so that the message stays in the queue. I didn't think that it would of Fault the ServiceHost after a number of retry, is this part documented somewhere? I'm running MSMQ service on my winxp machine. I'm more interested in documentation indicating that the service host will fault after a number of retry. Is this part true?

  Given the following route Route::get('groups/(:any)', array('as' => 'group', 'uses' => 'groups@show')); And the URL I would like to use, http://www.example.com/groups/1 I would like to be able to use the (:any) value in my controller. My controller looks like class Groups_Controller extends Base_Controller { public $restful = true; public function get_show($groupID) { return 'I am group id ' . $groupID; } } How is this possible to do? I have tried a few things including the following Route::get('groups/(:any)', array('as' => 'group', 'uses' => 'groups@show((:1))')); but it did not work. UPDATE Anytime I try to pass in the arguments as show above i get a 404 error. Thanks for the help!

  I have an ASP page which displays a text box when it loads. It takes an input number, send it to the server through post back, and then displays some record in a grid view. After a number is input into the box, the server fetches some data from a database and add records to the grid view. It also contains a link column, whose URL is set to "#", so that the page isn't redirected when it is clicked. Now I want to bind a jquery "click" event to that link. How can I do that ? I have tried that to do myself but failed, because it is not available when the DOM is loaded (since it only contains rows when a number is input through the box), and is being modified through ASP.NET Ajax post back.

  Hello in my application I have a NSTableView bound to an ArrayController (arrangedObjects). I also have a Details-View (just some textfields) bound to the same Controller (selection). Now every time I edit a textfield the changes are automatically send to the ArrayController and the Table changes as well. How can I avoid this? What I want is a "Submit-Button". Changes on the data should only be send to the controller when I press the button and not automatically every time I do an edit.

  Hi, I've been using C# for a while and began a program now to learn WPF-which means I know almost nothing of it. I used this tutorial as a guide to do what I wanted to do (which is binding a database to a datagrid), after a hard struggle to add the adapter as the source of the datagrid I now want to enable editing with validation on some of the cells. My problem is that the data is sent straight from the adapter and not through an object collection (I had a hard time getting to this situation, see the first half of the tutorial on how to bind the adapter and dataset through the resources) but the tutorial doesn't show a way to validate the datagrid if the data is sent through an adapter-only through a collection. To make it clear-how do I validate input in a datagrid that is bound to an adapter through a resource?
