  Any easy way to read all the columns in Matlab? my format is date time y1 y2 y3 y4 ......................... 4/27/2010 00:3:09 34 45 45 56 ................ so on currently i am reading these with the code [c,pathc]=uigetfile({'*.txt'},'Select the data','C:\Data'); file=[pathc c]; data= dlmread(file, ',', 1,3); so needless to say i am skipping the time stamps. Was wondering if there is aeasy way to read the time stamps and plot my other colums agianst the time in hours. my files are 43200 X 30 and some are 86400 X 90 Related question : is the format same for .csv and .xls files , i mean except ofcourse xlsread

I want to make a query that would work similarly to the following SQL statement using the SQLAlchemy orm: SELECT A.* FROM A, B WHERE A.id = B.id AND B.type = 'some type'; The thing is that I'm trying to separate out A and B's logic into different places. So I'd like to make two queries that I can define in separate places: one where A uses B as a subquery, but only returns rows from A. I'm sure this is fairly easy to do, but an example would be nice if someone could show me.

• PHP/Codeigniter processing a list with javascript

  I have a list of items that the user can select. I want it to be more user friendly than standard checkboxes so I have seperate div's each with a unique id. When user clicks an item, I use javascript to display a tick on top of that item and change the style to show that it is highlighted. Im trying to work out how I can pass the list of id's when the form is submitted. Remember, if the user unticks an item, it should be removed from the list, I was thinking of using comma seperated values in a hidden text field but couldnt work out how to remove items from the start of the list if they were deselected

• How to prompt user input parameters for SQL Queries in Access 2010

  SELECT Transactions.TransactionNumber FROM Transactions WHERE (((Transactions.Date)>=#11/23/12#)) AND (((Transactions.Date)<=#11/23/12#)); The above code returns all the transaction that happened between the specified dates. But I want those dates to be defined by the user every time the query is executed. I tried using the [] operators to have the user define the criteria in the WHERE, something like this: WHERE (((Transactions.Date)>=[Input a Date])) AND (((Transactions.Date)<=[Input a Date])); But microsoft Access throws a Syntax error message. The same happens when I include the # (date operators) like this WHERE (((Transactions.Date)>=#[Input a Date]#)) AND (((Transactions.Date)<=#[Input a Date]#)); Is there anopther way to manage dates that I'm not aware of or is asking a user for dates in a query out of the question

In more detail, I have a bit stream that is read as an integer by hardware, and I need to do some operations on the bits to make it into what its actually supposed to be (a float). • Many Associations Leading to Slow Query

  I currently have a database that has a lot of many to many associations. I have services which have many variations which have many staff who can perform the variation who then have details on themselves like name, role, etc... At 10 services with 3 variations each and up to 4 out of 20 staff attached to each service even doing something as getting all variations and the staff associated with them takes 4s. Is there a way I can reduce these queries that take a while to process? I've cut down the queries by doing eager loading in my DBM to reduce the problems that arise from 1+N issues, but still 4s is a long query for just a testing stage. Is there a structure out there that would help make such nested many to many associations much quicker to select? Maybe combining everything past the service level into a single table with a 'TYPE' column ?? I'm just not knowledgable enough to know the solution that turns this 4s query into a 300MS query... Any suggestions would be helpful.

  Hi all, I have sharepoint list with several columns - month, year and some custom data. I want to provide 2 dropdowns to allow user select month and year to filter rows. I added "Choice Filter" webpart for month and set connection to list (this works). I added second "Choice Filter" for year and I wanted to do the same. However, I cannot set connection to list, because mylist is disabled in webpart menu "Edit-Connections-Send filter values to". How can I apply 2 filtering criteria? Thanks, Juraj

• sqlite & python - only pulls the first result

  This is pretty strange (admitedly, this is my first attempt with python / sqlite), but I can seem to get all of the rows if I do a fetchAll(), but other than that - no matter what I try, always ends up in the db only returning the first row - the second iteration stops because a null is returned. Wondering if there is something wrong with how I am coding this up in python? • Cannot move ckeditor 4 selection to beginning

  I've been exploring numerous solutions in stackoverflow and elsewhere to try to get ckeditor 4 to scroll to the top after I've programmatically added a number of pages to it, using CKEditor's InsertHtml function. After adding my html, which looks fine, I want to position the cursor at the beginning. Here's one of a variety of things I've tried without success: function MoveCaretToStart(myEditor) { var range = new CKEDITOR.dom.range( editor.document ); range.selectNodeContents(editor.document.getBody()); range.moveToElementEditStart(range.root); // also tried range.collapse(true); range.select(); } ... MoveCaretToStart(CKEDITOR.instances['myEditor']); // which already has contents in it This doesn't throw any errors, but also doesn't move the cursor position (it remains at the end of the doc). I thought this one would be easy, but it sure hasn't been. Any help appreciated.

  Hi, I am trying to write an SQL query to update some of the attributes that are regularly pulled from source. the output will be a text file with the following fields: author, title, date, popularity I have two tables to update one is the author information and the other is popularity table. And the Author Active Record object has one popularity. Currently I'm doing it like this.\ arr.each { |x| x = x.split(" ") results = Author.find_by_sql("SELECT authors.id FROM authors, priorities WHERE authors.id=popularity.authors_id AND authors.author = x[0]") results[0].popularity.update_attribute("popularity", x[3]) I need two tables because the popularity keeps changing, and I need only the top 1000 popular ones, but I still need to keep the previously popular ones also. Is there any nicer way to do this, instead of one query for every new object. Thanks.

I know I can enable calling php functions by using the registerPHPFunctions function. However, this only seems to support calling static methods.

• Can you modify SQL DB schema in a transaction to know if all changes were applied?

  As part of my (new) database version control methodology, I'm writing a "change script" and want the change script to insert a new row into the SchemaChangeLog table if the script is executed successfully, or to reverse changes if any single change in the script fails. Is it possible to do schema changes in a transaction and only if it gets committed to then do the INSERT? For example (psuedo-code, I'm not too good with SQL): SET XACT_ABORT ON BEGIN TRANSACTION PRINT 'Add Col2 to Table1' IF NOT EXIST (SELECT * FROM sys.columns WHERE NAME='Col2' AND object_id=OBJECT_ID('Table1')) BEGIN ALTER TABLE [dbo].[Table1] ADD Col2 int NULL END -- maybe COMMIT here? • Changing Dropdown based on Other Dropdown Menu

  I've seen a few questions like this, but mine is a bit more specific so I hope this isn't considered a repost. I am working on a website that is built with struts 2 and hibernate. I need to dynamically populate a drop down menu using data from a sql query based on an option selected in another drop down menu. So basically when the first option is selected I need to rehit the server and get the results from a query like SELECT column FROM table WHERE option = dropDownOption On top of that, I would really like to use ajax to only refresh the affected elements, however I'm really unfamiliar with ajax. I have jquery on this project and I found they have some ajax built in, but is this a good method for using it? any advice on this topic would be appreciated.

  Hi, I've got two tables - users and servers, and for the HABTM relationship, users_servers. Users HABTM servers and vice versa. I'm trying to find a way for Cake to select the servers that a user is assigned to. I'm trying things like $this->User->Server->find('all'); which just returns all the servers, regardless of whether they belong to the user. $this->User->Server->find('all', array('conditions' => array('Server.user_id' => 1))) just gives an unknown column SQL error. I'm sure I'm missing something obvious but just need someone to point me in the right direction. Thanks!

  Hi, I was just wondering whether in C is it possible to peek in the input buffer or perform similar trickery to know whether a call to fgets would block at a later time. Java allows to do something like that by calling BufferedReader.ready(), this way I can implement console input something like this: while (on && in.ready()) { line = in.readLine(); /* do something with line */ if (!in.ready()) Thread.sleep(100); } this allows an external thread to gracefully shutdown the input loop by setting on to false; I'd like to perform a similar implementation in C without resorting to non portable tricks, I already know I can make a "timed out fgets" under unix by resorting to signals or (better, even though requering to take care of buffering) reimplement it on top of recv/select, but I'd prefer something that would work on windows too. • Oracle SQL: Query results from previous X isoweeks () (where X might be > 52)

  How could I adapt this query to show the previous 61 weeks? (still exlcluding the current week). My query currently shows me the total weekly sales for 2010 grouped by ISO Week and ISO Year (exlcuding the current week). select to_char(order_date,'IYYY') as iso_year, to_char(order_date,'IW') as iso_week, sum(sale_amount) from orders where to_char(order_date,'IW') <> to_char(SYSDATE) and to_char(order_date,'IYYY') = 2010 group by to_char(order_date,'IYYY') to_char(order_date,'IW') I realize I could probably just omit the "2010" requirement, order by desc and limit results to a certain bnumber of rows. But that just doesn't seem right! Much appreciate any help pointing me in the right direction!
