  • How to remove all data that a website stores on a PC? [on hold]

    - by s.r.a
I was a member in a computer forum website (sevenforums.com) for months. Two days ago I created a thread and many members participated in it, some of them asked me some irrelevant questions and I said “this question is irrelevant” and didn’t get them the answer. Thread finished and I could get the answer from another website and posted it to that website to arise members’ knowledge. Yesterday like every day I went to that website and faced a massage which was banning me, and my account was disabled. I shocked and I didn’t have even any option to appeal against that wrong decision. So I had to do something. And I did the following works: 1- I disconnected my Internet connection and cleared all the history data on the browser I use, the Google chrome. 2- I then ran “ccleaner” tool and marked almost all the options and then clicked on “run” button. Then it cleared all the data including the cookies. 3- I connected the machine (desktop) to the Internet and immediately changed my IP address. 4- I created a new Hotmail account and tried to register as a new member to that website (sevenforums.com). 5- I succeeded and my new account was enabled so I start to posting to that website. But unfortunately, after less than 1 minute I faced this message: “You are already banned”! My question is that, how they could know me again? How to create a new account without they know me? Thanks in advance.

  • Can I wake up PC/laptop on remote printing request?

    - by dzieciou
I have an old Epson printer that does not have network adapter, only a USB socket. I have also a computer with network card. I could combine them to put this printer in my local network, but then I would need to keep the computer always up and running. That's definitely not economic. Is there a way to wake up computer when printing request arrives? Something like Wake-on-LAN? Or I am forced to use additional hardware?

  • error while loading shared libraries; cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

The program evince complains that it can't find libfreetype.so.6; however I clearly have the file and its included in my LD_LIBRARY_PATH; furthermore I have another program which uses libfreetype6 and is able to run just fine. What's going on here? jbud@jb-pc ~> evince evince: error while loading shared libraries: libfreetype.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory jbud@jb-pc ~> ldd /usr/bin/evince | grep freetype libfreetype.so.6 => /usr/local/lib/libfreetype.so.6 (0x00007f912179d000) jbud@jb-pc ~> file /usr/local/lib/libfreetype.so.6 /usr/local/lib/libfreetype.so.6: symbolic link to `libfreetype.so.6.11.1' jbud@jb-pc ~> file /usr/local/lib/libfreetype.so.6.11.1 /usr/local/lib/libfreetype.so.6.11.1: ELF 64-bit LSB shared object, x86-64, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked, BuildID[sha1]=0x21a4b8005e0c9a42af001b35fb984f4e25efc71c, not stripped jbud@jb-pc ~> echo $LD_LIBRARY_PATH /usr/lib/:/usr/lib64/:/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/:/usr/local/lib/ jbud@jb-pc ~> ldd jdrive/jstuff/work/personal/noengine/client | grep freetype libfreetype.so.6 => /usr/local/lib/libfreetype.so.6 (0x00007feb5ac89000)

  • Internet Timeouts with TP-Link TL-WN821N v2 wireless usb stick

    - by user1622959
A short time after accessing the internet, the browser/download times out. Before the timeout, the internet works OK briefly; afterwards, the wireless is still connected with a strong signal, but every internet access results in a timeout. When I leave the PC for a while, the internet is back just to timeout again as soon as I start using it. The same happens when I reconnect to the router. Also, when I surf the internet, it takes a couple of minutes until the timeout, but when I download something, it times out in a matter of seconds. The wireless adapter works just fine in Windows and internet via ethernet cable works just fine in Ubuntu. Does anyone have the same problem or knows a solution. I use Ubuntu 12.10 x64. The problem occurs since I installed ubuntu (which was a few days ago). Here some stuff that might be usefull: serus@serus-Ubuntu-PC:~$ lsusb Bus 002 Device 002: ID 0cf3:1002 Atheros Communications, Inc. • UDP packets are dropped when its size is less than 12 byte in a certain PC. how do i figure it out the reason?

    - by waan
Hi. i've stuck in a problem that is never heard about before. i'm making an online game which uses UDP packets in a certain character action. after i developed the udp module, it seems to work fine. though most of our team members have no problem, but a man, who is my boss, told me something is wrong for that module. i have investigated the problem, and finally i found the fact that... on his PC, if udp packet size is less than 12, the packet is never have been delivered to the other host. the following is some additional information: 1~11 bytes udp packets are dropped, 12 bytes and over 12 bytes packets are OK. O/S: Microsoft Windows Vista Business NIC: Attansic L1 Gigabit Ethernet 10/100/1000Base-T Controller WSASendTo returns TRUE. loopback udp packet works fine. how do you think of this problem? and what do you think... what causes this problem? what should i do for the next step for the cause? PS. i don't want to padding which makes length of all the packets up to 12 bytes.

  • Combine 2 apps into one DB?

    - by coffeeaddict
I'm debating whether to use the same DB for both my blog and my wiki. Since both are open source, and both install the required tables which is a very small number of tables for both apps, I'm thinking about just using one database to represent both sets of tables. Is this common and safe to do? I am hesitant because I always create a new DB for every application I create or use. But in this case, I don't want to spend another $10 a month from my shared hosting just to get another SQL 2008 DB to host a wiki..it's small and I'm the only one using the wiki. I just want to point the wiki to my existing blog DB that's already running and have the wiki wizard auto gen the tables to that DB and just hold both sets of tables there.

  • svnstat script

    - by Kyle Hodgson
So I'm building out a shell script to check out all of our relevant svn repositories for analysis in svnstat. I've gotten all of this to work manually, now I'm writing up a bash script in cygwin on my Vista laptop, as I intend to move this to a Linux server at some point. Edit: I gave up on this and wrote a simple .bat script. I'll figure out the Linux deployment some other way. Edit: added the sleep 30 and svn log commands. I can tell now, with the svn log command, that it's not getting to the svn log ... this time, it did Applications, and ran the log, and then check out Database, and froze. I'll put the sleep 30 before and after the log this time. co2.sh #!/bin/bash function checkout { mkdir $1 svn checkout svn://dev-server/$1 $1 svn log --verbose --xml >> svn.log $1 sleep 30 } cd /cygdrive/c/Users/My\ User/Documents/Repos/wc checkout Applications checkout Database checkout WebServer/www.mysite.com checkout WebServer/anotherhost.mysite.com checkout WebServer/AnotherApp checkout WebServer/thirdhost.mysite.com checkout WebServer/fourthhost.mysite.com checkout WebServer/WebServices It works, for the most part - but for some reason it has a tendency to stop working after a few repositories, usually right after finishing a repository before going to the next one. When it fails, it will not recover on its own. I've tried commenting out the svn line, it goes in and creates all the directories just fine when I do that - so its not that. I'm looking for direction as well as direct advice. Cygwin has been very stable for me, but I did start using the native rxvt instead of "bash in a cmd.exe window" recently. I don't think that's the problem, as I've left top on remote systems running all night and rxvt didn't seem to mind. Also I haven't done any bash scripting in cygwin so I suppose this might not be recommended; though I can't see why not. I don't want all of WebServer, hence me only checking out certain folders like that. What I suspect is that something is hanging up the svn checkout. Any ideas here? Edit: this time when I hit ctrl+z to cancel out, I forgot I was on Windows and typed ps to see if the job was still running; and as you can see there are lots of svn processes hanging around... strange. • Network topology for both direct and routed traffic between two nodes

    - by IndigoFire
Despite it's small size, this is the most difficult network design problem I've faced. There are three nodes in this network: PC running Windows XP with an internal WiFi adapter.Base station with both WiFi and a Wireless Modem (WiModem)Mobile device with both WiFi and WiModem The modem is a low-bandwidth but high-reliability connection. We'd like to use WiFi for high-bandwidth stuff like file transfers when the mobile is nearby, and the modem for control information. Here's the tricky part: we'd like the wifi traffic to go directly from the mobile to the PC, as rebroadcasting packets on the same WiFi channel takes up double the bandwidth. We can do that with a manual configuration by giving the both the PC and the base station two IP addresses for their WiFi interfaces: one on a subnet shared with the mobile, and one on their own subnet. The routes on the PC are set up so that any traffic going to the mobile via WiModem goes through the secondary IP address so that return traffic from the mobile also goes through the WiModem. Here's what that looks like: PC WiFi 1: 192.168.2.10/24 WiFi 2: 192.168.3.10/24 Default route: 192.168.2.1 Base Station WiFi 1: 192.168.2.1/24 WiFi 2: 192.168.3.1/24 WiModem: 192.168.4.1/24 Mobile WiFi: 192.168.3.20/24 WiModem: 192.168.4.20/24 We'd like to move to having the base station automatically configure the mobile and PC, as the manual setup is problematic when you start having multiple mobiles and PCs. This means that the PC can only have 1 IP address and needs to be treated as being pretty simple. Is it possible to have a setup driven by DHCP on the base station that is efficient with bandwidth?

  • Install Jas Mac OS X [closed]

    - by Sauron
I am trying to install OS X on my PC (Hackintosh), using JAS Mac OS X for Intel. I have read lot of tutorials explaining how to install it on a PC with IDE hard disk, but my PC has a SATA HDD. How can I install Jas Mac OS X on a PC with a SATA hard drive? With JAS, it does not show any of my hard drives drives during the OS X install.

  • emerge only prints it's parameters along with "Wrong gcc version" message.

    - by Dmitriy Matveev
Our gentoo server has been left in inconsistent state. I don't know what have been done wrong previously, but now I need to fix the system somehow. I've tried to do revdep-rebuild, but it has failed: ... x11-libs/gksu:0 x11-libs/gtk+:2 x11-libs/gtkglarea:2 x11-libs/libgksu:2 x11-libs/libsvg-cairo:0 x11-libs/qt-gui:4 .......... IMPORTANT: 12 news items need reading for repository 'gentoo'. Use eselect news to read news items. Calculating dependencies... done! emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy "gnome-base/gswitchit-plugins:0". emerge: searching for similar names... emerge: Maybe you meant any of these: gnome-base/gswitchit-plugins, gnome-extra/gswitchit-plugins, gnome-base/nautilus? IMPORTANT: 12 news items need reading for repository 'gentoo'. Use eselect news to read news items. revdep-rebuild failed to emerge all packages. you have the following choices: If emerge failed during the build, fix the problems and re-run revdep-rebuild. Use /etc/portage/package.keywords to unmask a newer version of the package. (and remove 5_order.rr to be evaluated again) Modify the above emerge command and run it manually. Compile or unmerge unsatisfied packages manually, remove temporary files, and try again. (you can edit package/ebuild list first) To remove temporary files, please run: rm /var/cache/revdep-rebuild/*.rr I've tried to remove one of the mentioned packages: harley ~ # emerge -C gswitchit-plugins Wrong gcc version = echo -C gswitchit-plugins harley ~ # I don't see any problems with the gcc, but emerge isn't working: harley ~ # gcc --version gcc (Gentoo 4.5.2 p1.0, pie-0.4.5) 4.5.2 Copyright (C) 2010 Free Software Foundation, Inc. • Can I use a USB monitor (like Mimo) as a primary monitor?

    - by Eduardo Molteni
I have an old PC in the den without Video Card (I have to remove it after it start failing). I access it through Remote Desktop. I don't want to invest in a new video card since the PC is old. If I buy a USB monitor I can use it as a secondary monitor in the main pc, and plug to the old PC when need. The question is: Does the USB monitor work during booting before the OS was loaded?

  • Why is Wifi data transfer is slow?

    - by Ali Azam Rana
I have a wifi router which was attached with my modem, and the pc was connected to the wifi router through an ethernet cable. Yesterday I moved my modem and router to another room and connected my PC with wifi through an external wifi usb dongle (tp-link tl-w722n). I noticed that the file transfer speed from my cell to PC via wifi is greatly affected. I am not clear why is this happening because although PC is now connected through wifi but the dongle supports more than 54Mbps which is still enough.

  • Making one of the folders default in Apache

    - by OmerO
Hello, The file & directory structure of my website is as follows: /Library/WebServer/mysite/joomla .. /Library/WebServer/mysite/wiki .. /Library/WebServer/mysite/forum .. /Library/WebServer/mysite/index.php As you see, there are various applications each residing in separate folders. Now, in order to define this structure, I have made this entry in Apache http-vhosts.config file: ServerName mysite.com DocumentRoot "/Library/WebServer/mysite" ** And I already have the DirectoryIndex defined: DirectoryIndex index.html index.php, and so on. So far so good but I want this specific functionality: When someone visits mysite, he/she should automatically directed to: /Library/WebServer/mysite/joomla (and therefore /Library/WebServer/mysite/joomla/index.php) I don't want to achieve that functionality by putting a redirection code inside /Library/WebServer/mysite/index.php or /Library/WebServer/mysite/index.htm because that causes time delays (because of the redirection, of course) But in this case, the only proper way of achieving it seems to set DocumentRoot this way: DocumentRoot "/Library/WebServer/mysite/joomla" But when I set it that way, then the other folders (/wiki, /forum, etc.) are simply not served by Apache. To work around it, I put directives like: Alias /wiki /Library/WebServer/mysite/wiki .. Alias /forum /library/WebServer/mysite/forum and it did work actually the way I wanted. But... I still cannot use it that way because in this case I just couldn't manage to make the wiki use Short URLs (as described in link text) So, I have to set the DocumentRoot back to /Library/WebServer/mysite and shoud be able to assign /Library/WebServer/mysite/joomla as the "default directory" (my own terminology :) Can I do it in Apache? Is there any other way you might suggest? Thanks.

  • Poor performance of single processor 32bit Windows XP xompared SMP in VBA+Excel

    - by Adam Ryczkowski
Welcome! On many computers I experienced poor performance of 32 bit guests running on 64 bit Linux host (I used only the Debian family). At last I managed to collect benchmark data. I made the benchmark by running custom VBA macro, (which we use in our company) that generates 284 pages long Word document full of Excel Pie charts, tables and comments. The macro is run as a single task (excluding the standard services) on a set of identically configured Windows XP 32-bit systems. I measured the time (in sec.) needed to perform the test. The computer (i.e. my notebook Asus P53E) supports both VT-d extensions and native Windows XP. It has 2-core processor, each core is hyperthreaded, so in total we have 4 mostly independent execution units. I use the latest VirtualBox 4.2 and VMWare Workstation 9.0 for Linux, installed together on the same host (running Mint 13 Maya) but never run simultaneously. The results (in column Time) are no less accurate than ± 10% Here are the results (sorry for the format, but I couldn't find out a better solution for tables in SO): +---------------+-------------+------------------------------------------------------+---------+------------+----------------+------+ | Host software | # processor | Windows kernel | IO APIC | VT-x/AMD-V | 2D Video Accel | Time | +---------------+-------------+------------------------------------------------------+---------+------------+----------------+------+ | VirtualBox | 1 | Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) PC | 0 | 1 | 0 | 1139 | | VirtualBox | 1 | Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) PC | 0 | 1 | 1 | 1050 | | VirtualBox | 1 | Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) PC | 0 | 0 | 1 | 1644 | | VirtualBox | 4 | ACPI Multiprocessor PC | 1 | 1 | 1 | 6809 | | VMWare | 1 | ACPI Uniprocessor PC | | 1 | 1 | 1175 | | VMWare | 4 | ACPI Multiprocessor PC | | 1 | 1 | 3412 | | Native | 4 | ACPI Multiprocessor PC | | | | 1693 | | Native | 1 | Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) PC | | | | 1170 | +---------------+-------------+------------------------------------------------------+---------+------------+----------------+------+ Here are the striking conclusions: Although I've read in the VirtualBox fora about abysmal performance with 32-bit guest on 64-bit host, VMWare also has problems compared to native run, still being twice faster(!) than VBox. Although VBA is inherently single-threaded, the Excel calculations, which take much more than a half of total computation time, supposedly aren't. So one would expect some speed gain when running on 2+ cores ("+" for hyperthreading). What we see is a speed loss. And quite big one too. For the VirtualBox the VT-d extension isn't a big deal. Can anyone shed some light on why the singlethreaded Windows kernel is so much faster than the SMP one?

  • Copying between 2 network devices

    - by Dave Rook
My network has 3 devices - 1 PC and 2 other network devices (which could be PC, NAS, external hard drive etc) If I want to copy data from one network device to another network device from my PC (using the copy and paste method (i.e right click a file, select copy and then right click into the destination folder and click paste) and therefore not using any tools that could be built into the network devices for such a transaction), does the data get routed via my PC or use my systems resources?

  • Something is preventing incoming connections in Windows XP

    - by VarunDotCuDotCc
I want to test Apache Server on my PC. When I visit my site from my PC at 127.0.0.1 or by typing my IP, it works. But when I try viewing my site from another PC by typing my IP, the site didn't load. I only see some data transfer activity on the PC on which the site is hosted. Note, I have tried installing different server software, disabling firewall and creating a connection as incoming connection, but nothing works.
