• Loading...Please wait for UIWebView - iPhone

  Hi guys, In Safari and other browsers, there is a bar that would indicate the percentage of the loading progress, and I, myself, trying to implement something similiar on iPhone, when loading some content in UIWebView, I would like the app to indicate the percentage of the page being loaded. I tried some google search and realize we could use NSURLConnection to read only the header and get the Content-Length ( but don't know how to, I read the Apple's NSURLConnection docs but probably I missed something ... ). And the size ( kb ) which UIWebView had loaded, seem like UIWebView don't support it for the public API... I hope this would be complete in some other ways than I thought, so if you have any ideas, please throw it out, thanks for your patient reading. P.S : I could just show an Activities Indicator for users with the long loading progress actions of the UIWebView but I just want to go further with the loading percentage bar :). Regards.

• (2006, 'MySQL server has gone away') in WSGI django

  I have a MySQL gone away with Django under WSGI. I found entries for this problem on stackoverflow, but nothing with Django specifically. Google does not help, except for workarounds (like polling the website every once in a while, or increasing the database timeout). Nothing definitive. Technically, Django and/or MySQLdb (I'm using the latest 1.2.3c1) should attempt a reconnect if the server hanged the connection, but this does not happen. How can I solve this issue without workarounds ?

• Android - Looking for an AOP solution

  I'm writing an application that on the bottom line uses it's internal API for some manipulations. The problem is that to call any method provided by that class first I (or anybody who uses the API) have to call #prepare() and after that #cleanup(). It all worked fine until the application and the API started to grow. And the risk of not calling one of the supplied methods before or after the API is now to big to be ignored (which makes it a bug risky application). Searching for a solution I found this question. I use Google Guice in my app for other purposes, but Android doesn't support AOP, that's why a use only guice-no_aop-x.jar. So I end-up with two questions: Is there an AOP solution for android to implement the same approach that is shown in the link above? Or may be someone has an idea that will be suitable for my case? • C# ASP.Net The type or namespace name 'iAnywhere' could not be found

  Morning all, I know that this sounds like a simple referencing problem from the title this is becoming a nightmare! I have a code class that uses the "iAnywhere.Data.AsaClient.dll". This Dll is referenced in the project and in the code class I have added this dll in the Using section. Everything seems fine at build with no errors at all but when I go to run the application it comes up with the following Compilation Error: Compiler Error Message: CS0246: The type or namespace name 'iAnywhere' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) The line that the Error points to this line in the class: using iAnywhere.Data.AsaClient; I have set the dll to copy local and it makes no difference, the Dll is installed on my PC so is in the GAC, I use this Dll with many other C# projects and have no problems. I have scoured Google looking for an answer and haven't found anything that points me to an answer to my problem. Any help would be brilliant!

  I was trying to install Microsoft SQL Server 2005 on my Windows 7 pc. When I tried to install it, it tells me that I have a newer version installed on my pc. So, I checked that Microsoft Sharepoint 2010 installed some sql server 2008 tools for me. I decided to uninstall SharePoint 2010(which I wasn't using) and then tried to install MS SQL Server 2005 again. This threw me the following exception: Error 1603 installing microsoft sql server setup support files Searching on Google I found this article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/916760 but it's not my case actually. Any help will be appreciated. I really need this to continue working.

• Why do I get a "Day too big" error from Perl?

  I have been helping someone debug some code where the error message was "Day too big". I know that this springs from localtime and the Y2038 bug (most google results appear to be people dealing with cookies expiring well into the future). We appear to have 'fixed' the problem by using time to get the current date. However, given that none of our original dates should have hit the 2038 issue I'm sceptical that we've actually fixed the problem ... Are there other instances that anyone knows of where one would hit "day too big"? OS is Solaris. Sample code - the actual code is quite large and the person I'm working with hasn't actually isolated the offending part (which is why I'm worried the 'fix' is not actually a fix). If I can put together something concise which reproduces the issue I will post!

• Is it possible to use flashvars with JBoss?

  Hi, I'm part of a team developing a product using JSF 2.0 and I was asked to investigate the possibility of including FusionCharts free in the app. I have tried different ways of inserting a simple chart in a JSF page but with no luck. On of the methods involves using the elements OBJECT and EMBED but hhen I try to use them I get a "null source" error from JBoss. From what I could find online (through Google), I am under the impression that 'flashvars' isn't quite compatible with JBoss. Is anyone here able to confirm this? If this is the case, what workaround would you suggest me? Other ways I also found online didn't show the chart not even an error message. Thanks in advance.

I've dug up the fact that you need to pass "WT.srch=1" over in the url from the advert, but are there other parameters which you can use to segment: Campaign Adgroup Ad network I know you can do this with Google Analtics at the drop of a button using the various UTM tags, but Webtrends seems to use the proprietary WT. tags. Yet I can only find one tag... wtf :P Anyone able to help? Thanks! H

• Java: Set<E> collection, where items are identified by its class

  I need Set collection, where its items will be identified by items class. Something like ReferenceIdentityMap from Appache Collections, but on class scope i.e. two different instances of same class must be identified as same in this collection. You know, it is a violation of equals()/hashCode() identity principle but in occasional use it makes sense. I have done this in simple class backing with Map<Class<? extends E>, E>, but due to simplicity it doesn't implement Set<E>. There may be a more elegant solution, decorator of any Set<E> would be great. Is there any implementation of such collection there (Apache/Google/something/... Collections)?

• Xcode missing Command Line Utility section - can't start Foundation project template

  I downloaded the iPhone SDK from the iPhone dev center a couple of days ago and installed it yesterday. I'm following the Stanford iPhone development tutorials available on iTunes U. On Assignment 1B, the first instruction is to open a new Foundation Project template. The screenshot shows several sections in Xcode which my version doesn't seem to have, including the Command Line Utility section which the Foundation Project template is shown to be in. Does this need to be installed manually? I tried searching on Google with no luck. The fact that I'm an OS X newbie doesn't really help any either. Thanks in advance!

  Hi, I'am looking for an easy authentication for my users mostly via facebook, but keeping OpenID and other OAuth alternatives as well. For the case if something will go very bad, I will ask my users to optionally provide their email address, which should be obtained via OpenID or OAuth if possible. The same thing is about their name. I am a newbie in Rails, so I started with Railscasts.com #160 (authlogic) and #170 (authlogic and OpenID), however, I had some problems trying to sign in with my Google Account. As I understand, it will take some effort to adjust #170 for my objectives. On the other hand, there is gem authlogic_rpx which will possibly provide me the needed functionality (see http://rails-authlogic-rpx-sample.heroku.com/signin). What would you do? Is it reasonable to put one more step (RPX) in the authentication logic?

• Using Qt's XML library for simple operation

  I basically want to use the XML parser from Qt in my existing project. I have only used Qt once before, and that was with Qt Designer, and I am not having much luck finding anything on Google about how to just use the XML library. I have downloaded a web page that has one large list, and I want to parse it and add each list item to a c++ list. • Symfony forms: Is there any way to set default date for created_at and updated_at field

• multidimensional vector rotation and angle computation -- how?

  Input: two multidimensional (for example dim=8) vectors a and b. I need to find out the "directed" angle (0-2*Pi, not 0-Pi) between those vectors a and b. And if they are not parallel I need to rotate vector b in plane a,b by "directed" angle L. If they are parallel, plane does not matter, but angle of rotation is still the same L. For 2d and 3d this is quite easy, but for more dimensions I am lost, I didn't find anything on google, and I prefer using some already proved&tested equations (avoiding errors introduced by my calculations :-D). Thank you in advance for tips, links, etc. Edit: dimension of the space is the same as dimension of the vectors.

• goo.gl Api: How to know if URL was added to user's history?

  I'm using the goo.gl API as described here. It's easy to use and it works with or without authantication (I'm using OAuth). So, if I provide the OAuth token / secret, the shortened URL is added to the users history. My problem is, that I would like to show to the user that the shortened URL was added to his goo.gl history. The respone you get from the shortening request, however, is always the same, whether you use authorization or not: { "kind": "urlshortener#url", "id": "http://goo.gl/fbsS", "longUrl": "http://www.google.com/" } So, does anyone know a way to find out, if the shortened URL was successfully added to the user's history? Is there a parameter you can add to the request URL that leads to a more detailed result string?

  Hi all My situation is. I have a project planned to be built on ASP.NET MVC 2. And one of the major requirements is SEO optimization. A customer wants to use static-like URLs that end up with .html extension for this project that make URLs more SEO friendly. E.g. "mysite.com/about.html " or "mysite.com/items/getitem/5.html" etc. I wonder is there any benefit from SEO perspective to use .html extension in dynamic URLs? Are Google and other search engines rank work better with such URLs?

• AJAX with Ruby on Rails?

  This is probably a really dumb question with a simple answer but... I am working on a project where I need to use AJAX to send/receive information. I am using Ruby on Rails (which I am pretty new to), but rather than using the helper methods or the built in functionality in the 'defaults' Javascript file, I need to do this manually in my own Javascript. I believe that ultimately I will want to send a request with a JSON object, then have the controller return another JSON object containing the requested information. The problem is that I cannot seem to find the syntax for sending something to a specific controller method, with parameters, directly from Javascript - everything I Google ends up being tutorials for using the Rails AJAX helper methods.

• Connection to DB2 in Python

  Hi, I'm trying to create a database connection in a python script to my DB2 database. When the connection is done I've to run some different SQL statements. I googled the problem and has read the ibm_db API (http://code.google.com/p/ibm-db/wiki/APIs) but just can't seem to get it right. I really tried everything (or, not everything but pretty damn close) and I can't get it to work. I just need to make a automatic test python script that can test different queries with different indexes and so on and for that I need to create and remove indexes a long the way.   I've looked into some questions here where the "best" programming books are listed and then thought why there isn't a question concerning speeches yet. I think that speeches or presentations from developers or even creators of programming languages which were or are heavily used at some point are particulary interesting. One of my favorite speeches was recommended to me by someone here on SO: The future of C# I also like Guido van Rossum's speeches but he sometimes seems pretty nervous. Another in my opinion good presentation would be the Google tech talk about Go. Which (recorded) programming presentations/speeches are worth watching? edit: Made this a community wiki as the answer would probably be a pretty long list.
