  I have a client who lectures, and wants to sell spots to his lecture online. I would preferably like to set him up with a solution that allows me to collect billing information on his site. My experience with e-commerce is in using solutions like Authorize.net, however this does not seem cost effective since I can't imagine he's making a huge profit off of this. I'm afraid he would lose money in the cost of using Authorize.net (or any payment gateway for the matter). I could use google checkout or paypal express, but this would require me to leave his site (although with google checkout, it looks like, from a glance, that I could just submit to their form from my server, and likely with paypal as well, but I don't know if this is against their TOS). What is the most cost-effective solution for accepting credit card payments in this situation?

• Preventing Spoofing with Paypal

  I have a scenario where i need to have a user checkout through PayPal and then once we receive the payment then we create a membership record in our membership site. The PayPal requires a "return" field when you submit the form button that will take the user back to our page once the order has been successfully processed. On that page is where we actually track the sale and fire a chunk of javascript to track the sale. So my question is this, how can i make sure that the return page comes from PayPal and is not spoofed by a user in the system. I know there is a way to use the notify_url to have PayPal post back to our system, but in this case i have to run a chunk of javascript. Is there an easy way to do this, or would i have to write some looping/timeout function that checks to see if the notify post has come through? Im using .net to do the posting to paypal

My requirement is A user selects a category, based on category course is populated,user selects course and discount. I want the user to pay through paypal according to the course selected. Also the data should be inserted into a table after successfull payment. I have checked sample code also but i am unable to figure out how to accomplish this task ie how to make it dynamic according to the user choice. I think ipn would be used but not sure. Before the payment procedure I'll ask their domain names in my web site, I'll store the data in the cookies or the url, then I want to pass the data (domain name) to the PayPal so that I'll know who paid for what domain name. • Inheritance vs specific types in Financial Modelling for cashflows

  Hello, I have to program some financial applications where I have to represent a schedule of flows. The flows can be of 3 types: - fee flow (just a lump payment at some date) - floating rate flow (the flow is dependant of an interest rate to be determined at a later date) - fixed rate flow (the flow is dependant of an interest rate determined when the deal is done) I need to keep the whole information and I need to represent a schedule of these flows. Originally I wanted to use inheritance and create three classes FeeFlow, FloatingFlow, FixedFlow all inheriting from ICashFlow and implement some method GetFlowType() returning an enum then I could dynamic_cast the object to the correct type. That would allow me to have only one vector to represent my schedule. What do you think of this design, should I rather use three vectors vector, vector and vector to avoid the dynamic casts ?

  I read the Wikipedia articles on FactoryMethod and AbstractFactory but the following code doesn't seem to fit anywhere. I've come to an agreement with another client to use some of the sites scripting to build a site for them. But, now the original client wants their site too. I have made a deal to licence the reused parts of the site (some jQuery scripts and a dynamic flash gallery) rather than me signing over full copyright. However, I haven't got a clue how to do this. • PHP Session Id changes between pages

  Hi All, I have a problem where i am losing the PHP session between 2 pages. The session_start() is included in a file called session-inc.php into every page requiring a session to be set. This works for all pages on the site except one particular page, member-profile.php. When this page is visited a new session with a different id (same session name) is set and used instead. A few more details: Session name is set manually All pages are on the same server under the same domain name If i put an additional session_start() above the include('session-inc.php') in the member-profile.php file, the session is carried over correctly I have tried setting the session_cookie_domain and session.session_name in the .htaccess, this worked for this domain but it stopped the session being passed over to out payment domain We are running apache 2.2.6 with php 5.2.5 Putting the session_start() above the include('session-inc.php') in the member-profile.php file is the quick and dirty fix for this problem, but i am wondering if anybody know why this would be happening.   I'm running an classified ads website and I'm charging a specific fee for each ad placed. As you may know paypal charges a specific percent for each transaction + a specific amount fee (e.g 2,9% + 0.30 cents) . I have customers who place about 30 ads per month therefore I would like to integrate a schema that would cut the specific amount fee . Basically I'm looking to make "pre-approve" call every time after the client place an ad to make sure that he has the money to pay and at the end of the month to cancel all the scheduled pre-approved transactions and make a single payment request with the whole amount. The question that I have is : Will I be charged for the pre-approved transactions that I cancel ?

  Hello There, I'm trying to figure out where I could drop in some PHP code to notify a CRM we are using (Solve360) that a new order has been placed, and that an event should be created (API) to fulfill the order. Order Product Checkout Complete Checkout & Capture CC Side notify CRM Done Not sure where to start, but I have had to make some small tweaks to fix the Quantum Gateway payment processor to work. In that module it appears that the objects for the order (email, amt, details) were available. However it seems it would be quite 'dirty' to insert more PHP code in there. Ideas? • MYSQL how to ignore a table in a 3 table query if it doesnt satisfy the statement

Well the problem is sometimes the cheque might not have any information in it. So how do i get MYSQL to ignore that table and still continue displaying the rest of the information? thanks!

• Should I be worried about sending Apk to client before getting paid?

  I am working on an Android app for a client. The app is practically finished, and next week I'll have a meeting with the client to present it. He'll test everything, and upon approving it he will make the payment and I'll give him the source code and publish it on Google Play. Today he called me asking for the Apk so that he can start testing it. I am worried that if we don't close the deal (for one reason or another) he might get someone to reverse engineer the Apk and get my source code/app anyway, even if obfuscated with ProGuard (I never tried, but according to this SO thread it's not that difficult to reverse engineer an Apk). My question: Am I being paranoid here and should just send the client the Apk (cause perhaps the ProGuard obfuscation is enough to make the source code useless) , or are my worries reasonable and I should stick to getting paid before delivering anything?

So can I start with old site and change the html and code behind ? Some people argue that it is better to use MVC for ecommerce site. Any good reasons ?   I’m having a lot of trouble understanding how to create a module that will add an extra button to the shopping cart page. I found lots of info on payment modules and stand-a-lone page modules, but nothing for this. I simply need to add a button underneath the regular “Checkout” button that can post item data to another website. I’ve created a module but can’t get Magento to recognize it and display the button on that spot. • Local variable not being passed to partial template by render?

  I don't seem to be able to pass a variable to my partial template in rails (2.3.5). My code is as follows; In the main view .html.erb file: <% f.fields_for :payments do |payment_form| %> <%= render 'payment', {:f => payment_form, :t => "test" } %> <% end %> and in the _payment.html.erb file: <%= t %> produces a wrong number of arguments (0 for 1) error. The payment_form object is being passed to the partial as f without any problems. I've tried a number of variations on the above syntax (e.g. :locals => {:f => payment_form, :t => "test" } without success. I presume I'm doing something pretty basic wrong but just can't see it.

  I found here that Magento is using these tags as custom config variables, but I still cannot understand where are they used and how. For example the Wishlist module has wishlist (same name as the module) xml tag in the config.xml file in which it defines: <item> <product_attributes> <visibility/> <url_path/> <url_key/> </product_attributes> </item> Where is this module using these configurations? Also if I was to build payment method, I have to add in my custom module config.xml a tag for sales and then for quote and so on... I also found other related questions, but most of the answers were that these tags can be anything, but I need to know how they are used by the system. Thank you in advance

  I understand it is possible to sell the same application both in the market and outside it, great. I still don't understand a few things, that AFAIK are not mentioned in the contract but I might have missed or misunderstood something, so I'm going to ask. Disclaimer: I know you're not a lawyer, etc. etc. Let's say I give in the market a demo version, and I sell in the market the full version too. May I also sell the full version outside the market? I understand that you can't give away the demo in the market and then collect the payment outside, but what if I do allow the user to buy it in the market, but also allow him to buy outside the market? What if I charge a lower price if he buys outside the market?

  I have one asp.net web application, but two different domains point to this web app. For instance: www.one.com and www.two.com both point to the same web app. I have an issue where I need certain pages to be on a specific domain (due to some security requirements from our online payment provider - a third party website). So let's say page1.aspx needs to be called on www.two.com The process is as follows: A user logs into www.one.com The authentication cookie is saved to the browser The user then navigates to page1.aspx and, if on the wrong domain, gets redirected to the correct domain. (this redirection happens on page1.aspx in the page_load event) Then asp.net redirects the user to the login screen, because the authentication cookie is not sent to www.two.com. How can I track the user and keep him/her logged in between the two domains?
