  • How to access Virtual machine using powershell script

    I want to access the virtual machine using powershell script. For that I used below script, Enter-PSSession -computername sheetal-VDD -credential compose04.com\abc.xyz1 where, sheetal-VDD is hostname of virtual machine compose04.com is the domain name of virtual machine and abc.xyz1 is the username of virtual machine After entering above command , it asks for password. When the password is entered I get below error, Enter-PSSession : Connecting to remote server failed with the following error message : WinRM cannot process the reques t. The following error occured while using Kerberos authentication: There are currently no logon servers available to s ervice the logon request. Possible causes are: -The user name or password specified are invalid. -Kerberos is used when no authentication method and no user name are specified. -Kerberos accepts domain user names, but not local user names. -The Service Principal Name (SPN) for the remote computer name and port does not exist. -The client and remote computers are in different domains and there is no trust between the two domains.   • How do I tunnel an HTTPS proxy through a virtual machine (VMWare)

    I have a personal setup at home using VMWare Workstation. I also have a set of Virtual Private Machines that run Squid, and therefore provide me HTTPS proxy tunnels. Using Proxifier, I can tunnel all traffic for given applications through these tunnels. However, I also have a few virtual machines for dev/staging/experimentation/etc. I generally just use NAT to provide Internet access to the machines, and if I need to use these proxies, I can just setup Proxifier (or a Linux equivalent) to pipe the traffic through them. No problem. But... I got to thinking: Wouldn't it be great if I could assign these proxy tunnels to a virtual machine, so that when I start up the VM, it has instant-on access through the tunnel and not my local connection? (EDIT: Of course, it would USE my local connection, but it would tunnel traffic through the proxy.) To be more clear: I want a solution that binds the proxy to a VM, so that when I start the VM, I don't have to use a proxy client to connect to the tunnel - I am already piping all traffic from that VM through that proxy. I did a bit of searching, and the closest thing I could find was this: How to route public static IP to a virtual machine on a vmware ESXi host? Which wasn't all that applicable. The proxies are protected by user/pass but do not filter by IP. Again, they are HTTPS proxies setup through Squid. Any ideas on how to make this happen? Thanks a ton.

I have tried select_related, but it seems to do not work... Question: - How can I add column automatically like (SELECT hits.hits_total, model.* FROM [...]) to the queryset? - Or use a functional select_related with my models? The certificate expiration will cause errors if you attempt to configure Database Control on or after 31-Dec-2010. Existing Database Control configurations are not affected by this issue. Likelihood of Occurrence What Versions Are Affected? The issue impacts configuration of Database Control with Oracle Database 10.2.0.4 and 10.2.0.5 only.     I have an HP dv7t-6100CTO laptop. I have linux ubuntu 12.04 lts dual booted. The specs of my laptop are: - i7-2620m dual core (2.7 ghz) processor - intel wifi link 1000 bgn wireless card I am having a hard time getting my laptop to connect to the internet through wireless. Ethernet is fine, but at college I need wireless the majority of the time. Can anyone help? Some steps I have done: I have tried WICD while uninstalling the Network Manager. When that didn't work, I uninstalled WICD and reinstalled Network Manager. I an not really sure what else to do.

    I am in the planning stage of a project and I am looking to hire a project manager. I would like to do some coding and keep eye on all parts of the project. However, i have a feeling that a project manager will get better results. I have the following options: 1) manage the project and not code 2) hire a project manager and code myself I am worried that the project manager will feel impeded by having the project owner in the development team. If I run the project, the team might fall apart causing the project to fail. To stick within budget, I have to be involved in one capacity or another. Does anyone have experience with this situation, any suggestions? more info: 4 in-house developers each responsible for a specific area. The developers can also outsource work if agreed to by the project manager.

  • Why can't I refresh the list of packages?

    This might be a duplicate, but I can't find a solution in other posts. Whenever I try to update I get this message: ERROR###ERROR###ERROR###ERROR###ERROR###ERROR###ERROR E:Encountered a section with no Package: header, E:Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/listspackages.medibuntu.org_dists_quantal_free_i18n_Translation-en, E:The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened. I have tried runnig this in the terminal: sudo rm /var/lib/apt/lists/* -vf sudo apt-get update It doesn't work at all. I cant even open the software sources and "sudo apt-get check" gives me this message: Reading package lists... Error! E: Encountered a section with no Package: header E: Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/packages.medibuntu.org_dists_quantal_free_i18n_Translation-en E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened. UPDATE: solution for me was to remove the medibuntu-keyring through synaptic manager and removed mediubuntu from the software sources too manually. This seems to have solved the problem. The update manager doesnt give me any error messages anymore.

    I have installed Oneiric Beta on my laptop. As my Mobile Broadband refused to connect to Internet through network manager I'm now using wvdial to connect. Hence the network manager shows I'm not connected to any networks. When I try to install software from Ubuntu Software Center the 'Install' option remains disabled and under reviews section it says no network connection! As a workaround I kept installing applications from terminal which works fine. Therefore, my question is how to make Software Center recognize that I am connected to Internet?

    Microsoft provides some VMs for testing purposes (advertised on StackOverflow) and I'm trying to understand the license terms. The one I don't really understand is 1.b. You may use the software for testing purposes only. You may not use the software for commercial purposes. My thoughts: a) Testing a website in several browsers on several different virtual machines seems a quite professional approach. I hardly believe many private developers would do that. Of course they should, but which private developer has the time to do so? b) If that's really only available to private developers, what is the offer to companies doing the same thing? I am missing the advertisement for a paid service. My question as a non-native English speaker: Is testing by a company considered as a commercial purpose? Can I use the VMs within a company for testing or not?

  • Software centre and Evolution think I am offline using WICD to make wireless connection

    I upgraded to 11.10 yesterday. I use WICD to make the wireless connection because I have never managed to get network manager to make a wireless connection on any computer I have installed it on. But since 11.10 both Evolution and software centre are convinced I am offline even though I have a functional connection (I am using wifi now and both are reporting me offline, which I clearly am not). I am using an MSI WIND clone Advent 4211 B netbook. Network manager has never worked on this computer for wifi. WICD can make connection about 30% time (often returns BAD PASSWORD, first few attempts). XP of course works fine to make wifi connection. I have a I am happy to supply more information I just do not know what information might help. I have reported a bug against evolution

  • nginx reverse proxy cannot access apache virtual hosts

    I am setting up nginx as a reverse proxy. The server runs on directadmin and lamp stack. I have nginx running on port 81. I can access all my sites (including virtual ips) on the port 81. However when I forward the traffic from port 80 to 81, the virtual ips have a message saying "Apache is running normally". Server IPs are fine, and I can still access virtual IP's on 81.   • Flaws in my PHP development setup - sharing sources causing lags

    I have following development setup for my PHP projects: Working station running on Windows 7 with PhpStorm IDE. GIT for version controlling. CentOS on virtual machine (VirtualBox) with Apache and MySQL (copy of production server). So far, I've been sharing project's source folders between host and guest systems and it was working quite well only really slow. The reason behind this is that Apache was reading files from remote folder (mounted locally). After doing some research, I found out that this set up can be improved by using disk mapping (Samba) instead of folder sharing. So I did that change. I configured my PhpStorm to automatically deploy files to mapped drive. Everything works like a charm now, except for one problem - when I change branches I need to synchronize project's local folder with the one on mapped drive and that takes time, a lot of time (like branching in SVN). Is there another way to handle this than just working on files directly on mapped drive?

    I have Ubuntu 10.04 installed on an older hard disk. I recently bought a new disk and already installed Windows 7. I dont want to use the older disk anymore, and I would like to keep on using Ubuntu in a virtual machine on the new disk(to avoid the possible mess-ups of dual boot and I found VirtualBox is the best free tool for this). I wish to keep the exact same data\programs\configurations\settings I had been using in Ubuntu for so long, and avoid the tedious part of having to reconfigure so many things. How do I backup\restore Ubuntu to another disk? I would prefer a free tool to do the backup\restore.

  • How do I customize Alt+Tab behaviour?

    GOAL: I would like to make the little menu that pops up when I press Alt+Tab to gain the ability to jump to a particular window by pointing my mouse at one of the icons. This is the behaviour that my Mac OSX laptop has. The Situation I use Xfce, with the default windows manager (XFwm). I currently have Ubuntu 10.04 and 11.10, although I plan on updating both to XUbuntu 12.04 once the dust settles (probably mid-may?). (Clarification, for my current setup, I installed Ubuntu, then added xfce manually after the fact). So, a series of related questions. How do I set this up? (If this is not possible, please answer the following questions to help me learn) Is the Alt+Tab a function of the desktop environment, or the windows manager, or some other piece? (IE if I switch to using some other tool, could I potentially get this) Are there any customizations that are available either from settings or add-on applications that would allow me to change the behaviour of that menu?

  • Disabling Bluetooth crashes 3G: can I consider this a bug?

    I'm on an Acer TravelMate 8372G here runnning Ubuntu 11.10 64bit and I get the following weird behaviour: As soon as I turn off bluetoooth, the built-in 3G connection disconnects and Network Manager is unable to reconnect, leaving the following track in syslog: NetworkManager[1205]: <warn> GSM modem enable failed: (32) Unknown error The only way I'm able to reconnect 3G is by going all the way through rfkill unblock bluetooth rfkill block wwan rfkill unblock wwan sudo service network-manager restart My question to you guys: should I file a bug, or is there any any logical connection I'm missing that makes this a feature? = thanks! workflow

  • Why is Android VM-based? [closed]

    By about 2004, it was clear that ARM is the clear winner for mobile CPUs, beating out MIPS, SH3, and DragonBall. PocketPC (Windows Mobile) applications was natively-compiled (at least most of them - except for .NET compact and its competitors). Likewise, Apple's iOS (named iPhone OS at the time) prefers natively-compiled applications. Then why Android chose a virtual machine based system stack? (the Dalvik VM). Wouldn't it be simpler to just compile applications down to ARM code using GCJ or something? Is the decision influenced by the J2ME-way of doing things, or was just because it's "cool"? Perhaps like most things Java, the culture that prefers multiple levels of indirection and abstractions, they just added another layer of abstraction for "just in case"?

  • Why can't I get into my repositories?

    Upgraded from 10.04 to 10.10 by mistake and am having problems with some of my programs. They either don't work or they disappear from view on the screen. The Repositories menu item in Synaptic Packages Manager is a case in point. The computer does nothing when I choose this item. I am locked out of unless I edit /etc/apt/sources.list. The rest of the application seems to work, however. Update Manager just flashes on screen then disappears without doing, as does Printing. How do I downgrade from a higher to a lower level repository? I need to downgrade from 10.10 to 10.04. Each time Ubuntu upgrades to 10.10 evil things happen and the operating system really gets messed up. I really do not want to have to erase and install my operating system all over again if I can help it.

  • Configuring Network without Default Gateway

    I'm trying to connect my desktop and laptop using an ethernet connection. I usually configure network from the command line but this time I decided to give Network Manager a try, so I went to Network Connections, and selected manual IP configuration. At first I left the default gateway field blank, since I don't need a default gateway. Turned out network manager doesn't let me save the connection unless I enter that field, but entering a phony gateway messes up with my Internet connection. Anyway to do this setup?

  • Is it possible to make the desktop background transparent or otherwise hidden?

    I'm running Ubuntu in a virtual machine via VirtualBox. I have the seamless mode turned on, which is pretty cool. However, if I move an Ubuntu window around quickly, I can see the redraw of the ubuntu background quickly before it's hidden by VirtualBox again. This isn't a huge deal, but I'd like to fix it, if possible. I see two possible options that don't involve changing VirtualBox code: 1. Make the Ubuntu desktop transparent 2. Make the Ubuntu desktop hidden entirely Is it possible to do either? I know that Compiz Fusion has/had a feature to do this for their cube effects, but I don't think that I can run this on the VM. And, even if I could, I don't want to run those services for this one small feature.

I plan to develop a Python program that sends the URL of a given website to a virtual machine where the dynamic execution of the eventual malicious JavaScript embedded in the website's page is monitored. My questions: Should my VM be Windows or Linux ? What if the malware damages my VM: is there a hint how to avoid that ? Or launch a new VM automatically instead ? If I use telnet client library to communicate with the VM: must I implement a server within the VM to deal with my queries or can I overcome this ? I am jut looing for hints, general ideas.
