  • How to test if a user has uploaded a file ?

    Hello, on a page, i have : if (!empty($_FILES['logo']['name'])) { $dossier = 'upload/'; $fichier = basename($_FILES['logo']['name']); $taille_maxi = 100000; $taille = filesize($_FILES['logo']['tmp_name']); $extensions = array('.png', '.jpg', '.jpeg'); $extension = strrchr($_FILES['logo']['name'], '.'); //Début des vérifications de sécurité... if(!in_array($extension, $extensions)) { $erreur = 'ERROR you must upload the right type'; } if($taille>$taille_maxi) { $erreur = 'too heavy'; } if(!empty($erreur)) { ....................... } The problem is, if the users wants to edit information WITHOUT uploading a LOGO, it raises an error : 'error you must upload the right type' So, if a user didn't put anything in the inputbox in order to upload it, i don't want to enter in these conditions test. i tested : if (!empty($_FILES['logo']['name']) and if (isset($_FILES['logo']['name']) but both doesn't seems to work. Any ideas? thanks.

  • opening iWorks documents in iPad UIWebView

    Hello, I'm writing an iPad application that has a UIWebView which I open word and excel documents in, but I want the user to be able to import those documents into the iWorks applications, Pages and Numbers, just like how you can do it in Safari if you open a document. If you open a document in Safari on the iPad, there'll be a button on the top bar that says "Open in..." and you can choose applications to open in. You get the top bar to appear by tapping on middle of the page. So is there an option you can set to allow UIWebView to show up the bar and automatically detect the content type and populate the list with applications you can import in? Or do I have to build this myself? And if I have to build my own, how do I open URLs to import documents into Pages and Numbers etc? Thanks, -David

    Does anyone know of a jQuery plugin that has 'helpers' or extensions like those found in the YAHOO.lang namespace? I have in mind functions such as: isNull isDefined isString isFunction I would also appreciate the same kind of thing for strings and arrays, such as Contains, StartsWith (I know these are easy to write, I'm just looking for a plugin that encompasses them all). It's not in the YAHOO.lang namespace but also form related extensions- determining a radiobox's value (from the one checked), a form element's type in a friendly name. Specifically a plugin with fluent API rather than selector based such as $("input[@type=radio][@checked]") Again I'm aware they're easy to implement but I don't want to reinvent the wheel.

  • Extending fluent nhibernate mappings in another assembly

    Hi, I'm using NHibernate with my ASP.Net MVC application. I'm writing some extensions (plugins) for my application. And I'm loading those plugin dynamically (from different assemblies). In my base application I have many entities and mappings defined (User, Group, etc...) I need to create new entities in my extensions, so i.e. I'm creating News module, so I need to create News mapping. In database News table has a foreign key to User table. Is there any way I can modify my User mapping, so it will have: HasMany(x => x.Courses) .KeyColumn("GroupId") .Inverse(); Or the only way to do it is to change code in my User class and recompile project ? I'm not NHibernate advanced user, so any help will be appreciated. TIA.

  • Why is there a margin at the top of my browser?

    I have a web page that is displays differently in Firefox and Safari (IE testing yet to come). The page displays as expected in Safari, but there is a 50px margin between the body and the HTML that I can't determine what is causing it. Here is the CSS for the body: body { font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.333em; background: #f6eaae url(../_images/parchment-big.jpg) no-repeat center top; font-family: "Lucida Grande", Lucida, Verdana, sans-serif; color: #323232; } I would really appreciate some assistance in finding what is causing this difference. Ideally the Firefox version is better because it gives that extra breathing room at the top. Thanks.

    This is one of the minor CSS problems that plagues me constantly. How do folks around StackOverflow vertically align checkboxes and their labels consistently cross-browser? Whenever I align them right in Safari (usually using vertical-align: baseline on the input), they're completely off in Firefox and IE. Fix it in Firefox, and Safari and IE are inevitably messed up. I waste time on this every time I code a form. Here's the standard code that I work with: <form> <div> <label><input type="checkbox" /> Label text</label> </div> </form> I usually use Eric Meyer's reset, so form elements are relatively clean of overrides. Looking forward to any tips or tricks that you have to offer!

  • Using PHP's $_COOKIE to create cookie.txt for cURL

    Hi, I'm running Drupal and Mediawiki on my server under the same domain. They are connected to each other with extensions/modules. Meaning if I log in to Mediawiki, it automatically logs into Drupal also. Mediawiki has some extensions that filter the information shown on the page. What I want to do is to show that filtered information from Mediawiki on my Drupal page. I'm trying to fetch the data with PHP cURL, but I'm not able to force it to use the login information. How can I convert PHP's $_COOKIE into cURL cookie.txt format? I suppose after that I'm able to fetch the data from Mediawiki with the right permissions.   • ASP MVC Creating Form Rows Dynamically

    Hi Guys, I haven't even attempted this yet and am creating this question for advice really. I have a strongly typed page which receives a form model composed of several components. It is to create a mitigating circumstance (MC) for a student at a university for my final year project. A MC can be composed of the initial problem, assessment extensions, and I use a multi select box to allow the user to select staff retrieved from the database which are able to view the MC once created. The thing is I feel that a student could be granted many assignment extensions for one problem. I am wander if it is possible to include a button/image on the form which when clicked will create a new assessment extension object, and duplicate the form components to set the values for the object? This would all need to occur without any page refreshes. Any advice, or links to good tutorials would be appreciated. I have so far been unable to find any suitable examples. Thanks, Jon

  • How to normalize SVG path data (cross browser)?

    I have tried to find a way to implement cross browser path normalizer. There IS a native way which is described here and functional example is here, but it works only in newest Opera (but not in IE, FF, Safari, Chrome). The native way uses pathElm.normalizedPathSegList and it converts all relative coordinates to absolute ones and represents all path segment types as a following subset of types: M,L,C,z. I have found only one javascript code and jsfiddled functional example of it, but it works only in IE and FF. Chrome gives "Uncaught Error: INDEX_SIZE_ERR: DOM Exception 1". How this could be fixed to work also in Opera, Safari and Chrome or is there any other way for normalizing SVG paths?

  • Documents/Images display fine in Simulator, but not on my device

    Hello. My application is running fine on the simulator, but not on the device. Basically, any documents from the web (PDF, Word, M4P videos) are working great on the simulator (and can be accessed from Safari on the iPhone). However, running on the iPhone, they don't display anything. Here's some sample code: // Set up the URL documentViewController.documentUrl = [NSURL URLWithString:[NSString stringWithFormat:mobileContentUrl]]; // mobileContentUrl is something like: http://www.myserver.com/pathitem/Video.mp4" and can be accessed from Safari [self.navigationController pushViewController:documentViewController animated:YES]; Within documentViewController I have: - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; [webView loadRequest:[NSURLRequest requestWithURL:documentUrl]]; } As I said, works like a charm in the Simulator...What could possibly causing this NOT to work on iPhone?     I'm trying to layout a design that has a fixed height header at the top of the screen, and then an iframe below taking up the remaining space. The problem I'm running into is that if you paste the code exactly as seen below, using XHTML Strict, in each browser (tested w/ chrome/safari/ie8) you will see a vertical scroll bar with a few pixels of white space below the div. Doing some experimenting, I found that if I remove the doctype completely it works in safari/chrome, but IE gets even worse, setting the iframe height to 300px or so. If I set the doctype to transitional, it works in safari/chrome but has the same problem as in the strict case for IE8. If I use the HTML5 doctype, it has the same problem as strict in all browsers. Finally, if I remove the iframe in any of these cases, everything is laid out just fine. Anyone have any ideas?

Machine / Browser configuration Safari, Firefox, Chrome and IE9 on dev machine IE7 and IE8 on separate XP Pro VM's (VMWare on dev machine) IE10 and Chrome on Windows 8 VM (VMware on dev machine) Safari, Firefox and Chrome running on a iMac (same network as dev) Safari, Firefox and Chrome running on a couple of Mac Pro's (same network as dev) IE7, IE8, IE9 running on other PC's on the same network as dev machine Development Configuration Multiple virtual hosts for different projects .local fake TLD for development No firewall restrictions on dev machine for Apache Some sites have .htaccess mapping www to non-www Port 80 is open in the dev machine's firewall Problem XAMPP local home page (http://192.168.1.98/xampp/) can be accessed from everywhere, real or virtual, by IP All .local sites can be accessed from the browsers on the dev machine. All .local sites can be accessed form the browsers in the XP VM's. Regardless of whether a .htaccess file exists or not, no machine on the same LAN can access anything other than the XAMPP home page via IP. Even with hosts files on all machines. I can ping any virtual host from any machine on the network and get a response from the correct IP address. I can't see anything in out Netgear router that might prevent one machine from reaching the other. Besides, once the local hosts file resolves to an ip address that's all that goes out onto the local network. I've gone through an extensive number of posts on both SO and as the result of Google searches. I can't say that I have found anything definitive anywhere.

  • The Windows Browser Ballot Screen Offers Web Browser Choice to European Users

    Since March, our friends across the pond in Europe get to decide which browser they want to install with their Windows OS. Today we thought we would take a look at the ballot choices, some are well known, and others you may not have heard of. Windows users in European countries should start seeing the so called “Browser Ballot Screen” after installing the Windows Update KB976002 (link below). The browser ballot offers a dozen different browsers, including some you’ve likely never heard of.  They each have some unique features, and are all free, and here we take a quick look at each of them. Internet Explorer 8 Internet Explorer is the world’s most used web browser, as it’s bundled with Windows. It also includes several unique features, including Accelerators that make it easy to search or find a map of a location, and InPrivate filtering to directly control what sites can get personal information.  Additionally, it offers great integration with Windows Touch and the new taskbar in Windows 7. IE 8 runs on Windows XP and newer, and is bundled with Windows 7. Mozilla Firefox 3.6 Firefox is the most popular browser other than Internet Explorer.  It is the modern descendant of Netscape, and is loved by web developers for its adherence to web standards, openness, and expandability.  It offers thousands of Add-ons and themes to let you customize it to fit your preferences. The most recent version has added Personas, which are quick, lightweight themes to let you personalize the look your browser. It’s open source, and runs on all modern versions of Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux. Of course thanks to Asian Angel, our resident browser expert, you can check out several articles regarding this popular IE alternative. Google Chrome 4 Google Chrome has gained an impressive amount of market share during its short time in the market. It offers a minimalistic interface and fast speeds with intensive web applications. The address bar is also a search bar, so you can enter a search query or web address and quickly get the information you need. With version 4 you can add a growing number of extensions, personalize it with a variety of stylish themes, and automatically translate foreign websites into your own language. Opera 10.50 Although Opera has been around for over a decade, relatively few users have used it. With the new 10.50 release, Opera has many unique features packed in a sleek UI. It integrates great with Aero and the Windows 7 taskbar, and lets you preview the contents of your websites in the tab bar. It also includes Opera Unite, a small personal web server to make file sharing easy, Opera Turbo to speed up your internet when the connection is slow, and Opera Link to keep all your copies of Opera in sync. It’s a popular browser on many mobile devices, and version 10.50 has a lot of enhancements. Apple Safari 4 Safari is the default browser in Mac OS X, and starting with version 3 it has been available for Windows as well. It’s based on Webkit, the popular new rendering engine that provides great speed and standards compatibility.  Safari 4 lets you browse your browsing history in a unique Coverflow interface, and shows your Top Sites in a fancy, 3D interface.  It’s also great for viewing mobile websites for the iPhone and other mobile devices through Developer Tools. Flock 2.5 Based on the popular Firefox core, Flock brings a multitude of social features to your browsing experience. You can view the latest YouTube videos, Flickr pictures, update your favorite social network, and keep up with your webmail thanks to It’s integration with a wide variety of services. You can even post to your blog through the integrated blog editor. If your time online is mostly spent in social services, this may be a browser you want to check out. Maxthon 2.5 Maxthon is a unique browser that builds on Internet Explorer to bring more features with IE’s rendering. Formerly known as MyIE2, Maxthon was popular for bringing tabbed browsing with IE rendering during the days of IE 6.  Today Maxthon supports a wide range of plugins and skins, so you can customize it however you want. It includes mouse gestures, a web accelerator to speed up pokey internet connections, a content blocker to remove unwanted content from sites, an online account to backup your favorites, and a nice download manager. Avant Browser Another nice browser based on Internet Explorer, Avant brings a wide variety of features in a nice brushed-metal interface. It includes an integrated AutoFill for forms, mouse gestures, customizable skins, and privacy protection features. It also includes a Flash blocker that will only load flash in webpages when you select them. You can also integrate Avant with an online account to store your bookmarks, feeds, settings and passwords online. Sleipnir Sleipnir is a customizable browser meant for advance users that is quite popular in Japan. It’s built on the Trident engine and virtually every aspect of is customizable unlike Internet Explorer.   FlashPeak SlimBrowser SlimBrowser from FlashPeak incorporates a lot of features like Popup Killer, Auto Login, site filtering and more. It’s based on Internet Explorer but offers a lot more customizable options out of the box.   K-meleon This basic browser is light on system resources and based on the Gecko engine. It’s been in development for years on SourceForge, and if you like to tweak virtually any aspect of your browser, this might be a good choice for you.   GreenBrowser GreenBrowser is based on Internet Explorer and is available in several languages. It has a large amount of features out of the box and is light on system resources.   Conclusion The European Union asked for more choices in the web browser they could choose from when installing Windows, and with the Browser Ballot Screen, they certainly get a variety to choose from.  If you’ve tried out some of the lesser known browsers, or think some important ones have been left out, leave a comment and tell us about it.     The Rosetta Stone Online Edition claims that it requires Windows: XP SP3, Vista SP2, or Windows 7 Mac (Intel based only): Leopard, Snow Leopard, or Lion (OS X 10.5 or higher) Internet Explorer 7, Firefox 3, Safari 3, Chrome 8 or greater Adobe Flash Player version 10.1 or greater Yet, I would guess if it works on Chrome and Firefox and only requires Flash versoin 10.1, it'd work on Ubuntu too... Can anyone confirm?
