• Ubuntu 14.04 upgrade succeeded partially - I would like to use a different mirror; how can I do that?

  When I wanted to upgrade from Ubuntu 13.10 to 14.04 the update manager told me that there was an unresolvable problem with calculating the upgrade. In order to see more details I performed the following on the command line: apt-get update apt-get upgrade apt-get dist-upgrade apt-get install update-manager-core do-release-upgrade Now do-release-upgrade tells me that no newer version is available but the "about" box in the main menu tells me I am still on 13.10. I think the latter is right, as for instance in the "system settings" there is no way to select local menus, which is present in 14.04 (I tried with a DVD, and there it is). Maybe the problem is related to the fact that "apt-get update" cannot get two resources called "saucy/InRelease" and "saucy/main/binary-i386/Packages" from the mirror (mirror.informatik.uni-mannheim.de; 404 not found). I would like to use a different mirror; how can I do that? Any help appreciated, thanks in advance.

  Hello I compiled & installed gcc4.4 using macports. When I try to compile using - g++ -g -Wall -ansi -pthread -std=c++0x main.cpp...: #include ... std::thread t(handle); t.join(); .... The compiler returns: cserver.cpp: In member function 'int CServer::run()': cserver.cpp:48: error: 'thread' is not a member of 'std' cserver.cpp:48: error: expected ';' before 't' cserver.cpp:49: error: 't' was not declared in this scope But std::cout <<... compiles fine.. • F# Static Member Type Constraints

  I'm trying to define a function, factorize, which uses structural type constraints (requires static members Zero, One, +, and /) similar to Seq.sum so that it can be used with int, long, bigint, etc. I can't seem to get the syntax right, and can't find a lot of resources on the subject.   When we design a database table for a DVD rental company, we actually have a movie, which is an abstract idea, and a physical DVD, so for each rental, we have a many-to-many table with fields such as: TransactionID UserID DvdID RentedDate RentalDuration AmountPaid but what about with virtual goods? For example, if we let a user rent a movie online for 3 days, we don't actually have a DVD, so we may have a table: TransactionID UserID MovieID RentedDate RentalDuration AmountPaid should we create a record for each instance of "virtual good"? For example, what if this virtual good (the movie) can be authorized to be watched on 3 devices (with 3 device IDs), then should we then create a virtual good record in the VirtualGoods table, each with a VirtualGoodID and then another table that has VirtualGoodID DeviceID to match up the movie with the DeviceIDs? We can also just use the TransactionID as the VirtualGoodID. Are there circumstances where we may want to create a record to record this "virtual good" in a VirtualGoods table?

• Virtual network interface in Mac OS X

  I know that you can make a virtual network interface in Windows (see here), and in Linux it is also pretty easy with ip-aliases, but does something similar exist for Mac OS X? I've been looking for loopback adapters, virtual interfaces and couldn't find a good solution. You can create a new interface in the networking panel, based on an existing interface, but it will not act as a real fully functional interface (if the original interface is inactive, then the derived one is also inactive). This scenario is needed when working in a completely disconnected situation. Even then, it makes sense to have networking capabilities when running servers in a VMWare installation. Those virtual machines can be reached by their IP address, but not by their DNS name, even if I run a DNS server in one of those virtual machines. By configuring an interface to use the virtual DNS server, I thought I could test some DNS scenario's. Unfortunately, no interface is resolving DNS names if none of them are inactive...

• IIS 7.5 Manager crashes when adding a custom error page

  I'm running a local IIS 7.5 server in Win 7 Pro, and I'm trying to add a custom error page for 403 responses. When I click OK to add a custom error page for my site, IIS Manager just vanishes. The server is still running, and I can re-start IIS Manager, but the new page has not been saved. I've also tried adding it directly to web.config, but that just gives me The page cannot be displayed because an internal server error has occurred. Does anyone know why this might be happening? Edit: The event log implies that an invalid character in the path caused the crash, but It occured even when I copied & pasted a path from a valid entry. Application error log: IISMANAGER_CRASH IIS Manager terminated unexpectedly. Replacement policy is LRU. What is the physical address in main memory that corresponds to virtual address 4096? and how do you get to that result? • Objective-C member variable assignment?

  I have an objective-c class with member variables. I am creating getters and setters for each one. Mostly for learning purposes. My setter looks like the following: - (void) setSomething:(NSString *)input { something = input; } However, in C++ and other languages I have worked with in the past, you can reference the member variable by using the this pointer like this->something = input. In objective-c this is known as self. So I was wondering if something like that is possible in objective-c? Something like this: - (void) setSomething:(NSString *)input { [self something] = input; } But that would call the getter for something. So I'm not sure. So my question is: Is there a way I can do assignment utilizing the self pointer? If so, how? Is this good practice or is it evil? Thanks!

• Cannot log into Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g: ORA-28001

  I can no longer log into Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g. I get this error message: ORA-28001: the password has expired (DBD ERROR: OCISessionBegin) I could log into the server using SQL*Plus. I warned me that the password was going to expire in 7 days (which is not the same as being already expired). Following advice from several documents, I ran these commands from SQL*Plus: ALTER USER sys IDENTIFIED BY new_password; ALTER USER system IDENTIFIED BY new_password; SQL*Plus no longer warns about passwords, but I still cannot use the Enterprise Manager. Then I followed this to remove password expiration: ALTER PROFILE default LIMIT password_life_time UNLIMITED And I've also restarted the Oracle services. In case it was using cached credentials, I've tried to connect from several browsers in several computers. No way: I still get ORA-28001 in Enterprise Manager. What am I missing? • App with MVC Virtual application shared AuthCookie.

  I have a 3.5 ASP.Net WebForm parent application. The parent uses forms authentication. I have a MVC child virtual application, I would like to make it so the user logs in to the parent application, user then navigates to the virtual application by pressing a link on the parent. However every time I do this it goes to the login screen for the virtual application. Is there a web setting I should double check in Parent? Or Child? Is there an IIS setting that I should check? Should I be using a virtual directory instead of virtual application? I want the child to be able to access the Session[] from the parent. I would like the child app to use the same authCookie as the parent app.

  How does the following work? #include <limits> int main() { const int* const foo = &std::numeric_limits<int> ::digits; } I was under the impression that in order to take an address of a static const-ant member we had to physically define it in some translation unit in order to please the linker. That said, after looking at the preprocessed code for this TU, I couldn't find an external definition for the digits member (or any other relevant members). I tested this on two compilers (VC++ 10 and g++ 4.2.4) and got identical results (i.e., it works). Does the linker auto-magically link against an object file where this stuff is defined, or am I missing something obvious here?

I however need to access it from other files and also logically it seems like it should reside at the namespace level. My questions is, what effect does static const have in this case? Clearly const means I can't assign a new value to GasConstant, but what does a static member at the namespace mean. Is this similar to filescope static effect, where the member is not accessible outside of the unit?

  Hello, everyone. I'd like to ask, can compiler(e.g. Visual C++) generate a report(.txt) telling struct member offset for a struct/all structs? If so, it helps debugging quite a lot. For example, when you read disassembler code in the debugger, it can be easier to associate an offset value to a struct member. Also, it is better to have compiler report offset of each local variable on a function stack frame(e.g. the offset relative to ebp on an X86 machine). Thank you in advance.

  We know that compiler generates some member functions for user-defined class if that member functions are not defined but used, isn't it. But the following code.... class AA { int member1; int member2; }; But this code gives an run time error, because variable "a" is used without being iniltialized!!! So my question is this: when we instantiate an int, it has a value. So why the default constructer doesn't work and by using those two int numbers initializes variable "a"??

The reason of this structure is that I have a precostituited class which finds the minimum of a gived function (it's extfunct in the example). So I have to use it on a function member of a class.
