• Can't set a cookie in Chrome 5

  Hi, Since today I am facing a tricky issue with Google Chrome that I've just updated to v5. I have a user login process running on my website. Everything works fine on FF 3.6.x and IE 7, but I just can't set any cookie in Google Chrome 5. I'm mentioning 5 because it worked very well before on v4. My PHP script looks like that: $cook = setcookie($cookieName, $value, $expires, '/', '.'.$domain); var_dump($cook, isset($_COOKIE[$cookieName])); I even tried the alternative setrawcookie without any result. $cook = setrawcookie($cookieName, $value, $expires, '/', '.'.$domain); var_dump($cook, isset($_COOKIE[$cookieName])); FF 3.6.x and IE7 output: bool(true) bool(true) Whereas Chrome v5 outputs: bool(true) bool(false) And obviously I see not trace of this cookie in Google Chrome 5. • Firefox Extension needs to get cookie from PHP redirected external page.

  I am writing a firefox extension that interacts with a JSON server interface. I receive a url to the server which then redirects to the client site that provides the cookie. I need to be able to set this cookie in the users browser without physically loading it in the browser. Is this possible through an AJAX call? I tried using a hidden iframe, however firefox does not seem to like a php redirect in the iframe. My current solution is to load the site in a second tab that never gains focus and then auto close it when the cookie is set. This is very messy and would prefer something more streamlines. Any thoughts?

• Relying on nhibernate's second level cache vs pushing objects into the session

  I have some big entities which are frequently accessed in the same session. For example, in my application there is a reporting page which consist of dynamically generated chart images. For each chart image on this page, the client makes requests to corresponding controller and the controller generates images using some entities. I can either use asp.net's session dictionary for "caching" those entities or rely on nhibernate's second level cache support with using cached queries for example. What is your opinion? By the way I will use shared hosting, is nhibernate's second level cache hosting friendly? Thanks.

• IIS 6 forces AppRoot/Starting Point to upper case when Virtual Directory is imported from a file

  I have searched the web for this and couldn't find anything (well one remotely relevant post), so here I am. We have multiple ASP.NET apps in IIS 6 using Forms Authentication with dedicated path for each app. Since path is case sensitive it must match URL's path section exactly. However, because of an incorrect casing in IIS 6 Metabase for AppRoot (or Starting Point in IIS UI) bowser doesn't send Form cookie to the server whenever URL is previously resolved on the server and sent to client in incorrect case. Example: App URL = "https://Test.net/Application1" Cookie path = /Application1 Metabase AppRoot = /LM/W3SVC/1393818691/ROOT/APPLICATIONPATH1 Resolved URL = "https://Test.net/APPLICATIONPATH1" Now to the root cause... We create virtual directories on test server manually in a specific case (matches Path for each application). We then export virtual directory using UI to an XML file, which is then imported to another server (let's say production), at which point IIS decides to uppercase AppRoot element of the metabase. Can anyone shed some light on this? Is there a setting on IIS I am not aware of? I am trying to avoid manual edit of metabase after the import. Is that a bug?

  I´m having a problem setting a cookie and doing a 302 redirect In chrome the cookie is not being set (I haven't tested safari), in other browsers I was having the same problem until I added Path=/ to the cookie an now it works. This is how the header looks; the status is 302 Found Content-Type text/html; charset=iso-8859-1 Expires Thu, 01 Jan 1970 00:00:00 GMT Set-Cookie alasca-flash=error-Message<Required<error-Name<Required<error-Sex<Required<error-Age<Required<;Path=/ Location /messages/sdf Content-Length 0 Server Jetty(6.1.x) Any idea on why the cookie is not set? • Outlook MAPI session exception when outlook interface is closed

  I'm developing a email sender that retrieve data from a database, build up a MailItem with the Outlook Interop and send it. My email sender is running by a windows service that is notified everytime there's some data to send. I'm logging on the MAPI session of Outlook without problem and everything seems to work. But... when someone open Outlook interface and then close, my service crash at the first attempt i call a SendAndReceive method, with an exception that report that the session is assigned to another thread. I'm googling around for hours and i'm listening to the application_quit event, raised by the interface closing, trying to logoff and logon again to the application...but i'm still falling in the same error. Where am i wrong?Any suggestion? Thank you in advance

Any ideas on how to drop the cookie and output the correct text without a page refresh? Many thanks.

  I've used the PHP MVC framework Symfony to build an on-demand web app. It has an annoying bug - the session expires after about 15-30 minutes of inactivity. There is a config directive to prevent session expiration but it does not work. Even workarounds such as this one did not help me. I intend not to migrate to Symfony 1.1 (which fixes this bug) in the foreseeable future. Has anyone been there and solved it? I would be most grateful for a hint or two!

  Reading this question different users get the same cookie value in aspxanonymous and search for a solution, I start thinking, if it is possible for some one to really steal the cookie with some way, and then place it on his browser and login lets say as administrator. When I print_r($_COOKIE) it outputs: Array ( [PHPSESSID] => 0afef6bac83a7db8abd9f87b76838d7f [userId] => 1232 [userEmail] => [email protected] [firstName] => user [lastName] => user ) So I think $_COOKIE don't have the expiration time, is it possible with some other function?

  I'm getting a very peculiar problem with my asp.net application, it took me an age to track down but I still don't know what is causing this behaviour. If I set a session variable in the Application_PreRequestHandlerExecute event, then my external JavaScript files are ignored, and therfore causing a raft of errors. I have simplified the problem below. E.g. I have file called JScript.js containing the code: function myAlert() { alert("Hi World"); } And in my Default.aspx file I reference the js with the code: <script src="JScript.js" type="text/javascript"></script> And in the body onload event I call the myAlert() function: <body onload="myAlert()"> And finally in the Global.asax file: Private Sub Application_PreRequestHandlerExecute(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) HttpContext.Current.Session("myVar") = "MyValue" End Sub If you run the Default.aspx file you will see the js function isnt called, however, if you comment out the line of code Global.asax then the external js is called and the function executed when the page loads. Why is this?

• Internet Explorer discards cookie when printing?

  I have an unusual issue with this page: http://reports.liftlogger.com/FleetReport/Status/ (username stackoverflow / password stackoverflow). The page loads and renders correctly in IE7/8. However, the graph does NOT print correctly. When printing or print previewing, the graph fails to load. I've identified that when printing, the browser attempts to reload the image, but does not send the ASPXAUTH authentication cookie along with it. This is required to generate the image (due to permission enforcement in the back-end). Can anyone help me identify why IE decides not to send this cookie, and is there a fix? Regards Gareth

To optimize resolving JPA's EntityManager I would like to create helper (JPAResourceBean) that implements lazy load of entity manager. For this purposes I'm going to use struts2's bean declaration: <bean name="myfactory" class="my.model.JPAResourceBean" scope="session" optional="false"/> Why bean is not instantiated neither in session? (I'm using s:property just for debug) ... <s:property value="#session.myfactory" default="buka.1"/> ... nor in plain bean list: ... <s:property value="#myfactory" default="buka.2"/> ... May be the second part of question is - how to resolve this bean from java code?

• Google App Engine - Calling getSession().invalidate(); causes app engine to act weird.

  When I call hreq.getSession().invalidate(); app engine slows down tremendously. I looked at appstats and saw that on a page where no database calls are made, it was calling memcache.get and datastore.get 23 times each. The stack trace of these calls showed that it was being called from getSession(). This only happens on the production server. Every time I make a request to a page, it makes a bunch of memcache and datastore calls. This slow down goes away though when i restart my browser. When I changed the code to simply set the isLoggedIn property of the session to false, rather than calling hreq.getSession().invalidate();, everything was fine. As a test, I didn't invalidate my session, but I changed the value of my browser's session cookie, and the app engine exhibited the same behavior. Is this a bug with the app engine?

  OK, I'm stumped, and have been staring at this for hours. I'm setting a cookie at /access/login.php with the following code: setcookie('username', $username, time() + 604800, '/'); When I try to logout, which is located at /access/logout.php (and rewritten to /access/logout), the cookie won't seem to unset. I've tried the following: setcookie('username', false, time()-3600, '/'); setcookie('username', '', time()-3600, '/'); setcookie('username', '', 1, '/'); I've also tried to directly hit /access/logout.php, but it's not working. Nothing shows up in the php logs. Any suggestions? I'm not sure if I'm missing something, or what's going on, but it's been hours of staring at this code and trying to debug.

  Let me first explain what i am trying to do: step 1 : domain-a.com - cookie is set using a redirecting PHP script(placed on domain-b.com) when a link to domain-b.com is clicked from this domain step 2 : domain-b.com-main website -after a certain browsing user reaches domain-c.com step 3 : domain-c.com - when user reaches the thankyou page I placed an img tag with src = PHP confirmation script. (which confirms the cookie-placed on domain-b.com) Everything is working like charm with Chrome and FF, but IE is not able detect or recognize the cookie inside the confirmation script on step-3. I am not able to find any specific reason for this. I will really appreciate if anyone can help on this.

For example, on the Activity page, let's say you want BP to "forget" the user's last viewed parameter (like "My Forums" or "@user Mentions") and go right back to All Members or My Friends every time you reload the page.   I am working on a project that has a requirement such that login details can only be accessed from one machine at one time. For example, if I grant you access to my website and you login from your home machine, the system will store this settings in a cookie/database. Now if you try the same login details on your work machine or any other machine, the system will not let you log into the system. The login will now only work from home machine.
